The recordkeeping in this office is entirely paper-based. As a result, everything is told to you verbally and NO written instructions are provided. My healthy cat who never had a problem in vets and her vaccines before got terribly sick after her yearly routine visit. Whole week of vomiting and not eating. Many visits to the ER (not this clinic) who pretty much had to fix her back up. None of the staff in the clinic could hold my cats down for check ups (my previous vet had no issues) so I suspect they had a harder time holding them down properly for shots and bloodwork in the back. I can highly recommend this clinic. My female cat had ear issues that were unresolved by another vet in town, Dr Munck did an amazing job with resolving this for my kitty. Dr Munck goes above and beyond to help our two cats!!! I absolutely trust her in every way, and I know that she cares deeply about the cats, and our family as a whole. She's supporting one of my cats through cancer and has taken a great (reasonable, but very effective) approach. We are patients/ customers for life!!! I also had a bad experience with Dr Munck last year. She sat on the floor of the exam room to talk to me about my cat and rambled on & on before the routine exam even started. She struck me as being "off" and my cat was just roaming around the room getting more distressed by the minute. I suggested that we end the visit but she asked me to help restrain my cat for the exam. He got even more freaked out and she theorized that I was the one making him nervous so she took him into the back for an exam and I could hear him screaming from the lobby. To this day, I regret not asking staff to end the exam immediately. They brought him out covered in fluid (pee? Sweat? Something else?) and charged me $200. My cat was 7 years old at the time and had never had an issue with the vet until this experience at Colorado Cat Clinic. Since then he's terrified with all vets and has to be heavily sedated prior to an exam. I think any vet in Central Oregon would be an improvement over the "services" of this clinic. read more

so not impressed. Took my senior cat (16 years old) in for a tooth extraction; she had a snotty nose and a scratched eye. They took her in at 8:15 am ( after being told not to feed her after 10:00 pm). after examining her, they called me at 11:15 am and said they would not do the tooth surgery after seeing her eye. They put her in a back room (still in her cat carrier). No food, no water, no cat box. I got there around 1:00, and she was hungry and thirsty....took her home and put her in her box; she didn't even dig a hole, she just peed and peed and peed. read more

I had a bad experience here. I took my male cat in to get a rabies shot and also mentioned over the phone that I was concerned he might have a bladder or urinary tract infection as I noticed he was peeing a lot more than usual and that it smelled different than usual. First thing I noticed when I was sitting in their lobby was that they had a taxidermy cat on display on one of their shelves. A TAXIDERMY CAT wearing sunglasses and bandana. I don't know if anyone else would find this in bad taste, but I did. When I met with the vet she started off by getting very obviously annoyed with me that I didn't know my cat's exact birth date. I explained to her that he was a rescue and I'd gotten him as a kitten from a friend of a friend about three years ago. That wasn't good enough for her, and she even asked me if I could CALL the friend I mentioned RIGHT THEN to find out EXACTLY when my cat was born. I explained that I was no longer in contact with that friend, which was very awkward for me. I tried to tell her that he was showing the same behavior as one of my boyfriend's cats who'd had a UTI before and that's the only reason I was concerned about him. She then started to ask questions about my boyfriend's cat, and was trying to pressure me to get my boyfriend to bring HIS CAT to her, basically chiding me for not bringing her into the Colorado cat clinic. I finally had to forcefully say "WELL she is my BOYFRIEND'S cat so I can't really tell him what to do..." and she finally dropped it. She seemed VERY concerned about my cats peeing habits, even suggested he might have kidney problems, might be diabetic and that I'd probably be seeing her "more than I wanted". She basically made me feel like he was in immediate danger. She told me she would not give him a rabies shot because he might be very sick and then SAT ON THE FLOOR of the exam room scribbling notes for a while. She took so long to examine my cat that by the time she finally took him back he'd already peed in his carrier, which meant they'd have to keep him for the day. And when she did FINALLY take him back she was just going to take him without telling me what exactly they were going to do to him or how much it would cost. There was no sheet of paper listing the tests they wanted to run and I didn't sign off on anything. I had to stop her from taking him back and ask her what she was going to do to him and how much it would cost. She seemed very surprised I would want to know this information and somewhat flustered about the answers. She ended up scribbling on a spare piece of paper some tests they MIGHT run on him and how much it would roughly cost. I picked him up right before they closed because they apparently had a very hard time extracting a urine sample from him. They said he was an "ornery one" and that they had to have three people hold him wrapped up in a towel to finally get the deed done. This is a clinic that boasts it specializes in cats, and they couldn't get a urine sample from my cat for about six or seven hours because he was "ornery". When I finally got a call from the vet about two days later she said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my cat and that he "didn't show any of the signs for sickness anyways". This is very confusing for me because at the appointment she was shaking her head warily at all of the things I was describing about my cat's behavior and telling me that he probably had this or that wrong with him. So I ended up paying $285 for them to tell me that he was perfectly healthy and to NOT get him a rabies shot which he actually really needed and is what I took him in there for in the first place. I'm not bringing him back and I wouldn't recommend bringing your cat here. read more

I took my cat here because she was very sick. Dr. Kirsten Munck told us our previous veterinarian was was incompetent, which, I felt, was very unprofessional. Dr. Munck instilled doubt and regret by telling us, "I wish you would have brought your cat to me earlier." Dr. Munck told that me she would follow up with a treatment plan and call us, but she never did. She gave our cat an antibiotic shot that made her feel sick and not want to eat. Our cat died 3 weeks later. read more

I Took my senior cat to this clinic when he became very sick and stopped eating. The staff and the dr. Kirsten Munck were very nice and helpful to my cat. My cat literally did a complete 180 and was 100% better by the next day, thanks to dr. Munck. She also came in on a Saturday when the clinic wasn't open to check up on my cats progress. I only gave 4 stars because I found this place to have some higher price points than other vets in town. For instance: Deschutes vet clinic starts at $99 for blood work - and this place starts at more than $120. read more

I first visited Colorado Cat Clinic several years ago with my prior cat. I had a good experience back then, so I took my current cat there today for the first time. I appreciate the dog-free environment, as putting my large cat in a cat-carrier is a terrible ordeal for both of us. Dr. Munck's waiting room is soothing, quiet, and dog free, so that I can transport him there securely wrapped in his blanket and then sit in the waiting room with him on my lap rather than stuffed in a box, which is much less traumatizing for him & for me. A previous reviewer stated they were off-put by Dr. Munck's habit of being seated on the floor while discussing the care plan. I actually appreciate her floor-sitting for two reasons: 1) Making yourself small by being seated on the floor allows my cat to feel less threatened by a stranger's presence (as any cat person should know); and 2) I am grateful that she is willing to take the time to sit down while discussing our cat's health & care plan, rather than rush in & rush out in a huge hurry. She is down-to-earth, literally as well as figuratively, and that's a good thing, as far as I am concerned. They took Leon to the back room for his shots, wormer, urine sample, and a blood sample, and they got it done quickly. Half an hour after the visit Leon is home & in a good mood, and I'm not sure why I was so scared to take him to the vet in the first place. This was the least drama we have had in going to the vet in the 2 years I have had him. You'd have to be smoking way too much catnip to leave a one-star review for Dr. Munck. read more

When our cat stopped eating and started losing weight, we took her to Colorado Cat Clinic. We saw Dr. Toogood, who was amazingly gentle with her. He did a thorough examination and ordered some tests to target the problem. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. The medication he prescribed had her eating like normal and playing with her brother within 24 hours. Thanks to Dr. Toogood, we have our cat back to normal! To start off they don't even get One Star!!!!! but i didn't have a choice.. Our Cat Nina was licking herself raw all of a sudden and she needed her shots, instead of taking her to our dog Vet. I chose to take her to an all Cat clinic. thinking i would get great treatment for her. i filled out all my new patient paper work online and also brought in hard copies in case they needed more info. My appointment was for 845 am and as we all know when your a new patient there is always paper work to fill out. i got there 20 minutes early, filled out my paperwork with ten minutes to spare. there was one older man there before me they took him back. i thought great i'm next. then three other people came in after me. i was watch and waiting to be called back. every time the Vet assistant came out the receptionist kept telling them i was next and but they help the three other people before me, by the time they took care of the others it was now 930-945 and i was still waiting to be called for my appointment. so now i feel like they don't care for new patient. i should have walked out..I didn't because my cat needed help. so i finally get called back and as the doctor(Dr.Kirsten Munck) is checking out my cat she asks what i did for a living and i said i'm retired Army and now she is questioning my mental health because i'm retired and i don't have a job to go to everyday. that did not sit very well with me . So $356.38 later my cat still has issues,i got no medication they didn't give her the shots she needed.and they called twice to ask if she is still having problems and to tell me all her test are normal. but bring her in for more test so i can pay another 300 dollars or more for what???? .My first impressions of this place is i will never take my cats here again ever and i will discourage anyone else from doing the same..
