I hate to say it, but this was one of the worst dining-out experiences we've had in Martinsville. The first drink we ordered, a drink 'special', was made totally differently from what the menu listed. She asked if we wanted it remade; it took well over 20 minutes before she told us she didn't have the ingredients. I said just give us a basic whisky and sprite, and it was wrong too. Totally clueless. I'd recommend ordering a beer. Our tenderloin sandwich was surprisingly good. We asked for the toppings to be put on the side, but no, they put everything on it. The basic seasoned fries are definitely out of a bag and greasy. The entire time we sat there waiting, eating, and watching the confused staff, I saw at least 5 meals go back to the kitchen as incorrect. I don't see how anyone would give this 5 stars. I asked my wife if this was an episode of Bar Rescue. This place needs it, or doors will be closed soon. read more

This place was unbelievable. If I could leave negative stars, I would. The service was nonexistent. Entering as a party of 4, on a Monday night, we were told to seat ourselves. There was very limited table space due to the majority of the tables being covered with trash and leftovers. Our waitress stopped at our table once, took nearly 10 minutes to get our drinks (3 waters and a Sprite), finally collected our order and never came back. After 35 minutes, my grandpa left our table and sought out the waitress. He asked for an update on our food, and the waitress was rude and dismissive, telling him "the food is ready." My grandpa responded "ok, if it isn't at our table soon, we will have to leave." Another 5 minutes goes by with no waitress or food in sight. We politely gathered our things, left cash for the Sprite, and exited the building. Mind you, my grandparents are in their 80s. We weren't exactly speed racing to our car. It took a few. After fully buckling in to the car, the waitress busted out of the restaurant, with her phone in hand, screaming "YOUR FOOD IS ON THE TABLE!!!???? That wasn't even a long wait!?" She proceeded to bombard us, taking pictures of our license plate and threatening to call the police. We told her "please do." She responded with "I'm telling AMBER." Anyway, unless you want cold food, zero refills, and endless time to twiddle your thumbs, I wouldn't suggest this restaurant. read more

They upcharge $3.75 per side if you want to exchange your fries for a regular side like coleslaw, cottage cheese, broccoli etc even though they're the same price on the menu so expect to pay more if you want anything other than fries with your meal. I could understand if it was a specialty side, but I have never been up charged for a regular side from anywhere else before. read more

The only reason there are two stars is that the staff was super nice. I ordered a patty melt that the special menu said it was 11.99. It had thousand island dressing on it, not a fan of 1000 island dressing on a patty melt so I asked for it on the side. They presented a bacon cheeseburger with 1000 island on the side I returned it. They sent me a patty melt with the dressing on it. The server apologized and asked if that was ok, no not really but she was sweet so I didn't return it for the 3rd time. It was not good. I didn't eat it. I am a returner take it off my bill kind of girl but she was so nice I decided to just pay for it. The bill came and it was wrong. They charged me full price for the sale burger, then changed it to $13 for it when it was 11.99 then charged me $1 for "extra" 1000 island dressing. What a mess! They claimed there was a note that said they had to change prices because of food cost increases and I totally get that but I hate when restaurants want to throw out a paper instead of changing the menu prices in real time. We look at menus not notes. Change the menu first before the computer!!! Finally the bar manager just took it off completely and yes they were sweet but it wasn't a good experience. And it seems the cook can't read tickets well. read more

Nightmare. Been here a few times and each time it's been bleh but I went back again for a birthday. Table of 6 (probably 20 other customers in there). Staff could not remember anything. Had to request a drink 2 seperate times, my side was wrong and she never brought back the right one, and even the tenderloin is somehow less than stellar. This was our first time in the Main St., Grill in Martinsville. It was very cute place with red brick and tables. Nothing too fancy but very cozy. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was very helpful. My wife and I split the hot tenderloin. It was a breaded tenderloin with jalapeños and melted sharp cheddar cheese. It was delicious. Our other friends had the ribeye steak sandwich that was good too, but I think the best was the fish. It was their Friday night special and that was delicious. I would highly recommend this place for a casual evening if you want good conversation, friendly staffing in a cozy little atmosphere. read more

I've tried it twice since it reopened. It used to be a more upscale restaurant named 21North. They closed up and it reopened recently under new management as a more pub style restaurant. They have a really decent selection of menu items from pizza to burgers to steaks, with other sandwiches as well. The food is good but not great. They are still struggling to work out the kinks though. The biggest hurdle they have is the staff. Long waits with a staff that underperforms will really hurt a new business trying to get a solid foothold on a share of the local market. Last night was a second try. Grease was either old or not up to temp. Everything tasted like old grease. Fish, fries, tenderloin,; it wasn't good. But I'm still hopeful for them! My met my brother there, they said it was their third try and they have had similar experiences each time. We will wait a while before returning. read more

We visited the Main Street Grill in Martinsville, IN, earlier this week. I ordered a half Chef Salad. When I told the waitress that I didn't want the onion on the salad, she asked if the chicken was okay. I told her I wanted everything on the salad except for the onions. The salad came out in a very large bowl. Unfortunately, it was mostly toppings and hardly any lettuce. The lettuce that was in it was wet. it wasn't wet to the point of having water in the bottom of the bowl but wet enough that it had that transparent look. The ham and turkey was lunch meat and it had been cut into strips approx. 1/2" wide by 6"-8" long. Since they don't provide you with a knife, I had to ask for one in order to cut up the meat to eat it. I ate a few bites, but I couldn't eat much for all the toppings. When we got our bill, they had charged us $2 more than the menu price, making the salad $10.99 for a half. They also charged us $3.99 for the chicken and an additional $1.50+ for the egg. Although I wasn't extremely happy about paying for the chicken, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe I misunderstood the waitress. I know for a fact that I was never told what the chicken would cost. With the additional charges, it made my half salad $16.50. I talked with the waitress and the bartender and they took off $2 for the difference in price for the salad. I never asked them to take off the chicken, because again I thought there was a chance that it was my misunderstanding. I asked them to take the egg off, since the menu clearly stated that the Chef Salad came with egg on it. What upset me the most, was the fact that when I explained I was okay with the chicken, that the bartender wanted to argue with me that the price of the chicken was listed under the Chef Salad. I told her it was listed above under another salad, but that it was not listed under the Chef Salad. They refused to take the egg off the ticket. They said they couldn't do it without permission from the owner. It's funny how they could add the egg, but they couldn't remove the egg. I was told that I would have to pay what the ticket showed and that the owner to call to discuss the egg being taken off. The bartender was beyond rude. As you can probably guess, the owner never called me. All would have been fine, if they would have just taken the egg off the ticket, a whole $1.50+, but they refused. You don't charge an additional fee for something that the menu item clearly stated that it came with. read more
