    Deviled Crab at Carmine's, Tampa
    Bruce K.

The first stop on my self‑directed food and drink tour in Ybor was Carmine's, where we settled in at the bar for their well‑known "Deviled Crab" and a drink. Each of us ordered one of the crab balls, and they paired nicely with something cold to sip. I started with the evening's special, a margarita. It was a strong, well‑balanced pour, mixed cleanly and served with salt on just half the rim. They offer sugar as well. More places should do the half‑rim approach since it lets you choose each sip, with or without. It was genuinely delicious. The crab ball followed. Shaped almost like an ostrich egg, it was essentially a large crab cake packed with seasoned crab meat and a bit of filler, rolled in bread crumbs and fried until crisp. It was flavorful on its own but even better with a touch of hot sauce to brighten it up. I could have easily eaten three. Nick took great care of us at the bar. He was friendly, attentive, and quick with suggestions on where we might head next as we continued exploring Ybor. [Review 39 of 2026 - 2224 in Florida - 25230 overall]

Wow, this is my newest obsession. Located right in Historic Ybor, the ambiance is perfect whether you want a nice lunch or on a date night. The food is always great. They Cuban Sandwich is worth it, although we order our own entrees we always split a Cuban sandwich. The Cuban Italian fusion is absolutely fantastic. The servers are all very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Definitely a go to when in the Ybor district.

Christmas Work Lunch at Carmine's! What a glorious feast among coworkers. Grateful they had an opening for lunch for a huge party. We made reservations without a hitch. We got a closed off section so we could be apart from the diners. We all ordered Appetizers. We got 5 Deviled Crabs, which we all split in half, as they are huge. We got mozzarella fritti, cheese sticks, which we shared as well. They went as soon as they were placed on table. I wish we gotten the calamari but perhaps next time. I do hear it's just as awesome. Appetizers were delish! We all ordered our meals, some got sandwiches and fries. Some got meals with salad and others got the baked chicken (which I hear is amazing). I got the Italian salad and the chicken parmigiana and it was ahh-mazing. Our waiter, forgive me I never got his name, was patient, friendly and very quick to fill our glasses. He brought our foods and gave suggestions. Overall we had an excellent Christmas Work Lunch at Carmine's - now if only I wasn't so full for dessert!

I wish I'd read Yelp reviews before dining here. Our tour guide recommended it. stopped in for lunch and the restaurant was mostly full but not packed. We ordered the devided crab and sandwiches. We ordered the crab 10 minutes before the sandwiches but our server brought both at the same time. There was no apology. We didn't enjoy any of the food. The crab was bland, my sandwich was bland and my husband's Cuban was so poor tasting it would make you hate Cuban sandwiches in general. The sandwiches are huge and didn't come with a side. We split frys. They were pretty good but very greasy. We did enjoy sitting by the windows and watching people walk by.

We had a great meal here in Ybor tonight! The food was amazingly delicious and the service was top-notch! The place is really cool, great vibe and right downtown Ybor! They were kind enough to split everything for us!! Kudos to the cooks, the flavors were wonderful!

Stopped in for dinner before a show we are going to see and was not disappointed. Kailey was an amazing server and was on top of things. Great place for a bite in a ybor city classic. The food was amazing as usual. Definitely stop in for a meal.

Takeout lasagna for lunch. This dish is HEAVY. Super cheesy and oily, but if this is the mood you're in for that super satisfying hearty and filling cheesy comfort food, this will absolutely hit. I cant eat the whole thing in one setting so this is about 2-3 meals for me. This is one of those meals just as good in restaurant as take out. I would recommend a try!

When Ybor City you gotta have a Cuban Sandwich! We found Carmine's. The place has history. Is huge with a comfortable bar. We bellied up starving and thirsty. We waited and waited. Finally the bartender stopped by and dropped menus turned on his heels and he was off to win the came to continue a conversation with bar patrons. No offer of drinks just menus. So we waited again.. finally another stop. We each ordered local beers and then he forgot to pour as he was off to see the bar patrons. A glance caused him to remember.. finally beers. Seizing the moment we each ordered their famous Cuban Sandwich. The sandwich arrived and did not disappoint however the prep time was long and our beers were getting low. The bar patrons were getting louder and the bartender was an instigator. So no 2nd beers for us. 3 stars for food 1 star for food runner 0stars for bartender

The Cuban sandwich had the perfect bread and was satisfying. The deviled crab was meh at best. I would not order it again. There was a lot of breading and the crab was overpowered by the bell pepper and wasn't seasoned well. The service was amazing. Our server was knowledgeable, honest, and attentive. The ambiance is comfortable and is a relaxed environment, great for friends.

    Spanish House salad

Overpriced!! Ordered the Spanish House salad for almost $9.00 and it is literally about a cup of iceberg, 3 tiny olives, a few tiny pieces of tomato and a sprinkle of cheese. Ridiculous.

I came for lunch with a group of coworkers who could not stop raving about how great this place was. We started with the crab deviled egg. I thought it was okay but a bit dry. On the other hand, the tuna appetizer was fresh and tasty, definitely a highlight. The calamari was also good. I ordered the Palomilla steak. The steak had good flavor but was slightly overcooked but adding the onions and parsley really helped elevate it. Service was friendly and welcoming, but a bit on the slow side. Overall, some hits and some misses but it looks like it would be a great spot to come at night.

If there were six stars I would give it that! I tried the Cuban sandwich and the fried green tomatoes. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and the portion sizes for the price were great. The service was great and the atmosphere was great! If I ever hear of anyone going to Tampa I will gladly recomm

As the oldest restaurant in Florida and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world, we felt it was a must-visit to experience its rich history and unique atmosphere. We also reserved seats for the Flamenco dance show, which had a $10 cover charge per person. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and enormous, with so many different dining rooms. You could probably get lost trying to find your friends inside, just kidding! We were lucky enough to get a table near the stage, so we could enjoy the Flamenco performance while having dinner. For our meal, we started with the Caldo Gallego "Giant Soup" ($10), which was hearty, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered Columbia's Original "1905" Salad ($18). Made with crisp iceberg lettuce, julienned baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomatoes, olives, grated Romano cheese, Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire sauce, and their famous garlic dressing, it was fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. Our main dish was the Mojito Chicken ($25). The chicken was very flavorful, especially with its delicious citrus-garlic sauce. Although the chicken itself was just a little on the dry side in my opinion, the flavorful sauce made up for it, and the dish was still very enjoyable. We also had the Paella "a la Valenciana" ($40), which was loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, chicken, and pork, along with green peppers, Spanish onions, ripe tomatoes, garlic, and a splash of white wine. It was a generous portion packed with fresh seafood and rich Spanish flavors. The New York Strip Sirloin "The Bambino" ($53) was another excellent choice. The 14 oz. USDA Choice wet-aged boneless strip steak was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. To finish our meal, we ordered the Flan ($8). It was smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious, a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. The Flamenco dance show was fantastic! The dancers were energetic and passionate, making the entire dining experience even more lively and memorable. Combined with the excellent service, it made for a truly enjoyable evening. Overall, Columbia Restaurant is much more than just a place to eat, it's a historic landmark and an unforgettable dining experience. Between the beautiful Spanish architecture, rich history, delicious food, outstanding service, and exciting Flamenco performance, it's definitely worth visiting when you're in Ybor City.

My husband and I ordered the same thing but they tasted very different. We both got medium steaks, the one he got was a proper medium while mine medium rare to rare. The host made us feel incredibly unwelcome. We asked for a table and she informed us there weren't any (which is fine, a little attitude but I get it we didn't have a reservation) so we went to the lounge area. While there, we saw online that they did have availability so we booked. We spent over 30 mins in the lounge and no one took our order. When it was time for our table the host was aggressive as soon as she recognized us, said that the system online was wrong and that there are no tables. So we went back to the lounge.. honestly to figure out where to go next. Shortly after we got a message saying our table was ready, when my husband asked about it, she told him to sit back down that she will tell us when it's truly ready. Anyways, she came back reluctantly, saying that I guess people canceled so we can go in. The server was nice but was rarely there and would take a long time doing things like bringing menu.

My wife should have added 'bring them together' but she didn't and the server didn't bother to ask so the empanadas came out and everything else came out 15 minutes later. My wife had a cocktail and the bill was $60.20. Issues to fix: 1)I ordered a Coca Cola, $4.00 and in 92 degree weather it melts in 5 minutes. We were there for an hour and not one time did she ask if I'd like a refill. 2)When she made the 1905 table side she literally 'dropped' a handful of salad ON THE FLOOR between my wife's and my seat......she kind of chuckled, gave us our salads and walked away. She literally left the SALAD ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE MEAL! During the course of our meal probably 20 employees walked by and never bothered to pick it up. That in itself was the epitome of laziness and complete lack of respect to the customer. Our bill was $60.20 and I tipped $12 which normally I'm a 30% tipper and I could kick myself for giving her 20%. She deserved zero. I know I will never get a response from management but do you think I will ever come back? Nyet.
