My frail and I have stayed at this joint a few times in the past. We was drift'in along in the ol' boiler and decided to spend a night. What I'm wondering is why it took us so long to stay here again. We liked being here every time we stayed. But, yas knows hows that goes don't cha? The accommodations are amazing. It was cold as a well digger and the room was snug and warm. The scene over the Columbia River is mesmerizing. The grounds are well attended and neat. Don't take my word for it .. sometimes Hammer paints a pretty picture you might not agree wit. Jus go and look for yourself. The hombre up front and the Jane are pleasant, professional, warm and easy to deal wit. I'm jerk'in a nod in their direction. I got no kick about anything here. Like Arnie used ta say. Jewel Box the room reminded us of our visits to Paris - compact and clean with jewel-like lights and end tables. It was pricey and tiny, but everything is pricey in Hood River during wedding season loved the Adirondacks that looked out over the water and the location right next-door to the Columbia Ridge hotel with beautiful grounds and a fun bar. read more

Columbia Cliff Villas serves its purpose quite nicely. Despite it literally being right along railroad tracks and a busy freeway, I didn't hear a single train or vehicle inside my room. The front desk keeps very limited hours, so be sure to arrive early enough to be able to check in. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and check-in was very prompt. I was very surprised by and appreciative of the no-charge room upgrade when I checked in (bigger room than what I'd reserved). There are also electric vehicle chargers on-site, if you have the need. Parking is the only real drawback, that being that there are very few parking spaces in the paved lot, so most visitors' vehicles needed to park in the dirt / gravel area behind the hotel. When: 3-nights (Apr 24th-28th); 2 Adults; Carriage House Suite Location & Property: Very convenient location in Hood River with easy access off and on the 84. Downtown Hood River is just one exit away or about a less than 10 minute drive. The property sits overlooking the Columbia River and some rooms & suites have river views. Parking is limited out front in the courtyard, so guests checking in late or guests returning from dinner will have to park in the overflow gravel lot. Room: The Carriage House Suite on the 2nd floor with stairway access only. The building that these units are located sits closes to the I-84, so if you are a light sleeper, traffic noise from the 84 could be bothersome. The best way to describe this room is "Vintage Luxury" with classic pacific northwest decor. By all means, this is not a 5-star property, but some of the 2 & 3 bedroom suites facing the river maybe a little aptly furnished. The Carriage House Suite had a full-kitchen, a living room with an on the wall flat screen tv. The bedroom was very cozy with a queen bed. The bathroom was cozy with a walk-in shower only. For your convenience, a washer & drawer was also available for extended stay guests. Service: Front office staff was friendly an efficient. We had a minor issue with housekeeping replacing our towels, but it was remedied immediately with the front office staff when I made an inquiry. All in all it was a good stay at this property. The next time when visiting Hood River, we may inquire in staying in one of the river front facing suites. read more

The property is nice and peaceful. The garden walk between the Villas and the neighboring property is wonderful and relaxing. The front desk staff is friendly and accommodating, as is the housekeeping staff. The rooms are small but cozy, the mini-split provides silent heat, the rain shower is luxurious, and the bed is firm with high end sheets. The only downside was that the wall between our room and the room next door was thin - we could hear our neighbors' conversations and kiddos throughout the trip. read more

This was a lovely respite during our two week road trip across the country. We stayed here two nights and were so impressed by Columbia Cliff Villas COVID19 safety precautions including contactless check in, thorough room sanitization (our room also included a free bottle) and daily text check ins to see if we needed anything. Our room was very clean and featured Aveda bath and body products, an impressive new bathroom and a coffee maker (with tea options). During our stay, we enjoyed time spent on the Adirondack chairs in the shade overlooking the Columbia River on the property. Note that this hotel is about two miles from downtown and not super walkable. What it lacks in walkability, it makes up for in views and tranquility. read more

We were very disappointed in the lack of amenities for this "Villa" hotel. It was not inexpensive and it was bare bones. 1 bar of soap and a tablespoon of body wash for 3 nites. They messed up our reservations so we got locked out of our room. There were 2 very uncomfortable in chairs the "Villa". This is supposed to be an extended stay type of accommodation; not very comfortable. Also NO cable, so you had to sign in use you're own provider. My partner and I stayed in the Carriage House, for the weekend, and it was the perfect getaway. The space was so cozy and welcoming. We had a full kitchen (stocked with all the necessary utensils), a fireplace (which was perfect since the weather had been cold), and a separate bedroom (great for when your partner wants to watch TV and you're ready to call it a night). This is our first getaway since being parents and I can't express how amazing the stay was, especially during the pandemic. The room was clean, grounds were quiet, and while our room was the furthest from the views - we still had a lovely shot of the river. Downtown Hood River shops and restaurants closed much earlier than we're used to in Portland but the full kitchen in our room helped us fully unwind and relax. I was able to catch up on all my shows, hangout with my partner like we used to before the baby and just eat all the yummy treats the town had to offer. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Dine or have a drink at the famous Columbia gorge hotel that sits aside - and or the White Buffalo Restaurant. Biggest tip: don't date stay just one night. Make it two - any time of the year. You won't regret it! UPDATE: regarding the other negative comments posted below....I can't IMAGINE the Columbia Cliffs Villas staff "gossiping" about guests behind the "desk". In fact I'm pretty certain those reviewers are confusing the Columbia Cliffs Villas (CCV) facility, with the adjacent "Columbia Gorge Hotel" property. We came here for our honeymoon in February and stayed in a riverfront room. While it was super cold and snowy the view was absolutely STUNNING. Waking up to the snowy mountains and the glistening river was truly priceless. This was the romantic getaway we were looking for. The room was very clean and updated. There was a keurig in the room which was a nice touch for those mornings we wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee with a view. The building was also very quiet. We were located just about 1 mile away from downtown Hood River which provided the privacy we were looking for but also conveniently located for those times we wanted to get out and about. read more

I'm only giving it 2 stars because of the location and grounds are pretty however Staff is flat out unprofessional and RUDE! They certainly do not belong in hospitality. I booked the 3 bedroom presidential suite and ended up canceling due to RUDE staff. I believe her name was Shelley. A little tip Shelley when somebody books your property site unseen don't be so nasty when they ask questions about what exactly they are getting for nearly $4,000. Would not and will not recommend this place. We ended up renting 2 BEAUTIFUL large homes with AMAZING VIEWS & amenities. Could not have been happier!!!! read more

Absolutely loved my stay here. The online check-in and mobile app for key access to your room made the check-in process seamless. I wasn't able to arrive until later in the day, after the office was set to close. Having my key on my phone allowed me to take my time getting there and gave me one less thing to worry about. The room was thoroughly cleaned which I was extremely thankful for. The property was nice and quiet which made for uninterrupted sleep and a very peaceful stay. I was in town for a wedding and the venue was a minute down the frontage road, so this location was perfect. Parking was available right in front of my room, with additional options behind the villas. There is also has a spectacular view of the river! Check out was done at the office and the woman working the desk made the process just as quick and easy as mobile check-in. If you're planning a trip to Hood River I would absolutely recommend staying here. I will definitely be back in the future. read more

3 stars, but only because they upgraded us after arriving to an underwhelming room for the money. Unless you are looking to stay in the townhouse, I would suggest other accommodations in Hood River. My wife and I wanted to spend some time in the area and we planned to splurge a bit on the room, so we settled on the Columbia Cliff Villas. The property is located adjacent to the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel and has four buildings, at least two of which are divided into 3-story townhouses. We were *sold* - and I use that term purposely - a room by the reservations agent that promised a luxury experience with river views. Even the website states this property is a "luxury condominium hotel." After the verbal up-sell, we received an e-mail just 5 days before our stay stating the room was a "Grand Courtyard" king room with "quartering" river views. Here are the translations... Grand Courtyard = Parking lot with some shrubs and a freeway view Quartering River Views = Obscured views if you stand directly at your window and turn your head toward the river Additionally, the room was dark, under-lit and confining. We would later learn this was just an adjoining bedroom for the townhouse. Other than the Aveda bath products, nothing about that room was luxurious. After complaining to the office agent, we were upgraded to the adjacent townhouse, as it was vacant for our 2-day stay. I doubt this would have been possible on a weekend, so don't expect an upgrade on a weekend when the property is more full. The townhouse was very deserving of "luxury" standing. Two floors with lots of room, a full kitchen and large bathroom. Bravo to the management for making the situation right, however, it shouldn't have been that way from the start. Unless you book the townhouse - and have the money to do so - I suggest you understand exactly what you are getting at Columbia Cliff Villas before staying here. Without a river view, the single rooms are small and not worth the money. read more

What a lovely spot to enjoy beautiful hiking and get away for a weekend. This is my second time staying here and the employees have always been so wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, we actually spend most of our evenings at the hotel because we visit with our dog so dining out on cold wet evening is difficult. I like the privacy of the condo style. It's not trendy but it's not a boring corporate hotel either. The rooms I've stayed in have really beautiful hardwood floors and a cozy fireplace. They allow dogs in certain rooms and have a nice little care package for the pup too! From my experience this is the best hotel in the area and I'll come here every time I'm in Hood River. read more

Super clean, brand new condos right off the side of the freeway (which dissapointingly, could be heard from our bedroom) and basically on the same property as the beautiful and historic Columbia Gorge Hotel. I'd recommend staying here if you can handle a mostly self service experience, but the nice, new rooms and setting make it worth a return trip. Nice bed and bedroom and in the coach rooms, a really great foam pull out bed offers a pretty fantastic night sleep. Nice fluffy towels, Aveda products, and spa robes. (For me, robes improve any hotel stay.) Small gas fireplace and, if staying in a "coach room" a small but full kitchen including a stove, Kerug, pots, pans and cooking implements, and fairly large sized refrigerator. Perfect for family travel (the coach rooms can sleep 3-4 comfortably), clean, and we got a pretty great rate on Bookings.com. A couple of caveats though: *Right by the side of the freeway. Great views in the front, whizzing car noise in the back. If you are a restless sleeper, beware. *Poor wifi connection while we were there. Typical of a town with only two service providers in the mountains, but frustrating if you really need (or want) to connect. *This is like staying at a condo development with maid service each day. Forget it if you need a full-service experience. *No phones in the room. Only one person on property from 9 am to 9 pm. (So, don't bother calling on that missing internet connection. No one will hear you scream.) All this said, we'd like come back. For the price, this place was clean, new and well situated and family friendly (caveat: for an independent family who travels and likes the convenience of VBRO-like rentals, minus any cleaning fee and doesn't need a full-service experience.) Take some time to walk around the adjoining historic Columbia Gorge Hotel and check out its beautiful grounds, gardens, porch swings, swallows and waterfall. read more

Nice spot right on the Columbia River Gorge for a weekend trip. Close to all Hood River has to offer without being in the middle of their shopping district. Close drive to local wineries and restaurants. Great central place to stay and explore the area. Nice rooms, comfy beds, etc. However, if you truly want a room overlooking the Gorge you need to get FULL view. Partial river view is a stretch to call it a view and looks across the parking lot. Also can be pretty pricy, but par for the course on a summer weekend in this area. More like 3.5 stars, but I would stay again. read more

I don't understand how this place has 3.5 stars. The view was gorgeous, the fireplace lovely, and the shower to die for. We were warmly greeted and shown to parking and our room. We slept so well, the bed was super comfy. The only thing we could find that we didn't like was the weird Native American art, but to each his own. We will definitely be back!! My wife and I had never been to Oregon before. We flew into Portland and drove to Hood River in the dark. The young man at the desk was friendly and helped us to our room. He showed us how to work the thermostat, fireplace, and balcony door locks (wind can get a little crazy here). Woke up the next morning to an amazing view. Our River Room was everything we had read about. Comfy beds, easy parking, and that beautiful, beautiful view. Booked a weekend get away here- accommodations are comfortable, clean and cozy, the housekeeps do an amazing job and the views on a rainy day are still nice. The yards keepers do a nice job and it truly has a luxury appeal, comfort and quality. We had a kitchenette with keurig, stove top, microwave, full dish set, pans, utensils and basic kitchen cookware. Our rooms had comfy robs, luxury bedding, large soft comfy towels and aveda toiletries. Wifi and cable are free. My one gripe is "fireplace" i had expected a standard sized unit. We were told it made the room warm- which is a stretch at best, you will get warm if you sit just in front of it that's the extent- but not to worry the rooms thermostat kicks in immediately we were never cold or hot. read more

I will start this by saying, this is a nice place and pretty good location (not walkable to DT due to highway, distance, and limited sidewalks), but we had a bad experience here with the owner. This is a place where you should feel safe and your stuff should be safe. We were here for 3 nights and our bikes got stolen on night 3. They were locked up outside of the hotel and the lock was cut. This was in a dead end with no through traffic, so its suspicious that someone outside of the hotel staff or guests would be in the area where they were locked. There are garages on location, but we were not notified that we could use the garages to keep our bikes safe even though we asked about riding trails etc. When we requested security footage, they were unable to produce it because "their cameras had a problem". When we requested at least a night of our stay to be comped due to our bikes being stolen in a "safe" area locked up and no security footage, we were denied by the owner. I just dont feel like thats good customer service. If garages weren't extended for our use and you cant produce footage becuase of "faulty cameras", at least show some sympthay and comp 1 night. He claimed no liability. What if instead of a bike being stolen, someone had been robbed at gunpoint and your cameras dont work? Are you then still not liabable for providing a safe place for guests? If you are staying here, be aware of this. Staff or someone is watching for your valuables to take! No fridge or microwave in the rooms. Very bare bones and small. read more

First time in Hood River was a success thanks in large part to our wonderful room at the Columbia Cliffs Villas. We stayed in a River View room with a Juliette balcony. The view was perfect. The room had a King sized bed, smaller than most hotels TV, and a spacious bathroom with a small fridge. You're not downtown Hood River but it took less than 5 minutes to drive into town and get dinner. The staff that welcomed us was very friendly. Someone even walked us to our room. The room was a little pricey but they have a range of options and pricing. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! read more

While stuck in traffic we agreed to spend he might in Hood River and put off out camping plans. I called hotel after hotel and most laughed when we asked about vacancies for the night. Then we called here and they had one. The customer service was impeccable. We rolled in after midnight and they greeted us by name and offered to help us carry our back packs upstairs. We wanted to be impressed, but we were not. The when room is very small, but clean. There is no way to control the temperature in our room since the thermostat for our room is in the next room... So we were roasting, at the mercy of the crazy old lady with a cat on a leash next door. There is no ice maker and the office closes at 9pm. The next morning, we were woken by a screaming child running in the condo and doors to cabinets slamming. It seems our room was just off the kitchen. I couldn't make this stuff up. Thankfully we were able to get a refund from Amazon Deals, and moved to a lovely hotel downtown. I can't believe they normally charge upwards of $200 for this 12x20 room! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for just one night, but were impressed by and grateful for the extraordinary service! When we pulled in to the cozy villas, we saw a young man (who was later at the front desk) helping a family unload their luggage and carry them to their hotel door. Right after helping them, he came to help us move our bags to our door and gave us a fabulous recommendation for dinner (Celilo!). Before we left for dinner, we were concerned that if another Tesla pulled in, we wouldn't be able to charge our car, so he put a cone out to reserve it for us. When we returned about three hours later, he was there to remove the cone and welcome us back. Impeccable service and professional courtesy! Before leaving the next morning, we took a stroll around the gardens and saw ducks splashing in the creek, clambered over what seemed like a historic stone rampart, and took pictures bathed in rose light. Well, we picked the worst possible time because there is a huge snow storm. We didn't make it to Portland till 6pm and were worried about safely making it to the villas. We called to see if they could refund us even though it was late. They were SO accommodating and he agreed to refund us and said "I'm glad you're staying safe!" We were very happy with our stay at Columbia Cliff Villas! We booked two of the least expensive rooms on Travelocity. When we arrived, we were able to check in a couple of hours early and the gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He walked us to our room, and also offered to carry our luggage in. The room itself was small as others have commented, but totally adequate. The bathroom is beautifully remodeled, and the towels they use are seriously noteworthy. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean and well kept. The location is great, just a short drive to downtown Hood River and the view of the river was amazing. We loved the outdoor seating area as well, and used that during our stay to drink a bottle of wine under the stars with our friends. We had a great stay, and would certainly visit Columbia Cliff Villas again in the future! read more

This is a condo complex that rents suites/ european-style rooms. This translates into a small room with a bed, flat screen TV and bathroom. There is a shared balcony.... first come, first serve. The amenities are few and not easily accessed.... i.e ice. With that in mind, if you plan to be out and about exploring the beauty of Hood River, it's a perfect comfy place to crash. We were really only in the room to sleep during our stay. We spent most of our time exploring the wineries and downtown.... which was very pleasant. If you are looking for a destination hotel, this is not the place to go. It will not meet your needs. The Columbia Gorge Hotel is directly next door which houses a restaurant and spa.. They are easily within walking distance. The downtown is a quick 5 minute drive. read more

Well I was really excited about staying here. I thought it would be an upgrade from the vagabond down the street. As for the room decor, it was really nice. Like a condo. On the phone they seemed really nice and helpful. As soon as I showed up with my friends they treated us different. They commented on how we would get charged for damages on my Cc. Damages???? Really??? I walked in and the cabinet in the kitchen fell off when I went to open it. Hopefully they don't try and charge me for that. A tasteful, clean hotel in a scenic setting, probably the nicest you can find in the Hood River area. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a great location. We opted to dine in town rather than next door at the hotel - there are many good choices in town such as Double Mountain, Solstice, and Lora's Table. The hotel next door (Columbia River Gorge Hotel) has beautiful grounds - make sure to walk through the garden and around back to see the waterfalls and cliffs. It's a good choice for couples, maybe not the best choice if you have kids because the villas are out of town a bit and there isn't much to do without hopping in the car. The place was cute and quaint. The bed was really comfortable and the views were awesome. It's centrally located to wine tasting and downtown Hood River. My only complaints: 1) The room was horribly hot. They said it was central air and couldn't be adjusted in the room. That was miserable! It was so freaking hot the first night I ended up opening the window and listening to the highway traffic just to cool down. They really need to fix that. 2) They need to invest in some black-out curtains. Especially if you have to keep the window open to cool it down. It was so bright at night! read more
