If you don't like dogs, just be aware that a very calm and sweet dog walks the halls freely to ensure guests are comfortable and happy with their stay. The bar/kitchen is open use for guests to use and there's a hiker box behind the bar. (They do not serve or sell, in other words, plenty of other places nearby for that if you want!) The Avon is within walking distance (lol) of everything you need in Silverton. Would definitely stay here again, whether I'm hiking in or driving in to visit Silverton.

More specifically, we heard what was described as "the best room in the place" offered to the gentleman checking in directly before us for $182. For nearly $300 a night, we expected a much better experience. Our toilet was also clogged, which certainly didn't help. I reached out to the hotel directly before posting a review because, as locals, I wanted to give them an opportunity to address our concerns. The response explained dynamic pricing and that rooms can range from $49-$385, depending on the room and time of year. I completely understand how dynamic pricing works, but that explanation didn't really address why we had just paid nearly $300 while hearing "the best room in the place" offered for $182 during the same check-in period. I was also disappointed that the clogged toilet was characterized as something that was "easy to miss by housekeeping." At this price point, a functioning bathroom feels like a pretty basic expectation. We really wanted to like this place and hoped, as locals, it could be somewhere we would return to or recommend to others. Unfortunately, between the price, the room issue, and the response to our concerns, the overall experience left us feeling like the value simply wasn't there.

I see pizzas and Panini's being delivered to tables and it all looks pretty legit. Looks like great unique pizzas on the menu, a couple of classics, and you can build your own, which is pretty cool. If I hadn't had a big lunch, I definitely be diving into a pizza. I guess I'll save it for next time.

Instead of being welcomed, we were immediately interrogated by the woman at the front, then questioned again by the bartender. We were seated and left sitting there for 30 minutes without a single person taking our order or offering service. Our waitress even apologized and admitted she "hates that she can't help us," making it obvious the staff had intentionally decided not to serve us. Throughout the entire time, my service dog was exactly where a service dog should be--quietly lying under the table at my feet, causing absolutely no disruption. After waiting half an hour, I finally asked if we were ever going to be served. That's when we were told the issue was my service dog. When I questioned this, the bartender's response was to tell me I "didn't need an attitude." I've written maybe five Yelp reviews in my life, but this experience deserves to be shared. The way we were treated was humiliating, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. It felt like we were being singled out simply because I have a disability and rely on a service animal. All six of us got up and left because of how we were treated. Small businesses deserve support when they treat people with respect. This business did the opposite. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I sincerely hope no one else has to experience the kind of discrimination we did.

We ordered the carne asada tacos, pastor pork tacos, a cup of tortilla soup, fresh homemade chips with salsa and queso, and the Mexican street corn. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and served in generous portions. The tortilla soup was hands down some of the best I've ever had rich, comforting, and packed with flavor! The homemade chips were fresh and crispy, and the queso was a perfect complement. The hot sauce had a wonderfully roasted flavor that was unique and delicious. The Mexican street corn was a little different than what I'm used to it seemed to be made with Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise but it was still tasty. The tacos were huge and loaded with meat, making for an incredibly satisfying and very filling meal. Overall, we had wonderful, friendly service and enjoyed every bite. If you're looking for flavorful food, generous portions, and a great dining experience in Silverton, El Bandito is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Finally the barbacoa street tacos and the carne asada burrito smothered with salsa verse was the bomb! We ate every bite and then had to try a churro. Wow! This place is over the top in customer service and quality of food. If you are in Silverton, you need to be sure to visit! They are also called the Bent Elbow. So happy we found this place!
