A bit outdated but the man that checked us in was very patient and kind. Nothing too over the top as far as enthusiasm for the area but, the place is good if you just need to rest your bones. Breakfast was tasty and I was about to still eat around 10am. Area was loud at night full of sirens. Windows and walls are VERY thin. We stayed in a two twin room. Blankets were thin but they did provide extra pillows. Heat and AC worked great! The rooms were ok as far as security. There was a decent gap in our door to the hallway. read more

I had to stay in town for several weeks because of a family member's illness in Sept (2025). The hotel met our needs just fine. It is clean. It feels safe. There's daily breakfast downstairs. The rates felt pretty darn good. And the staff was polite and helpful, especially the morning guy (I want to say his name is Adam or Arthur?). We stayed at the Comfort Inn for two nights in Watsonville and it left a lot to be desired. The price was fair as we only need to bed down mostly but the somehow they left the 'comfort' out in Comfort Inn. There was no one at the lobby during check-in and despite calling the two numbers no one showed up until a while later. The beds were made nicely made but it stopped there. We found the toilet seat up (usually it's down, no?), and broken, the shower caulking moldy, the refrigerator was plugged in but didn't work, no table, desk or chair to sit on, the beds were high so we had trouble tying our shoe laces, and the microwave was on the ground. The breakfast had a skimpy selection, and in the evening they used power (?) cords to tie together the front double door of the lobby to presumably keep the rift-raft out. We had to listen to next door guest's music mostly all night and even had a mystery teenager charging his phone on an outlet directly outside our room of all places in the long hallway Freaky!! Rename the hotel, 'The Shining', please. We've stayed at Comfort Inn numerous times. Will we stay again? Most likely yes. Would we stay in this one again? Definitely, no. read more

This hotel is horrible. First of all, the food was not replenished and when I asked the front desk to get someone to replenish it, she said they already did. But, when I went back to check, the food wasn't replenished?? I asked the front lady to replenish it again, and she gave me attitude. I couldn't even sleep. Honestly this hotel should be shut down. I was staying at this hotel for a couple of nights due to a family vacation, I lost the wifi password and the guy at the front desk acted really rude, I told him to write it down on a piece of paper and he told me to put it on your cell phone, refusing to write it down on paper. I complained about his attitude but he just continued being very rude, this is definitely something I wouldn't wish on anyone, for this reason, I DO NOT recommend this hotel. read more

The room smelled moldy. The continental breakfast started late AND was horrible (syrupie orange juice, coffee with chunks of grounds in it, etc). The lady working the front desk when we arrived was nice but the guy who took over for her was rude and would stare at me every time I walked past him - nice customer service dude! We stayed here this last weekend, just one night. It was awful, cannot recommend. 1. The front desk person took 15 minutes to wake up and come out to check us in, and then was very rude and grumpy. 2. Motel is dated, carpeting is worn and soiled. 3. TV Remote did not work, no batteries or even another remote available from front desk. 4. The light bulb above the vanity area was gone, none available. 5. Tub did not drain hardly at all. 6. Breakfast was from 7 to 9 am, eggs were gone by 8, no bowls or milk out for cereal, no butter for the bread, muffins or waffles. Orange juice dispenser only had water. There was yogurt, waffle batter, syrup, muffins, coffee and bread available. I put out butter, milk, bowls, and apples from a back room and cabinets. Frozen eggs and sausage was left open on counter in back room, and never refilled. 7. They charge your credit card at check in, and if you leave the key cards in the room and not the front desk, they charge you another nite?- wtf! 8. Another guest said they were told by same front desk person no rooms available previous nite, but availability was showing online, so they made a reservation BY PHONE, and were then able to check in by grumpy person. Motel was MAYBE 1/4 full. Only good thing was no bedbugs- so if you need an emergency crash pad it might work OK. And it does take pets. But not really cheap either. read more

This place sucks. It deserves a zero star. $150 a night. I checked into my room. The toilet was clogged. The AC didn't work. The internet didn't work. I told them that I needed a different room or a refund. They gave me a different room. The toilet worked, and so did the AC. One of the lights was broken and had mold on it. When I stayed here the hotel charged my card for $566 3 times in a row- the 2nd &3rd time the card declined. Then the next day the hotel charges me $189 by now they have drained my account $755. Then they ask me to call the bank, the guy and his wife are yelling at me. The authorization is pending and the guy tells him it will be approved. Now the man gets angry and tells me I have to leave the hotel with no money & no place to go and charges me another $95 for a total of $850 for the 1 night stay at a hotel which the mattress must be 10 years old or more and bounces so much you fall off- everything smells like urine and there are big carcasses on the wall from wherever they had bugs. The entire time I was threatened and felt unsafe. Stay clear!!!! read more

Received a phone call from the hotel at 8:48pm to ask me when we would be arriving. He then informed me that we had to arrive by 10:30 or we couldn't check in......WHAT? You can't check in to a hotel after 10:30. there wasn't anything in the reservation that said there was a check in cutoff time. He relented after I called back. Wound up in an ADA room. The drain didn't drain so feet felt slimy after the shower. The ADA toilet seat was help up by a bungie cord. The sink in the bathroom is not ADA compliant. If you want to go out after they leave for the evening you could use the extension cord by the door and wrap it around the door latch so that you could get back in. Nice security, not convenient if you forgot something in the car or wanted to grab a bite to eat. The only positive thing to say is that the bed was comfortable. This place does not deserve to be part of any chain. They suck. read more

Let me start off with the service. It was great, the staff was friendly and had some good suggestions for dinner when asked. The room was the typical revamp. You know, somewhat modern furniture. The obligatory one wall that's painted a different color. A small desk, fridge, tiny microwave, etc. I was treated to a full bathtub with shower curtain. The standard complementary soaps and hair care products with a dash of towels that felt like sandpaper. Okay so for the good: The room was clean, i didn't really go looking but visually there wasn't a reason to. Just about every light fixture has an outlet to plug in something. There is a small reading light by the bed which is a nice touch. The internet was password protected. It's just a minutes drive from a few food spots and other amenities. The bad: When taking a shower i couldn't get the water past warm and it struggled to maintain a constant temperature. The walls are PAPER thin, i was able to hear phone calls that were in the adjacent rooms like the people were sitting next to me. The road is incredibly busy durring the morning commute. So either wait an eternity for an opening or take the scenic route. In conclusion: is the hotel a destination spot or even a place to get away for a night, imo well no. But they do offer a warm bed in a clean room. So if your in watsonville is definently one of your choices. Giving it 3 * because it was neither great nor bad just rather meh. read more

Our room had bedbug stains all over the mattress. When asked in front of another guest I mentioned they had bedbugs in our room. They looked and denied it. All over the mattress and pictures to prove it. Lady became rude and claimed we won't get a refund. Our company will here of this and remove them. The room was decent. I didn't hear much noise and slept through the night easily. I was only here for one night and it suited me well. I feel if you are just driving through the city, this is a perfect place to rest your head. It was very affordable and hot chocolate in the lobby is amazing lol. The staff is nice and their continental breakfast was pretty good as well. You can make your own waffles which I thought was pretty cool for such a "budget" style inn. Friendly staff, dog friendly, and good breakfast. That about sums it up. The parking is a bit cramped, like there are just barely enough spaces for # of guests. Location is decent. Not too close to things so it's noisy. Not too far to drive for a good dinner. As a note, you will likely have to drive somewhere to eat. I don't remember anywhere within close walking distance for a good meal. Rooms are clean and fairly spacious. For the price, good amount of space. Mini fridge and microwave included. You can get the safe fee waived if you ask. Save $1.50! Yay! haha. Breakfast area is large, and there wasn't a soul in sight when I went down. Breakfast included eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, and the usual cold items like cereal and pastries. When it is early to bed and early to rise, the Comfort Inn is fine, I surmise. This is a review of the Comfort Inn and previously I reviewed the Holiday Inn Express that is about 15 miles to the south. Because of an insanely early start to the days, we opted to stay close by, rather than add an hour commute time. So lets see what the Comfort Inn has going for it. When checking in, I was greeted by the very friendly and personable manager, Anna. Although a mistake occurred with the reservation, Anna seemed genuinely concerned and worked to correct it. Her warm and friendly personality is a real plus to this motel and immediately made me feel at home; well as at home as one can feel in a Comfort Inn. We grabbed our bags and headed to our rooms. The motel is either new or recently refurbished. There is new carpeting and the rooms look updated and very clean. So far, so good. HOWEVER, upon entering the room, I am just about overcome by the smell of room freshener. The proper amount of scent- de- hotelle, is okay. The quantity used in this room possibly could be a formula for insect extermination. horribly intense. The IQ of the cleaning personnel just plummeted in my book. After the initial shock to my senses, I noticed that the room was very clean and nice. The beds are comfortable, there are plenty of soft towels and overall, it will make a nice place to relax and later crash from exhaustion. BUT, that room deodorizer scent is literally killing me. My sinuses start to swell, I start to cough, even after opening the windows, which thankfully open. We ask for another room, but the motel is booked. A Benedryl later and after leaving the door open for some cross ventilation, I realize that I can get through the night without an inhaler. We ask that housekeeping not clean the room for fear there will be more noxious fumes. The next morning we head down for breakfast before heading out. This breakfast buffet is definitely second to the Holiday Inn Express. Here, the scrambled eggs have a crumb-like over-cooked consistency and the offerings are on the sparse side. I grab some morsels, knowing that I will be hungry in a short time. Overall, The Comfort Inn has cozy rooms that are clean and comfortable. It seems newly renovated and the beds were comfortable. It was better than I expected and it could have been a pleasant experience except that being able to breathe trumps anything....always. I could not breathe and there were no rooms to move to. We did complain to the staff but I am not sure they understood how bad the air quality was. The breakfast was disappointing, and the bar was set low for that. I would like to give them 3 stars because it is a good value for the price. Were it not for the over the top antics of a person dressed in housekeeping garb, the stay would have been fine. Spraying what seemed like an entire can of deodorizer in a room is unhealthy. Which one would I choose again? Holiday Inn Express with the three bears selection of beds but better than expected breakfast buffet ? OR Comfort Inn, with a disappointing breakfast but better beds, towels and room? Seeing that breathing and eating are basic necessities,...Holiday Inn it is. read more

This place is clean however when I first came in the room it did smell as though someone had smoked in it before. Bath smelled of bleach and was very clean, I liked that. It could use a little maintenance touch up, but nothing too bad. All the employees here where very polite and friendly from Front Counter, House Keeping and the gal servicing the breakfast. Their continental breakfast was better than most I have had. This is not a fancy place but overall for the price it was a good deal. The location felt safe and had good stores and shops close by. While it's not on the freeway it was very easy to get to, only a couple minute drive. read more

Not the best experience I've had with hotels. Half of the hotel was under construction, but I appreciated that the person at the front desk made sure we were on the other side of the hotel so as not to hear any noise. Our hotel room seemed really run down & didn't seem that clean. Our towels were mismatched, which was just weird. And I noticed after our first night that I had gotten a few bug bites. The continental breakfast wasn't that great. The bananas were more green than yellow & my husband had a hard boiled egg which he threw out after one bite. I will definitely spend a little more next time for a nicer hotel. read more

We were in town for a Robotics competition and were so grateful for the clean, comfortable, and quite rooms. The free breakfast was yummy: eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, waffles, coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, toast.... The women at the front desk was one of the kindest people I have ever met! She went out of her way to make certain that our stay was a pleasant one. She even gave me a special piece of Godiva chocolate for Mother's Day and provided assistance in visiting Mt. Madonna. The Comfort Inn in Freedom is a good basic hotel for a quick evening stop. The front desk agent was welcoming at check in. The king room was as expected. We arrived to the complimentary breakfast at 9:15 (closed at 9:30) to find the eggs and sausage had run out. The attendant, Kashmira, offered to make us our very own eggs and sausage patties, which we graciously accepted. She cleaned up the area and checked in with us periodically to make sure we still had everything we needed. I really appreciate the hard work and extra effort she put into our breakfast. My husband and I were having some work done on our house, and chose the Comfort Inn, after doing our research of local motels on line. We could not have made a better choice! We are a couple, with two chihuahua/mix dogs. We had made reservations for a Saturday thru Saturday stay. Check in time was fine, no problems. In fact, I cannot think of any problems at all! Plenty of parking, the lobby had both cold water and a hot drink machine. They also provided a copy of the current local newspaper. We had reserved a suite, since we were going to be there for a while. Very spacious, windows providing lots of light, plus all the usual needs, fridge, microwave, hair dryer and iron/board. The bed was so comfortable, the pillows fluffy. The suite provided two t.v.'s, one in each room. I loved the fact that the water was really hot, as I love a hot shower! Breakfast was available, which included making your own mini waffles. Real butter. I had accidentally left my purse in the breakfast area, and hadn't needed it, so I didn't notice that it was missing for several hours. When I did remember, I called the front desk, and they had found it in the morning, and returned it, completely in tact, for which I thanked the Staff for, profusely! Everyone was kind and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this motel, and will definitely stay here again! read more

I agree with S P's review...the location isn't great--it's in a semi-industrial area and no restaurants or stores nearby. However...due to it's location it's definitely affordable! It's only about 20-30mins from Santa Cruz and conveniently accessible to the highway. As for the digs...this place is a low key hotel, with the bare essentials. However, it does offer free wi-fi, cable and continental breakfast! Oh yeah, and for a $15 fee it is also (small) dog friendly! :-) My boyfriend, myself and our 4-legged family member were up here for a weekend to check out the area (job prospects) and take a mini vacation. We stayed here two nights...it was a decent place to stay for a very reasonable price. Nothing fancy, keep in mind! read more

This hotel was not a very good one. The room was small and the bathroom even smaller. The tub didn't even have a stopper so you could take a bath. My wife noted the toilet seat was up so someone used it since it was cleaned. What it did have was plenty of mirrors , 4 of them, so you can see yourself from every angel when you get out of bed. The ice machine didn't work and the WiFi was very spotty. Even though I was on the 3rd floor the smell if the staffs dinner reached all the way up stairs. The neighborhood is very sketchy. read more

I experienced the same thing when I checked out. She refused to print me out a receipt because I used a third party service for my reservation. I agree with Brian M. I was very uneasy about them writing down my card number and the cvv. When I asked about it, they said that it was hotel policy. They want the info to charge your room if there are issues but my thought is that they already have your credit card on record so why make you vulnerable by putting your personal info on a sheet of paper. read more

I recently spent 2 nights there. Nice hotel for this area. Clean room, friendly staff, good value. It's also right across from a Safeway mall and a few other stores including a Starbucks. My only suggestion is to request a room not facing Airport Blvd as the windows are older and the road noise is an issue. Still..... would stay there again. read more

A choice Property...and this is not my choice now. This hotel does not honor Hotels.com despite having a confirmation number. I was stuck this weekend 09/02/2017 - the management does not care and left the desk clerk without able to do any " Overrides". I had a guaranteed Hotels.com but they did not give a f* about the Hotels.com number, they said - that's not our confirmation number. Their manager Mr Patel would not respond to their desk clerk. She tried to be accommodating ( Kristine) and said the last room was available and she would match the rate. NO - they don't allow her to override the system rate ( Terrible customer service). She tried calling the Mgr (5pm) and no response from her manager. I was there in the lobby for over an hour. The room would not be adjusted because she can't. They wanted to charge 200% more... (Last room - on a weekend ) ... Wow terrible - and doesn't care - really shameful. We even had a group, others who stayed - said they had ants in their rooms. Yes, I am very disappointed because I was there with the front desk - and they just don't care. We had a group . Hotels.com eventually found me a room (3 Customer Service Reps and another hour) I had to " Commute" on vacation over 75 miles with another car (there was two of us in separate vehicles) ...Terrible...and come back to the area to meet up with my group. read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago on a Saturday. Upon arrival, it looked like the there was no one at the front desk. Suddenly a young lady who was sitting on the couch with a few others, asked me if we were here to check in....I told her yes and she quickly got up off the couch and made her way back to the front desk. That was weird. She seemed friendly, courteous and directed us to our room. When I opened the door to the room, the window in the room was left wide open. That was also weird. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was somewhat comfy, but not the best. For one night I can deal with a standard bed. I had requested one king bed if available, but we got two queens which was fine. We had a room facing the street side which I thought would be a bit louder, but it wasn't as loud as I imagined. That was a plus. In a pinch, this hotel is okay to stay. Nothing fancy, free parking and close to everything. I left my personal pillow from home (grey with white polka dots) and called on Monday to see if it was turned in. Unfortunately, no one called me back even though they promised they would. It is true that if you turn to the right out of the hotel you find yourself in a warehouse/industrial type area near the airport that contains little else except the hospital. Turning *left* however would have brought him to quite a busy shopping district within an eighth of a mile, with a modern Safeway, a Chinese restaurant, and more laundromats, fast food and Mexican restaurants than you can shake a stick at ;) Just saying ;) read more

The Comfort Inn is just that , comfort inn a shell. I going to stay at all of these Inn's when we Travel. The room was clean and well maintained. George the host gave us a call with the concern of our credit card was declined. When I explain the fraud we had Comfort Inn and George was will to hold the room until we arrive with cash to pay for the room. Thank you for your understanding and concern for our misfortune. We just spent one night here. Location isn't great--it's in a semi-industrial area and no restaurants or stores nearby. Parking lot is behind the building and not visible from the street. There were several young adult guests and their friends who drank in the parking lot and partied all night, keeping us up late and waking us up until 5:30 a.m. We had booked five rooms--my room had absolutely no hot water, and we found out the next day that one of our rooms had the smoke detector torn out, and another room's phone didn't work at all. The front desk had a hard time checking us in and included an optional hotel safe charge without asking us. The checkout clerk (different guy the next day) was nice enough to remove the charge. That was the highlight of our stay here. I would stay away... read more
