We went on a June Monday. It was pretty busy, but we walked in and they still had tables. Greeted immediately and customer service was fantastic. Blair and Georgia were attentive throughout the entire three hours we were there. This was our first visit to Color Me Mine and I was very impressed, especially with the customer service. I took my toddler granddaughter for an after school session and she had a great time. Fortunately they had multiple unicorn figurines to choose from because it HAD to be a unicorn. The young lady employee who greeted us at the door warmly and her friendly personality set the tone for our entire visit. She explained how everything worked with the paints, instructions, and most importantly to have fun.  5 stars for customer service.  The cost of the figurine I thought was a bit high, but during the week (Wednesday) the studio fee was half price. We will definitely return in the future. read more

This location was very chaotic. We called ahead and they said they had availability, got there and they said they had a long wait list (so which was it?) but then they doubled checked and they had a table for us. They never really explained anything to us nor did we have one person dedicated to us. It more like as someone walked by "oh did we tell you this?". They need structure on their entry procedure. One thing they didn't tell us until 30-45mins in was they had a limit on how long you could be there. At this point we had already started on our pieces, luckily we had small items but I would have been very annoyed not knowing they had a time limit if I had a larger piece that I already started. They also didn't have a great variety of items to choose from and their paint brushes were pretty crappy. I hated that we couldn't get our own paints because you then needed to continually flag someone down to get more and they were never checking on us/available to get the paint. We recently had a birthday party for my granddaughter and 12 of her friends. They were able to choose from many adorable pieces to paint and seemed to enjoy themselves. The problem is the fact that this is a "drop off" party atmosphere due to space. They are open to the general public, and I am guessing smaller reservations, so therefore there was little to no effort with the staff to maintain the party. One staff member went around and put names on the pieces being painted and took the girls "paint order". Once the paint was given to them, the staff pretty much forgot there was a party going on. It was a good thing that we had 4 family members that stayed and were able to help out. All 4 staff members were gathered around the cash register, during most of the party, and it wasn't until we said something to the them that they placed 2 staff members with the party to get the girls extra paint, brushes, help them out, etc. The establishment is too small to host large parties and be open to the public. For the amount of money that it costs, the party planning, on their part, should be better planned out. read more

I have been to this location a few times over the years including having a birthday party for one of my daughters. A few months ago I brought my teen and her friend to paint. I did not see the email that the pieces were ready for pick up. (Must have gotten mixed up with all the promotional color me mine emails I also get.). Anyway, with the end of school, 2 graduations, etc. time got away from me. I went to pick up the pieces yesterday and were told they were donated! I now realize there are signs saying this in the store but I did not notice then before. A simple text or phone call reminding me to pick them up would prevented this from happening. They don't mind taking my money but can't take the time to give a courtesy phone call! Terrible policy. I'll take my business to Creatively Yours down the street. read more

I paid for a kids night out a few months ago. Part of this is where the kids would select and paint a piece of pottery. It takes some time for the items to be ready, but upon going back about two months later to pick up, they said they had no record of, the pottery items at all, or they donated them. I never received any notification that they would donate these, or that the whole time was expiring, and there was a general disregard for my poor kids who were sitting there, excited to finally pick up their pottery, if you do use, just be very vigilant and saving any and all receipts, and picking up ASAP, because this could be you. read more

I have gone to this location for as long as I can remember and have never had a bad experience, especially in the last few weeks. I have been in 3 times over the last month and the girls have always been extremely helpful and calm (especially for dealing with children for most of the day). The last time I visited, I did not get to finish my piece during my time slot and they allowed me to bring it home for next time. Unfortunately, I knocked it off of a shelf at home and they were extremely accomodating in attempting to fix my piece as well as allowing me to create a new piece. This has become my favorite thing to do in the area and I'm happy to come here as often as I can. Highly recommend for parties as well! read more

Really cute option when you are tired of taking your kids to indoor play spaces etc. We went on a rainy Sunday morning and it wasn't too crowded. The service was nice - nothing over the top, but it was totally fine for us. My son (he is 2 1/2) really loved painting his pottery piece! The pieces are all different prices - and there is a fee - so it does add up, but it's a really nice activity when you want something different. Probably not a good activity for someone who isn't local, since you have to pick up the piece about a week later, after they glaze and fire it. Overall, we enjoyed it! read more

We wanted to try something different with the kids so found this place online. When we got there it was empty just a small party in the back. We were seated right away which is great when you have kids that are like bulls in a China shop. We had a variety of ceramics to choose from although too expensive in my opinion. Then kids really enjoyed themselves...we chose a cat because well we have a cat lol. One of the downsides is that I wish they would offer an explanation of the whole process to the kids I think they would have liked to know what happens next after the ceramics are painted. Let me just start by saying this is not an actual pottery place. It is simply a place where you go on pick a piece of pottery that had already been made and you just sit at a table and paint on it. If this is okay with you then this place is awesome. Although I had thought I would be doing actual pottery it was still extremely fun. I came in with a few of my friends and we were greeted by the most warm and friendly staff who happened to be the owners too. They engaged in friendly banter with us and made our experience really enjoyable. The only annoying thing is you only get like five colours at a time on your paint pallet. Let's start with the most UNIMPRESSIVE SERVICE ever. The girls basically sat there the entire time and did not pay attention to the customers. When we were brought to our table, they didn't explain anything. I didn't know we had to write what paint color we wanted on the paper that was covering the table. And thankfully I read the print out with directions on how to clean the pottery prior to painting, since they failed to explain that to anybody. During the painting process, the girls (once again) just sat on their asses and looking on their phone. I had to get up from my table and walk over to them to ask for more paint. We all got tired of getting up to ask for help, so we eventually settled on loudly saying "EXCUSE ME" to get their attention. The pieces they have at Color Me Mine is rather cute but severely overpriced. The selection of color was alright. I HATED the customer service here and will NEVER return. Keep your children at home. I wouldn't recommend this place. Just go to Doin' Dishes in Montclair where they are nicer and more helpful. read more

Really great place to take kids to paint pottery. They have a big selection of pieces and a lot of colors of paint. The employees are all really friendly especially the owner. They never rush you and offer help if you need it. If you go late in the evening and can't finish your piece, they let you come back to paint at a time that's convenient for you. We had a ladies night here and they even stayed open later to allow us to all finish as we were all talking so much! Highly recommend for kids, adults girls and boys! Went here with my mom on a Wednesday night at 6pm during a snow storm. I like the concept of it! Northern Jersey needs more activities for adults, other than shopping.... One reviewer commented that you can expect to spend $20-30. Well, it really depends on what you're painting. There are a couple of ceramic pieces to paint, and those can range from $10-$40 (I don't know that I saw anything more than 40). Then you add on the studio fee/person for sitting and that's $10. Since my mom and I painted the same bowl which was $30, the total experience amounted to ~$40-50... which isn't bad... but then I'm constantly thinking about how I could have gotten paint for myself at Blick, and go garage sale hopping/goodwill hunting for cups and painted that at home. But then... I wouldn't have even thought about it in the first place had I not been looking for an arts and crafts project to do. All in all, a good place for Ridgewood, and I'd go back again, but probably paint something smaller. read more

When the shop is half empty because those with reservations cannot be punctual, it's not advisable to send the confirmed paying customers out the door with a half hearted "we will put you on the list and hopefully call you if something opens up." This previously happy customer left upset and confused and will seriously consider the competition a block down the street next time. Stopped in here on a Wednesday evening and had a long conversation with the two girls who were working. I asked them if I could make a reservation for Friday evening. They told me the hours they were open and assured me that walking in would be no problem and that a reservation was not needed. I showed up on Friday night one and a half hours before closing. They told me that the last seating was at seven and that I would not be able to paint that evening. It was 730 when I arrived. So seriously, and hour and a half is not enough to paint one piece? Also why didn't the two girls that were there on Wednesday night tell me at 7 o'clock what's the last seating? The place was empty. This place really needs to learn how to train its staff to deal with customers. There are so many similar places in the area. Try a different one. read more

We enjoyed painting our pieces - a dog for my nine year old, and a plate for me. It is a great place to come and create special unique art pieces for family, teachers, friends, and even yourself. Everything is taken care and provided for you, you just need to pick your piece, choose your colors, and paint. You can draw your own design on the piece or just cover your piece with different paints. The pricing depends on the piece that you pick, and the studio fees include the paint brushes, paints, the glazing and the firing of the piece. Ask about the price before you start if you are on a tight budget. The staff at the store is friendly and helpful. I like that they bring you the paint colors and that the tables are not as crammed together as I have experienced in other similar stores. It has smaller tables for four people spread out through the store and one big table at the back which can accommodate groups/parties. It does take a few days to glaze/fire the pieces so if you are making a gift, do remember to take that into consideration. I do like how they have the date when your piece would be ready posted at the cashier. You do have to return to pick up your piece or you can have your piece shipped to you, especially useful if you are from out of town. The store has a wide selection of products for both boys - think Spiderman/Iron Man - and girls - think purses and high heels. There are also different animals - think dogs, cats, owls, and even gecko, and different sized mugs/plates/bowls. They also carry a number of seasonal items so that you can prepare for the upcoming Jewish holidays, and even Halloween. They even have a special pencil which let you write a message that will remain on your piece so it is easy to customize any piece with your own message for your family/friends. While most other patrons were parents/adults with kids, I also saw a couple painting an elaborate design on a plate together. My kids and I went to COLOR ME MINE to try this place. First the lady in charged was so nice! My daughter picked the snoopy and the lady checked the price and told my daughter it's $25. I asked twice are you sure? The lady from the store said yes. My son picked Android for $20.00. When we finished painting lady told me the total. I told her to break it down the prize bcoZ it seems high. Then the lady told me $35.00 for the snoopy. I told her you told my daughter $25. Then lady picked up the snoopy checked the bottom for the price, but duh of course the price not there anymore bcoZ my daughter painted over it already. My two kids even said the lady said, " it was $25.00." The lady lied. My kids were also very quiet bcoZ they can't believe the lady from the place changed the price!!! It is sad bcoZ my kids even said it and she won't even change the price. I would never pay $35.00 for a snoopy and plus $7.00 sitting charge =$42.00!!! Really!!! I thought we go there to have quality time with my kids, but instead it was aggravation and bad experience for the kids!!! I didn't want to argue and make a scene in front of my kids bcoZ it won't be a good example. Now I know why the lady just gave me the total of the 2 items and sitting charge, without even putting itemized price in the receipt, just the total! So weird. So bottom line very disappointed. I even gave them $5.00 for tip! They didn't deserved it. I only realized at the end when I signed the receipt that she over charged me when I asked it seemed high the price. BEWARE!!! Had my daughter's birthday party here. Chose the deluxe package so that the kids could have more to choose from. When it came to the final bill, 3 of the guests were overcharged. When I questioned it I was told it was because those 3 guests chose an item that wasn't part of the deluxe package. They should of informed me or let the guest know that what they chose was not part of the options. Tried to deal with one of the associates and she wasn't pleasant about it and she could only offer a merchandise credit. I just wanted credit back and she couldn't do it. I wanted to speak to the owner but she wasn't in until the afternoon. So the associate took down my name and number and said she'll have the owner get in touch with me when she gets in. Needless to say I did not get a call back that day. I gave it a couple of days and I called back to speak to the owner. Again she was not in. I was told she was out due to not feeling well. I explained my issue again to another associate. And she saw on their message log that I had left my number and my message. But she told me that on the log that someone had written that they had already spoken to me. That is such a lie!!! I did not hear from anyone! So the associate said she'll leave my message again and she said was going to text the owner to try to resolve the situation. Its been over 2 weeks and I haven't had a call back. My mother and I went for a girl's day at Color Me Mine. We had a great time - we stayed for 3 hours finishing our pieces, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Anything we needed they provided, and the woman who seemed to either be the owner or manager even came over and gave us some great suggestions to add some extra flair to our pieces. They said our pieces will be ready in 10-12 days, which I think is great because some of the other local studios told us it takes 2+ weeks to get pieces back. It is slightly pricier than other places, but their pieces are nicer and more intricate. My mother painted a lovely Thanksgiving turkey votive holder, and I painted a witch bowl for Halloween. Their seasonal stuff is very pretty. Overall, we had a very nice afternoon and we look forward to going back again soon! read more

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - no matter how many questions I have to help I need, they are always quick to help with a warm smile on their faces. They are always asking if we need more paint even when they are very busy. I am also impressed with the variety and quality of the pieces. The store has a nice stock of items to choose from and caters to every budget and age offering a variety of items for all ages.
