My friend told me about this place and I haven't gone to any other restaurants for Com Tam since. I've dine in and ordered take out a few times from Com Tam Dat Thanh and I can definitely say that it's my favorite for Com Tam and they are very consistent with the quality of the food!! I haven't tried their pho because you can tell they are known for their rice places and you can tell because they have like 2-3 pages of just rice plates. You can't really go wrong with any of the plates, its just a matter of how hungry you are and if you prefer pork/beef. If you don't know what to get, I recommend the Special Combination since it comes with basically everything. When I ordered the Special Combo for take out, this fed 3 people!!! The plates are really filling even if you don't get the Special Combo, they don't skimp out on anything, and if you've dine in you know they have these huge bottles of Nuoc Mam and definitely aren't stingy with it. Definitely a hole in the wall but would recommend to anyone. read more

Omg. I love their broken rice plates. The first time I came here I was a bit skeptical because the rice seemed dry and hard. But what do I know? I never had it before. Ever since then I would get the rice plates with the beef short ribs and the grilled pork and it never fails!! Food comes out, the service is so attentive. Their rice is my favorite now - it is soft, comes out extra hot, and breaks in my mouth. This is my Togo spot whenever I'm craving rice plates but it's such a bummer that it is SO far from my house, considering I live closer to Elk Grove. DELICIOUS!!! Having frequented at least a dozen other Vietnamese eateries in Sacramento, Elk Grove, and the bay area, this place is the best. My husband and I had a 7:30 p.m. dinner a few nights ago. The owner served us and he was welcoming and very kind. My hubby ordered the special combination #3, I had #41 and we started the meal with an awesome pair of spring rolls. The meats are grilled to order and all are well flavored, succulent and not overcooked or dry like shrimp normally is at other places. Don't take a big bite (test it first) or you'll burn your mouth. I think I just found my new go to spot for Vietnamese rice plates and noodle plates! This review is just for the food because I got to try it via takeout. So my little sister had order the noodle plate with grilled beef and that was really flavorful and they used the super skinny noodle which makes it so much better and like tasty. I also got to try the egg rolls which I really enjoyed because they were made with the rice paper wrap which I like more than the regular egg roll wrappers. First time here. Restaurant decor was simple but comfortable and warm. Tables and floor were clean. We were greeted with a smile. The menu is extensive. I wanted some authentic Pho and they did not disappoint. I had the combination beef Pho. And the fried shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls came with lettuce carrots noodles and green leafy spices. They were delicious. The Pho was really good as well. And all the bean sprouts and veggies were super clean and fresh. Definitely give this place a try. Best beef short ribs I have ever tried! It was sweet and salty in moderation and it had a wonderful grilled flavor to it. The veggies on the side acts as a palate cleanser which was great . Got a pork and egg rolls vermicelli bowl. The egg rolls are authentic, wrapped with rice paper. This is rare to find nowadays as most use Chinese flour wrappers, different in taste and texture. The whole meal was pretty substantial. Pork was a tad too sweet for me, but overall tastes good. I liked the egg rolls a lot. They have pretty good broken rice plates and they give a lot. The pho is alright but the rice plates are the best. The beef one was bomb.

Came here on a slow Thursday evening for a quick dinner. Service was mediocre. We weren't greeted, but gestured to sit down. We found our places and in the next few minutes our server came to ask if we were ready. We ordered (2) Pho Bowls and (1) Nem Cuon Appetizer. The nem cuon came out and it tasted fresh and delicious. The sauce it came out with was also delicious. On the table there was nuoc mam Cham which I helped myself to with the nem cuon and it was equally fresh tasting and delicious. The pho then came out and it was mediocre. It was nothing outstanding, broth plain, but it did smell great. I wasn't a fan of their meatballs as they weren't beef balls and had a resemblance to fish balls. After about halfway through my bowl of pho, I found a gnat inside my bowl. Not sure if it was there when I started or it flew in. The door was open & the fan was on. I didn't make a big deal, but I did stop eating. And, we promptly left. Due to the stellar reviews about the rice plates, I may come back, but not entirely sure as I was thirsty and my cup was empty and never refilled. read more

This is my go-to restaurant for vegetarian pho. It is spicy which I enjoy but I'm sure they could leave out the heat. The noodles are more spaghetti like than typical flat rice noodle. Everytime I go to Foodco, which is in the same plaza, there is always this nice bbq smell lingering in the parking lot. I was on the phone with my bf trying to see if he would like anything because he likes any rice plate with pork chops and a sunny side up egg. The man gave me a book with images of the food since We had a hard time deciding what we were going to get. I ordered the Pork Spring Rolls, my bf had the #24 with a sunny side up egg, and a Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Our order came out really fast. I say less that 10 minutes being that it was empty. The Vietnamese ice coffee was super duper strong compared to other places. The spring rolls were so good with the sauce!! But ummm I was kind of upset because I thought it would have vermicelli noodles in it, but it didn't. It was still super delicious tho! The 24 was really good, but we weren't a fan of the shrimp wrapped sugar caned it was still super good, we just wanted regular grilled shrimp. So we will order the 28 next time! The vermicelli bowls here were delicious and fresh. My husband got the pork and egg roll bowl while I got the chicken and egg roll bowl, and both bowls were flavorful. The reason that I docked one star was because I am traveling through Sacramento, and was looking for a place to take a break/dine in/ bathroom break/etc. The COVID update written on Yelp by the owners in June says they offer dine in. Most the rice plates are identical with the exception of protein and type of "cake". We got the pork and chicken rice plate with the egg cake and it was very good. The plates also come with a side of broth to "cleanse the palette". Portions are generous and meat was cooked and marinated very well. Service was friendly and the place had plenty of seating and is definitely family/kid friendly. Four stars because some people in our party thought the chicken was slightly salty and the restaurant was very humid/warm. Not sure if there was something wrong with the AC, but after being out in 100 degree weather, not a very pleasant dining experience. Hopefully they get that fixed, will definitely return. read more

I walked in because I seen the sign when I was on my way to Subway. I asked about gluten-free options and she gave me the options to do anything that has noodles with extra veggies on the bottom.I asked about soy sauce in any of the barbecue marinade and she explained to me that I had vinegar fish oil and one other ingredient but none had gluten. In five or six minutes my food was a was prepared being the only customer I still found that impressive. The amount of food, vegetables and meat was astonishing. I also drink a fresh squeezed orange juice that they make every day she offered me sugar because it may be tart but it was some of the best worst yes I had just the way it was.overall this new little restaurant was an excellent experience for food to go in a timely manner. read more
