Carne Asada Burritos Smothered in Chile Verde were delicious. My wife and I stopped in Silverton on our way to Ouray. It was lunch time, so we landed at El Bandito. We will definitely hit this place again next time we are in Silverton. We started with House Margaritas, Chips and Salsa. All of which were very good. Then we had the Carne Asada Burritos Smothered in Chile Verde. I regrettably finished mine. It was delicious, but huge. I was stuffed. My wife took half of hers to go. The El pork pastor tacos are the best I've ever had in my life! They have amazing salsa and everything is made from scratch. This is my favorite restaurant in silverton by far. This place had potential. Marg was solid, nachos decent. Unfortunately, they were setting up for an event and decided to throw customer service out the window. Nobody greeted me when I came in. Took at least 5 minutes for the bartender to bring me a menu even though I was one of two people at the bar. The band was doing the loudest and most horrible sound check, constant screeching and feedback, for 30 whole minutes. The manager and bartender decided to set down cases of lime juice and boxes of liquor in front of my seat at the bar so they could prepare their batch drink for the event. I know these guys were busy doing lots of stuff, but a "hello" and "how's your meal?" go a long way. I'm just bummed that all their efforts were going to their music event and that they left me feeling like an afterthought. read more

I am giving this place a five star review with a BIG CAVEAT, do not go here if you are taking the Silverton train back. We visited as a family of five. I have three kids who are ten and under. Two are neurodivergent and one is two. We waited about an hour for food after ordering. With only about an hour and thirty minutes in Silverton, this was unacceptable. I needed time to explore the city to get my kids' energy out. Basically, all we did was eat and use the restroom. Kinda stank. My suggestion to them is to warn guest of the time to get food before they sit down to order OR take take-out orders where they text guest when they are ready. This allows train riders to explore the city. My husband and I ended up taking turns walking our kids around while waiting for food. I am giving it five stars because the food was solid. We are from the west. This is good Mexican food. The waiter was also nice, but the wait was out of his control. I was obviously annoyed, but it was annoying. read more

We didn't realize that a lot of the restaurants in Silverton are closed on Saturday nights, so ended up here as a last resort but were thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. The food was great! The salsa was incredible. Chicken burrito smothered in salsa verde was really good. Pastor tacos were great. We travel a lot and have eaten at subpar Mexican restaurants all across the West. Sat down to get some tacos and the waitress suggested the guacamole and chips. When she brought it she recommended mixing it with the pico de gallo and the special house hot sauce. Holy cow! Overall, clean and friendly service. Menu just needs some work. Bowl was fresh and good except the rice. Rice was like sushi rice, really weird, sticky and flavorless. The Creamy chicken Enchiladas were the worst thing we ordered. Super dry, chicken was basically just boiled chicken with no seasoning. Tortillas were dry, sauce was solid and not creamy at all. We asked for a kids easy cheese and tortillas quesadilla (since they have meat and side versions on the menu) and they still charged us $13 for cheese and tortilla.
