    Hole still then, but charged for repair

    Have you ever just felt like a business no longer deserves to operate and is betraying the community? If yes, then let me tell you about "Comet Cleaners" located at 11807 Westheimer Rd #500, Houston, TX 77077 in the Westchase District. I will also tell you about the extremely rude employee who can't be left out of the story. On Tuesday. November 28th, 2023 at about 5:45 PM my roommate and I stopped to simply pick up our cleaning and alterations. The week prior we took two pairs of dress pants and a shirt for cleaning and three pairs of shorts to be repaired. Two pairs of the shorts needed a button replaced, while the other pair needed a hole patched. We made sure that the clerk understood the shorts did not need to pressed or cleaned. We were quoted $27.00 total for all items at that time. When we arrived to pick up the items we were told the total was $52.98. WOW what a shock. When I questioned the charge and asked for an itemized receipt this is where the employee gained a high speed and rude attitude. He said "the itemized receipt was stapled to the bag and if I wanted it, then I could get out and get it." It was not until I took a firm stand, that he produced a copy. To my surprise we were charged three times for dry cleaning of the shorts, which we thought the clerk understood we did not want. When I tried to explain this he said "there was nothing he could do and that we might have told he employee the wrong thing." He also said "there might have been a language barrier." The employees that accepted the items appeared to speak perfect English. When asked about a way to contact the Comet Corporate Office, he said "we have no corporate office, we are franchises." Now correct me if I am wrong, but if a company has franchises, they have corporate oversight of some kind, correct? Someone has to issue, control, maintain, and oversee the franchise rights. I then asked about a manager and again was greeted with severe attitude. He said "Jose was the general manager." I was told he could only be sent a message and would look into the matter when he got around to it." I told the employee that I would handle the issue at which point, he said "okay you are done and can leave now!" Now this story takes another twist and turn. When we arrived home last night, we felt like it was a good idea to look over the items we picked up. The items that were dry cleaned, appeared clean, but the press job was not more than mediocre. Now for the two pairs of shorts that were supposed to have buttons replaced, only one pair had a button and as for the pair that needed the hole fixed, the hole was not fixed. Come Wednesday and I have tried numerous times to reach a corporate representative with no luck. I have called multiple numbers and they either go to a voicemail box that is full or they are a non-working number. Before I lost all hope I called the store back and guess who answered the phone? Yes the same rude employee. When I asked to speak to Jose the alleged manager his response was "oh you must be that customer who gave me attitude last night!" I again asked to speak to Jose or a manager and he told me he was the manager and Jose was the owner and out of the country. I confronted his lie about being the manager of to which he had no response. I said "if you are the manager than you can refund the difference including the services not rendered." He said "he could not do that and I then asked you are a manager correct? He response was "I did not say that." He offered a $5.00 discount on the next visit. I declined and hung up the phone. At this time I am turning this over to my bank as fraud based on services not rendered. To answer the question I started with Yes I do.

    I am incredibly disappointed in my experience with Comet Cleaners. I took three drapes to them for cleaning. When I got them home and hung them, I was shocked to see that they had shrunk by 6 inches. I brought them back and asked what they could do to rectify the situation, because the manager assured me that it shouldn't have happened. The owner only agreed to refund my $81 payment and sent me $19 extra, which doesn't even BEGIN to cover the cost of replacing the drapes. Do yourself a favor and find another dry cleaner who will own up to their mistakes and compensate customers accordingly.

    This guy knows exactly how I want my clothes done. . It's nice to be remembered. He is very efficient!
