The front desk check inn Employee was rude and did not know how to honor my Choice Hotel reservation quote. Not only did he not honor my rate and refused to contact his manager when I requested, without notification or permission he changed my 2 night reservation to one night, forcing me to check in twice and they did not honor my Choice Rewards account It was an upsetting and horrible experience and started off my family wedding event in a very negative manner. I wrote a letter to the manager, but he has not responded as of yet. I also contacted Choice Hotels customer service, but said all they could do was to open a case on the issue. No resolution was attempted or made I have to say, I have never experienced incompetence and rudeness at this level at any hotel! read more

The front desk is not staffed, the eating area and lobby is filled with folks that are not paying guests and are unfortunately not in "normal mind". Breakfast area is a mess, non stocked. Manager was not present to speak about checking out early or my complaints concerning deranged person in next room smoking and slamming door every 10 minutes from 7PM to 1AM each night. I was told that my 3 night stay charged at check in would not be refunded if I left after first night. I put in an official complaint with Choice Hotels, the manager Danny Patel stopped the ability for me to put in a review that the public could see. Lights did not all work, my room was flooded with smoke from next door. Front Desk clerk mentioned that the "homeless" folks dismantled the smoke detectors and that nothing could be done. Did not feel safe in this place, did not get any sleep, did not use their breakfast area due to the food mess and not stocked. Booked through Choice Hotels...they did not do anything, gave me some extra points of which I do not need. read more

Came here only because of the pet friendly policy. Checking in they hd the 3 rooms we requested all on the same floor. 2 of the 3 rooms were inspected, one of the rooms had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, had to go downstairs to speak to front desk agent. The front desk agent was very nice and polite he immediately helped us out to get find another non smoking room on the same floor. When we settled in we came to find out there is no ice machine or vending machines on 2nd floor??? Weird because I had to make a trip to the 1st floor to the vending area to get ice from my room in 225 on 2nd floor??? The kids did enjoy the pool even though it was a small pool but good enough just for splash. I have to be honest, my choice would have not been this comfort inn but our friends have a small dog they travel with, so this is why we stayed here for 1 night only. The bed in our room was a king, large bed but not very comfortable, highway noise is pretty loud even when our room was facing the side parking lot which seemed empty but we could hear all the noise from the trucks all night long. Pillows were very flat and offered no support. While the room was very clean and priced at $95. I dont think i would stay here again. I normally stay at a Marriott courtyard as they are my choice for overnight stays. For families you also get a free breakfast which opens 630am to 930am. You can get waffles, bagels and individually packaged pastries. This is good for the kiddies. Although the room is small it can get packed real quick. We had to ask for coffee to be made at the front desk, since the person at the front desk oversees the breakfast area clean up and maintenance. read more

Should be zero. The first thing we noticed when we walked into the lobby was the soles of our shoes stuck to the floor. When we approached the desk someone was sitting behind it but did not acknowledge us. We informed this person we were here to check in. He was not welcoming and seemed bothered by our presence. He checked us in. We arrived a little early but asked if we could check in. Since the parking lot was empty we assumed a room would be available. He mumbled something about checking with housekeeping but didn't he was going to do so. Based on the check in experience and sticky floors we did not stay. Booked a weekend in the Hudson Valley for our anniversary. We kind of waited until the last minute to book and everything in the area was very expensive. I can't remember our exact rate, but it seemed decent compared to other options in the area, but a lot more than we would have expected. Was glad they had an indoor pool, but it was pretty cold. Free breakfast is always a nice perk. The common areas seemed a bit dated but our room was more updated and was oddly large with a whole sitting area with couch and coffee table in addition to the sleeping area. read more

DONT STAY HERE. This place is a garbage dump. Our room smelled like vomit, covered up with fabuloso. And when the fabuloso wore off, it was unbearable. Sticky floors, dirty/moldy shower and stained furniture. When we asked to switch rooms or get money off, the owner accused ME of throwing up in the room and told me I could leave. Clean hotel, easy check in, the free breakfast is not what it used to be because of covid. Pretty expensive at $160/night. Tax and covid fees. Air conditioner and refrigerator are noisy and prevents you from sleeping unless you just skiied 8 hours which is why we stayed there. Remote control difficult to surf channels. Doors slamming very vigorously because of its weight and lack of hydraulic absorbing mechanism. Out of 8 Parking spots right in front, 2 are handicapped and 2 are for club members, so 4 spots for 90% of its customers! Our room was 218 and was actually pretty large with 2 queens and a pull out sofa and coffee table. It had a noisy refrigerator and microwave which is cool and the only reason it got a 3 star instead of 2. I'd stay here again if the holiday inn express wasn't much more. read more

I booked a wedding block here. I reserved my own room and told them that we were the couple getting married. They said no problem. When I arrived, the hotel was under construction. That happens, but it would've been good to know before telling my entire family to stay here. As a result of the construction, you can't enter through the front of the building, so everyone tried to park in back. This was problematic because many spaces were taken up by piles of construction materials. It was all very irritating. When I got in, my room wasn't ready. I was trying to check in 90 minutes after the official check-in time. It was pretty disappointing, because while this may sound pretty snotty, of all the rooms in the block, which one do you think might need some time considerations? Other guests in my block were able to check in hours early, but they decided to save the B&G room for dead last. Once we were settled in, we found fruit flies in the room. Turning on the HVAC unit caused broken leaves to be scattered all over the carpet and bed. The manager was totally useless, offering nothing beyond half-hearted apologies. The staff was reasonable and the breakfast was pretty solid as such things go but the hotel as a whole is just not something I can recommend. read more

After my atypical poor review of the last Comfort Inn, I am pleased to have my confidence in reliable lodging restored. I can close my eyes and can be in 95% of the Comfort Inns I have ever stayed at here at this one That I have come to trust-Clean. Standard, good wifi, good tv, clean bathroom, clean room, signature comfy bed. This Comfort Inn is the consistent product you will see across the country.The location is convenient to the Hunter Mountain Ski area and the small town of Saugerites, NY. Not going to lie, wasn't sure what to expect when I booked a one night stay here after reading the reviews. Visited the Catskills so this place was ideal since it was near the highway and the mountains. This place must have been recently renovated because everything looked new and bright including the pool. Room and bathroom were clean and pool had ample towels. Breakfast was as you would expect with any continental breakfast, no complaints there, I enjoyed my meal. Didn't have a problem with customer service, check in was quick. My only complaint was the wifi, it was spotty and slow but we ended up using the computer in the lobby. Would stay here again if I do another overnight trip to the Catskills. read more

Here is the low down. Rates are decent, as the rundown HoJo is cheaper, and the new Holiday Inn is more. However do not plan on the extras. Pool in the morning is so full of chemicals the room is like entering a bleach filled sauna, i wouldn't dare even give it a try later in the day because once the chlorine dissipates I would doubt anyone keeps up with it during the day. Housekeeping is fair, they make the bed replace towels, but do not do much more, sink was dirty when I arrived and in need of soap (which was not refilled the next day. Breakfast was a JOKE! Out of almost everything. All the tables were in need of being wiped. What they did have was very scarce, just 3 packs of oatmeal! When I asked for peanut butter they said "sorry we do not have any, so we doubled up on the jelly." When I walked past the front desk I said that the breakfast was pathetic, to which the desk clerk said "I know". Also forgot to add that the internet is iffy. I selected this hotel based on reviews of other nearby hotels and was pleased with my choice. First, I only needed something that would accommodate me for a single overnight as I was taking a quick weekend trip to visit the nearby farm sanctuaries. When I made my online reservation, directly through the website, I had requested a room away from the elevator and on tan upper floor. Both requests were accommodated. My room was clean and had a king size bed, coffee maker, fridge and microwave! The bathroom was spacious with plenty of counter space - which was a delight. There was also a desk/chair and an arm chair and ottoman, which I've always enjoyed in a room so you don't have to sit on the bed to read and relax. The king size bed was super comfortable and there was a multiple of pillows to select from and a pillow "menu" on the bed to describe various densities. The front desk agent was efficient , but not what I would call anticipating guests needs and that's fine. Just laid back. I experienced the same thing upon checking out the next morning. They were just very laid back. I looked in and both the pool area and gym were clean and I wished I had thought to bring my swimming suit. The gym equipment looked to be in good condition as well. When I came back after dinner, New World Home Cooking review done soon, folks were using the gym - a good sign. The only two dings I could find for my room would be the tile grout could be redone, but it appears a remodel was in the works as everything appeared to be fairly new. Also the coverlet on the bed needed to be washed. Otherwise, it was in good shape. Without a doubt, I will be back in this area again this summer season and plan to make my reservation at the hotel again. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Good value for the money! Keep in mind it's a Comfort Inn, not the Ritz and it's a solid choice for the money. It's well located right off the highway. There's a McDonalds, grocery store/pharmacy nearby and Saugerties has some interesting restaurants that we've taken out from. We get a refrigerator in the room without having to make a special request but microwave is in main kitchen but available for use. Rooms are standardized and beds are comfortable. We didn't use the pool this time but it's usually quite nice although the "hot tub" is connected to the heated pool so it's not as warm was my kids are used to. Everything is clean. Breakfast is free (hot scrambled egg patties and sausage patties, 3 different kinds of cereal, hard boiled eggs, make your waffles, pastries/bread, yogurt, fresh fruit and coffee) - personally, i'd rather go to McDonald's and grab an egg McMuffin. Check in was easy and it's a solid place to stay on your way to Hunter Mtn. read more

I experienced several frustrations while checking in. I booked a room over the phone for our friend's wedding at Oz Farm. We were there two hours before the wedding to check in assuming the room will be ready. Upon arrival, there were a number of people in the entry way and things did not look promising. So at the front desk for check in, the receptionists initially told me my room appears to be canceled and I was confused? I booked it over the phone. Then began the ordeal, one of the front desk personnel helping me out was so confused, could be better at troubleshooting and dealing with the problems he was encountering. His other colleague however was beyond nice and assured me things would be ok and I'd get a room while they saw our apprehension as time got closer to the wedding. However, they could not move forward with a new room/ reservation because of their system access/ limitation. There were things wrong on multiple fronts so they called their manager who works from home on weekends apparently. They assured me he could book a room for me over the phone from his account. I was shocked there was no one higher in charge at the hotel to oversee things when there were back-to-back weddings. Finally a room was booked for me. I was relieved to get the situation sorted out. They later investigated and told me they gave someone "my room" to a person with my "same name". All super confusing and questionable. This has been the most bizarre hotel experience I've had. Strange things happen I'm sure, but as a hotel it all comes down to how you handle it. Definitely could make some improvements seeing numerous people had issues checking in. Mine being the weirdest, but the a few rooms were not ready and many of us had to rush to the wedding. They tried their best to work with the situation but honestly it was quite stressful as a guest! This is a basic two-star motel off the NY State Throughway. I stayed here on a snowy night while passing through the area. I chose it because it was close to where I needed to be the next morning. The room was clean but the furnishings were dated. The extra large king room had a nice new TV with good reception (with no PBS station) and a sofa which was great. However, it was on the Thruway side of the hotel which meant that it was super noisy. I wound up changing to a double on the other side of the building which was quieter but smaller with an older TV and a noisy heating unit (less annoying than the Thruway). Wifi is available throughout (even if the instruction card in the room isn't relevant). Breakfast is fine for this type of motel. It had a hot waffle set up which was OK. The older man working at the desk was super slow but meant well and took care of my needs. This place is nicer than the typical Super 8 motel. My only complaint is that the common areas of the building and the hallways smell of cigarette smoke. While my non-smoking room was clean and smoke-free, the rest of the place reeks and that is why it gets 2 stars. read more

Typical lower end motel chain. Stayed here 2 consecutive nights. Shower on 1st night was cold/ Luke warm at best. 2nd night shower was boiling at first, then cold, then instantly back to nuclear hot. Pretty noisy on freeway side. Internet was good as long as there weren't many guests on it. Major slow down as guests rolled in and logged on. No HD TV. Decent breakfast and friendly staff. We stayed a night here on our way back from a brutal winter hike in the Catskills. The hotel is in a nice spot, located en route to NYC. Nice waarm pool to kick back in, comfortable room, wifi that connects easily (and without a PW!). Breakfast service/quality was substandard compared to other Comfort Inns I've stayed at in the northeast (cold eggs) but hey, we weren't there for the breakfast. Basically a good place to stop for a night/ couple of nights while you are in transit for work or recreation. The hotel is quiet, new, and very well maintained. The only reason I dropped a star on my review was because this really bothered us in the morning: we had an east facing room and there were no BLINDS!! Not sure if this is the case with the west facing rooms too, but I am sure they don't get the morning sun streaming in the way we did, so it's less of an issue. We were planning to sleep in on since we were here on a Sunday, but that literally went out the window! read more

I did not get to stay at this hotel as adverse weather delayed my travel. When I spoke to the hotel they informed me that they have a 24 hour cancelation policy.I had booked the room that morning. Manager informed me the hotel does not handle the refunds and that's the policy.The weather in Saugerties was as just bad where I was on 5/15/18. Orbitz was given the same response by the hotel. I stayed here with my mother and daughter over the New Years holiday . The hotel was extremely clean . The pool was kept immaculate . The bathrooms too. The breakfasts were very nice . I normally stay in higher star hotels but we booked late and we were skiing at hunter and this place was surprisingly and incredibly well organized with a very helpful and friendly staff . ZERO STARS! Our groups reservation is for 1/24/20 and we wanted to change it to 1/25/20. Correct this and you could easily obtain 5 stars. Call 646-338-9670. Horrible customer service. Our friend booked two of their king sized suites on the wrong night on her cell phone. Called within minutes of making the reservation to ask if they could change it for the following day per the error. The manager Larry was extremely rude and refused to make any concessions at all. He wanted us to pay double the value of the room to change the reservation. That's appalling customer service. They have no intent on having customers return for future business. They will never see a single dollar of our money again. They should be ashamed of themselves and hire a hospitable manager since if they hope to be successful in the hospitality industry! read more

With the long-established Howard Johnson Inn right next door for competition, I would have expected the customer service at the Comfort Inn to be better. Beware to travelers: even if severe weather with flight cancellations causes you to not arrive as planned, you credit card will be charged for one night full rate and Comfort Inn manager will not help you out at all. So you're punished by not only the unforeseen weather but also by the hotel and the hotel manager is completely uncaring. Given the possibility of being charged a full room rate for a room you cannot use due to unforeseen weather, I do not recommend making any reservation at this hotel. read more

My family and I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Saugerties for a night, 8/18/14. A clean room with 2 double queen size beds, wi-fi, flat screen tv, a mini refrigerator, and a hair dryer. The water pressure was fine. The hotel is still under construction/expansion. If you decide to stay here, I would recommend you to stay away from their right side of the hotel. The man at the front desk said they were expanding to have the fitness room and additional rooms. As for the buffet breakfast-it was ok. There were two waffle irons, cereal, oatmeal, boiled eggs, cups of yogurt, juice dispenser, microwaved eggs and sausages. If you have a choice, go elsewhere until their construction project is completed. read more

If you are in the market for Exit 20 accommodations (a summer cultural event in Saugerties, or, say, being in striking distance of Hunter and Windham) the Comfort Inn can work for you. It is right off the Throughway, has an inviting mini-lobby (albeit without coffee other than at breakfast), efficient check in, and comfortable (if not fancy) rooms. The maid could have been more aggressive in the bathroom, and there were some tears in the upholstery, but nothing major to complain about. The light breakfast in the lobby was okay -- decent coffee, bakery goods with a toaster, a waffle bar, but no hot food besides that (and no meat or cheese at all). Advertises free wi-fi but didn't sample it. As you can tell, the gist of this place is 2-star, and that would be the rating, but for an utterly critical feature for a Interstate-adjacent place: good soundproofing -- huzzah! read more

Warning: any customer servicing business that finds it necessary to steal from potential customers doesn't deserve to be in business. It is literally their POLICY to STEAL from customers. I checked in to you comfort inn location in Saugerties, NY location with my family on June 10th. We planned on checking out on the 12th. During our stay, we found two roaches in our room. Generally, I would have chosen a much cheaper hotel or hostel, but with my family in attendance, I choose a traditional hotel. The total cost of the hotel for two nights was 427.00. I reported my findings back to an older man at the desk and he told me that "sometimes other people bring them in or food brings them in". He did not offer to give us another room or a discount, he just replied with an attitude. We than continued to notice that the ice bucket was dirty and that the bathroom had not been cleaned. This place doesn't deserve any stars. Let me tell you know, that I will never invest my hard earned money in this filthy establishment. read more

You can hear the highway if your room is on that side of the building, and people smoke in the halls (so they don't get in trouble for smoking in the room?? - is this their college dorm?). The bathroom is tiny and the wallpaper is starting to peel back at the seams. Oh ya, and ask for a 1st floor room if you have a lot of luggage; I couldn't find an elevator. My family and I stayed here while skiing upstate and found this to be a good reasonably priced option for lodging. The location is the real selling point for this inn because it is literally right next to the NYS Thruway, but don't worry you don't hear the vehicles from your room. There is a nice gas station right across from it also which is helpful for fuel, beer and snacks. These little things are advantages for families and I look for them. From the inn driveway you can go left into Saugerties or right to the ski mountains. The inn itself is nice from the outside with plenty of parking and kept clean. The lobby is nice with some seating and tv and the front desk was helpful when we needed something, specifically the manager. The room was updated and modern with plenty of storage, and we were comfortable. No problems, very clean. The bathroom was nice with an extended vanity top over the toilet for all the family stuff and adjustable shower head. The stay was quiet and didn't have any issues with overcrowding or noise either. One of the best things about this place is that they offer a free continental breakfast in the morning which was very diverse. We love hotels that do this because not only does this save you some money, it saves you time. There is something for everyone and my kids loved making their own waffles. My only complaint would be that they could do a little more to restock items and clean the counters and garbages which were sometimes dirty and full. They also have free wifi, a small gym and a really nice pool area which your kids will enjoy so bring your bathing suits. Just to mention, I saw the other reviews also and I can say no one tried to steal from us. We had no issues. Overall I recommend this place for a budget friendly practical stay with some nice thrown in bonuses. read more

The general manager Peter LaScala was possibly the rudest man I have ever spoken to. My husband and I stayed at the comfort inn for a wedding. We had absolutely no hot water. The desk clerk said that there was another room next door with the same problem and there was no manager on the premises. There were no other rooms avail able, place was booked. Having no hot water in a hotel is like not having a bed. I've been in 3rd world countries with hot water. So I called mr LaScala the next day. He lied And said we were the only room that had this problem (insinuating we were lying) and to take it up with the credit card company and he would fight it. Calling corporate offices was no help either. My husband called mr LaScala and he told him he already spoke to a man even though I told him I was a woman. He preferred to call me Sir. There's a Howard Johnson down the road. I suggest you try it there. read more

I stayed there with my 2 kids for 2 days in late February 2019 and the pool was too cold to use for both days--which the manager said he couldn't help because it was on an automatic system. The breakfast was miserable with dry, rubbery lukewarm eggs that were obviously precooked mechanically. Both days the orange juice came out looking and tasting like watery apple juice, as they obviously did not refill the concentrate. The coffee ran out and was not refilled, so I had no coffee one morning. The wifi went off and on unpredictably. I stayed at the Comfort Inn this past weekend. Upon booking, I was not informed that any construction would be going on-instead, I was left to find out upon arrival. The whole parking lot was filled with trucks/construction debris. I walked through sheet-rock dust and concrete floors covered in glue to the front desk. Upon check-in, they attempted to put me on the 1st floor of the hotel where the majority of the construction was taking place. I kindly asked to be moved to the 2nd floor and after an attitude from the man at the front desk, he finally switched me. I lugged my suitcases up the flight of stairs and got settled in my room. After leaving and coming back that evening, I noticed that the side doors of the hotel were left wide open. The key card entry access was disabled, allowing anyone to enter the hotel. This left me feeling extremely uneasy about my personal safety. Overall - paying over $300 for a hotel stay that was unsafe and under construction is absolutely ridiculous! read more

Upon my inquiry, I was advised that I took a pillow with me. Why the hell would take a pillow and totally not touch anything else worth much more in the room.
