Not impressed. Our server Julian who never gave us his name, was one of the worst servers i have ever encountered. He told us he was serving for 3 years and acted like he was a brand new server. Started with the fact he had no idea how much a glass of wine was!!! You worked here for 3 years and you have no idea what a glass of wine cost???? He told us it was "like $6.25 a glass". I said, there are 6 wines, you mean they are all $6.25? He didnt know... i said while you go back please find out what a bottle of wine is, specifically the Robert Mondavi.... He came back and said the Mondavi was $8.75( not close to the $6.25 he said) asked what the bottle was... he had to go back and ask again, He came back and said "somewhere between $20 and $30. I said that is a big difference, can you tell me the exact price for the Mondavi wine. Finally came back and said $30. (This guy says he has been here 3 years!?!?) WTF!?!? We got our salad and wine eventually. Ate the salad and started the second glass of wine when i had to flag him down and ask if we were supposed to get some bread, oh yeah he says. During all this time he never came to ask us how we were doing or if we needed anything. Asked him about the special they advertised in a BIG sign out side but nothing on the menus told you about the shrimp trio special, he told us about it. Mom ordered the shrimp trio and i ordered the NY steak medium. Mom and i sat and drank our wine and talked. Food came and my steak was well done. (Knew it was not going to be good sending it back). Sent it back anyway, why pay $30 for something that is not right? He left me with my green beans and potato which i ended up eating because i was starving and it took 12 mins to get my steak. By the time the steak came i was no longer hungry so i got a box to take my steak home. (Had two bites and it was tough and stringy). We just paid a lot of money for stuff i didnt even get to eat in the restaurant! Soooo disappointing!! Had to once again call Julian over to ask for boxes and a bill. Not once did Julian come over by himself once we gave him our order. No the restaurant was not full or overly busy, LOTS of empty tables. No desire to ever return here. So disappointing. Looked forward to a wonderful meal with my mom and it was nothing but aggravating! read more

Amazing server! Amazing food , but the best part is that my kid actually eats. He is such a picky eater so much so that it is downright annoying. But he absolutely loves the barbecue chicken! Not only does he eat, but he eats it all. That and of course the rolls Every time we go there that is the only thing he gets. And now my other son is obsessed with them as well. Let me preface this review with the fact that we know the difference in chain restaurants vs fine dining so if you're looking for a perfectly cooked steak and quiet atmosphere you're in the wrong place. We had a table of 4 at 5:15 pm on a Thursday after Christmas and were sat immediately with no wait. Our server was very attentive, refilling our drinks and bringing peanuts. She even brought us a basket FILLED with warm soft rolls and several containers of whipped butter. Even though we were 2 adults and 2 kids she made sure we had plenty of food. We had the kids split a chicken tender kids meal which had 2 large tenders and steak fries. Adult meals ordered was a house salad with ranch and fried chicken, and a ribeye steak with side salad and baked potato. The salads were good with crunchy croutons, however the steak that was ordered medium came out gray all the way through. It was still tender but it was as thin as a pancake which is not appropriate when a customer orders a ribeye and not worth the 26.99 price tag that came with it. It was more similar to a flank steak cut. Regardless we enjoyed the meal and service. Would have earned more stars if the steak was even close to what we expected, sadly it was far from. read more

Tried this place for the first time, after getting a coupon in the mail. The atmosphere is nice, typically, country, steak house feel. The waitress was nice and did a great job. The food was pretty good, I got blackened salmon and some of my family members got steak, hamburgers and cheesy fries and all said it was decent eating. It is very pricey but that is to be expected with a steak house. Nice place overall. read more

My son cannot afford a steak like a New York Strip, so when he comes to visit my wife and I like to take him out to have one (it stretches our budget, but he is our child). The last few times we have been to Colton's in Mountain Home, the steak we were served had more fat and gristle than meat. The first time this happened we assumed it was just an oversight, but when much the same thing happened on a subsequent visit it seemed clear to me something was wrong. When we complained about it, we were essentially told a New York Strip was supposed to be mostly fat since that is where it got its flavor. We have not been back. read more

Ordered the shrimp, it looked & smiled delicious. My first bite was dipped in cocktail sauce (plain ketsup) so pushed the ketchup aside. I asked for cocktail sauce again, ketchup. Wait was just over 30 minutes for a table of 6. Wait for our food was almost an hour. Luckily there were peanuts to crack. We enjoy this steak house but the wait was longer than normal on a Friday night. Kids were hungry and our waitress was super at keeping our drinks full- she just didn't have control over the kitchen. Once our food came out it was great as expected. Out of the chicken fried steak VS chicken. We preferred the chicken fried chicken to the steak. Mashed potatoes and pepper gravy are real good. Food was not good. Extremely salty and overcooked to the point of being burned. My steamed vegetables were burned on the ends of the broccoli and extremely dry as they microwaved them too long (that's how veggies are cooked in the chain restaurants )Table not wiped when they sat us at it. There were many empty tables where stacks of dirty dishes sat. Our server was very nice but she went waaayyyy overboard checking on us every couple of minutes to the point it was annoying and constantly asking us if we needed something or trying to push another menu item on us. Very nice staff. Probably the worst steak I've ever had. Ordered the ribeye. When it came, I thought they made a mistake. It was really thin, lots of grissel and fat on the edges, the meat was difficult to cut and chew. No marble and no flavor. Reminded me of "steak night", at the chow hall in the military or the steak that comes with steak and egg breakfast at Denny's. My jaw got tired of chewing. I think the handle on the steak knife was thicker than my steak. Manager was nice and explained they cut them thin, so as to keep 12 ounces weight, without trimming the fat off the edges! I was on my hands and knees in the parking lot, experiencing intense vomiting and stomach discomfort. Let's start with the pros: there was a short wait time to get seated, staff were friendlyish, and the rolls were absolutely delicious. the steak and mash potatoes were well seasoned. the vibe of this place overall was nice and I loved the decor I guess lol Now the cons...: super long wait time, after we got our drinks it was an hour until our food came and we ordered pretty minimal. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked a medium, the other people at my table ordered their steak medium well and it was very well done. keep in mind we have a 3 year old who gets rowdy if out for too long so imagine an hour wait for food We are new to town and we are used to bad coltons but this was pretty upsetting. read more

There food is mediocre at best,the margarita i had tasted like it was on a really bad diet. Prices imo are too high for the quality. I guess this is the only "steak house" around so I don't think people have much to compare or the customers are older and don't care to remember. I didn't have steak but I did have the pork chop and it was not cooked proper even after a long wait. Went for dinner with friends and had a blast! The bartender Shyanne is always friend fast and offers great service! The food was amazing as always! I treated my Mom to Colton's at her suggestion as she had been prior and recommended it. We kicked things off with a TJ's blooming onion and it was super tasty with a yummy dipping sauce. We also enjoyed the Wonderful complimentary yeast dinner rolls, butter and honey. I ordered chicken fried steak/mashed potatoes and add on salad w/ranch. My chicken fried steak was a large portion so I was able to take half with me for another meal later. I ordered lunch so I was delighted to see such a generous portion at a great meal price! (less than $10) My Mom enjoyed her usual loaded chicken breast lunch which looked delicious. Two sweet teas! Our meals were very good, everything was fresh, hot and flavorful. I must add that we had the best server ever (Tess) was Amazing! She was on it and provided an Awesome meal experience for us. I did complete a compliment/experience survey card at the end for her Manager. She is a sweet breath of fresh air. So today we decided to go to the Colton for a nice meal. We both ordered ribs that we both requested to our waitress that they are to be wet. But you can see in the picture that there are dry. Then we were trying to be nice and asked her if they were wet or dry. She said that they were wet. We had to flag a different waitress down to get bbq sauce. And not only that. She didn't give us any extra napkin or share plate and sauces as well till we have to walked to find any waitress to help. This place is amazing! The food was great! I was a little hesitant when looking at the rating and some of the reviews, and it definitely did not disappoint us! We had the Onion Tanglers for our appetizer and they were crispy and flavorful even without their delicious dipping sauce. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and their mashed potatoes with the brown gravy. Everything had a great flavor!! The cost was very affordable for the amount of food we got.
