So I just left comb today forever after being a customer for years. I tell the counter girl I'll be right back to get a coffee and feed the meter. Upon my return the wind is blowing hard when I open the door so I had to push it to close. As I am doing this the OWNER yells close the f$&@ing door. Mind you this is a full room and I believe one kid around 10 years old. I snap around and realize he's not talking to me but one of his employees about the back door. To top it off I see someone being sat in the chair as I walk in. The girl who I told I would be right back says we didn't know if you're coming back you're next. No thank you I just waited an hour for that spot and I will not support this business if that's how the owner speaks in front of his patrons to his employees. Good barbers, good atmosphere, good magazines...too expensive for a haircut that lasts 15min. When it was $25 I was fine but now it's $30 plus a $5 tip, my wife gets cheaper haircuts. I'm out. read more

This place is horrible. I got a hair cut and have been growing my hair for 8 months. What happened, I had to get it cut off because the girl that cut me did a horrible job. I tried different ways to style it but the way she cut it was retarded. Don't believe the comments that other people stated this place is only for rich men (white collar) who don't know nothing about haircuts and who overpay for these crappy haircuts. Beware 25 dollars for a regular cut and 7 dollars if they touch your facial. Its beyond overpriced and ridiculous for a crappy haircut. read more

For years I have been going from one place to another or having a friend cut my hair at my house because I have never been able to find a place where I felt comfortable or enjoyed getting a haircut. Finally I have found the perfect barber shop, Comb. The atmosphere is exactly what I've been looking for. Vito and his staff are very talented and friendly, the shop itself has a really cool style and great music, and wait times aren't bad at all, even if they were I wouldn't mind sitting there. I've gone to Anthony a number of times now and he always does an amazing job, he is very professional and makes the whole experience relaxing with great conversation and a great attitude. Vito cut my hair and I was very pleased. He gave me one of the best cuts I've gotten in a long time. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in a clean, classic look at a reasonable price. My one piece of advice would be to allow plenty of time if you don't have an appointment. The wait time can be up to an hour if you're a walk-in. read more

Love coming here- I drive around 30-40 minutes bc there are no similar barbershops in Union county- there's a decent one in Scotch Plains and in Maplewood, but not a true mens tonsorial type of place. My particular favorite asks a lot of questions, looks at my hair and honestly lets me know what is and is not possible (meaning will look like the picture I show) and gives a good opinion prior to getting started. This is comforting. End results are always what we discuss and decide on- haircut looks great! A fifth star would be warranted if I could make a reservation, but only bc I live further away. Ok, so I had this reoccurring problem with barbers. I would come in, hope that they would give me the cut I want, be disappointed, and decide yet again that I'll try another place. After getting yet another disappointing cut, I decided to look around on Yelp for another barber. After seeing their great reviews, I decided to try out Comb. I have to say, I have never been more pleased with a cut. Daniele cut my hair. She understood what I was asking for and gave me an awesome cut. Brought my 4 year old in there on an afternoon around 2pm. There was not one customer in there. The girl took us immediately and I spent some time explaining that my son has not had the best expierience with haircuts, he never liked them but was much better now and not scared I was expressing what i'd like to see in his haircut and was feeling out her opinions and expertise. All of a sudden the owner comes over, says "can i be of some assistance please because this process is taking a bit too long". I was speechless. Are you kidding me D bag? There was not ONE person waiting. Never felt so unwelcome in a place, even the cashier girl needed to at least seem like she wanted to be there and crack a smile. I never write reviews but this place needs a major attitude adjustment. Perhaps they don't really want children there, perhaps thats why their price list on the wall had the childrens rate clearly edited to match a man's cut so maybe they're hoping to weed people out. Well, it ended up being a nice cut but I would NEVER return. They were not friendly or welcoming what so ever and there is no way i need to pay $25 for a 4 year old's haircut. I'm sorry I didn't mention something when the owner was completely rude saying I was taking too long chatting about what i wanted for my son. I brought my son to this barber shop for his first hair cut. They gave him a nice certificate and I brought him back from time to time.... until the owner --Vito -- was so incredibly rude to my son (age 4 1/2) on our last visit that it was simply inexcusable and frankly made me wonder how this guy ever could stay in business. In summary - we waited over an hour for a very mediocre over priced hair cut. My my son was very grumpy and not equipped to wait that long, laid down on the window bench. Vito insisted he sit up and continuously berated my young son. I was quite shocked by his insensitivity to both me as a struggling mother, and especially my son. Since I invested such a long time in waiting to get his hair cut, my son's father came in to rescue me and sit through the haircut with my son. Sadly, this business owner needs not only better hair cutting skills, but better manners. He takes rude to a whole new level. Not child friendly. AT ALL.
