TIP: Follow them on Instagram for 1/2 off your studio fee!! If this is your first time at Color Me Mine, this is how it works. 1st: Pick a ceramic piece to paint: Prices are located on the bottom of each piece. A mug is about $18-22 whereas bigger and more intricate ceramic pieces can be up to $40-50 2nd: Figure out your design: They have stencils, stamps, masking tape, etc... You can either use these or you can free hand and design your piece on your own. Pencil on what you'd like and the pencil markings will completely burn off after they glaze put it in the kiln. So no worries if you can't erase your marks off. I was actually disappointed by the selection of stencils and stamps they had at this particular location compared to locations I have been to prior. 3rd: Pick your colors: Anything you don't paint over will still get glazed, so you can tape over it to omit a certain area. 4th: Paint: Paint from light to dark. You can always wash it off if you mess up. Paint three layers on to get the solid look, or it will come out of the kiln looking transparent. Overall, I had a lovely experience with my friend here. I would just like to mention that there was only ONE GIRL (out of three) who I felt was truly working. Maddy was very helpful to us and the other customers. I can't help but feel she was overwhelmed because her two other coworkers were chatting away in the back while she was getting paints, explaining the process to first time customers and blow drying the art between layers of paints. Color Me Mine - Painting time at Color Me Mine - Art Classes Near Me - Pasadena, California

My daughter and I used to go to the Color Me Mine in Porter Ranch religiously when she was younger. We created lots of special memories and pieces there. We decided to go to this location because we were meeting friends here. Big mistake. The ceramic pieces were super pricey. At first, I chalked it up to inflation because everything is more expensive these days! Unfortunately, after our time here we checked with 2 other studios and it turned out the same pieces here were priced at up to $20 above sticker price at other locations. Price gouge much? Prior experiences at other locations were so memorable, in part, because the staff helped make it so. They were welcoming, informative, kind, professional and polite. The staff at this location was rude, unhelpful, and unwelcoming. We told the staff we were ready with our color choices and they walked away. Did not come back until we got up and asked for them to. This is important because your paint time is strictly limited to 2 hours. If I'm being timed and charged accordingly, best believe I need you to hustle to make sure we have what we need to get started. That's the basics. Speaking of, we were not given any instruction or tips about what colors were best to paint first (ie light colors first) or otherwise. I remembered from years back that there was best technique but no details. So I had to ask. We were not given any paper towels for our hands or brushes. For 4 painters we were given one mug containing a handful of paintbrushes. Not nearly enough for 4 separate projects. We had to get up to ask for more and get our own sponges. They were not provided to the table. We had to ask for paint refills. Out of 4 staff there, only one came once within the two hours to ask if we needed more paint. Upon checkout, no one asked me for my pieces. No one told me where to put them. No one made sure the paperwork went with the pieces. I paid $100 to paint a mug and a light switch plate and I'm not entirely sure I'll ever get them back given the lack of direction at this point. Other locations were meticulous about keeping paperwork with the art, with good reason. There are a lot of pieces to keep track of. One thing is for certain and two things for sure...this review is documentation about their lack of attention to detail so if we don't get out pieces, as I've read other reviewers mention, they'll need to refund us in full. Otherwise, I do believe that is negligence on their part at the very least and premeditated robbery at its worst. If you're looking to have a memorable time with your child or loved one, do yourself a favor and go to literally any other Color Me Mine location. This is not the place for you. It will get you with a one two punch. Epic price gouging and terrible customer service. read more

I used to do this type of stuff as a child in Florida. Mom would take us to the local ceramic store in the mall. Back then you had to sand down and clean up the ceramics. Now you just paint and then pick it up in a week after it's been fired in the kiln. I think it's best for kids who already love painting and drawing. Also seemed like a good date spot, as there were young couples there painting and chatting. Prices are a tad high to start, but large pieces are affordable. Staff is friendly and attentive. You can park in the lot down the block, as Old Town Pasadena parking sucks. I could go here once a month and have fun. However, my six year old doesn't like painting or drawing except for Pollock type splatter painting. He had to choose the largest ceramic cupcake in the place. Of course, he got bored after doing one coat on the top (you have to do three coats at least to get true color). So it turned into a bit of a nightmare for me. If it's your first time, make sure the kid chooses a smaller item. Otherwise you end up painting it for them. Still, I liked it, and enjoyed making a Satanic cross out of their cross ceramic. it was one of the great family bonding experience at Color Me Mine. The staff was helpful and there were many ceramic pieces to pick from.

I came here the other day with my boyfriend for a fun date. The customer service was great and we parked at the parking garage on green. It was our 1st time here and the employees were nice to let us know how the process works. You can choose which product to glaze and the prices are at the bottom on the products so you know how much it is. On top of buying the product, there is a $10 fee for each person glazing 1 product. I was afraid it would be expensive, but it wasn't that bad. We ended up paying about $60 in total for 2 people and 2 products. You can also get some more paint if needed and if you don't get to finish it there within 2 hours, you can also take some paint home to finish with no extra cost. Once you glaze your products, they will notify you within 1 week to let you know when it's time to pick them up. I think this was a fun place for a date, hang out with friends, or taking kids here as well. read more

This is a cool little spot if you want to relax and unwind without the wine. If that makes sense. Not just for children, this is a haven where you can connect with the creative artist inside of you. Simply choose a piece from the wall and grab a color palate and viola! You are on your way to creating a masterpiece for that someone or maybe your crib or someone elses crib. After you are done Van Goghing your piece one of the helpful employees will gladly clean up your creative work space and ring you up. After about a week or so your Leonardo should be done and ready for the long awaited pick up. The pieces seem dull and colorless at first but after the fire they come out looking quite neat. Reservations are definitely recommended as they tend to get full on the weekends. That's my take on this experience that I can call and color my own. Peace out. read more

Came here last Friday for a friends birthday and it was pleasantly enjoyable. We brought in some drinks and snacks and painted away. I chose a to paint a mug ($10 or so), and my wife chose to paint a garden gnome ($40 or so). Overall it was pretty fun. A good date night or birthday activity. The young ladies working there were very helpful and they even had live music. The gentleman playing the guitar that night get 5 stars, especially for his Shaggy impersonation. Spot On. This probably isnt something you can do on a regular basis because it can be expensive, but overall, I'm a fan. read more

I've been here a few times and I always have a pleasant time. I just wish that they were not so expensive. I know for sure, that bisque wear is very cheap. This business is making a killing!! I digress. My friends and I like to come here, to get creative. I just went with a friend. She made a tray and I made a bowl. We did not finish the first day that we were there and we were able to go back the next day to finish up our work, without paying the studio fee again, which was really nice. Maybe not the best idea come time to pay I was obviously distracted and the girl told me my The total and I didn't think about how it was really expensive. For one studio fee and one piece to paint I was told $54 and change. So I paid $60 cash. She gave me change it was $3.54! Later that night I look at my receipt, I was over charged but no I was stolen from. The girl when handing me my change was giving me a weird vibe now looking back. She stole $30. I called and they told me the registers as exact. Yeah bc she stole it. Then I was told the by manager she would contact owners and get back to me. Never happened! I like to make reservations just to make sure i have a spot when we arrive as this location is in a busy area. They also have kids night out. When you paint something it will be ready about 5 days. A great little spot to try something different for date night. We are here on a Monday for a bit of ceramic painting. The space is very open, with lots of tables and lots of pieces of pottery stacked on the shelves around the store. There were two ladies working that evening who told us to pick our piece and they would come tell us what we needed to do. I went for a big mug ($19). We nabbed a table by the window and one of the ladies came over and began to explain the process. The lighting by the window tables isn't the best, so I would avoid sitting here. Once we decided on our colors, the lady nabbed them for us, and we began painting our pieces. All in all, it was a really enjoyable experience. We posted our pictures on Instagram, tagging the shop and we each received 50% off the studio fees.I picked the pieces up one week later, and they looked fantastic. Street parking is tricky in this part of town, but there are a couple of structures (one on DeLacey, one on Green st) which offer 90 mins free. read more

Originally a 1 star review, however the manager Kathryn looked up my info in their system and took the time to call and address the situation. Long story short there was an issue with a promotion that they had and that the staff handled less than acceptably. So Kathryn called and was very polite and actually explained the policy (makes perfect sense once it's explained properly) anyway, she offered a refund from her own pocket, which I refused but the gesture was enough to restore my faith in the level of customer service here. She insisted on rectifying the situation so that I would hopefully feel confident in choosing this location in the future (successfully done). As stated in my original review, they were friendly (other than the mishap) and the studio has what you need to create a nice custom glazed art piece, especially fun for kids and have a very fast turn around time for pick up. Note to the owners: you hired a great manager in Kathryn and it is only because of her that I will bring my business back there! read more
