I've stayed at this hotel several times throughout the year and I've always had a clean room comfortable bed hot breakfast and the staff has been wonderful . I was looking for a place to crash after 14 hours of driving. Comfort Suites near Rowlett came up on my search. There was ample, free parking as I pulled in with a Mexican restaurant just across the parking lot. I knew where dinner was going to be. One less question for the clerk plus I was starving. The night clerk was professional, polite and helpful. The amenities are the same as with all Comfort Suites with free wifi, free breakfast buffet, a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor pool. My room was a nice size with a king bed on the first floor. The room was a comfortable, cool temperature plus extremely clean. The room has a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, flat screen TV and USB ports plus extra pillows. I slept very well and there was very little hall noise for being on the first floor. I prefer the first floor so I can run down for coffee as soon as I wake up. The breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, fresh fruits, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal, cereal and make your own waffles. Juices, coffee and milk were also offered. I prefer to have breakfast before getting back on the road. It's less stressful not searching for a decent restaurant close by. I can choose when I prefer to eat between 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. and not have to leave the hotel. If I travel this way again, I'd have no problem staying here again. read more

This is the WORST Comfort suites I've ever seen. 1) driving in I saw paint tape hanging off back windows. 2) front sliding doors weren't working. (Probably because of half the buildings powder being out. Not blaming them for this. But it didn't help) 3) no one at front desk. Waited forever. Finally he came in. He was outside smoking or doing something. He saw me walk in and didn't even check if I needed help at the front desk. Oh and he was NOT dressed professionally at all. 4) first set of keys were the wrong room. 5) bathroom is bad repair. One light bulb out above sink. 6) big table in room bowing like it was about I collapse. 7) 2 SMALL pillows for each bed 8) NO BLOCKOUT CURTAINS. Only one SHEER CURTAIN ON A FIRST FLOOR ROOM. People would be able to look in at dark. Overall horrible experience. The guy I spoke with up front was very nice. Said the place was in bad disrepair due to not being ran right. We left. This place was horrible. The room had a constant moldy smell that my nose would not get used to even after I used a bottle of febreeze. The front desk attendant was extremely rude and would just sit in the back office and ignore people at the front counter and all of the calls coming in. I could tell she was ignoring everyone because I could see her in the reflection of the window. She was literally right around the corner and just ignoring all of the calls and all of the people standing at the front desk trying to get assistance. The first time I saw her answer a call was while I was in the middle of asking her to get me a different room because my toilet would not flush. It was not clogged. The flush just would not work. Charlie holt, the front desk attendant said I need to take the back off of the toilet and reattach the chain to the handle. I said yes I am aware of how to fix it but I'm in a hotel and shouldn't have to. Is it possible to change rooms and she finally answered the phone... completely ignored me... and then as I walked out of the front door she yelled I need to stop being so overly dramatic. I have never met a front desk attendant that was so rude. After accusing me of being overly dramatic for not fixing the toilet in my room, she then said oh well you are probably just drunk right now....I am honestly appalled at the way this woman was speaking to me and acting like I was the problem. This hotel was absolutely disgusting. When I got there I thought it was closed because looking in the windows, all of the curtains look like they have been set on fire. It turns out they are just crawling with mold. And the solution for my broken toilet from the front desk attendant when I refused to fix it myself was, "sir, do you want to check out?" I said I could just get a different room, but she decided to answer the phone for the first time since I arrived and I walked outside and said "ok cool " and she hung up the phone and started screaming after me saying, "excuse me? Stayed here in 2017 was coming thru the area again and figured we would try it again. Apparently new management, filthy, dirty, needs a remodel desperately. The woman Cheryl running the front was argumentative didn't understand that we reserved a room with 2 queen size beds. Tried to put us into a room with 1 king size, continued to argue with us at one point she even swore. Breakfast room floor had crumbs all over the floor and my shoes stuck to the floor. The couch in the room is so dirty and ripped on one side, I was afraid to even touch it. We almost left to look for another place to stay. I recommend not staying here it is very bad. read more

I was hesitant to stay here, but I sure am glad I did. Shawn at the front desk greeted me and I could tell she had a smile under her mask. She is very pleasant, informative and knows what customer service is. She is certainly an asset to this hotel! I was fortunate enough to need the room for one more night and she took care of everything. COVID has the breakfast area shut down but Shawn will fix you a healthy bag breakfast that does the trick. The night shift (after 11 pm) was very friendly too. She informed me there was hot chocolate available, which was nice. The hotel cleaning staff were very through and friendly as well. The room was uber clean, the sheets & towels were great, the AC worked well and the bed...wow...it was like sleeping on a cloud. I highly recommend staying here. Clean, quiet and affordable!!! Do NOT stay here. This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. The hotel is a dump! The service is horrible and they never clean your filthy and disgusting room. The staff does not know the area. Plus, they do not even replace the missing USA and Texas flags and the hotel flag is ripped and hanging on the pole. The parking lot never gets cleaned either. I reserved a two bed room and got a king size bed for three of us. They never bother moving us and told us that if we did not like it, they would just cancel our reservation. We checked in quickly, dropping our bags and leaving to make a reservation just as quickly. When we arrived back at the hotel late, the toilet wouldn't flush well. Natalie, the night clerk, moved us to another room. The new room had been smoked in. When we asked to be moved again, we were told there were no more clean rooms, and we would have to go elsewhere. We were out on the streets at 11:30 at night, trying to find another place to stay. The night clerk didn't offer to find us another property owned by Choice Hotels. We were in a pickle, trying to find somewhere to stay before midnight. The hotel clerk refunded the next night's stay, but not the first. She said we would have to talk to the general manager, Ms. s. Chawonza Brown, who I have decided is a phantom manager since she has refused to speak with me. Since March 19th, 2021, I have called almost every day to speak with anyone who might help our situation and have specifically asked for the general manager. I am told every time the manager is either not in on the days that I call or is on vacation. I have been told a variation on the same themes for the past 12 days. My last attempt today ended with the clerk hanging up on me while asking once again when I could expect a conversation with the manager for a refund. I have been nothing but professional, using only courteous language and tones with everyone I have spoken. I am baffled that we were charged $80 for a room that was not slept in or used and also how a corporation can permit a franchise to be managed so poorly. The three stars are specifically for the nice lady working the front desk. I think her name is Liz. She is wonderful. If not for her this would be a no star experience. Yes, This hotel is super close to lake Ray Hubbard. However, right now it's about 645, and I have been listening to extremely loud gospel music from below for the last 45 minutes. It literally rattles the floor. I'm guessing they hold church service here, but my infant is not accepting that explanation. My wife cleaned the tub, as all the tub jets were moldy. The room is par for the course, unfortunately it's right on I30 and traffic is super loud. There were no pillow cases on the pillows. There's only one towel in the bathroom which kind of tops everything off. I'm a choice hotels loyal customer and platinum member, but It's times like this that I consider changing. read more

On lake Ray Hubbard means you can catch a glimpse of the lake thru the trees. Or from the third floor east rooms. Oh well, close enough. Great location that's close to so many things. Hotel still in great shape, but look close and you can see the wear and tear. Comfy beds and pillows, but the tv is smaller than most CS we stay at. Not a problem. Internet is a different story. It's been reliable but SLOW! Oh well, close enough. Quit being so demanding and have a good time! Booked early so the price was right. We will stay here again. read more

This is probably one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at in my entire life. I have stayed in hostels and motels in third world countries in the African continent that were a lot cleaner and had better customer service than this place. I checked in at 3:45 PM only to find out that my room was still not ready, and housekeeping was rushing to get it done. The furniture was broken, the iron board had stains all over it and the shower barely had any hot water. The breakfast is very minimal, and the hotel itself needs a major renovation/facelift. Sad part is, they charge as much as some of the newer and better hotels in the area - I'm not sure why. Do yourself a favor and find yourself somewhere else to stay, even if you had to pay a little more. Trust me, it'll be worth it. read more

There was a deep crack in the ceiling and water damage.Their advertisement states that hot breakfast was included with your stay. Their wi-fi was inoperable.The breakfast was mediocre. There were no eggs, fruit, or breakfast drinks 95 percent of the time. There was no waffle batter on 3 occasions of my stay. Don't expect anything worth eating on the weekends. The base of my complaint was the general manager ( Stephanie). Stephanie was a middle aged Caucasian woman between 48-58, heavyset and wore glasses. Someone tried to enter my room three times, that I know of, without knocking. The first 3 days of my stay, I left early and was away from my room until nighttime. However, I noticed that my room had been cleaned each time. They scanned their key to unlock the door and tried to force their way into my room. They didn't succeed due to the door guard. On the last day of my stay, I was getting dressed. Suddenly I hear a click and then the door open about 2 inches followed by a loud thump. The door guard would not allow that person to walk in. I was undressed. I immediately ran to the door to catch whoever was trying to enter my room. There was no one there and there was no cleaning staff or cleaning carts present. I then heard the elevator going down. I had to finish dressing before I could enter the hallway. After I gathered all my things I went to the lobby to check out. I asked the clerk if she knew who was trying to enter my room. She looked surprised. She could not offer me a solution as to why someone tried to enter my room illegally. The clerk then stated that it must have been the cleaning staff. I asked her why did they not knock and identify themselves before trying to access my room.. I had already checked the hallway of each floor, there was no cleaning staff there. In fact, for the last three days of my stay, there was no cleaning staff. The schools had closed due to the weather and most businesses as well. As I was conversing with the front desk attendant, the general manager peeped around the corner. It was then that I knew it was her who tried to illegally enter my room. This general manger preceded to walk over to the front desk, leaned over the attendants shoulder as if she was verifying that I had finalized my bill. She assumed that I had left without paying. There are other incidents that happened at the hands of Stephanie (the general manager) that made me come to the conclusion that she was the one who entered my room illegally. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I received a response stating that due to the severity of the complaint, I should contact a lawyer. read more

READ THE FINE PRINT I made a reservation here for Friday-Monday in September 2019. I paid for the room in advance thinking that I would be okay if I got there a little later than expected. The unfortunate happened and I wasn't able to get to the hotel until Saturday morning because I had to work an overnight shift at the hospital nearby. All I wanted to do was sleep when I arrived at the hotel where they told me that my reservation had been cancelled because of a no-show policy. SO BECAUSE I DIDN'T SHOW UP THE NIGHT BEFORE, MY RESERVATION WAS CANCELLED FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND. They told me it was in the fine print that I accepted when making the reservation which is fine, but the courteous thing to do was maybe call me and let me know when you figured out I wasn't there at the right time, or email me. One way or another, when I arrived, there was no reservation for me and I was told that my prepaid funds for the reservation were non refundable. Fortunately, they were able to get me a room on the spot, but I had to spend an hour on the phone trying to get my refund on the reservation they had cancelled without my consent or knowledge. I had another night shift for the next two nights and was able to procure the room for the rest of my stay but it sure wasn't all that I expected it to be. Comfort Suites prides themselves on being 100% smoke free; however, they have failed to remove the old carpets, linens, and drapes that were in each room when they weren't 100% smoke free. It smells like old cigarette smoke in that place from the lobby up to the at least the 2nd floor where I stayed. Message to management and corporate: If you want to be 100% smoke free, change all the materials in the hotel that could possibly smell of cigarette smoke. It stinks in there. Message to corporate: Instill a policy that if someone is not there for their reservation, make a courtesy call to them to find out if they need to keep the reservation, extend it, or cancel it. This is the right thing to do for business. I was under the false impression that because I paid for something, it would be there when I needed it. I was completely wrong about this. Stayed last night and was very satified. Room was priced very reasonable, and the room itself was very clean, spacious and the King bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! My parents normally stay at this hotel when visiting. They are in their 70's and from out of state. This morning, they discovered their vehicle missing. It was towed and there were no signs in the parking lot. The staff provided the contact info but little else. The hotel should contact their customers before this happens. Hotel was on par for what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. Hotel staff was friendly enough, offering us our choice of which floor we'd like to stay on and since we were only in town for a single night, attending a wedding in the area, we chose the first floor because it didn't really matter as our time spent in the confines of the room would be minimal. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and typical (eggs, bacon, waffle maker, bagels, muffins, assorted juices, etc.) and the room was actually a bit bigger than I'd expected, featuring a small couch. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I had the displeasure of staying here on 6/26 and had one of the worst customer service experiences of my entire life. The fire alarm was going off at 6 AM and the lady at the front desk could not have handled the situation any more poorly. She was accusing several guests of pulling the fire alarm and provided no information or direction. Luckily there was no fire, but if there would have been, the guests would have been in trouble! This is one of the most important tasks of working the front desk of a hotel and this lady showed she was incapable of managing the situation. After everything was over, she would not apologize for her erratic behavior and refused to give me her name. All she said was, "figure it out," before storming off to the back office. This is a typical inexpensive budget hotel. The room and beds are comfortable and clean but the property itself is showing age, wear and tear. This is true of both bedrooms and common areas such as lobby, breakfast area, guest room halls, and elevator. Housekeeping issues in common areas exacerbate this (e.g. Lack of timely sweeping or vacuuming). If you are just looking for a cheap and comfortable place to stay and don't care about appearance as much as budget, this is an ok choice. If the appearance issues will bug you, look elsewhere. read more
