Quickly stopped by for a Friday morning pick-me-up. It wasn't busy, but there was a steady stream of people coming in one after each other. The parking is a bit off putting as there are limited spaces and the lot itself is small. I was almost hit by a larger car suddenly pulling out of their spot, so be careful! My sister got a small Strawberry Vanilla Latte ($~7, looks about 16 oz) and service was efficient. I had a few sips of her drink, and it instantly made me think of Nesquik strawberry milk mixed with espresso. I thought the sweetness was at a good level, but I could see it being borderline too sweet if you have a whole drink to yourself. I really liked the unexpected nostalgia factor, and the drink itself was very pretty. The interior is intricately decorated, with little signs and knick knacks everywhere you look. My favorite part was the community resource wall! It was completely filled with flyers (some bilingual) and there was a shelf with stacks of business cards from professionals of all industries. I also spotted a "Know your rights" poster on one of the counters. In a time where new coffee shops seem to be popping up every other day, it's heartwarming to see one that is actively giving back to the community. Ambrosia has by far the best specialty coffee drinks in town. I go a few times a week and love how consistent the coffee is, never too sweet or bitter. I was disappointed though, the last few times I've been, with the service. Was not greeted or spoken to when ordering, unsure if they realize how far a simple hello or what can get for you goes. Definitely noticed the artwork when I walked in. Cute little spot. I was able to order and get great recommendations from the barista. Almost decided on the Vietnamese iced coffee but I wanted to try something different, yet still strong. I asked and was recommended the Spanish latte. So I got that and added in a pump of vanilla. So mad that I slept on this place for so long. I have seen this place on several Wilmington groups that I follow and just never made it down there. Went for a walk at the waterfront park and decided to finally stop by. I had their Vietnamese, coconut coffee and strawberry Matcha. The Vietnamese coffee hit so hard. It was the perfect blend of coconut and coffee. Not too overpowering. I could not put it down. The Matcha was delicious as well, but honestly, I couldn't think of anything else, but the Vietnamese coffee. Parking is limited and it can be a little sketch outside. Inside is very cozy plenty of seating. The staff was very friendly. The person who took my order wasn't very welcoming, I wasn't acknowledged when I walked in and got a very quiet hello after I made eye contact with him and after I said hello first. As far as the inside, it was nice, it had a fun environment. The drinks were ok, I've had better matcha that tastes like high quality matcha. Though I would love to give them a better review, I'm afraid that their pick-up window for preorders has an obstructed view, so I often get ignored while I wait for my drink. It has happened on many occasions and to recall a time I just went to the register first because of this issue, the young girl gave me a smart ass response about waiting by the pick-up window... This is a really nice, chill spot to hang out or do work at. I enjoyed the ambiance and aesthetics of the shop. There is limited parking in the small lot in front. I tried the almond agave latte because their alternative milks are really pricey at $1.25 extra cost. I thought the drink was solid, it tasted pretty watery at first from the melted ice but it was better after mixing. The space has plenty of seating whether you're there to work, study, meeting, or just relaxing. There is a lot on the menu to choose from, but wether you come hungry or thirsty you are guaranteed to find something you like. The cortado was smooth and very spot on. I'd recommend it to anyone. Pastries were very delicious, muffins were full of nuts not just on top but in every bite and they come from an amazing nonprofit organization. That Bánh mì sandwich had a bread that tasted so fresh, good-quality, soft inside with the perfect crunch on the outside. Spanish latte was just okay for me; I wasn't a huge fan of the syrup they used, and it didn't have any cinnamon (not sure if I needed to ask for it). Customer service: It did take a little while to get served and get my order down but totally worth the wait. Most busy places would notice you and say, we will be with you in a minute, but here I had two girl in the back notice me and kept working on drinks and other kept cleaning, Shoutout to Ethan who was an awesome barista who saw me and had great customer service. There are a few places nearby to choose from and this time around we went with Ambrosia , located in a teeny, tiny, very small shopping center in Wilmington. Ambrosia is a little gem and absolutely worth it. Definitely a major upgrade to the neighborhood. They have a nice assortment of beverage offerings to choose from. We've come here before and so far it's always been a good choice. You can even make a little artwork on a post-it while you wait, then post it on the short counter wall. A couple days ago was my first time at Ambrosia Coffee with my best friend. I got the Strawberry Matcha Latte it was very good and tasty. I also got a Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich which was bomb. WOW!!!!! Im not sure what to say. I've driven by this place mostly when it was closed. ( after hours) I thought this was just another closed small business. I happened to see a post mentioning his place on IG. I immediately bookmarked it. I visited on. Sunday morning the parking lot was full but I found parking on the street. There was a small line but we were quickly helped. I had looked at the menu before hand and sadly what I saw was not on the menu. I mentioned I saw a vanilla caramel latte on the menu online and was excited to try it. She mentioned they can still make it. I was so excited. My son looked over the menu and inquired about the Spanish Latte and ended up ordering a small. Our drinks came out quick even with the number of people that were in line. My coffee was AMAZING!!!! Ambrosia Cafe is a gem tucked in a little strip mall. Approaching the entrance, its outward appearance can be offsetting. Once you enter however, you'll find that the interior is warm, cozy and inviting. Staff is friendly, attentive and welcoming. We ordered three drinks - Iced Spanish Latte (not pictured), Iced Wildberry Hibiscus Tea, and Iced Pumpkin Spice Sweet Cream Matcha. All three drinks were a hit and delicious! The hibiscus tea was refreshing (even on a fall day) Spanish latte was a perfect classic - creamy, with the right amount of sweetness and spice. Their seasonal fall drink was good too! Matcha wasn't grassy in flavor (although a deep matcha flavor is my personal preference). The food and pastries were delicious too. The bahn mi bread and bagel bread were SO, soft and fluffy. The baguette wasn't cutting the roof of my mouth like I've had at other Vietnamese places. The bagel was soft and fluffy but with just enough bagel chewiness. The only thing missing is a larger parking area - not in their control but figured it's worth mentioning since it's a tight space & may be filled up when you pull in! Whenever I'm back in town, I HAVE to go to ambrosia. When I have guests over and they want coffee, I take them here. Ambrosia has such a unique and wide selection of coffee and they're all delicious. Their horchata latte, Spanish latte, and coconut Vietnamese coffee are some of my favorites. The workers are all really chill and nice and sometimes (I believe the owner is John) will give me a shot on the house because he's just for the community!! It's a beautiful space inside with plenty of space to work, lounge, stick up post-its :) the only thing is that the wifi never works for me as much as I've tried trouble shooting it but that doesn't stop me from coming here haha. read more
