We stayed here 2 nights for the Parker River Float. The campground is very clean. It was luxurious having electric and water hookups for our 5th wheel. We felt sorry for the tent campers in the 115° heat. We stayed in Space #23 on the end and closest to the water. The tent campers line the grassy cove. The cove leads to a short sandy beach that is protected from the wake of the river boats. In the morning we hiked up the trail on the mountain side to the chairs. Incredible views of the river. There's a grassy dog area, boat ramp, 2 public bathrooms, cactus garden, dump for the RV waste and the rangers were nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. read more

The best maintained campground I have ever been to. Right at the beginning of the river, there are a few nice hiking trails and a fenced in dog park. Bathrooms are plentiful and clean and they have free showers. RV with hookups and tent camping. Also have their very own dump station. Right down the street is a deli and mini mart. Like I said probably the nicest campgrounds I have ever camped in. read more

Very clean, small state park on the Colorado River. They have large RV and tent camping spaces. There is a gift store, camp host, restrooms and full hookups. There is a nice little boat ramp into a cove next to a small island in the middle of the river. The park is downstream from the Parker Dam and the flow of the river varies based on the power needs of the area. You can look up the flow rates at the government Parker Dam website. Usually it is at it's lowest levels over night, and moderate level between high flows. Usually high flow is early morning and afternoon and is about 8x faster than the overnight flow. Moderate is about 3x faster than low flows. Keep your boat above the high water level. The park is located between two cliffs and has hiking that goes back to the other near state park. You can get awesome views of the river and over the park. There are abandoned mines to explore. There are lots of birds and around the river. I did not see much wild life in January. If on the river just passed the island on the upriver side there is a sunken boat. The water is very cold about 48 degrees all year. Lots of RV parks above and below the park. Kayaking is nice up and down, but going upriver gets pretty hard about a half mile up river. Nice place read more

Payed $10 for a day pass. There were tons of trails through the desert with really nice views. Didn't explore a lot because our kiddos were tired and the trails were not super easy (a lot of lose rock). It is hike at your own risk and the trail information board was blank (covid times maybe?). There is a small beach but nothing like the ones around London bridge so don't come here just for the beach. Unless we come with kayaks - we probably won't visit again. read more

Just got back from spending a couple of nights here. When I made the reservation I was the only tent camper, and there were 3-4 RV spots reserved. The first night was quiet with one family next to us. Saturday a HUGE group of 20-30 people took over almost the entire tent camping area with their giant stereo, lit up EVERYTHING with what looked like night-time highway construction lighting, and lined the beach with staked fishing rods. The campground was nice, and clean, including the bathrooms, -that is until the large group showed up; after that I found toilet paper all over the bathroom and smeared handprints in what looked like feces on several walls. The cove area and beach were very nice. I did a bit of hiking around from the campground, which was also nice. Overall we liked the campground and the spot. In spite of this I don't know that I'll visit the campground again. Perhaps the presence of water and electricity at each camp spot is a strong draw to those super-obnoxious campers that ruin trips for everyone around them. I will definitely be looking for dry or primitive camping first the next time I want to visit the area, no matter the time of year. read more

We've stayed at River Island State Park in our travel trailer twice now. While the campground is advertised by the state to be great for tents, I think it is really nice for RV's, too. Flat, paved sites have water and electric. No sewer hookup, but a dump station is available. The RV campground is set in-between rock cliffs. The tent sites are near the river under large established shade trees on grass. The Colorado River flows right by the campground. The water is very cool as it is just south of the Parker Dam. The beach is set in a cove that keeps it away from the main current of the river. However, there is still a fairly strong current that bends back through the cove. It is advisable to keep children close to shore. The "beach" isn't much of a beach at all when the water is up. The dam releases more flow in the afternoon, so the beach ends up under water. There is a steep dirt hill leading down to the river that can't be used for sitting or setting up a canopy. Canopies are actually set up in the water. It is a popular day use area as well with the large boat ramp. Plenty of room to beach a boat or jet ski if the beach isn't crowded (on a 110 degree summer week day you may be the only one in the park!). The showers and bathrooms are clean, particularly the building that is towards the front of the park away from the beach. The supplied water can be very warm right out of the tap in the summer. I didn't even have to light the LP water heater. One more note: it is ALWAYS windy here, and really all up and down the Colorado River corridor. The dust devils in the afternoon can get pretty crazy. I really would've loved to have the awning out to keep the sun off the camper, but not with the gusts that blow through. Both times we've visited we've seen a canopy at the beach go flying away. read more

BEWARE! The water way while entering/exiting the launch ramp can be super shallow. Was there on a Friday when the water level is actually high and we sucked up a bunch of rocks while coming back in to the launch ramp. No buoys to warn you. Nothing. Water is so murky couldn't see the ground in the middle of the of the water until we hit it and sucked rocks into the pump. When we got to the ramp found another boat there that also sucked up rocks. We have a jet and it was bad. Would be even worse if you had a propeller. They really need to maintain the waterways in front of the property and launch ramp. You can seriously mess up your boat due to lack of proper buoys to warn the boaters. Would not recommend to anyone! read more

This was our first time here. Camped for Labor Day Weekend and it was not to busy at all. There is a little cove area for lots of water play that is just off the river, so it's good it you have small children. The ranger was super nice and the fellow campers were not loud and belligerent like you would expect on a holiday weekend. We took our travel trailer and had full electric and water hook ups but decided to use their showers one of the days because they were nice. Free to use the showers and they were pretty clean. Our camp site was just about a 30 second walk to the water and there is a boat launch area next to beach. Also room for tent campers on a grassy lawn. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the hill to get down to the beach area is quit steep and with small kids is hard to get down without slipping. (We had a 5yr old, 2yr old and 6 month old. All in all we had a great time and would definitely return There is no store on the camp grounds but a little spot just across the street for gas beer and food. read more

I'm a little hesitant on leaving this review because I want to be selfish and keep this gem a secret. This staff was here outstanding and (incredibly) completely volunteer based. The bathrooms were spotlessly cleaned every morning and the property was kept just as pristine. I can't begin to imagine the amount of work completed behind the scenes. Trust me- I saw those same bathrooms mid evening ravished with toilet paper, hair, and a few other nasties I didnt want to get close enough to identify. On our second day I walked to the main building for wifi help and proceeded to watch Ginny gracefully juggle multiple complex situations. It was obvious she was going to great lengths to disguise a highly disorganized establishment. When I returned to my campesite, Dean was already there going above and beyond to throughly fix an electrical problem. From his cheerful smile and patience you'd never guess that he was working in the midst of mayham. Dean & Ginny, thank you so much for volunteering your time to make our vacation memorable. We had an exceptional stay due to your hard work and dedication. read more

Very nice rv park! A little noisy next to the road but the set up is good. The beach is very sloped and not much of it. We wanted to kayak but the current right in front of the island is not conducive to kayaks. There are bathrooms and showers. The showers near the beach are by far better than the ones up front. Would stay here again if in the area. Oh be advised. Cell service is very sketchy even tho they offer a wifi link. You will not receive texts only emails. We didn't care but those that want to constantly stay connected may not like it. read more

This is a nice RV/Camp spot. The Rangers and volunteers take good care of the grounds and the bathrooms. There are 2 bathrooms, one at the front where there is a large picnic/day area and one near the back and the riverfront. There is a boat launch and access to a few hiking trails. There is also a fenced in dog park where you can let your dogs off leash. read more

We stayed here for a Thursday night in May 2015. Our initial experience was good. We arrived later in the evening. Our tent spot was easy to find, and the bathroom facilities were clean. It was very windy on our lakeside tent site, which died down later at night. Unfortunately the 10pm quiet time is not enforced, and there was a huge group of middle age RVers who were partying until 3am, complete with driving their ATVs in the parking lot and running chainsaws. The next morning, we were greeted with an apologetic ranger who said he would do what he can to make things right, and said to call the reservation line to get my money back for the night. After arriving home, I called the park and was denied all compensation! read more

Nice campground and facilities, got into the campsite they gave me and, after dark a lady (Elaine I think) from a company called Gadventures came in with a group of about a dozen people in a van (see below) and trailer and took up about 6 sites. She kicked me out of my site, said she had reserved it, didn't show any paper work and the ranger later told me they had not booked it. Rude. We stayed here for three days during March 2015 and thought the campground was wonderful! All the sites have water, electric, a picnic table, and grill. The tent camping spaces are right near the water with easy access to the beach. The rangers are friendly. The bathrooms have hot water and were cleaned regularly. Our three kids had a blast. The campsite is very dog-friendly, and it has a dog run. In March, the weather was lovely, with highs in the 80's and low's in the 60's. The wind picks up in the evening, so make sure your tent is secure. We also did some hiking at nearby Buckskin Mountain State Park - it was a great week and we'll be back! read more
