Originally a 1 star review, however the manager Kathryn looked up my info in their system and took the time to call and address the situation. Long story short there was an issue with a promotion that they had and that the staff handled less than acceptably. So Kathryn called and was very polite and actually explained the policy (makes perfect sense once it's explained properly) anyway, she offered a refund from her own pocket, which I refused but the gesture was enough to restore my faith in the level of customer service here. She insisted on rectifying the situation so that I would hopefully feel confident in choosing this location in the future (successfully done). As stated in my original review, they were friendly (other than the mishap) and the studio has what you need to create a nice custom glazed art piece, especially fun for kids and have a very fast turn around time for pick up. I stopped by for their first Friday special which includes a late closing (midnight), live music, $1 studio fees, and byob. Staff Allison was amazing. She took time to actually break down things for us and made herself available if we needed anything. That little bit of effort from her would make me come again. Location This is the first Color Me Mine that I've been to so I don't have anything to really compare it to. However, I did feel like it was a bit cramped. The tables were close together and even right next to the shelving that carries the ceramic pieces. Having the ceramic pieces so close to the tables made it really hard to look at the product offering without getting in the way of other guests. Parking Meters and structures. Pricing Ceramic pieces vary in prices; $12 and up. From what I saw was that studio fees are about $7 but if you go on the first Friday of a month they're a $1. Overall I'd go again, especially if it's the first Friday of the month. Drinking, painting, listening to soothing music, saving some money- all make for a great night. Thank you for your presence at this year's Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walk. The free paw prints on tiles and bowls were such a special treat and something that will be cherished in our pup's forever home. I'm definitely a fan of this place. It is an interesting activity that is well worth the price. So, you can make reservations; however, we took a chance at a walk-in and they squeezed us in. It is very simple. You pay a $10 studio fee per person, which covers your admission and your paints and supplies. You then choose your colors and your ceramic piece. After that, it is up to you to paint until your heart is content. You usually have to put at least 2 to 3 coats on, so plan on staying for a while. After that, you pay for your pieces, and then they fire them and you pick them up about a week later. I heard that this place does First Fridays where you get a reduced studio fee, and you can bring your own wine. YUM! I think I'll try that next time. Man, what a great place to make you feel like you're a kid again, too bad this is my first time doing this! First and foremost, I would strongly suggest making a reservation here, we tried to walk in before and they said that we'd have to come back because of the amount of people there. (not all the tables were full but they do spend a lot of time helping you out and there's always some kind of party in the back). Basically, you sit down and they explain the procedure: go pick out your item, then fill out this form, and then begin the painting process. After all the fun decorating occurs and you're ready to leave, just know that it does take a full week for them to put it in the kiln and make it all pretty and glassy looking. I believe the Pasadena location does a special where the paint fee is $1, first Friday of each month i think? Normally it's about 10-11 bucks per person, so pretty good savings there. read more

Parking: There are lots around because this location is in old town Pasadena. Most parking s free for the first hour and a half! Price: On weekdays it is an 8 dollar fee for painting and then the additional cost of what you paint (the price is located underneath what you pick) I think it is a little pricey but It is a fun experience. You can pick up your items a week later! Service: They greet you right away but you might be turned away if you do not have a reservation because they do get busy, so call ahead! They give great instructions and start out by filling your paint for you. They did keep up with water changes but not paint refills so I did feel awkward getting up because I was not sure if I was allowed to touch the paint. My brother and I went and he painted a monster figure while I painted a cup. He is 6 and got tired pretty fast. They do give you a time limit also, it was 2 hours. We finished before then but we had small items. If you pick a larger one it might be difficult to finish in the time limit! Next time I go I would look for a Groupon or a place a little cheaper because the total in the end with tax was a bit pricey. read more

It's always fun and I always have a good time. The pieces (cups, plates, bowls, etc.) can be on the pricey side, well they are on the pricey side. If you think you about it they eliminated a lot of work for you. You get to enjoy the fun part, you don't have to mold the piece you want or wait for it out of the kiln, you just get to paint. The First Friday of the Month is a $1 service fee and you get to BYOB... Color Me Mine is great for kids, it's good for adults, it's great for a date night or an anniversary thing. I've taken classes in pottery, so I was a bit skeptical about Color Me Mine. But I've changed my snooty attitude since visiting the shop last week. My friend decided to host a little party for her bridesmaids there. I was the maid of honor. :) I selected a tall mug to paint. The shop is well stocked with white colored items for embellishing. Cups, cookie jars, pet food dishes, tiles, plates, vases, and figurines graced the shelves. Each one has a price marked on the bottom. My tall mug was $17. The items have a matte surface and seem like bisque-fired porcelain. The glazes are well organized by color name and number with corresponding samples on the walls. I picked only a few colors and they fired up true to the samples. There are brushes, stencils, stamps, and tape available. Everything that you need to decorate your item. The shop keeper was helpful & gave our group a brief tutorial before we got started. There are many cool samples throughout the store to inspire you. This would be a super fun activity for some creative kids to try. My mug was a little more complicated and it took me almost 2 hours to paint. Well, I was chit-chatting the whole time with the other bridesmaids. The items were fired and ready to pick up exactly when promised. We didn't lose any pieces in the process. They all looked better than I expected. The colors were brilliant and the coverage was excellent (I used 3 coats of glaze for most areas). The detail I was able to get was also great. I painted tiny stars with sliver-thin rays of light coming off of them and each one looked sharp. My design had words and the finished project was very legible. I have high standards for my crafty items and I'm very happy with how it turned out! Overall, a good experience for a "shared activity" with friends or kids. read more

Went here for a date night with my husband and had a great time! It was clean, and the employees were nice, but not super attentive. We refilled our own paints like it was our job. The experience was fun overall and there was a pretty good selection of things to paint that weren't to kitschy. If possible, find out when they get shipments in of products. We walked by the next day and there was almost twice as many ceramic pieces to choose from! we felt a little cheated. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to paint when you go here. We spent nearly two hours painting a tissue box, and that was with two people working on the same thing. Also, if you check in on facebook you get $5 off of your sitting fee, which is pretty nice :) Cons: -the tables are really close to the shelves, so looking at things to choose what to pick and paint was a little awkward. the whole place is a little cramped -the employees kind of show you how to do techniques, but you need to be vocal if you want help/advice about how to do something. We wanted to tape off lines, but they didn't tell us until we were leaving that they have the tools for us to do that. read more

Fun place to de-stress and forget about reality. Its easy and fun. Okay, I sat there for thirty minutes planning my piece but after that it was relaxing. You pay for studio time and the piece. You can color anything from a plate to a coffee mug to car figurines. It takes a week for it to be ready but they call you when its done. You can use as many colors as you want, but don't be wasteful. You could be there for hours, they don't care. If you can't come up with your own idea, you can go online and google ideas. There are some tools in the drawers you can use. For example, stencils, sponges or stamps. I like it a little more than paint nite because you can go in whenever you want. For one, they give you more than two paint brushes. They have a lot of brushes to use from tiny to broad. Second, they refresh your water so its easy to clean your brushes and it doesn't mess up your colors. Also, you can get creative and venture off into your own ideas. Plus there is a lot of space and you can bring in your own food or drinks. Across the street is an asian coffee shop with a variety of drinks and pastries. I would stop there for a drink before your paint session. I put a happy face on the bottom of my jewelry box and it was smudged when it was cooked. I guess try not to get fancy with the bottom because the rack might mess it up when it gets cooked. No one looks at the bottom anyway. Good experience. Its a little pricy but if you have some time to kill and money to spare, then its a good place to spend it. Have fun! I haven't been to one of these places since the 3rd grade, but boy did I have fun! My husband and I are children at heart, and we always have a good laugh at my lack of artistic abilities. We came here for a double date night with my brother and sister in law, and we all had so much fun! There are so many cute ceramics to choose from, and once we made our paint color selections we all began putting our paint brushes to work! It took about 2 hours for us to all complete. The only con here is the price. It's too expensive for what it is, and I think the service fee per person is unnecessary since we can just get up and get our paints ourselves & clean the brushes if we want to. I'm not the most artistic person, but what was great about this place was that I was able to find a cute owl piece and color in the face and body (no need to be creative to color)!! Some of my more artistic friends painted their own picture on mugs and plates. There are definitely regulars who come often because of how pro they are and don't need assistance. Seating: this place was not the biggest. There were maybe 5 tables that seat 3 people and a room for a party of 10. So if you have a small birthday party that you want to host I'd definitely recommend this place. I know where I'm going for my bachelorette party!!I was there with a group of 9 people and we already occupied 3 tables. Luckily we got there at 2 pm because people without reservations started to come near 4pm-ish and they were told to come back because of the lack of seating. Service: 5 stars for service! They made sure we understood how the colors would come out after our pieces were baked and gave us clear and precise instructions. They also replaced our brush washers whenever the water became too cloudy. I even saw one of the staff members teach a little girl how to do a tie dye color on her plate! It was pretty neat!! Parking: unfortunately there's no parking lot but Street parking for $2 in the meter was not bad at all. Price: smaller pieces of ceramic came out to be around $10+ whereas the med-large pieces were 20+. Very disappointed with today's interaction and the unprofessional staff. First, they spent 30 minutes refusing to accept my gift card, even though I even had the receipt. They insisted I call up the person who gave the gift card and have them pull up their credit card statement. Finally, after seeing the credit card statement and original receipt, and after making me 30 minutes late to lunch, they honored their gift card, but then had the audacity to charge me double the ordinary rate! We had two people in our party paint. Just 2. Yet they charged us for 5 because we had three friends that happened to walk by, saw us, and briefly talked to us from the sidewalk. They never sat down and never painted, but they charged us for 5 people (the 2 that painted AND the 3 bystanders). Already 30 minutes late for lunch because of their resistance to accepting a gift card, I ultimately paid the extra money. But never again. Avoid. read more

This will be my 3rd attempt in collecting my item. After 2 phone calls to tell me it was ready. They failed to find my product. Don't call me if it's not ready or you cannot find it. The employee (she has short curley black hair, petite frame) makes me feel like it's my misunderstanding that they cannot find my product. A friend and I brought 5 kids to make ornaments during Thanksgiving break. Turns out they didn't have the white colored glaze, for which I tried to substitute with beige and gray. The results are terrible. My ornaments look one bland color, not the effect I wanted at all. How do they "run out of white"??! They told us it happens all the time because it's a popular color. Well of course it is. It's white, and it's indispensable. This is completely unacceptable, especially at any painting place during the holidays. I'm very disappointed in my ornaments, on which I spent $14 each, plus a studio fee of $8 for each of my children, not to mention the two hours we spent there working on them. read more

Always saw it but never thought too much about it. This place is actually pretty fun! Must admit, it is a little pricey (well ofc, since it's in Old Town Pas), I wouldn't recommend if you're on a budget. Luckily for me, I had a coupon! LOL They had these bowls specifically for the coupon and I just had to pay the studio fee. The whole thing was really simple and fun. They have stencils for you to design your item, you have a variety of paint and brushes AND items to paint, they have tips on painting, etc. The amount of stuff that they have for you to choose from is great! Like you would just think pots and mugs and bowls but there's like SO much stuff, it's really cool. And I appreciate the sample pieces they have to help your creative juices flow. It definitely does take a while, especially if a. you dont know what you wanna paint or b. you're really meticulous. ALSO! I think they know that their prices are a little steep for some people, but they have deals throughout the week and month! Such as happy hour and you get to paint your own beer mug, and on Wednesdays you can bring canned food for donations and you get $2 off your studio fee, per can. Mon & Tues, you check in on FB and get half off your studio fee! I have come to this place a few times now and although it sure is pricey I always have a good relaxing time. The studio fee has gone up to $8 it used to be less for kids I believe but that includes the paint and supplies. They charge $8 plus whatever item you choose to paint. They have small items that range in prices and of course the bigger the item the more it costs. I like that you are allowed to bring your own drinks inside. So you paint your item and you leave it there to be "cooked" and then it becomes glossy. I kind of like the way it looks without the gloss but I always end up leaving it there. My husband made a nice Princess for our daughter and although it's gorgeous now that it's finished I loved the color it looked without it being glossed. It turns a bit darker after they finish it and they explain how the paint turns darker and how they recommend 3 layers of paint to get the color they have on display. You can walk in but if they are booked there won't be room for you so I suggest you reserve, it's better. I would give it 5 stars except for the fact that it can get pretty expensive to come here so 4 stars it is. read more

Horrible customer service. Rude workers and very unfriendly. There were multiple tables open and they turned our family away. Seems as though they saw us with a toddler and did not want to accommodate us. And they were so rude to us! I am a disappointed. Avoid this unkind friendly, rude, zero of a place. This happened previously to us and I took their word for it. It just can not be that two times I come with multiple people there and they have "reservations" for others!
