This hotel was extremely scenic upon arriving. The interior was reminiscent of the 1920s with portraits of Valentino adorning the walls in the foyer living room with a cozy gas fireplace. The restaurant had a varied, mouthwatering menu and the service was excellent.The rooms had an old world feel to them, but were mostly refurbished and updated. What we loved most was the varied gallery of paintings on walls on each floor and the old-fashioned lever driven elevator that was run by the staff. The views and the grounds were exquisite with a waterfall cascading by a lookout. An unusual and historic landmark hotel that's definitely worth a visit. read more

This hotel is a mixed bag. The grounds are lovely. The views outside are amazing, and that is a big plus. But the individual hotel rooms feel cramped. There is no light in the dark closet. There is no in-room coffee maker. And the worst aspect is the soundproofing. We had to listen to such loud bass from the wedding being held somewhere in the venue that I had to delay our kids' bedtime by two hours because there was no way anyone could sleep through that. read more

I booked a mid-week King with River View in late October 2025 on the recommendation of a greater Portland visitors guide. On the one hand, the grounds are lovely, with some nice views of a waterfall cascading down to the Columbia River. The hotel has nice "bones" and the interior incorporates a lot of Art Deco touches, although we didn't agree with every design choice. There's a cool, old-fashioned hand-operated elevator that needs a staff member to operate. My biggest issue had to do with the cost of the room in late October given that the view of the river was very limited by small-ish windows and trees. Overall, just not worth the $325/night rate. The hotel appears to be a prime destination for weddings, which could be fantastic if the weather cooperates. It is located just west of small Hood River, which appears to lack much in the way of fine dining, but does have a number of boutiques, a great brewpub (Pfriem), and a great coffee/breakfast place (Kickstand). For us, given all of the other waterfalls along the Gorge, I think we would have been just fine with a less expensive, less notable hotel for the night. read more

The CGH is greatly need of some love! A quality remodel that restores it to it's "The Waldorf of the West" glory would not just be wonderful, it would secure its future as an Oregon and PNW treasure. Such an incredible property and rich history. Despite the eclectic, worn out vibe and the fact that much of the hotel is under-utilized or completely closed off, we still enjoyed our stay. A Beautiful, Historic Venue --But Serious Issues with On-Site Coordinator The Good: The Columbia Gorge Hotel is absolutely breathtaking. My partner and I both grew up in Hood River and have cherished memories at this hotel, so getting married here was incredibly special. The grounds are STUNNING--barely requiring any decor--and our guests were in awe. Nearly every member of the hotel staff went above and beyond to support us: *The bartenders were friendly, welcoming, and even got to know us the night before after our rehearsal during drinks. *The cleaning team went through linens that had already gone to laundry to help us retrieve hand-embroidered handkerchiefs that were left behind. *The front desk staff helped locate a lost item misplaced by the hotel coordinator the night before and took initiative to solve it. *The food & chef was phenomenal--our guests couldn't stop talking raving. The Bad: Our experience with the venue's on-site coordinator, Cheyanna, was the only major flaw in an otherwise perfect wedding. She regularly gave us improvised answers about policies and logistics that later turned out to be incorrect--often reversing her decisions only after we followed up or asked additional questions. It was clear she hadn't taken notes during our planning meetings, as she was unfamiliar with basic details of our timeline. She dismissed previously approved items (like candles or bar setup with sparkling water) and contradicted herself without explanation. This inconsistency caused confusion and added stress. Her demeanor also changed drastically after final payments were made--she became disengaged, appeared uninterested in coordinating the actual event, and showed little regard for us or our guests. Key issues like outdoor bathrooms not being unlocked for cocktail hour, wet chairs left for guest to arrive to after a morning drizzle, and a nonfunctional sound system during our ceremony went unaddressed. Thankfully, we had hired a personal coordinator (at the hotel's suggestion), who managed the situation and ensured the day stayed on track. Even she commented on how difficult it was to work with Cheyanna and said she would be hesitant to recommend the venue as long as she remains in the role. Final Thoughts: The Columbia Gorge Hotel is a rare and beautiful place to get married. The food, location, and most of the staff are truly exceptional, and we're so grateful to those who treated our day with such care. However, we feel it's important to share our honest experience: the issues with the on-site coordinator were serious. We also received a very unprofessional email from her after posting an initial review on another platform, which only reinforced our concerns. We wholeheartedly recommend this venue--but strongly encourage couples to bring their own coordinator. With proper support, this location has the potential to deliver a flawless and unforgettable wedding day. read more

You stay here for the since of history. It is an elegant hotel with a 105 year old elevator and a panoramic view of the Columbia River. Frank Sinatra tunes seem to be playing much of the time. I've emailed the hotel and went in person to the hotel twice. Despite reassuring me they will credit me back they haven't, all the while behaving completely indifferent to the inconvenience this has caused me. Now I have to call my bank and file a dispute or fraud claim. The dinner wasn't worth this. read more

This past Saturday, I was a maid of honor at a wedding that was hosted at this venue! The location is absolutely breathtaking and worth the drive from Portland - one look outside the window was all it took! The staff throughout the property was so helpful, especially when the mother of the bride lost her phone after the reception. I asked for some gloves and the staff members helped me dig through bags of linen (shoutout to everyone who took the time to help!). The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception had a nice flow to it, and everything went smoothly. The mixed drinks at the bars were also delish! The only feedback I would like to pass along, would be to have elevators that guests could operate. I didn't want to inconvenience the staff by asking to use the elevators because we had to make a few trips (since the elevators can only be operated by employees) so we ran up and down the stairs in heels - which was a painful experience haha! I hope to be able to return to this property as a guest and enjoy the hotel to its fullest extent. The artwork in the hallways and hotel rooms were so fun to enjoy as well. I'd recommend this venue for anyone looking for their dream PNW wedding venue! read more

One of our favorite hotel/spa locations. Sits right along the river and has beautiful views . The grounds are fairytale like and we spent quite a bit of time waking around enjoy the flowers , trees, river, streams. It's a historic hotel that has been updated but kept its old charm. They have a nice restaurant inside that has a long room with windows that overlook the river. The food is considered upscale and was all very good. Yummy cocktails and several beers. The rooms were very comfortable with nice bathrooms. The prices are good in " off season " and can get pricey at different times of the year. There is a spa and a little gift shop and the drive into Hood River is about 5 min. The staff were fun to talk to and they have a little historic elevator that they use to take you to different floors of the hotel. It's definitely worth the stop to stay here. The historic architecture, the romantic gardens, the waterfall overlook -- it's all packed into one location and feels like a true getaway. She's the Weddings and Social Events Manager, and she's phenomenal at what she does. I've worked alongside her at numerous weddings, and every time she's detail-driven, responsive, and calm under pressure. Whether we're coordinating the timeline, confirming details with the couple, or making last-minute adjustments -- Cheyanna is on it. She makes my job easier, and more importantly, she makes the entire experience smoother for every couple. Pro tip: When choosing a room, choose wisely -- if you get a room facing the river, it's wonderful, with not just lovely views but the gentle sound of water rustling by; but if you get a room facing the highway, I am told that it's rather noisy. So be sure to pay the extra for a riverfront view. Ambiance: A+ Room B Service B Food: B Value: B The first thing you notice upon arrival at the Columbia Gorge is the scent of flowers. That is not by chance. Hanging baskets overflowing with blooms are generously placed right around the entrance. That kind of little detail is typical of the experience here -- a hundred years of thought of such little details have been accumulated to make this place what it is: a well-maintained, classic luxury hotel that just happens to be placed on a cliff overlooking the Hood River. On the surrounding landscaped grounds are numerous little spots with chairs or benches nestled into some wooded corner or up against the adjacent cliff, all perfect for private conversation or for just sipping coffee in the morning while taking in the moment. The experience of staying here is memorable -- this is no cookie-cutter hotel, but a unique property. That said, in minor respects it shows its age. For instance, the elevator must be operated by staff, and as that is not always convenient, you will need to mostly use the stairs. It's only three stories, but some may not like having to climb them. Also, the electronic keys only seemed to work for about a day before having to be reinitialized. The hotel restaurant is elegant, but I thought it a little expensive and the food was good but not remarkable. No matter, as there are plenty of nice restaurants within a 20 minute drive. A couple of improvements I would suggest: 1) I had expected that I could just ask staff about places to hike, but when I did I was told they knew nothing of that. At the very least, the hotel should have a handout about recommended hikes; 2) The bathroom in our room had virtually no shelf space. There was plenty of room for a shelf, so that should be remedied. The hotel seems to be a preferred choice for weddings -- we saw a couple of weddings in various stages of preparation while we were there, and I would say it's a great place for an elegant event. It's a touch expensive for routine travelers, but if you want to stay somewhere you won't soon forget and experience a touch of classic style in a genuinely gorgeous location, it's worth it. read more

Would not recommend having your wedding here. The positives: the venue is BEAUTIFUL, the food is excellent, and the bartenders are friendly, as are some of the wait staff. The lounge singer is also incredible. The negatives: 1. The rooms are very disappointing (the 'honeymoon suite' was half the quality of an embassy suites). 2. The wedding coordinator is going through the motions and does not care about your experience once the contract is signed. They changed key details, scheduled another group's rehearsal during our wedding, and processed payments without approval. 3. The front desk staff offer very poor service. I left my glasses at our rehearsal dinner -- they were confirmed to be found and left in the front office, after which they went missing, meaning they could only have been stolen or broken by the staff. It took me 2 days to confirm they had 100% been retrieved because the first 3 front desk people I spoke with could not be bothered to look around more than checking the lost and found box. Overall, a very frustrating experience for a venue that bills itself as premium. For the money, you can definitely find better options elsewhere. Believe the negative reviews. To the venue, I recommend you revisit your recruitment and training policies so that your service quality matches your pricing and premium billing. And (less realistically) maybe invest in combining a few rooms into one or two nicer suites for bridal couples. Your 'honeymoon suite' was genuinely embarrassing for a venue of your location and caliber. read more

I recently supported a family member's wedding at this venue, and unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. While the location itself is beautiful, the service and professionalism were anything but. It all started with rude front desk staff who seemed irritated that we were approaching them to open the reception room for set-up and to request that someone clean the ceremony space. From there, things only got worse. Promises made by the wedding coordinator were not honored. The general manager had no idea what had been agreed upon (e.g., special plates, extra tables), and when we asked for clarification, we were met with dismissive responses like "I wasn't aware." No apology was offered, and the coordinator responded with attitude when confronted. We were told we could begin setup early, but upon arrival, the ceremony site was dirty--glasses, trash, and filthy seats. It took three requests and over two hours to get it cleaned (family had to consolidate the dirty glasses and wipe down seats before the staff arrived after the third escalation. The reception room wasn't ready either: wrinkled and dirty linens (we had to request that they were steamed), trash from the previous night still outside the room, and we were rushed through setup so the banquet team could take over. The walk between the ceremony site and the reception room was littered with favors from the previous night's wedding. The couple's dinner chairs were heavily stained (covering with a sheet doesn't make it better). The chairs guests used were rickety, unstable, and also dirty. The bride and groom didn't receive the pet-free suite they had requested a year in advance. The coordinator also failed to assist with floral arrangements as SHE promised, was frequently absent, later discovered to be giving a tour to another couple. I would have expected her to be with the family at all times to coordinate, escalate, and remediate. Worst of all, the staff's demeanor was unprofessional. Family members trying to help were met with irritated facial expressions and curt, disrespectful replies. A Yelp review from a guest was met with the response, "family doesn't see what goes on behind the scenes"--an attempt to shift blame onto the family's supposed misperception of the poor service and experience. That kind of deflection is unacceptable and speaks volumes about the venue's lack of accountability. Couples deserve better on their wedding day. I would not recommend this venue to anyone looking for a respectful, reliable, and professional experience. There are other beautiful locations in Oregon to choose. Do your homework and reservations now so you are not stuck with a place like this. read more

I had tried to contact the hotel two times before our arrival to ask about the advisability of my booking a King Suite for four adults. I asked if the extra bed was comfortable enough for all of us. I explain that all of us are in our 70's and a comfortable bed was really important. I asked if I should book two rooms instead, and if they had adjoining rooms. I emailed and called. I never received a reply. My husband, our two friends and I stayed in the King suite. The second "bed" was an old, dilapidated sofa bed that was, basically, a sheet directly on the coils and springs. It was impossible to sleep. My husband and I even considered sleeping on the floor but the carpet was kinda of funky. I shared my experience with the front desk and the management. I received a formulaic email reply, telling me that they were sorry my stay didn't meet my expectations. Nothing else. Also, they served us our lunch (outside on the patio) in cardboard to-go containers. Not the end of the world, to be sure, but we were surprised that they didn't even bring our food on PLATES. I absolutely will NOT return, nor will I recommend the hotel. read more

Beautiful wedding venue. Overpriced and disappointing lodging. We attended a beautiful wedding at the Columbia Gorge Hotel and also stayed there. We will not be back. We upgraded to a river view room. The room was tiny and poorly planned. The drapes that covered the window (with the river view) only opened half way and there was no hook, so we used an ironing board to prop the drapes open so we could enjoy the view. Only one side of the bed had a night table. I encourage the hotel to invest in slightly narrower night tables so both sides have them. The room had no dresser, but there was plenty of empty space above the mini fridge in the closet that would be perfect for shelves. The bathroom door wouldn't shut unless I slammed it, the shower water pressure was poor, and the tub did not drain well. The bathroom walls were so thin that I could hear our neighbor's entire phone conversation through the wall. read more

Attended Christmas High Tea on 12/21/25. The space is gorgeous, the view stunning, the service attentive but the food was disappointing. The event advertised biscuits, finger sandwiches, scones, petit fours; didn't receive any of these. There was very little protein (tasty though) and served ordinary sweets (chocolate chip, oatmeal, & snickerdoodle cookies). There is an expectation from guests that the food reflect elegance to match the environment of the hotel and match the high cost of high tea. You can do better for Hood River. read more

Take a walk on the stone patio behind the building, then check in somewhere with more competent and hospitable service: -Our room was ready an hour early; Thank you. Front desk staff grabbed my bag, keeping it even when I said I'd take it. Took us up the elevator when we always prefer the stairs. -NO vehicle charging stations: "Go to Walmart." -Neither front staff knew anything about local walks except for "the patio out back." -Room was small-medium size, immaculate, nicely renovated except for very cheap=loud heating unit that came on throughout our stay with noisy reverberations. -In the pre-dinner lounge, 4 of my group ordered ice/sparkling water. I ordered room temperature faucet water because I like tasting local waters. Theirs came in glasses; mine in plastic. Really????? I asked them if they recycled: "No." Dinner: -one person's rare steak was medium rare -evident displeasure from server when we all asked for water as beverage, no alcohol. -dinners were good (4star) but expensive and every item is a la carte. eg. steaks $55-90, and "would you like potatoes or vegetables with that, all items are a la carte." $15- $19. for each side dish. Desserts were excellent, very small. Service slow: about 45 minutes from sitdown to plate serving. (Hence the medium rare steak?) -We put the meal (for 5) on our room bill to pay at checkout. The menu had noted that for tables of 6 or more a 22% gratuity would be added. Not mentioned was what we discovered at checkout: for 5 a 15% gratuity was added. This was not pointed out to us; we discovered it only while asking for the bill total ("wait, which server did you have? I'll see if I can find the invoice."), planning to add our usual 20% tip. -Morning coffee was ok; "biscotti" was of their creative imagination (gobs of chocolate). Traditional almond flour and egg basis would have done nicely. In sum: I was hoping for much more in keeping from such beautiful architecture and history. read more

Absolutely the worst dining experience I've never had. We're staying at the hotel for what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration--and it's been anything but. We walked into the restaurant at 8:01pm--ONE minute past the hour--only to be told they'd stopped serving. Not only did the general manager refuse to seat us (despite us being hotel guests), but they also had the audacity to vanish into the shadows like cowards, leaving us standing there without so much as an apology or acknowledgment. It's laughable, really. This place is a relic, clinging to outdated attitudes and policies that clearly cater to an aging clientele who think hospitality means "go away." If you're under 50 and value even basic decency, do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. Let this dusty establishment fade into irrelevance where it belongs. Pros: The views and the property grounds. That's where it stops. Cons: The front desk staff are not friendly or helpful at all! At check in they told us our room was not ready but they will call us when it was ready. We waited for 2 HOURS and never received a call. So we went to the front desk and asked (at 4pm) if our room was ready. She said it was and we asked why they didn't call us and let us know sooner. She said they were busy. We could see they clearly were not because we sat in the lounge waiting and could see they were not busy checking people in. Also, when we checked in, and checked out, no one ever came from behind the desk to assist us with opening the two sets of double doors. They just stood there and watched us struggle with the doors and our bag cart. DO NOT get room #317! It is extremely noisy and has vibration coming from the compressor on the ground below. It turned on every 20 minutes and would run for 2 minutes or so 24/7! It ruined the whole ambiance of being directly over the waterfall. We couldn't leave the window open and enjoy the falls because of it. Overall, we would not stay there again and don't recommend it. read more

I arrived at this hotel tired and angry due to a hotel I stayed prior several days were anything but relaxing. I was very happy here, for one, they have bathrooms in the rooms (one must expect it, but I had just stayed several days in a hotel that didn't have one) and I truly appreciated that. I was able to get some much needed sleep here too I really enjoyed their public spaces, neighborhood in general. I wish the WiFi was better, but then again most people are here for vacation not work like me. So I had to use my hotspot for most of my work needs. Staff were very nice although I didn't engage all that much as I was there for work, so simply arrived in the evening to just sleep. I have no complaints, easy smooth Check out process. read more

Embarrassingly shoddy hotel, I recommend folks RUN, not walk, away from this establishment. We stayed here during a mid-week off-season whimsy. We booked a "premium" room; it was basically empty in the hotel and the rates were fair enough (but definitely not cheap). We were excited for a lovely, relaxing stay. WRONG! The hotel put is in a room right on top of a stuffy business executives catered buffet dinner. They were loud, drunk, and not at all cute to have to listen to for multiple hours. Thanks for that, Columbia Gorge hotel! What a tacky, low-class thing to do! Stick your guests right above a scheduled banquet event during a super quiet off-peak mid-week stay! Overall, this hotel is a total joke. It doesn't even have a single shred of palatable historic charm, either. One may think "hey! I'll stay here because of the beautiful grounds they show on the website, or the rich history that is spoken about!" NOPE! The hotel itself is a shoddy, poorly updated aesthetic nightmare. None of the charm of a McMenamins and almost nothing worth spending money on. The grounds are so-so...you'd think it would be prettier but it's just whatever, lots of folks walking around the grounds too which makes privacy non existent. I recommend you stay somewhere else, unless dreadfully dated amenities and high-key tackiness suit you. read more

The Columbia Gorge Hotel is really something! Historic, beautiful grounds, incredibly friendly & helpful staff, & it's dog-friendly! The ground are gorge-ous! :) Truly! The view from our room of the river, trees, & antique lamps was magnificent! Outside, this is the kind of place you dream about. It's so atmospheric! Inside the hotel, the atmosphere was variable. The entryway to the hotel was dark when we arrived & had strange huge modern light fixtures that looked like they were from the 1980's. Our room also had big white lights by the tv (which were off-putting) & anachronistic compared to the rest of the room, which was tastefully decorated in what felt like a Victorian era design. Our room was pretty with a beautiful view! The bed was very comfortable and the room had a huge closet & a small fridge. The bathroom had a nice shower with really wonderfully-scented lotion, shampoo, conditioner, & soap products. The walls were very thin. A party seemed to be going on upstairs right above our room with singing, banging, dancing, & booming from the loud bass of the music. We called the concierge & she put an end to that commotion rapidly, thank goodness since we'd had a long day. The lounge, with its fireplace, huge windows facing the water & trees is magnificent & is definitely worth it to order a drink or take a gander! It's like walking back in time! The staff at Columbia Gorge Hotel are really wonderful! Warm & friendly! When I went into the lounge, the bartender came right over & asked if I wanted to go outside & see the view directly! The concierge was incredibly responsive & friendly with the noise issue, & we felt welcomed! We ordered take out from the bar inside the hotel & it was very good with wonderful service. The one downside of the hotel was the dark hallways & odd lighting (inside the rooms) & in the entryway. That said, I'm really glad that I got to stay at the Columbia Gorge Hotel & I recommend it to anyone who wants comfort, friendly staff, & a step back in time! The hotel itself is fine, quirky with lovely grounds. But we stayed here based on a restaurant menu that looked like they were capable of being able to accommodate Celiac (gluten free). We sat down for our dinner reservations, and our server had zero idea what on the menu or be safe for me. She specifically called out the osso bucco as "not safe", but couldn't tell me why. She suggested that I eat the salmon special, but otherwise was unable to tell me what would be safe. The manager came over and made it clear that many items, such as the osso bucco, are not made in house, so they can't control whether there's been cross-contact in its preparation. The fryer is not gluten free. The only mention on the menu is that gluten free bread and pasta are available. But it doesn't sound like the kitchen is trained to handle Celiac. So we left. read more

Beautiful super old Hotel! Definitely pay the extra for the river view as the view is spectacular and the cost is minimal. The non river side also has freeway noise that is a little annoying. We ate breakfast and dinner in their restaurant, be sure and make a reservation for a table with a view. The breakfast was worth the $$ but I would check YELP and head somewhere else for dinner. Not horrible just not exceptional. The service was impeccable the food quality could have been better. Overall it was a great stay! read more

I was recently a guest at a wedding at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, and I have to say- what an incredible venue! The gorge speaks for itself in beauty but the wedding seemed to go smoothly, it was perfectly decorated, it wasn't clunky or delayed like some ceremonies can be, and everyone seemed like they knew exactly what they were supposed to be doing. The hotel grounds were clean and tidy and welcoming and all of the staff were very courteous. The coordinator Cheyanna was amazing to work with. I never saw her slow down the whole day and her care for my family and effort she put into my loved one's day showed through, even in the high winds that tried to knock us all down! I am certainly considering this as a destination for my future endeavors and will recommend them to others! read more

WOW I'm am not this guy!!!!! But. Unbelievable! I can not believe this happened. My wife and I are staying here at the Gorge to go to a friends wedding not here at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. We were hanging out in the bar with some folks who had most likely just paid a large sum to have their wedding here at the Columbia Gorge Hotel and the manager came in and rudely told us to leave the area! What a Customer Service Super Clutz!! I ended up responding to this guy the way he came at me...... He then told me to GO TO MY ROOM!!!! You can't make this xxxxx up/// it really happened you actually MANAGED ER TO PISS OFF LIKE??? 20 buyers at 1 time!! Hey we are hiring over at my place id love to steal this JEWEL from the Columbia Gorge!! Check out this photo I've attached. We loved everything about this quaint, beautiful, and stately hotel. Our only regret is we were just passing thru one night and did not realize that this hotel is a destination all of it's own. The location is spectacular and it's full of trails that lead to secret gardens and waterfalls. The hotel restaurant is first class and service was amazing. This is not a safe space nor one to close your eyes in! I ran out the first night I came due to the spirits lurking in my room and throughout the building. Unless you want that experience, this is not where you want to stay especially for the price. Besides being old and outdated, this place is actually haunted. Upon further research, while sleeping in my truck I may add, I found that spirits are sitting on people, causing bad dreams, making sounds and smells, and even harming people to the point of traumatization. This was not what I signed up for and they're refusing to refund the stay. This is a highly unprofessional hotel, false advertising, and intolerant of people's beliefs. While some are excited by paranormal activities, others want to steer clear, like myself. Never again. And even if it wasnt haunted, the outside doesn't make up for the lack of the inside, especially when they're raking in the level of money they are doing at these rates. read more

My family and I arrived to this hotel thinking we would have a nice experience due to its beautiful outdoor scenery. As soon as we arrived to check in. (Around 5:30pm) the ladies in the front desk both greeted us with a bad attitude. We were so excited to stay here and were amazed of how beautiful it is inside. I don't know why but instead of greeting us with a nice welcome, we were cut very short on answers and basically said take it or leave it. My son asked the front desk if they had a gym and they immediately cut them short and said no this is a historic place there. There's nothing here!! I was shocked when he told me this! We went downstairs to have dinner at the restaurant and it was better experience. Our waitress Brenda was so kind and very helpful. She treated us very cheerful and was very patient and thoughtful with any of our questions. The pianist was very outgoing and made our experience a lot better! The bedrooms were OK they were clean, no complaints. My only complaint was the ladies in the front desk! They need a lot more customer service training!! read more

I stayed there for a few days, and if your definition of historic dirty, unmaintained, and poorly and unsafe prepared food, then this is the place for you. Except for a guy called Chris in the hotel, the staff was excellent. Chris was not nice to us. In fact, the only mistake towards him is booked in the hotel which is basically paying him money for business he earns money from. I got one breakfast there, and the food was ok. It was not bad until I found what appears to be a twist tier in my omelet Anywhere I looked, the chairs were filthy. I attached a couple of pictures. The grounds look green but poorly maintained. Weed is everwherey. This place used to be nice one day, but its not worth the cost today. read more

We chose the Columbia Gorge Hotel as our wedding venue and we had the best day of our lives. The venue is gorgeous, the people were so kind and helpful, and Marrisa was amazing. She working with my planner for months to make sure all of the details were nailed down. On the day, I didn't have to worry about anything. The ceremony and reception area was gorgeous, the setup and breakdown were seamless, and our stay was a blast. Our guests may have enjoyed the party a little bit too much, but the staff was so incredible. We couldn't be more thankful to Marrisa and everyone who worked that week for helping (and tolerating) us, we loved it! read more

From the moment we attempted to check in to our much-anticipated stay at the Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa for a wedding party, the experience was fraught with disappointment and frustration. Despite the premium rate we paid(inflated rate for the wedding), the service and accommodations were severely lacking. We were told the rate was negotiated and special for the weeding. See the pictures for the rates prior to their "Wedding Season" rate increase and one during their "Wedding Season" rate increase. Both are significantly lower than the rate we were charged. Management's response was "We are always booked during Wedding Season and this is the wedding party rate, our rates are not that low during Wedding Season. Well, proof other wise is in the pictures. Firstly, the front desk denied my wife the ability to check in without my presence, which was highly inconvenient. When we arrived at noon, hoping for an early check-in, we were met not only with a refusal but with outright rudeness. We were curtly told to return at 3:30 PM, as "we don't even start checking rooms for a few more hours," despite the fact that official check-out time was only an hour prior, at 11 AM. Our room, when we finally accessed it, was in a deplorable state with remnants of food on the floor--clearly not cleaned properly for our (or any) arrival. The lack of cleanliness extended beyond just superficial issues; the shower handle was broken, the shower spout was crooked and detached from the wall, and an antiquated vent in the bathroom was a breeding ground for bugs. Even more disturbing was a vent in the bathroom through which we could see into the adjacent room, an egregious breach of privacy. The general state of the hotel mirrored the condition of our room--signs of disrepair were everywhere. Compounding the physical shortcomings were the staff, whose demeanor and professionalism left much to be desired. Their apparent indifference was underscored by a failed room service order, which was never delivered because the kitchen was busy with a mere 10 diners. Amenities were non-existent; there wasn't even a dresser in our room, only a mini-fridge hidden away in a closet. The preparation (or lack thereof) for the wedding event was equally inadequate, with uncleaned, dirty chairs and a cocktail hour area that was not only unswept but still littered with construction footprints and dirt. This experience at the Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa was not only a letdown but an exercise in frustration and discomfort. It is disheartening to report that this establishment fails to deliver on the basics of hospitality, cleanliness, and customer service. Travelers and event planners should consider looking elsewhere to avoid the array of issues we encountered. read more

The hotel was easy to find and easy to access. Right off of the main road out that way. Since the elevator is over 100 years old, you need staff assistance. We just walked up to the 2nd floor. The lines on the stairs can make your eyes bug out and cause vertigo. Use the handrail! Our room was tucked in the corner on the far left of the hotel. We had a garden view and could see a small part of the stream. It was our only choice during the booking. The room was large, decorated nicely, and clean. I would even consider it 'huge' compared to a lot of other hotel rooms. Even the bathroom was huge. Everything looked in good shape but kept with the old-timey feel. We walked the grounds and enjoyed the peace, quiet, and views without plans to do anything else. If we had to complain about anything, we would say that our dinner wasn't all that. The mushroom ravioli and the steak were not up to par in our opinion. We've had better for way cheaper. Breakfast was fine but we were charged $8 for coffee. Instead, we should have walked out the door to the complimentary coffee in the lobby. Service, however, was excellent. All the staff was great. Our other gripe would be that the bed was a little hard, but hey, it's a hotel. You get what you get. At least it was clean! We could have stayed another night but had to get back. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. read more
