To her credit, our kind waitress had the kitchen quickly make me a new one, but honestly it was still borderline inedible. This time, due to the salt. Not only was the meat heavily salted, but the breading was overly salted as well. I couldn't even taste the meat or the breading (or even the potatoes) because it wasn't a giant plate of salt. I ate all the broccolini, a few bites of potatoes, and a few bites of steak. I hate that all restaurants, because of patrons and their salt-conditioned palates, serve the most sodium-laden monstrosities possible. I didn't feel good eating it, I didn't want to eat more than a few bites, and I left the restaurant full of regret for the bites I did take. On the plus side, the beer is exceptionally tasty, and my kids both enjoyed their meals. We are leaving tomorrow and so we won't be back, but I wouldn't be back otherwise as well.

Food- 4 stars Service- 5 stars Ambience- 4 1/2 stars Our server (I think Isaac?) was fantastic. He was super busy but always took care of us. We all ordered drinks and some food items. The spinach/artichoke dip was a bit heavy and overcooked. You def could not dip your chips in it. I got the poblano chx fried steak. It was good but also a bit overcooked. Some folks got burgers and pizza and they all said it was fine. Go for the service and drinks!! Fun atmosphere. Sorry- it was too crazy trying to get pics.

Always love coming to Smuggler's when we visit Telluride! Always a five star chicken sandwich!…read moreIt's not something I normally order other places, but it's absolutely delicious here. They give you lots of condiments to top it with. By the time I got done building it, it was about 4 inches high. Lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, bacon, provolone, avocado... Chicken was moist. Aioli was fabulous. Thank you for always having gluten-free buns for us!!! We also enjoyed the fresh brewed root beer and ginger beer. The table and benches were very clean- super important to me! Thank you for the excellent service, Taylor! You are attentive and an excellent server. We'll be back soon!

So I was definitely excited to visit on my anniversary and enjoy a nice meal for our special day. Last weekend on our Anniversary we went out & were seated, our order taken - drinks came, & food delivered - she asked if we needed anything else ? And we NEVER SAW HER AGAIN! EVER. We were literal hostages there. Not a refill, no condiments on the table & the food severely lacked seasoning ( I fortunately had salt packets with me) NOTHING. About an hour later By chance a coworker saw us sitting there & we flagged him down - thankfully he got us boxes, printed the receipt & told us that he thought she might be in a break because he couldn't find her. SO SHE DISAPPEARED?! First time ever in my life that I've not tipped on a meal - same for my husband. $111 bill for under seasoned Sysco food (the food was Not good either) the best part?? an additional 4% health & housing surcharge for their employees!!

If you don't like dogs, just be aware that a very calm and sweet dog walks the halls freely to ensure guests are comfortable and happy with their stay. The bar/kitchen is open use for guests to use and there's a hiker box behind the bar. (They do not serve or sell, in other words, plenty of other places nearby for that if you want!) The Avon is within walking distance (lol) of everything you need in Silverton. Would definitely stay here again, whether I'm hiking in or driving in to visit Silverton.

More specifically, we heard what was described as "the best room in the place" offered to the gentleman checking in directly before us for $182. For nearly $300 a night, we expected a much better experience. Our toilet was also clogged, which certainly didn't help. I reached out to the hotel directly before posting a review because, as locals, I wanted to give them an opportunity to address our concerns. The response explained dynamic pricing and that rooms can range from $49-$385, depending on the room and time of year. I completely understand how dynamic pricing works, but that explanation didn't really address why we had just paid nearly $300 while hearing "the best room in the place" offered for $182 during the same check-in period. I was also disappointed that the clogged toilet was characterized as something that was "easy to miss by housekeeping." At this price point, a functioning bathroom feels like a pretty basic expectation. We really wanted to like this place and hoped, as locals, it could be somewhere we would return to or recommend to others. Unfortunately, between the price, the room issue, and the response to our concerns, the overall experience left us feeling like the value simply wasn't there.
