It's conveniently located in town and near a few hiking trails. One of the times I went here I actually walked over after a hike. They have two outdoor patios, a back room, bar area, and front room... oh, and a bay window with more seating. This is a very popular spot for the locals. During the day it was very busy and a little noisy; I was glad there was outdoor space to eat as well. I tried their tea, burgers, chicken and fries. Everything I had here was delicious and fresh! The Avon is actually a SUPER nice hostel/historic hotel - I was really happy with my stay! The only…read morereason I didn't give 5 stars is bc check in was a bit confusing; when I arrived there was no staff at the desk or in the lobby, and I didn't receive any info about how to check in. However, when I arrived I hunted down a phone number in an old confirmation email and got directly in contact with someone (David) who told me exactly how to find my room key and explained where everything was. The whole place is fairly spacious! There are three floors (my room was a 5-bed dorm style room on the third floor), and the main bathroom is on the third floor too. It had two very clean shower stalls with plenty of toiletries for showers, and 3 bathroom stalls. The whole vibe of the bathroom was old Victorian rustic - very cute. The 5 bed room was shockingly comfy too - there were at least 3 other people in my room (clearly all hikers as well, very friendly), and I was bottom bunk. The beds themselves were super comfy, the pillows seemed like memory foam or something similar, and each bed had a fan and wall outlets. There was enough space under the bunks and on the little desk that the room didn't feel overcrowded with luggage either. And there was a small movie theater area in the basement, kitchen behind the lobby desk that is for everyone to use, and some little tables and chairs around including on the second floor which is where I ate dinner. Ngl, I actually appreciated that there were 3 others in my room and clearly several other people also staying in the Avon because it has a "haunted" feel to it, but having so many other happy/friendly hikers and travelers around just makes it feel cozy and safe. Overall: this place is in silverton, a super cute little Colorado town near tons of awesome hikes and gorgeous million dollar freeway! It is cozy, clean, and has plenty of resources.
