This is what I've been waiting for! After weeks of finally making the time to stop by this local bakery in my neighborhood, I'm so happy I did! I went today around 10am, with no line, and plenty of pastries - including ones fresh out the oven. The staff were so welcoming and I left with almost one of everything. Don't have the names down yet, but the peach pastry was my fave (so far)! For anyone complaining about them selling out too early, give them a break. They just opened, so I'm sure they're just testing out their customer base for production needs! :) read more

By far the best croissant sandwiches ever. The service is always great, there's always a line because it's so worth the short wait. The merch is pretty cool too. The coffees and teas are really excellent. If you're looking for a bacon egg croissant that's flaky, delicious, fluffy, and crispy, these girls are making the real deal! I cannot say enough good about Colossus. I live around the corner and was excited when a bakery was coming to the neighborhood. They exceeded expectations. Everything they make is absolutely incredible. The way they have handled this year has really shown what a great team they are. They have safely continued to bring amazing treats, and even grocery items, to the neighborhood and all their fans. Recently I also emailed the owner to see if they were able to make a cake for my boyfriends 40th birthday. She accommodated my requests and the cake was not only delicious but was gorgeous. If you haven't been you must come to the shop or find them at a farmers market (they even have a new shop location coming soon). Thank you to all the Colossus staff! read more

Their oatmeal bread - a whole loaf shaped like sandwich bread- was pretty tasty the day I bought it, but then it toasted the next day so amazingly! I sliced it up and froze the rest and continued to have some of the best toast of my life. A little crunchy on the out side and a beautiful doughy texture inside. Just a little butter and jam or almond butter on top and it's heaven. Very nice customer service! read more

The absolute friendliest and helpful people work here. I love that they keep track of any addresses I've shipped to so if I want to send something they can just look it up in their system. I am pretty lame and will being stuff in that's not boxed up and they box it so it's safe to travel and secure. I absolutely love going here for any shipping needs. They are the best! read more

We stopped by while waiting for our burrito next door: it became one of the best surprises in the SouthBay. This little bakery is one of the best bakeries in the South Bay: the croissant is flaky and delicious. The various flavored bakery items embrace their add-on: when you get an almond croissant, you not only taste the almond, you taste toasted almond meld with slightly toasted croissant crust. Combined, this simple pastry gives you an warm nutty flavor missing among other places that just decorate the bakery with nuts. Here, nuts is the star and its accented to the foreground. Delicious. This place is a staple and a blessing to San Pedro. We need a lot more businesses like this! My favorite thing there is the ham and cheese croissant. They also have wonderful sourdough that tastes amazing toasted. The coffee is great too. I love this place and all they do for the community. read more

I feel so lucky to have Colossus close to home. This cute little bakery tucked away in a residential neighborhood at 23rd and Alma sits next to Choriman (another incredible San Pedro business!) and serves the most amazing breads and pastries. Seriously you can taste that everything is baked with so much love!! Their croissants are incredible. The traditional and pain au chocolat are must haves for me every time I stop by. Oh, and I love that they do rotating pastries using seasonal ingredients! They rotate selections pretty often so there's always something new to try. Colossus is such a community gem in San Pedro. Man this place is the jam. We are officially obsessed. Such a cool little neighborhood spot offering interesting takes and flavors on all things bakery, plus stalwarts like croissants and brioche. Their menu rotates a lot which is a fun excuse to eat all the carbs! Favorites so far: vegan olive oil chocolate cake, kuign aman, cumin olive bread, brioche burger rolls, prosciutto and Brie croissant, pistachio croissant. Second visit and I'm in Latte Love with the "Lavender Caramel Latte" omgsh if you guys like the caramel, toffee flavor you will love this! Better than Starbucks. I am addicted to their bread. Every single one! Fabulous taste and perfect "tooth feel." I've also ordered some of their specials - like their apple pie at Christmas. It was about 4" tall and stuffed with perfectly spiced and cooked apples. Makes me look forward to next Christmas! read more

When my mom visits from Santa Barbara, the first thing she wants is a scone from Colossus (citrus, savory...they are alll delicious with the perfect scone texture). Yummy! What a special little treat today. My colleagues and I stopped in this morning to celebrate a work anniversary and check this place out. We ordered iced coffee drinks, pastries to eat right away and fresh baked bread to take home later. Boy were we impressed with the quality of everything! It was so good, we're hoping to make this a regular (maybe monthly?) trip together just so we can have a chance to try everything on the menu. Due to COVID there is currently no seating available but they're located close to the water and we were able to drive a few blocks to a park and enjoy our pastries along with the ocean view. Wow the pastries were amazing - I got the curry hand pie and the ham & greyere croissant. The hand pie was super flaky on the outside with a pleasant (not too overpowering) curry on the inside. The ham & greyere hit the spot- the ham added a nice salty flavor and the greyere paired nicely. I'd go again ! read more

I was torn on whether or not to right this review. I hate leaving bad reviews especially now but here I go. I will say ordinarily I love colossus and will make out of the way trips to the farmers markets to snag cookies. So I did not hesitate to order an Apple pie for thanksgiving. It was not the quality I expected for colossus. The execution was incredibly poor. It required extensive searching below a burnt crumble and crust to locate the apple. It was basically inedible. It felt like an incredible waste of money and a half slice in we had to throw it away because no one wanted to eat it. After this experience I don't know if I could return. I will say people should give them a try but it put a huge black mark on my future likelihood to return. read more

Their naturally leavened bread is over if the only places that makes real bread. All of their ingredients are you notch and you can really taste the difference! The pastries are made with no shortcuts, croissants, Kouign Amann... Oh and my beloved tea birknes! Please bring it back! People need to realize what a little miracle that pastry is! Colossus is such a great addition to the South Bay! Bummer that people get upset at them selling out of items, it just means they're that good. Everything is scratch made and delicious. They also serve Heart coffee out of Portland, anyone who knows coffee knows that Heart is one of the best in the game right now. I don't even live in San Pedro, but I will gladly make the drive to go to Colossus - it's worth it! There's no shortage of bakeries in LA but Colossus is exceptional. Their pastries (savory scones!), breads (olive and cumin omg), and drinks (seasonal sodas are such a treat) are actually all awesome. So happy my local friends shared some Colossus treats with me months ago because otherwise probably wouldn't have ever discovered this gem of a business!
