I'm all about supporting local businesses and love to try out new coffee shops but was pretty disappointed with this one. I would not come back and would not recommend it to others. Customer service is a huge part of a business and was greatly lacking here! The employee serving us was very rude and unpleasant and appeared annoyed at us throughout our visit. The coffee was good but overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather go somewhere else where I am treated more respectfully. After having a bad experience here in the past, I decided to give it another chance since their coffee and pastries were delicious! I was wrong. Walking in, I felt a weird vibe from the lady behind the counter. She was huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes the entire time myself and the other ladies in my group were ordering. She never made eye contact with me while I was at the register and continued to throw my change at me, resulting in it all rolling off the counter. Its a bummer I will not return, but this seems to be a trend here considering all the negative reviews due to bad customer service! Seems like the owner needs to reconsider who she hires. read more

I'm giving this two stars, simply for the fact that it is underneath my workplace. In the event I am desperate for coffee I can head downstairs for a fresh cup. Make sure you know what you want to order before coming as they do not have any visible menu for you to see from the front window, you have to walk right up to the counter just to see the 8.5"x5" sheet of paper with a menu on it. Don't worry though, there won't be a line so you will have plenty of time to decide. The food options are below average. The muffins are awfully dry and the donuts taste like they came from an Entenmann's box. The big cinnamon glob is probably your best option and that is giving yourself a 50/50 shot at satisfaction. Their signature coffee isn't something that will keep you coming back and that is a bit of a problem. Isn't that what a coffee shop should be about? EDIT: After giving Coma another chance, I find myself surprised with the friendliness I experienced. Although my first view visits were a disappointment, Coma seems to have snuck up on me. I got the Colombian roast coffee and it was the perfect temperature. I also got the chance to try the carrot loaf and that was great! Macy (the owner) warmed it up for me, she is there everyday I think and she really tries to make her customers feel welcome. Give Coma a chance! I think we are only seeing the beginnings of good things to come for this place. They are very receptive to adapting to their customers and this is a good thing for an up and coming coffee stop. read more

I moved into the neighborhood a few months ago and finally tried out Coma Coffee. I was very surprised by their great space; dont let the office building fool you, their store is hip, clean, comfortable, and large. I had a Dirty Chai which is hard to come by in Saint Louis. Delicious! The service was outstanding and the owner Macy was friendly and took the time to talk about their operation while my chai was being made. This was my first visit. I got take out. I was confused where I should park. You can pull right up to the front of the building. I ordered a vanilla latte, CBD matcha, and a family latte. The latte was delicious. The family latte was made perfectly, and it puts a smile on my face every morning. I did not have the matcha but I was told it tastes like matcha you would have in Japan. Holy moly!!! This hidden gem is my new favorite place! Not only is it locally owned, their food and coffee is the best I've had! Their coffee is fresh without the burnt taste most people are used to from a major corporation. I had their bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich and practically keeled over it was so good! I stumbled upon Coma Coffee Roasters when I had a little downtime one morning. The reviews looked great, the location couldn't be beat, and most importantly... it was open, so we gave it a try. As always, this was a Yelp! gem. Coma is a total sensory experience. We walked in and were greeted by a wonderful aroma of coffee and eucalyptus. Not to be neglected, the space is stunning - high ceilings, ample natural light, great decor and very funky artwork. I ordered a latte and my fiance, ever so daring, ordered a caramel latte. Our drinks were up in no time and gone much quicker than that! The coffee was delicious and steamed milk perfection. We even had little hearts drawn in the foam. Coma is possibly my favorite coffee place in the STL area. That's saying a lot, as there are a lot of good coffee options these days. But Coma is really good. Both its espresso and its cold brew are top-notch. In fact, the cold brew recently came in 2nd in a big coffee competition in Chicago. And the space it's in is quite nice--high ceilings and lots of seating. It's a little hidden in an office building near the mall, and often not very crowded during the day--so I find it a great place to come work. But it won't be a secret for very long. I go to Coma Coffee on a regular basis. You will ALWAYS get a great cup of coffee. The beans are roasted well - not over done, so the actual taste of the coffee comes out.
