Purchasing a mattress is one of the hardest purchases a person makes - you don't get to "try it on"…read moreor "take it for a test drive" so needless to say making my recent purchase was one that I spent a lot of time doing as much homework as possible. My decision to go Mattress Firm was a result of that research, reviews I had read the products they carried, their pricing, etc. After all of the research I did the last thing I ever thought I would be doing is writing a negative review. The purchasing experience was pleasant, I was assisted by Bob, a very knowledgeable and professional sales associate who answered all of my questions, addressed all of my concerns positively. When checking out I was disappointed to learn their highly touted marketing campaign "100% next day delivery" was nothing more than words. I purchased my mattress on Monday the earliest availability delivery appointment was Friday between 7p and 10p. Yes, PM. Nonetheless It was a great value and they waived the delivery fee. Friday comes along, at 9:50pm I receive a call they are 5 minutes away. The truck arrives, the delivery driver asks if they are removing my old mattress and if so, could he please see it. Proceeds to walk back outside & to the truck where he helps the person assisting him finish removing the plastic from the mattress, they loosely keep the plastic where they are carrying it (I guess to keep their hands from getting it dirty?). Not 60 seconds later I see the new mattress ($1,450 mattress) hit the ground and drug 4 feet in the mud (but they just dropped it), something that probably wouldn't have mattered if they left the plastic on. When I asked why they took the plastic off the response was, "we didn't take if off, it ripped" - "I've never seen it rip like that," the other echos before he says "you probably don't want it now do you?' I refused delivery and thought given the experience that I would receive a call from the store, after all - my business is and satisfaction with their company is important to them right? Wrong. Not only did I not receive a phone call, I had to call. I explained the situation to Bob (who isn't empowered enough to remedy anything) and asked that he please have the regional manager phone me. Days later. I've received NO call, NO resolution and have still have NO mattress. Apparently superior customer service is not a standard operating procedure within this organization so if that is important to you I wish you better luck than I had because evidently luck is what you need. Speaking of luck - wish me some.

We visited no less than four stores and came away dissatisfied with the answers we got at various levels from each store. From "we don't have any in stock" to, "no, there is no guarantee on a $129.00 product", or "there is a $99.00 delivery fee with no other option". Most stores could not even show us an example in a different size. Some sales people had a hard time describing the difference between a wood foundation to a spring foundation. At the last minute while we were on our way to neighboring Walmart, we dropped in to Sleep Outfitters with now very low expectations to find what we wanted. Low and behold, we were wrong. The salesman (on December 22 in the late afternoon, did not get his name) greeted us immediately and listened to our questions. Not only did he have an example in the store (queen size) but he explained the difference in the foundation box springs and how the warranties worked with mixed mattresses and box spring sets. We told him we have a new Sealy mattress and he stated with that combo the box spring will have a ten year warranty. Finally, we felt like we had our needs met by not only the product but the salesmanship of the salesman. Needless to say, we bought what we wanted and will be able to pick it up in the store within a few days with no additional handling charges. As we left, we complimented the salesperson on his expertise and thanked him for helping us with what should have been our first stop in the process of buying a twin size box spring for our granddaughter. Look no further for your mattress shopping than Sleep Outfitters at this location anyway.

She behaves as if she owns the place and refuses to answer any questions about orders. When I tried to return an item, she constantly interrupted me, attempted to hang up on me, and accused me of yelling when she was the one raising her voice. It's incredibly frustrating when a manager makes up rules on the spot, contradicting what's clearly stated on the receipt. According to the receipt, I could return any item for any reason within 7 days of delivery. However, Vanessa insisted she needed to consult the salesperson, who, by the way, doesn't make the rules. This same salesperson sold me an unnecessary item in the first place. in addition, they make you pay for brand new order and they delivery used product with dents and not clean. Vanessa's attitude is unacceptable. She should not be in customer service, let alone a managerial position. This entire experience has been deeply disappointing, and I will never purchase anything from Value City Furniture again. Vanessa is so damn Ghetto. OMG!!!
