Highly recommend for those who are new to the comic world. As a new comic reader, I found the staff to be super helpful in filling me in on the "structure" of comics. I had no idea where to start and it's a bit daunting when you want to read Batman but you see issue #106 on the cover. I didn't know where I could pick up but the staff explained how the storylines work in comics and gave me great recommendations on where to start and what lined up with my interests. I woke never recommend these people to anyone! After exchanging several emails with the owner Glynnes we had agreed to $400 for my collection of over a thousand Comics. I had explained that I had been recently diagnosed with a rare thyroid cancer and survival chances are slim. She expressed sympathy and told me to bring the books. I showed up and she wasn't able to be there and her father briefly skimmed the collection and gave me $150! Some books were not in best shape but modern had been kept in bags with boards. Not to mention there were full books, sets and several rares in there. I didn't have the strength to carry them back out to my car and felt humiliated. The gentleman working the register even appeared to be upset by e what he had just witnessed. If you make an agreement with a person, you should honor it! Deplorable! read more

Popped in to get some boards and bags to sell a recently acquired small (600-800) collection of Silver/Gold Age comics on eBay. Walked in with my semi-annoyed 12 year old daughter. She'd rather be Insta/Tweet/U-Tubing with all her pals than hang wit her 'ol man at a comic shop. You guys with tween/teen daughters & sons know where I'm coming from right, effin digital age!!! Needless to say she was semi-chilled when she met the shops mascot/pup Kyera (Sp) who distracted her for long enough for me to get my groove on. Upon entry I (we) quickly met Glynnis (sp?) the shop's owner who for some reason still looks familiar to me? She enthusiastically greeted me and professed to give me the store's lowdown. She really knows her shit! She has been in the comic & collectables game for a long time and is very enthusiastic about the comic collecting hobby in general. From oldies (silver / golden age) to the latest graphic novels. One of a kind-proofs, independents, magazines, trade books and supplies, posters, POP, figurines, and every kind of other comic related stuff you can imagine. CBH has got you covered and then some. Where to start. Although this is my second time in this shop, this is the first time I went for the purpose of getting into comic book reading. As soon as my fiancée and I walked in we were greeted by the nice young lady in the front desk who asked if we were looking for something in particular which I eventually asked what she recommended for a beginner and she was very helpful with that. After an hour of my fiancée and I browsing around through every section of the store for comic books and other goodies, I finally picked a couple comics up for purchase. During checkout the front desk young lady was very helpful and generous with knowledgeable answers to my random newb questions. I will definitely be coming again to this awesome comic book store due to the warming environment and the amount of awesome comics that they carry from throwbacks, new releases, grails, among other things. Great places for comics, figures and art events! I bring my daughters there to expose them to comics, reading and art and it's a great environment with friendly staff and family atmosphere. It's always a positive experience and don't get snooty vibes like other stores when you bring a kid in. I also picked up cool comic cloth masks that I always get complimented for. Just wish they had a little more collectible figure n funko selection but comics are there gem. My favorite thing that gives this place character is there beautiful dog they got just chilling in there store! I think more shops need chill friendly dogs like that. This comic book store is such a hidden gem!!! Came in here on Saturday afternoon with my fiancé and they had such a large collection of really great comic books! You could get lost in here for hours. This store is located on Commonwealth Ave, near the Fullerton Police Station. I always walk by, but never have stopped. Today I walked in, and was greeted by a welcome hello. My eyes travelled to the "Wicked Girl" section, which are my favorite. The store is very organized, and the associates are eager to help you with your selection. The guy working was beyond helpful. He went the back multiple times to grab back issues for me. This place is huge. They have an arcade, a TV, and space for magic and D&D tournaments. Stopped by this spot on Wednesday evening and to our surprise it was still open late...5 stars just for that right there! Hubby is a comic collector so he was so happy to find 2 comics that he wasn't able.to get from he regular comic book shop. I also found some awesome coasters I had to have one for the office, one for home and the Stranger Things one for my daughter. One word to describe this comic book store: WOW (how can I set the font size to 90, because this should be a biiiig WOW)! I have visited almost every store in the Los Angeles and Orange County area and this is definitely the one that has the strongest spirit of comic books love!!! First of all, the space is very big and you can find all your new releases from the top publishers and the independent guys. But what strikes you when you enter here is the huge selection of back issues and the extreme care that the owner of the store put in organizing everything. Each and every issue is bagged and boarded, everything is in order, they have separate sections for each publisher, separate sections for some of the top authors, separate section for silver age titles (and they have a lot of them in great conditions and with good prices). Everything here smells of passion for comics. The owner is a young lady super sweet and pretty. She loves comic books and she is putting all her love in this store (and you can tell). She also organizes courses for kids on how to draw comics, courses for cosplayers, etc. This is comic book heaven! I should consider moving to Fullerton only to go to this store eheheh!!! read more

So I decided to take my daughters to this local comic book shop for our very first time so they can explore their emerging Marvel fandom, and boy did we go big. Spent well over $100 on some Wandavision books and comics that were recommended by a very kind young man that was patient with all three of us as he explained the evolution of the characters through the various printed materials that we didn't even know existed. For that much, I give the experience a solid 10. Now for the reason we will never, ever go back. No more than a minute after my paying for our goods, a dog the size of a small pony came charging out of nowhere INSIDE the store, and scared the ever-loving shit out of myself and my young girls. Apparently this was the shop dog, though there was absolutely no warning that such a thing should have been expected inside of NOT a pet store. I don't know why this company thinks that everyone that walks in there should love dogs, especially when it's a comic book store and not a Petsmart. That dog was HUGE and unleashed, and it CHARGED at us, apparently because it was excited at the sight of the employees' friends; because that makes it ok, for whatever reason. You got a lot of my money today and you could have much more, but my girls will never ever allow me to step foot in your location ever again. Commonwealth right next to the police station and caddy corner to Bootleggers! Plenty of parking in front (usually) or tons in the opus day bank lot or if it's really jammed ( new comic day, FNM, or Wednesday Game night) their is additional parking behind the rear lot. Comic Book Hideout is metric by which all comic shops should be graded. As soon as you enter, you instantly feel at home with their atmosphere and layout being both friendly and inviting. The staff picks of the week are a great way to encourage new readership as well as to foster a connection between the staff and the consumers. What sets this place apart is not the stock nor the pricing, but rather the people working who effortlessly go out of their way to value you, your time, and most importantly your wallet. What might be a simple 2 minute silent transaction at another shop can easily turn into a 20-30 minute conversation covering a multitude of subjects related and unrelated to comic books and the culture as a whole, while also not overselling you on what you didn't want in the first place. I've regretted many purchases at other shops, but never have I regretted any shopping done at CBH. The staff is always eager to help their customers find exactly what they are looking for, whether it's a new book on the first week rack or a special request for that hard to find treasure (The Flaming Carrot, in particular). Their social media wing comes off as very genuine and endearing. They aren't trying to sell a particular product or service but rather to simply have fun at their craft and hopefully encourage the consumer to have fun and enjoy their time as well. I've been shopping at this establishment since 2012 (when they were located in a tinier building) and I can say proudly that I recommend them to any and all who are interested in buying both esoteric and mundane. They use square for their transaction which makes tracking receipts incredibly simple. As a current member of their pull lists, getting bags and boards with my pulls is a nice touch that sets them apart. 5/5 is the minimum I would give this place. read more

Nice place friendly people.. my only issue is the over pricing on a Spider-Man 1 GOLD torment (Todd Mcfarlane) addition they not only had this issue not grade but had the nerve to price it at $600 for a miss print of white lettering on the title sadly they are mistaken and I feel bad for who ever bought it. Every issue has that my copy even has its. Depending if you find one it could land you $10-30 but not the newsstand one that's nearly $100-$120. Please do your research read more

I'm a new regular. I mostly go for the manga but the comic selection is great. The employees are very friendly and informative. They go out of their way to help you find you what you need. They have a dog that is super sweet and docile (Honestly didn't even know she was there my first visit, she's so quiet and gentle). In reference to a certain review. I was there 5/5/2021... very inaccurate portrayal of the dog, she just walked over to the door because someone was leaving she was curious and then walked back. If anything those little girls scared the sh*t out of me and my brother when they screeched and ran around the store (scaring other customers too). I'm glad that I won't have to encounter them again seeing as they will never return. Anywho, I can't wait to come back soon for more goods :) read more

At first, I wasn't sure if liked the Hideout. The comic book stores that I'd lately been frequenting were (from my perspective, anyway) more streamlined and organized; were more eye-catching, with respect to presentation and appearance; and were more reliable when it came to having in-stock new releases and variants. Plus, other shops...well, they just seemed cleaner. In fact, the first time I'd gone to the Hideout, I'd left without even making a single purchase, and that's with my having known that their Yelp Check-in Offer would have saved me an extra 10% off my entire purchase (of $10 or more.) However, very soon after my first visit, I showed up again. And I knew why. What I hadn't appreciated previously, possibly because I'd had a strict list of comics I was adhering to, was that I'd actually enjoyed myself just rummaging through their bins and by chance coming across something. Visiting the Hideout--and this is said with all due respect--is like spending time at garage sales or swap meets, finding that comics are available, and then, because you have the time, sifting through. I think at the Hideout, you'll want to make sure you have some extra time, not exactly because their inventory is all that extensive, but maybe a little more because of the shop's relaxed attention to organization. And, again, what I mean by that is that everything isn't laid out pretty for you--exactly alphabetized, exactly numbered, or exactly sorted. If you're about filling in a few storyline gaps or simply combing through rows of comics with a bit of history behind them, crates of miscellanea await. But, now, I appreciate the Hideout: the very casual atmosphere grew on me. And I'm glad it did. Because the Hideout, regardless of my review, deserves a nod. read more

Comic Book Hideout is an impressive comic book store! They have an amazing, vast selection.. Whether it's DC, Marvel, Image, etc. they've got what you need and more. I drove around the OC area looking for certain trade paperbacks, and I was lucky enough to find them all in this gem of a store. I love everything about this store, from the atmosphere, their selection and the employees. I didn't get a chance to get the name of the kind lady that helped me, but I believe she's the owner of this fine establishment. I had a few questions and was looking for 'American Vampire Vol. 1' which was out of stock but she placed an individual order for me. She was very patient, friendly and helpful.. So recently my girlfriend and I have been wanting to get into magic the gathering but with it being as massive as it is we were hesitant but were willing to give it a shot. We just needed to know where to start and the basics. I went to one other place first that i will not name but it was horrible there they acted like i was crazy for not knowing anything and basically told me i would be schooled by any player that played for longer. I left there quite upset. On the way home i decided to give one more place a shot and I heard that was this lovely establishment does things for magic as well so onward I went. walked through the door and was instantly greeted and asked if they could help me. I told them that my girlfriend and i was interested in magic and the guy (i cant remember his name sadly) talked to me about it and let me know what they do there and was extremely helpful. he then took me to there section where they sell there cards. I started to browse and see if there was anything i liked. he informed me about brawler, commander and the different formats. he then asked for my favorite color and a color my gf would like, then proceeded to had me 2 free decks for us to use and learn with. He told me to practice with those and then come to the pack release because that would be the best way to learn more and get more cards to learn how to play with an even playing field. I felt like i had a little whiplash. i was treated so bad at the first place and came here and i was treated by the most welcoming person that got me to feel like jumping into magic again. I will come back here for sure for that pack release and come back to browse through comics. TLDR Great service, kind, understanding, extremely helpful this is the kind of service people should strife for honestly at other stores. if anyone that works there reads this. This is a great comic shop. I have been to this shop before a couple times to buy some comics and I love the amount of indie comics they carry because a lot of the other shops I have been to don't have a large selection compared to Comic Book Hideout. I usually buy comics every two months so I miss out on the back issues of Batman and Detective Comics from time to time. The people who work there are very friendly and are very knowledgeable about comics. I wasn't able to find some issues of Batman Rebirth but, I was able to pick up some DC Metal which was great because I couldn't find it at the other shops I went to that day. I will be coming here more often to pick up my Batman and Detective Comics issues. I would have gave a four star rating for the lack of back issues with the dc rebirth and new 52 comics but, that is something minor and understandable since they are popular right now. P.S Sometimes a husky will be walking around the shop and it is very friendly with everyone :-) read more

If you are looking for any comic book, this is the place to go to. There are seriously so many comics in this place that you can spend hours upon hours digging through each crate. I had talked to the owner and she noted that they even have tons more in the basement. Seriously, there are tons of comics here. The staff is very knowledgeable about their selection compared to other comic book stores i have visited--- so you can tell that comic book hideout is both organized and comic book lovers themselves. In addition to comicbooks they also sell collectibles, toys, snacks and cold beverages, and have pin ball machines. They also have a lounge for people to relax. The prices are fairly reasonable-- but I will need to come back when I have more time to look around. It's located in the heart of downtown fullerton (a little of the main strip) so parking is pretty easy to find. read more

Condescending owner who seems to think she knows "golden and silver age comics" but in all honesty she's just looking for people to take advantage of. She assumed I knew nothing of what I was attempting to sell, and offered a mediocre amount when the items were worth substantially more and she knew it. Also, I'm not sure who she's trying to impress.. but the poor acting in her posts/ videos about sales etc are PAINFUL to watch... she needs to take it down a notch. I know this is CA but not everyone has acting talent. You're trying too hard. Her responses to other negative reviews only solidifies how the owner believes she's never wrong even though she takes these reviews"seriously". Overall, I will never return or recommend. read more

I visited this place when I was in the Fullerton area. My first and LAST time there. EVERYTHING is outrageously overpriced. All back issues, and I'm talking non-key/non-variants, had an extra $1-3 added on top of the cover price. Most of these books would be sold at cover price or lower at any other comic store. What really offended me as a collector was their bundled comic sets. Usually when you find a store that does bundle comics into sets they are reasonably priced. This please changes and arm,leg, and you have to take out a loan. I remember seeing a DC set of about 20 books, it was a middle series run like JLA 44-64, you know something from mid to late 2000's....$125.00?!?!?!? Seriously???? That set is a $20 set. Please be aware that thins place is no place to get REASONABLY price comics. read more

I'm new to the world of comics, so my knowledge of the comic word falls somewhere between non existent and sub par. Why do I say this? Because at the Comic Book Hideout, it doesn't matter how much you know or how little you know. The employees all know their stuff, they are helpful, patient and most importantly...they don't act like new elitist comic snobs, like many of the other shops around. The owner, Glynnes is a sweetheart and she knows her shit. She takes the time to talk with the customers and makes it so you feel like you are visiting friends rather than shopping for comics. Obviously a smart cookie, she doesn't give of the holier than thou vibe, and her general attitude is what makes her place a paradise to the geeks and makes the term "nerd" something to strive for. The selection...well....is beyond amazing. If you are missing a certain issue in your collection, I DARE YOU to not find it here. I live down the street from other shops and I come here simply because going anywhere else is a waste of time or gas. There are constantly 50% off deals going on, or other bargains, and that is already on top of great prices. This place will be around for a long time because it takes all of the charms of every other shop and puts them in one. I refuse to spend my money anywhere else. If you are looking to trade in some classic comics you have, this is the ONLY place where you can be sure you are getting a fair deal. I've traded in comics for comics and while one place refused to work with me, CBH had me walking out with a smile. These guys will become your new friends and this place will become you new comic shop. Do yourself a favor, make the trip. If you have already been there....what the hell are you reading this for? You know how great it is! I don't need to tell you anything, this is for the people who haven't ventured yet. Is it normal to be waiting close to 1 year for an order only to call up 3 months in, and be told to not call unless they call, 6 months later that the order no longer exists on their computer at their store so you must re-order, to then finally after another month in half get Half my order???! (Guessing computers here make a lot of mistakes cause as of right now there has been no fault admitted on the half of the workers, honestly wished they just would have told me if it was going to be this hard) Used to love this place, can literally walk there, had some awesome shows, as well as David Liebe Hart's art in the window forever.
