The atmosphere is laid-back but still fun and lively, and we were lucky enough to dine in one of their private rooms, which had a warm, cozy, and classy vibe with fireplace --perfect for a mountain town eating. Our food came out exactly as ordered and was delicious. What really stood out was the service--our server was attentive, friendly, and had excellent knowledge of the cocktail menu, even giving us spot-on recommendations that paired perfectly with our meal. Really cool place next to the slopes. The gondola ride is free to go on that takes you to this spot. We sat outside at the bar area to enjoy the view and cool weather. This is my favorite place to have lunch and apres. Try the burgers and the chicken pot pie with the puff pastry top. The tap list is Telluride heavy, but that is expected. There is a beautiful horseshoe bar packed with skiers and tourists. It can get crowded, so plan ahead. Food comes out fast, but the bartenders get busy, so be sure to flag them done when you run dry. read more

I've been coming to Tomboy Tavern for over half my life, and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon. The staff are so kind, and they truly care about their customers. The aesthetics on the inside are perfect for a slope-side "cowboy" style restaurant. With old photos on the walls, and the wood floors, it's a little time capsule in modern Telluride, and I couldn't love it more. The food is perfect fuel for being on the hill all day. Tomboy Tavern is a fun spot! I've had it as a mid-ski lunch in the winter and also a lunch venture in the summer--both experiences were great. The winter experience was pretty jovial, with people excited about skiing and taking a break. The food is upscale pub food--I've had both the burger and chicken sandwich and thought they were good, and the fries were particularly tasty. This place is disgraceful. A waiter was harassing my friend and I. He was being disrespectful and making sexual comments. When we informed the manager and the waiter, the waiter changed his story about 10xs and was laughing the entire time. The manager was smirking as well. This was not taken seriously. We were paying customers and have never been treated so poorly. They clearly do not care about their patrons and condone sexual harassment. read more

I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner unless you're looking for something on the higher end of price-per-plate. We came in with the idea of the lunch menu on our minds and were disappointed to receive fewer, and more expensive, choices on the dinner menu. You can only order two burgers off of the lunch menu during the dinner hours. My husband said he enjoyed the fettuccine, but the baby Kale and quinoa was so overpoweringly acidic that it tasted of lemon and not anything else. I couldn't even get through the whole dish before my tongue was hurting and burning from the acid. I am giving this place three stars because the staff was great and I feel like there is some serious untapped potential. We just recently over the Christmas holidays had a terrible experience here. Three of us stopped in for a quick lunch while skiing. They were happy to seat us but neglected to tell us that the wait time would be more than a half hour to even expect to get our food yet management knew this to be the case . we were told this by a waiter toward the end of our visit. We, like many of the other patrons were obviously there for a quick lunch so we could back to skiing and not to drink and waste time. After 30 minutes we kept on asking when the food would be ready. No one else was getting their food either and we got the same answer about 15 more minutes and then 15 more minutes. After the second promise and many apologies,( we had already gotten drinks) so I offered to pay for them and leave. They bagged us to stay saying that the food was coming out soon at 45 minutes or more. They said they would be happy to give it to us for free. A little while after that they did bring the food. I reassured the waiter that we were not upset at him but only at management for not telling us about the time issue. I handed him a cash tip. In two minutes a very angry manager came over and asked me how the food was . I said we had not had time to try it yet. He then threw the tip that I had given to the waiter at me. Very unprofessional behavior. We told the waiter again the tip was his and asked could we please leave it for him. The waiter conceded that we could leave the tip on the table. It's like management had control of his tips as well. The manager was very inappropriate. I would not recommend this to anyone for any reason. read more

Cool place in Mountain Village to grab a drink or some food. Tomboy Tavern is conveniently located at the base of Telluride Resort and next to the gondola station. You can literally ski or board right up to it and place your gear on the storage rack outside the door. For lunch and dinner they serve a menu with upscale American cuisine. I've never eaten here, but have grabbed a drink many times. The outdoor patio is heated during the winter and has great views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains. Wilson Peak (the mountain on the Coors Light logo) is visible from the patio area too. Tomboy has over 15 beers on tap, a selection of wines and a variety of specialty cocktails. They have a big horseshoe bar in the middle as well as several large booths to accommodate a number of large parties. I sat at the bar and got a cup of suds to go along with my grilled chicken Caesar Salad. It was all pretty tasty. The service was top notch too, and they were busy. Omg the food!!! Stopped here after a full day of hiking and sat at the outside bar. We ordered the chicken pot pie with the "side" (a large portion) salad and the hoisin ribs with noodles and slaw. This is exactly what we ordered and then shared. We first did the burger, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. It's always a nice touch when a restaurant kitchen splits a shared item like this and Tomboy did not disappoint on this aspect. The truffle fries were good and were a decent quantity. Next, we ordered the wings, which were equally as tasty and impressively meaty. Despite being sufficiently satiated by the aforementioned dishes and not typically ones to order dessert, we went ahead and ordered the cookie skillet, which was amazing and devoured before the idea of snapping a pictured occurred. With high-quality food, a respectable craft beer selection and top-notch service (thanks Mike) we would not hesitate to recommend or return to Tomboy! read more
