When we went in March, there were still remaining snow & ice, which made it more challenging but doable, lots of climbing like you're on a stairmaster with sections of inclines & declines and there's 2 main trails. We hiked the first 2.2-mile, Nassau Suffolk *out-and-back* Trail. Just keep walking until you see the road and from there, you can either turn back or cross the street to hike the second *loop* Trail. Highly recommend coming here to hike if you're in the area.

I didn't park on Fort Salonga Road to get in, google maps always takes me a different way so I entered the trail from Makamah Road. The hike I took was a little over a 2 mile loop and I did it in snow because I will hike in snow even though it's a little rough. I had a great time looking at all the nature and actually taking time to think about stuff in life and realize what I want, what I don't want, what's in my life that could give me what I'm looking for, what I have to do to go get what I'm looking for. I might come back here with someone I'm currently flowing with if it still keeps up or again by myself or with my son when he's older and can handle a longer hike.

To the right, or Eastern half, the trail has hills ans passes a creek and pond, and then leads to a tidal area of Long Island Sound. To the left, or Western half, the trail tend to be flatter and passes through woods until again coming to the Northern end of the park and the tidal area. If you walk quietly, you will see chipmunks and the occasional deer along the trail. Please be careful of all the poison ivy on the sides of the trail and growing up some of the trees.

The beach was relatively clean (maybe because it is now fall and not that many people go there). Great view of the North Atlantic Ocean. The overlook deck and stairs were well maintained. The trail to access the beach was less than 1 mile and it was not a loop. There were plenty of parking spots at the parking lot, however, a $4 parking fee per passenger car was charged (pay at the kiosks using cash or credit card). Overall it was a great experience and easy hike for my kids.

Very spacious and clean pools. About 50-100 tanning lounge chairs to choose from. Very attentive lifeguards. Snack bar is available as well. A diving pool, Olympic pool, swimming lanes, adult section, and various feet of water to swim in. This is all included when you pay the one time fee for the day. So sad I only learned about them towards the end of the summer! They close on Labor Day. Will definitely make it a staple to come back next summer.
