Let my first start out by saying. My husband and I became first time RV owners in 2021. We were so excited with our new purchase that we quickly started looking up campgrounds in our area. That's how we came across one of CRA's sites called KQ Ranch. Being first time campers we absolutely loved the campsite in Julian. We agreed to the sales meeting during our free stay and of course fell for the sales pitch and bought in. I wish I would have taken the time to read the reviews on the member services and reservations system they have in place. For start, the girls that handle the calls are definitely not customer service oriented at all. When you drop a call with them or get disconnected (it's happens often) nobody bothers to call you back. So it's back to sitting on hold again. One girl will tell you one thing and the other has a power trip and makes you call back on a later date. Then if you're tired of being treated with disregard and ask to speak to a manager. They tell you the manager is busy and send you to somebody's voicemail that never calls back. If they had a better member service system in place I would definitely change my review. read more

This company is scandalous. They charge late fees when you mail your payment timely. They don't give you credit for your payment when your check has clearly been cashed and there is nothing you can do about it. I have called and written to them. I called because my check had not cleared my account and the person answering the phone said they have problem getting their mail. So I asked should I send again she said no give it a week, sure enough my check had cleared. I asked if they can review the postmark date on the envelope- I was told we don't keep those. Just a way to scam money from people. Glad I only purchased 7 year not a lifetime membership. Glad I'm paid off. Never again! read more

We are currently new members and honestly we are not impressed we are a young family and it's stupid everything closes early we came to the river and are here for a whole week the bar closes at 6pm they are open from Wednesday to Sunday and then the arcade for kids closes at 4pm during the week the store is only open until 6 pm Sunday- Thursdays and then only open until 8pm Friday and Saturday.....we have e-bikes and we got in trouble for riding them over 5 miles an hour when security was driving their golf carts, way faster and people drive their cars faster than that I feel like we bought into an 80 year old plus location and we're stuck in our stupid timeshare now and can't get out for at least six years I feel like we were sold on false advertisement, false information, especially now that when we bought in it was off-season and now it's on season time at the river it's June and everything is closed so early there is trash everywhere in sites. They do not keep the locations clean and they do not gear around young families. If you are looking for a camping type experience, this is not the place for you if you're a young family. The river water today felt like someone leaked oil or gas into it and security will get all over us about E bikes, but they don't say anything about people zooming into the shore on boats or Sea-Doo's when there are kids in the water kids club also closed extremely early which is why I said I feel like I bought into a 80+ senior citizen community place. If I had my choice, everything would open about seven 8 o'clock in the morning and nothing would close until nine especially since you're at the river during the summer. I was promised a $200 gift card and a $100 Amazon card for attending a one hour meeting. This was a misleading and untrue claim. I have to wait 240 days or 35 weeks and return gas receipts. It's a rebate not a gas card. False claims. Beautiful grounds but unethical practices!! I was told I "would receive a $200 gas card". I set up camping in Santa Barbara thinking I'd get it in hand which was NOT true. It's a rebate but you have to send in 4 receipts spaced out every 60 days. It's BS. When I asked for the card she said "we can't just give out gas cards" was very condescending!!! I still haven't record my $100 Amazon card either. This company sounds good but the fact is they are misleading. I was also given a year free trial membership but has to be one of 4 resorts. I do not recommend falling for this glorified time share program. read more

Not sure why CRA is on yelp twice, so posting my review to both locations to cover all bases. We were invited to stay at Emerald Cove Resort after purchasing our RV from camping world mesa (90 min Colorado river adventure presentation required). The marketing team contacted us within a week of our purchase and set up our weekend. We received our confirmation letter in the mail with the details of our stay dates, qualifications we must meet, and the no obligation "gifts" we would receive. Due to some of the reviews we called ahead to clarify our presentation time, and were told we would be assigned when we got there. The check in was smooth, staff at the resort were nice. We got a paper with out presentation time (operated on AZ time though the park was technically in CA, so watch the time change, they told us this). Overall we were not impressed with the resort. Very crowded, not exceptionally nice but not terrible. The weekend stay alone was worth 90 minutes of our life, so we felt OK with the trade. Thank goodness our sales man was not pushy or rude. He was just matter of fact, explained the membership, and allowed us on our way. Pushy and rude sales people such a poor experience I don't understand why companies allow it. Based on our experience this weekend we may consider CRA in the future vs ruling them out entirely like we have other companies. During our presentation we were told part of our gifts from our purchase was a 20 day membership...which we learned, would only be good for Emerald Cove not any of the other resort. I explained that we were not impressed with Emerald Cove and would've liked to see another resort or 2 (or all) before we would purchase. I don't make it a rule of buying something I can't see 1st. My feedback to CRA would be to open the 20 day stay up to all resorts, and give people a 2nd chance to purchase at the end end it (vs the 2 year ban, based on one 24 hr experience). They did provide us with the "gifts" as promised. They aren't great, and require many many hoops to jump through with risk of not being reimbursed. I added photos so others can see the terms I'm talking about and to see it seems to have been updated since some older reviews. But as I said above, the 1 weekend stay was nice enough to trade for our time this weekend. So the extra gifts being what they are wasn't super disappointing. I would give CRA a 3-4 star review based on our sales experience, original reservation and 1 weekend stay. I ultimately went with 3 because of the lack of exploration you can do of the resorts, the "now or never" sales tactics, and overall unimpressive of the 1 resort we were allowed to see and the "gifts" that are really designed to rope you into more issues. First off let me tell you that this was a free trip and I paid nothing to be here. I purchased a new Grand Design Toyhauler and was given a free trip here with the obligation of an hour and a half sales pitch. The lady that greeted me was really nice and I totally forgot her name. Blonde hair older lady. She was sweet and didn't try pushing me to buy. I'm more of a boondocker and don't like being packed in side by side in a campground. So it isn't for me. This campground has tons of potential and the staff I met was all super friendly. Cons: No 50 amp service in 90 percent of the park. The palm trees all need trimmed and will scratch your rig. The hose bibs in our site all leaked badly so I couldn't keep the water on without flooding my neighbors site. Also I couldn't plug in because the panel was melted so I ran off my custom solar grid I had installed thankfully. A lot of the lights on the light poles were burnt out. Pros: Great staff throughout the property and the location to off-road riding and the river. They really need to put some money into infrastructure and this place could be great! I am grateful for the free stay and just wanted to share my thoughts on how this place could be great again! read more

Keep fighting I would love to do a video with you about these RV timeshare scams. I joined Colorado River Adventures what a joke! They charge you a lot of money and don't uphold their contract! They have brochures showing you all the fun things to do then when you get there parks are far from the water not maintained! One said they had horseback riding when I got there no horses! One park backed up to a storage facility and the hosts were never around! The water was off when I went to take a shower, hot tub not working pool not heated, washing machines broken and clubhouse closed. I payed maintenance fees! When I complained I was now a target! I was told I could pay my fee monthly but when I went to make a reservation I was told I was behind on my maintenance fee. Now I was told I could not pay monthly even though the office set me up on payments. They kept calling and texting me to spend more money on a premium plan. I told them I was not getting what I payed for so they said just stop paying it is a membership if I am not happy. Now they turned me into their hired collection agency! Ruined my good credit! These clubs are a scam you don't save money! read more

The office women that answer the phones are extremely rude and aggressive for no reason. Simply trying to make a reservation. They should not be working customer service with such a hostile attitude. After reading other reviews, I realized it's a very common occurrence. Not sure why the owner has not addressed this issue as it seems to be one of the biggest complaints. It doesn't just happen to us. We don't have any issues with our membership, but it's hard to give any more stars when our first encounters with simply trying to make a reservation is met with such rudeness every single time. read more

My wife and I love using their campgrounds, but when it comes to paying the maintenance fee, the gals that answer the phone are really rude cut you off when you're trying to speak and would not take my payment using my wife's credit card. They charge you an extra $10 for using a credit card And say if you do not want to pay that to send them a check. Who uses checks? Was hung up on twice by Melody and spoke to a different gal. The third time I called her name was Toni, who was a little rude in her own way, and would not give me melody's name contacted Joaquin waiting for a callback. They were super warm and welcoming when we bought in but when trying to pay maintenance fees, they are super rude and hang up on you. they should remember I am a member that is paid in full and was just trying to pay my maintenance fees. If you're into a good 'ol fashioned timeshare presentation, then this place is for you. Some used car salesmanship, a little lying, throw in some bait and switch and insults, and you've got the makings of a perfect CRA extravaganza. They'll tell you all they want you to know to make a snap disinformed decision. DO not, however, dare ask a question or details beyond what they've shared, this is a huge no no. The fine print is unimportant you see. You just have to believe. A little warning though, if you do want to make an informed decision and are mocked for it, don't ask to speak to a manager. That's frowned upon and unavailable. You will get a few gifts worth well over $3 and, as a bonus, the door will hit you in the ass on the way out. Huge kudos to the call center, however, that sets up this escapade. The staff is friendly, courteous and warm. As a bonus they will agree to give you whatever you want or need. They are wonderful. As it turns out however, its super easy to commit to whatever the customer asks for when you have absolutely zero intention of delivering. You could complain but, let's be honest, no one cares... Received call out of the blue, stating I won a RV camping trip, $200 gas, Android tablet and other fun prizes. They claimed it was from Camping World. I went ahead and accepted a stay, but then researched the company. When I asked if there was a presentation, they stated it was an informal 'get together' that was casual and people could go in and out. Camping World advised not to go and it was a scam. Yelpers indicated that service were poor the $200 gas card was a rebate requiring receipts collected over months with unlikely possibility of receiving it. Most indicated the sales pressure was high. Just read the other reports here and Dex and BBB. If you are interested you can book your own stay without a membership at their website. Many other's roped into the thousands of $ timeshare regret. IF you really want the time share you can find people trying to get out and selling it online for less. Canceling, glad I didn't go further than an appointment. read more

We have been members for 23 years. The cabins are a mess . We were given no less then 6 air mattresses, each and everyone had a hole and would not hold air. We needed it as they had put us in a one bedroom and we had asked for a 2 bedroom. . they had given us the wrong cabin. We had driven 6 hours to get there. There were 4 of us and after trying to blow up 6 air mattres that had holes in them , it was 10: 30 pm. They made us move all our stuff to another cabin. My 83 year old husband struggled with this but we moved. We settled in and next day the manager came and told us we needed to move again as the night crew had made another mistake. We were worn out from moving. Instead of moving all our stuff again we packed up and drove home 6 hours away. I sent a letter to management asking that they replace the week we had paid for. We had paid for the cabin, that's all we ever used all year long was the one week in cabin. Answer was no we will not replaced the week you paid for and you could not use. Do not get fooled . They gave me a business, which they endorse - and only endorse this business, to sell my membership. That business took my money and never did a thing. It's a racket. I've been a member since 2007 and really like Emerald Cove and we always stayed in our Motorhome. I'm now divorced and don't have a RV right now so I've been using the cabins. These cabins are nice but not very clean. This didn't work and so we had the staff work to correct some items. The staff was very nice. The trailers that they call cabins are terrible. They are very old, not very clean, you can't sit on the toilet and close the door for privacy. If its cold they give you a small electric heater that doesn't do a very good job and it was cold. My stay in Havasu springs was nicer but there was a smell when I turned on the heater and after I got sick with a respiratory infection I finally found the very dirty filter so I had to leave early. Also there was nothing to do there and no mobile phone service. The coffee pot was dirty and the office had to give me some filters. I wanted to talk to management about these or other items but they do not return their calls. I had just spent $5000 increasing my membership and was told that I good two free weeks of cabin a year and that my contract won't change , but they change my contract and I was charged two cleaning fees.....What a joke as I had to do cleaning myself. I wanted to post pictures but they don't have a way to download here.. Buyer beware that what the sales people tell you can not be trusted to be true and after signing it was too late to cancel. read more

My experience at Emerald Cove - let me start off my experience this week July 15 thru July 22nd at this resort. 117 degrees most of my stay. 2nd day at about 2:30 am lost power in the entire site. Power and water out the entire day. In a trailer so imagine what that's like if you have animals/small children/elderly people with you. This happens all the time here. Also sewage issues all the time. Sewage back up and overflows so be prepared to tolerate the smell throughout the site and not be able to use the bathrooms or dump your trailer if they don't fix it for days. Moved to a cottage on Monday. Manager Tim told office he was going to inspect trailer before we could go in. After long hot day went to take a shower and the shower did not work. Had to wait until next day for someone to come fix it. Maintenance replaced a filter which gave us water but only hot. Called again they came back out next day said it needed a mixing valve for shower but did have one. Never saw or heard from them after that. Office said had to talk to Tim the manager to address my concerns. He was not in all week. Came in Thursday. Went to speak to him and he told me that they don't have cold water there. The showers are like that. All trailers are the same. He doesn't have cold water at his house either. I shouldn't expect to have cold water. I explained what the so called maintenance workers did to fix shower issue and he continued to argue about what they don't do there and basically was telling me I was lying about everything I was saying. Then after our heated argument he wanted me to go show him again the issue and discuss it further. Needless to say I was so upset about how rude and aggressive he was towards me that I decided I finally won't come back. I talked to store employees and 2 of them said to me and my in laws, who were there with me, that they do not like Tim either. And several other employees were extremely rude and one store person was crying when we went in after the power outage night because she was stressed out stating she did not want to be there in front to customers. I've been coming here for well over 20 years and this place is now officially at its worst. You will get talked into paying $14000 for a membership. But be prepared. You will rarely get a cottage because they are always booked. But while you are there you we see that nobody is staying in most of them. The cottage they will show you is new. Not the run down ones with broken faucets, broken showers, etc. they will promise beachfront sites but they have oversold so many memberships through the years that you will rarely get anything they promises. And you can barely find room on the beaches or to park your boat because always so crowded. I have camped my whole life at hundreds of campgrounds and never dealt with someone in management as rude as Tim. All I asked is that they waive my $50 fee for my week stay for the inconvenience. Guess that was to much for them. I have worked in the customer service industry most of my life and would never treat someone like this. I will not be back. And will continue to share my experience online and hopefully help prevent many others from getting conned into paying $14-$15k for less and less each time you visit. Since we started coming here over 20 years ago this place has continually gone down hill and now at its worse. I know there are many others that also have been members over 30 years and get treated horribly also. For all those out there going through this please share the truth about Emerald Cove. We have just spent the last four days at Ghost Mountain. We had a fabulous time with our friends who are members. Unfortunately CRA have no clue. I would not trust anything they say. Our sales presentation was awesome but unfortunately this company is untrustworthy. We were promised a cabin to accommodate four adults by CRA only to find an old trailer that would accommodate two adults. Our two other friends had to now rent a trailer to stay in. My husband could not use the bathroom in the trailer as it was so small. The plastic covered bed mattress was three inches thick, similar to a cot mattress with coils. There was a stove top but no oven. As we had seen pictures of the cabin that we were supposed to be in, we had bought food to cook with the assumption that there would be pots and pans. I seriously do no blame Ghost Mountain as they seemed shocked by the utter lies from CRA. Also, don't let them get you with their $200 gift. If you you call CRA all they will do is pass the buck. We got a "free" 1 year membership when we bought a new RV. IT IS A SCAM, top to bottom. You get a time share like 90 minute " tour" . It is a hard sell to buy a lifetime membership and if you sit through this you get a tablet amd a $200 gift card from Shell. The tablet is awful amd cheap and didn't work at all and the charger caught on fire. The Shell gift card is also a joke, you have to buy a bunch of Shell products over a 9 month period and the offer expires before you can complete the process. SCAM!!! Do not waste your time!!! Like everyone else, we were promised a $200 gas card (that we did not receive) in return for sitting through the 90 minute sales pitch (ended up being 3hrs). Once we told the sales rep we were not interested at the time, they couldn't get us out of the building fast enough. As a result of not falling for the high pressure sales pitch we were told we were prohibited from purchasing a new membership from them or even a used membership from a private party for 2 years as punishment. We packed our travel trailer and left immediately after the sales presentation as we were treated poorly as a result of not purchasing the time share style membership. I'm at a California property for 3 days free camping to attend the presentation on the memberships offer. I thought the perks were nice. I could even agree with the one time, 3 levels of membership fees and the $500 maintenance yearly fees. What I can't agree with is the fact that I would have to make a decision immediately after the presentation is over and if I decline, I could never buy a membership with this company. RED FLAG!!! This means I couldn't go over the contract with ease until I signed it! And I'm supposed to blindly sign documents involving money over $10,000.00! This is the practice I won't deal with! Pressuring people to sign a 10 thousand dollar PLUS document/agreement without even thinking about it is some shady business! RUN PEOPLE RUN! I did get the free tablet lol and I recd a $200 Shell Gas Rebate Certificate that expires in 240 days from date of issue. You have to purchase gas at Shells gas station only. Rebate is $50 or less per receipt. Receipt must be 60 days apart. Lol. Do the math. Lol. I gave 2 stars because I like what they offered. I gave 3 empty stars for being shady! read more

We bought into CRA in 2021. We have now been on the road for over 15 months. A lot of the time, winter, in Emerald Cove. First let me say, do not under any circumstances believe what the salesperson tells you, they lie. The reservation people either do not know what they are talking about, or they are lying, most of the employees, I have dealt with, always have a different take on "the rules." which leads to complete misinformation and then when you call them on it, they say, "oh no that's not in the contract" and "we never said that." When we bought in it was high pressure, can't leave until you sign up for their "timeshare." And some of the facilities are garbage. Ghost Mountain Ranch for instance, that was our "home" resort. Last time we were there, the place looked like a homeless encampment. Havasu Springs, smallest sites I have ever seen. Bottom Line don't fall for the glossy pictures and the lying salespeople. Example, the salesperson actually wrote down a lot of the specious information he told us. But then conveniently "forgot" to include the copies in our "package." 15 minutes later we went back to get them and Poof they had disappeared. The latest incident happened when we stayed for our "week-out" at Havasu Springs. I was told by the supervisor at Emerald Cove that if we did not want to pay the $149.95 for the week out, we could go to one of the parks we had not stayed at yet. I called CRA reservations and spoke with them and they confirmed, Then I spoke with the folks at Havasu Springs, (not an easy task I might add) they told me the same thing. A month after we stayed there, we were attempting to make another reservation for Ghost Mountain Ranch. After spending the better part of an hour trying to reach "member services" (I use that title ironically) I was told that my account was not in good standing and I could not make a reservation. Also, we never received an email, text or call about the outstanding bill. They could not tell me why or transfer me to someone who could. I called another number and waited on hold again, to be told that we had to pay for our week out in Havasu Springs. Never mind that I had spoken to multiple people, cleared it with three different employees, I had to pay If I wanted to make any further reservations. A close reading of one of the multitude of documents we got when we signed up, "Havasu Springs" is not listed as one of the resorts that you can use as your week out. Again, it is possible to use this membership to live on the road, just be ready to be lied to, misinformed and disillusioned. read more

If your considering to purchase membership, Don't do it the main person in their billing office named Toni is a real tool, she's rude doesn't return phone calls and has zero compassion, during Covid my husband lost his job, I asked to extend our contract, she would not negotiate terms at all, we could not use our membership due to mandated lock down, and loss of income, it's pretty sad when mortgage company's will work with you, but an RV timeshare is cold and heartless. Soon as the ink is dry on contract their attitude change, the parks are mediocre at best, the only people who really benefit from their membership is full time RVers, that jump from park to park. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY! After purchasing a new travel trailer in October, I received weekly phone calls asking for me to come out to take a tour of the campground and I would receive 20 free nights over the first year, a tablet, a gas reimbursement card, etc. I made my appointment, took the day off from work, and drove 2 hours out to their Julian campground (KQ Ranch) today to take the tour and was not even allowed in the park. During the phone call, the guy on the phone asked who I normally camped with and I told him my fiancé. Well, when I showed up, they said since my fiancé wasn't with me, I could no longer come in. The staff at the front booth did not care about how long it took, or why her name was on the tour, and they did not allow me in. I ended up pulling off to the side of the road and called the main corporate office (Colorado River Adventures) and told what had happened and that I was waiting on the side of the road, because I had driven so far and wanted to be able to take the tour still. The representative on the phone said they would take care of it right away and the manager would call me right back. After 45 minutes of waiting, I gave up and drove the 2 hours back home. Glad I did, because it's now been 3 hours, and still no phone call back. Don't waste your time with this place. The staff is not helpful at all. As someone who camps twice a month, I can easily say there are way better places to take your family, where the staff is actually appreciative and helpful. read more

SIERRA in the Colorado River Adventures Sales Department located within Emerald Cove RV Resort in Earp, California alongside the Colorado River is quite possibly the best informed and most pleasant sales person both my husband and I have ever spent time listening to. She is light-hearted and listens well to questions or an important need for her to repeat a key phrase until we gained clarity on any subject. It was interesting that there was none of the expected push for a sale in her demeanor. Great experience! We look forward to seeing her from time to time. We joined CRA nearly 3 years ago and upgraded very recently. We REALLY like all what our membership with CRA means to our well-being and happiness as F/T RVers. We only began making use of our CRA membership a couple of months ago and thus far we have not been disappointed by the reservations process nor 6 of the 10 resorts. We will visit the other 4 resorts later this year. We're currently in one of their Arizona resorts as we write this review. Let the good times roll! read more

My wife and I went to Emerald Cove to sign documents. We purchased another members membership and went to transfer ownership We met with Sierra Beaver and she was more than helpful. She explained everything in detail as to what we were getting. While I had read a lot of the negative reviews, I seen very little of the items posted. We had to go to Emerald Cove in Earp, CA to do the transfer, and after signing the papers we drove around and campground was not crowded at all. We did go to 2 other resorts of theirs and one was closed and we finally found the other one and they were also not crowded. We will continue to explore other resorts, and especially Ghost Mountain as it is closer to our house. Overall I felt it is a good value for what I paid, especially since we like to camp a lot. read more

Do not buy this!!! I hope that people read all these before they go. I unfortunately didn't and now we got taken for $10,000. All the reviews are correct. I'm not sure about the tablet, because we weren't offered one. We were told about all sorts of perks, but none were available when we went to use them. We were told that we could get a site within 24hrs and that we had 3 weeks in and 1 week out, but when we went to do that 1 month before we were going they said no spots were available. How is that if we are guaranteed a spot up to 24hrs before? That was our plan and we were never able to use it that way. Then after a year they had someone come out to our city and take new pictures for the cards and then try to sell us something more. I understood that our membership wasn't going to change, but then the sales guy talked so fast it was hard to understand. If anyone would like to go after these people, please let me know. I would like to be part of a class action lawsuit. read more
