Came here for brunch with friends and sat outside which was very pleasant. You can actually have a conversation and also the weather was perfect. The service was very attentive. We ordered a chai tea latte, a cortado, iced hibiscus tea and a mushroom tea with espresso to start. Everyone was very happy with their drinks. I had been to Ivy in the past and didn't love the food but this time I decided to order a Tarine. I can't remember the name but it had whipped feta, pistachios and honey and I added a fried egg on top. It was delicious and very filling. My friends ordered the Morning salad, breakfast sandwich, and a steak salad. We all enjoyed our meals. Overall I am glad I decided to give Ivy another try bc I had a very pleasant experience.

Cute spot in Clayton that serves super fresh breakfast. The entire staff was very attentive and worked seamlessly around a boil order (which meant no coffee or espresso). Highly recommend making a reservation.

Ivy Cafe is honestly such a lovely place! The vibes are perfect for lunch with friends or family, and the atmosphere is always on point. The service is super sweet as well! I do recommend reserving a table since it can get pretty busy plus it's always packed, and for good reason. I highly recommend the pesto pasta with chicken or steak, and the meatballs are also amazing. I just love all their options, so I can't wait to go back and try more!

So cute! My stepson booked this while we were in town visiting and we had a lovely brunch here. Service was great and they have a nice brunch/breakfast menu as well as some great lunch options (which start at 11:30). We tried several things and coffees - my husband got a bourbon with coffee ice cubes (ew, but he loved it), two hot vanilla lattes and an iced lavender latte. All drinks were delicious. Brioche French toast, steak and eggs, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and overnight oats with a parmesan rosemary scone. The overnight oats were delicious and a huge portion with fresh strawberries and banana. Very good. Vibes inside are cute brunch and we loved it. Several other pastries available. Their lunch menu is pretty good and also includes a few of the breakfast staples as a carry-over if you want breakfast for lunch. Def. a spot to come to again and again.

I came here to try the coffee and the tartine before a show so I was glad that they still served coffee past 2PM. I ordered the Evergreen which is with avocado and watermelon radish, it was okay, a little on the pricier side for avocado toast. I enjoyed the coffee though! Service was good, staff was nice and friendly and the dish and drinks came out fairly quickly. I would probably come back and try other dishes next time.

First time at Ivy Café in Clayton and WOW--what a hidden gem! This cozy, cute spot blew us away with their massive menu lineup: morning, afternoon, evening options, plus separate coffee, libations, and wine-by-the-glass lists. We had NO idea they serve dinner too! I sipped on a gorgeous Pink Dragonfruit Matcha while Scott went for the Lavender Honey Latte--both so dreamy For food, I devoured the Buckingham Tartine (avocado, feta, pomegranate... perfection), and Scott loved his three-cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup The real shocker? They have FIFTEEN different tartine options on the menu!! Count 'em--15! I'm already plotting my return to try them all. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you're in the Clayton area, add Ivy Café to your list ASAP--you won't be disappointed!

When we arrived we were seated right away. It's small inside and so even though it was an off-time (around 3pm on a Saturday) there were only two or three small tables left. You have to pay to park on the street as there is not a dedicated lot. Also, since it's so small inside you can hear other people's conversations. Though the interior is nice with a lot of greenery. I ordered the Cherokee, which I enjoyed, to me it had a Tajín taste. My husband ordered the red wine conundrum. We ordered the fried pickles which were really the star of the show, they were so thin and crispy, it was wonderful, with some house made sauces to boot. I ordered the pot pie as it was a cold day and the crust was wonderful but the interior was a bit blasè, mostly potatoes it seemed. My spouse enjoyed his grilled cheese and tomato soup. Service was mostly pleasant with one server who seemed not thrilled to be there, as we had several people wait on us. Enjoyable since we were in the area.

Incredible food! Wonderful service. It's definitely a team atmosphere, a couple of servers waited on us. Quite busy for lunch but everything flowed perfectly. The bread is made by the owner and so are the dishes. I think that is so neat!!

Popped in for an iced coffee to go before work today and the barista was so friendly! It was pretty quiet at 7am on a Thursday but the coffee was delicious.

I had never heard of this place until I met friends here for breakfast. They are known for their sourdough tartines (take a large slice of sourdough bread and heap different toppings on it then serve it open face). I was skeptical that I would like it so I ordered a boring 2 egg and sausages plate that did come with a slice of sourdough and homemade strawberry jam. The eggs were cooked perfectly to over easy and the sausage was fantastic. I enjoyed the sourdough too. It was a lot of food. Of course the real story is that I had order envy when my friends tartines came out. Ha ha Next time- right? They loved their food too. I got a cup of chai. Great except their cute glass mugs allow it to cool off way too fast.

Cute cafe with open space but made me feel claustrophobic due to the close proximity with other tables. The place was quite loud. Tiny, seemingly delicate tables fill the space with cute decor which includes real flowers and plants. We came for dinner, made reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. They put your names on reserved tables which was a special touch. Service was quick and attentive except for the time after our entrée were delivered and we waited to order more drinks but our waitress hasn't been back for a while. I did flag her eventually close to the end of our meal and she came over to check on us. We ordered some drinks. I had the Fairground and he had the Gateway arch. Both cocktails were excellent. I started with the beet and goat cheese salad. It was okay, could have used some more dressing. The menu said it was served with honey vinegarette but I could only find a few drops of it. I ate the beets and the goat cheese though, and took a bite of the charred avocado. My husband had the sweet potato soup and he also stated it needed more flavors. He loved the bread! For my entrée, I ordered the Chilean seabass. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I wasn't all that impressed with the smashed potatoes but the fish was excellent. My husband had the curry with salmon. He liked his meal better than the starter as well. We ordered another drink but skipped dessert. I do want to try this place out during breakfast time and see about their coffee.

Cute little corner Cafe in Downtown Clayton. You have to park on the street (if you're lucky) or park in a nearby garage. Its a small café and space is very limited. I came in a Saturday with a friend and reservations were made. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was quick with taking drink orders. I think the servers all share tables because 3 of them came to wait and take care of us, which was great. All three were amazing! Food came out pretty quick and it was really good. My eggs weren't cooked over medium as requested but more over hard. Not a big deal. The sourdough was good but I wish they toasted it a bit longer. The potatoes were cut in large chunks and were really good. The jam spread taste nice as well. My brut champagne with the frozen orange juice cubes was a delight. The ambiance is nice but it is very loud. It's hard to hear anything. If you are hard of hearing, this place may not be ideal for your party. That have a limited seating time as well. My guest and I didn't realize we were sitting for an hour and a half but the hostess sure wanted us that they have a 90 minute seating time. Prior to this, my friend did ask the server if we were holding up a reservation and the server insisted that we were not. Not a big deal but now we know. Overall, the experience was ok. I would possibly return next year to sit outside and try a few cocktails and other food items. I'm just not in a rush to do so.

Clayton was busy, so street parking was hard to find. Once seated, we were greeted with friendly service and were brought water. I ordered a ginger beer with cranberry juice added to it for a refreshing mocktail. We ordered the Squeaky Cheese to start, the golden-brown cheese curds were gooey and had the perfect crunch. They were served with marinara and a serrano dill aioli. The aioli had just the right amount of spice, complementing the dill flavor. The marinara was saucy and also good. I ordered the Bacon Jam Burger with fries. The burger was juicy, sweet, and had a nice crunch. The bacon jam was subtle, but it enhanced the overall flavor. My only complaint was that the bottom bun came out a bit soggy causing the burger to lose structure as I ate it. The fries were thin and crunchy! Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

There were a few open tables, but we were asked to wait by the door while they "got situated." Meanwhile, a walk-in who arrived after us was seated at a table we had been waiting for. When we were finally seated, we were placed in direct sun. I asked if we could move to a shaded table in the corner and was told it was only for parties of three. After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.

We awkwardly gathered our belongings without protest and were rushed outside unassisted, with the other patrons staring at us. As we exited, we heard the server reappear and graciously apologize to the waiting party, offering them champagne. The table outside was set when we arrived but then actively cleared by the busser after we sat down. No one came back to check in. We felt unwelcome and quickly left. It was unnecessarily uncomfortable and put a damper on what was supposed to be a celebratory meal. This was a service failure. I understand the need to turn tables over quickly, but we should have been given at least 5 minutes notice, especially when the kitchen is running behind. Alternatively, the drinks could have been taken off the bill and we could have left outright. Even help moving or any involvement from our server or the manager would have been appreciated, but they were not present. Having had many great experiences at Vicia, I expected more from the take root hospitality group. We'll give Vicia another chance, but I'll be cautious about trying one of their sister restaurants again With the impending closure, this one may have already given up.

I enjoyed a glass of their current "by the glass" Chardonnay, and my boyfriend got a Yeungling (poured table-side). I got my scallops, as planned, which certainly did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly, fresh and delicious. The wilted romaine seemed odd at first but totally rounded out the potato mash at the base, with the absolute flavor-bomb of the shiitakes. Highly recommend this dish any day! My boyfriend opted for the NY Strip; we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we'd ever had; seasoned perfectly and cooked masterfully. There was a slight mishap whereby a food runner gave him a tasting portion of the strip (likely meant for another table); we first didn't realize and were very disappointed with the size. However, without a word from us, the chef came out and personally explained, apologized, and corrected--I didn't snap a photo of the full portion when it came out, but it was perfect and much more what we expected. That brings me to the service, which was spectacular. Several staff members gave us a personal touch and they all seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The space is beautiful and intimate. It was moderately busy and still quiet. The atmosphere feels upscale, but not pretentious or unapproachable. This place was on my radar for a long time, and I sure wish I'd gone long ago. If you're thinking about it, just go!! I can't wait to come back and try the chefs tasting menu--thank you for a wonderful dinner!
