Coach rod has been patient, kind and pushed him where he could. His progress has been noticeable but more than anything my son just loves coach rod. On the way home after lessons recently he said, "I love coach rod, he always makes sure I'm safe and that I feel safe. Do you think coach rod loves me?" - we've tried all the lessons from Virginia vale to central denver and swimming simply takes the cake! All the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I was thrilled when I pulled in and saw the parking lot almost completely empty, thinking we had finally picked a quiet time to swim. Unfortunately, those hopes were quickly dashed when we were told we couldn't enter the pool because it was already "at capacity" based on the number of lifeguards on duty. Given the nearly empty parking lot, it seemed to be a staffing issue rather than the pool actually being crowded. Unfortunately, this is just one of several frustrating experiences we've had at this rec center. My 6-year-old's lips turn blue after spending more than about 20 minutes in the main pool because of how cold it is. The only area that is really appropriate for him to practice swimming is adult-only for the majority of the day, with only a very limited window for children--and during that window, we're now being told the pool is at capacity. We've also had multiple negative interactions with both front desk staff and lifeguards who have been unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. A previous reviewer made an assessment that I now completely agree with: if you're an older adult, this rec center may be a great fit, as the programming and pool schedules seem heavily geared toward adults. If you have a young family and are looking for a place to work out and swim with your children, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

This is our first year with RMSA, and it's been an up and down season so far…read more We signed our daughter up for Rec, and we understand that Rec is not the same as competetive. But this is from their website under the Red link: INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM ( U-9 U-10 ) This program starts to develop players for the competitive program. There is a greater demand on the players both mentally and physically as more advanced methods are introduced. These players will have a well trained staff and age appropriate activities to guarantee player development for higher levels of the game. Our coach is a nice guy, but he doesn't possess the soccer knowledge that we were expecting. Upon contacting the office, they said that this is not part of their Rec requirements, so the website is very misleading in terms of ability levels. That being said, our team has been completely outmatched in their first 3 games. The skill of other teams is far ahead of our team. Maybe it's just bad luck or something, but it doesn't feel like RMSA is on the same level of other Rec teams. The admin is working to correct things though. They have worked to sign up additional girls, and we were actually able to have subs for the first time today, and I believe that they may be sending some of their other coaches to help out. This post is an update from a previous one after our first two weeks giving them 1 star. I will look to update as the season goes on, and issues arise or are resolved.

While our experience was not completely bad, I would caution families of what they are signing up for. We had a good experience with the coaches, however, I will say that Hispanic families are treated a little better. Even the administrative staff has been quoted as saying the "United States sucks... Mexico is better." If you carefully see who is writing the favorable ratings on Google, you will see a trend. Regardless, this league is not organized. One may think with an administrative staff that has worked there for so long they would know the ins and outs of how to streamline operations, and provide families information more timely. They expect team manager volunteers to go above and beyond all the time. On top of it, when volunteers try to get answers for other parents, the administrative staff will either ignore the questions or forget to answer, despite getting numerous calls, texts or emails. Additionally, this administrative office won't take suggestions from parents, but this is a good way to get removed from volunteer team manager duties for those looking to get out of getting the constant run around and thankless role. While this league touts costing less than other leagues, I would say this league struggles to collect money from families, and pass the cost on to families who do pay. They will also collect money to hold practices in indoor facilities when weather is bad, however, half the time the administrative office failed to secure the facilities as some paid for practices that ended up being cancelled. Ultimately the cost ends up being around the same as other leagues, with no real savings and more time is spent on trying to collect money or answers. RMSA's administrative staff assumed responsibility of collecting money, after dismissing the team manager of one of our kids team 3/4 of the way through the season for providing suggestions. Even months after season ended, the administrative staff was still trying collect money from families for the past season. While surprising, but not shocking, there is a Google review that mentions the league trying to collect from debt 5 years ago. If the family paid or didn't pay, shouldn't the RMSA administrative staff be held accountable after not doing anything for so long? Why are they trying to collect for something 5 years ago? Sounds terrible but maybe somebody is trying to cover their tracks for being sloppy. I end this review with the following question. Does this sound like an organization that knows what they are doing?

Big Blue is great. We've been going for the past few months and my kids have gone from one of them…read morenot being willing to put her face in the water, to swimming laps with a few different strokes. I will say that I think they do better at the lower levels. My son is at one of the highest levels and the classes are bigger and longer, and I don't feel like he gets the same attention that he used to. My daughter is somewhere in the middle though and still learning a ton from her classes each week. In general, the location is clean and well maintained. There are family showers with doors as well as showers along the side of the pool for a quick rinse off. There are plenty of changing rooms for simply drying off and getting on clothes (along with plastic bags provided for putting wet swim clothes in). The staff is super friendly and my kids love them.
