My wife and I came in after checking out a few other bike stores. Babylon Bike Shop had been highly recommended by a friend. Upon entering we were happy to see a large selection of everything from kids bikes to high end road and triathlon bicycles. We were greeted by Mike who asked us a few basic questions about what we were looking for before showing us a few bikes within our specifications and budget. Both Mike and Ryan explained some of the pros and cons of each and helped us decide on the bicycle that gave us the most value for our money. I have to say that we asked a million questions, they took plenty of time with us, and we never felt rushed or pressured. We then underwent a very thorough bike fitting to be sure that the bikes we were getting would fit us individually. We chose our colors and they ordered our bikes. Before the bikes even came in, I called back with another hundred questions and again they took plenty of time and answered everything so that I understood. When the bikes came in and were assembled, we came to get them, Babylon Bike Shop has a wonderful selection of everything you could need for your bike. From bike helmets, shoes, locks, pumps, etc, they have got you covered. We also bought a set of Babylon Bike jerseys that are very nice quality and have a great design. While we were there, we saw that the entire staff helped every customer with the same amount of excellent care that they extended to us. Their service department takes care of everything from repairs to routine service. Lastly, we were very pleased to find that we were able to buy two Trek bicycles for less than they would have been at the Trek store! read more

Mike was super helpful when I came in for a fitting. Since I'm new and not sure if I'll stick with cycling, he just adjusted the key things and gave me a few beginner tips instead of pushing anything extra. I'd definitely go back to Mike if I need more help as I get into it, he made the process really easy and enjoyable. Ok so I'm picking up my two bikes for checkup. This is my go to spot for my bikes. So I'm waiting and a kid walks in and asks how much it would be to oil up his bike. Good staff, you can see all the work being done on your bike. All the staff were cordial. Read some negative reviews here on yelp but that has not been my experience. When you read negative reviews just like positive ones they should probably be taken open to your personal experience. If I could give this bike shop ZERO stars I would. i went in on Sunday 08/04/2024 for a tire replacement. I was borrowing an electric bike from a friend and it needed a new tire. I had the tire and the rim because it all needed to be replaced. I went in and was told to bring the bike in. The bike is heavy and I struggled to bring the bike in no-one offered any help. Once I had the bike in the shop I was told I had to remove the battery. I AM BORROWING THIS BIKE AND NOT SURE WHERE OR HOW TO REMOVE THE BATTERY. I asked the guy who told me to remove it for help as I am only borrowing the bike he told me NO!! Their business is in customer service, what kind of customer service are you providing by telling customers no! As i was trying to figure it out he then proceeded to berate me for where I was in the shop trying to locate the battery. After about 10 minutes of struggling I still couldn't figure it out I said I am just going to go to another shop, I was told OKAY! Once again what kind of customer service is this shop providing?!?! At this point I went out side to trying and get help from my disabled passenger because I knew they weren't going to help me get the bike back outside. As I am outside getting my disabled help the guy in the shop decided to bring my bike out for me and put it in the bike rack without saying one word to me and walking back inside. Once again what kind of customer service is this shop providing?!?! Every person in that shop was male, workers and customers. it has me questioning the guys motive. Are his customer service skills seriously lacking or was it a mix of terrible customer service skills and male chauvinist outlook. I brought my bike to BIKE DEPOT IN EAST ISLIP and they helped me out, no need for me to take the battery out and I was done within the hour. I will never ever go back to bbs. I know one person out of the hoards that "love" them doesn't mean much but if my experience can help deter at least one more person from going there this review will serve its purpose. read more

Like everyone else during this time (covid) we are biking multiple times a day. My daughter's bike was clearly too small. But what do you do? We didn't want to browse a store - this was early April, full blown pandemic. We called the shop, explained our need, and they sent us pictures. She picked her 4 favorites and we let them know. We went to the shop and they had the bikes under the tent outside for her to try. She got a great bike, bell, and basket. Now she flying around loving the freedom the bike gives her during all of this! read more

My friend and I stopped in yesterday durning our bike ride to get our bikes checked out. They weren't able to do it on the spot and since our bikes were 5+ years old we decided to take a look around. We fell in love with one in particular. What a difference from our $150+ bikes. The ride was completely different and so much better. The color and size we needed had to be assembled. They did us a huge favor and built them on the spot in 2 hours. Which was very nice since we needed to ride back to our cars in another town. The owner and women ( wife? ) who helped us were very kind and patient. We were able to test ride them outside and she even threw in a water bottle holder which is great because we both didn't have one on our old ones! They also take bikes for donation if you have any laying around ! Highly recommending and will be sending my boyfriend here to try and fix a few things on his bike as well. read more

After purchasing a Peloton bike in July, me and the hubs went in for spin shoes with cleats that would work on Peloton. They were doing service outdoors under a tent in the parking lot d/t Covid. Service was prompt, the sales woman offered suggestions on which shoes to choose and applied the Delta cleats for us. We both chose Specialized brand shoes and are very happy. Later, we compared prices on Amazon and were not too disappointed. We didn't find them at a much lower price, so overall we are pleased with the Babylon Bike Shop. read more

Doug did not put his nose in the air like some shops. Quite the opposite he showed me the best bang for my buck. A 2018 Specialized Allez. The new bike came with a free fitting. That session set me up for real comfort. The owners cycle. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Good selection. Good prices. And they reward loyalty. Ignore the one review with one star. I've been shopping at Babylon Bike for probably 25 years or more. I had purchased four road bikes from them.i can't say enough good things about everyone there, including the owners Mike and Doug. I moved from LI to NYC 5+ years ago, and was planning a road trip out west for three weeks, so I brought both my bike and my wife's in for an overhaul of the entire drive train. Not cheap, but far from expensive. Mike M. Is a real rider, a good family man and an all around good dude. Aside from the bikes, I'm sure I hung around and overstayed my welcome looking at bike stuff because, well, I love that stuff. I never felt unwelcome. Living in the city, I was tempted to buy a barely used Cervelo, but I had to give Mike a call, just to see. He knows my riding style and buying habits and set me up with a sweet Canondale System Six. I had to rent a car to drive out there to get it, and my wife and i took a day off to do it just because we wanted to. Mike was attentive, adjusted my horribly positioned cleats on my shoes and dialed the bike in perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about Babylon Bike and Mike and the crew. I have purchased bikes, numerous parts, jerseys, winter gear, shoes, helmets and even gels. I may not live nearby, but so long as I'm still in NY, I'll be going there for my cycling needs. read more

Terrible experience over and over here. I have no idea why I keep going back. Man behind the counter has a terrible attitude. Wanted to get a bike and simply did not like the color. I told him nicely I did not want that one and he looked at me like I had 10 heads and says you don't want this because of the color and then says good bye and turns around and dismissed me and ignored me from that point till I walked out.the Last bad experience was 2 and a half weeks to bleed my brakes. Was the only customer in the store, and the sales woman + mechanic didn't even attempt to help me. When I asked for help they didn't even get up from their chair to attempt to help me sort through unorganized set of boxes while I looked for the correct size. Their store is dirty and you can tell product hasnt moved in a while because of the dust. I left unhappy and empty handed. Drove to Brands bicycle in Wantagh and purchased with help from a great staff and a great environment. read more

What a rip off... went there to get a tube and tire... guy looked at it.. i said the least expensive option being its just a beach bike..he said 35$ i said fine... ill be back in 30 min. I get back and the owner said 56$ i said your guy told me 35$.. he said well you need a tube and 10$ labor... i said no one ever said that. He yells back to the repair dept to be more clear next time on pricing... and charges me 56$... i would never go back. Okay so I got stranded today in babylon on my way to sayville from the LIRR. I had my bike with me but was giving me resistance to ride and my breaks didn't work. I planned on stopping in sayville bike shop because I know they're reliable but I got stranded in Babylon. Instead I had to stop in this shop quick to see if I could get help with my breaks because it's a long dangerous ride from babylon to sayville especially without breaks. Got into the shop, nobody else inside but employees, the guy who seemed to be in charge had time to stop and listen to my whole story but said he was too busy to help with my breaks and said good luck as I was leaving. With that kind of mindset, these people don't care what happens to you!!!! After this experience I don't trust this business. It was my first and last time there for sure. 0/10 don't recommend. From babylon LIRR to sayville was the worst ride ever thanks to these guys. As soon as I got to sayville, said everything that was said to babylon shop (no trash talking shops) and was welcomed with warm arms and helped no problem. It's understandable if the shop was busy and there's no one available to help. But I walked right in Babylon Bike shop to tell them my breaks don't work i'm going on long ride I need help. They let me walk right out with non functioning breaks. Trash people. If you're answer is going to be no you're too busy to help someone who really needs it then you don't deserve to stay open. Before going into the Babylon Bike Shop, I had never visited the place before so I didn't know what to expect but as a first time customer they helped out loads! The woman who works there who i forgot the name of was very attentive, patient and asked tons of questions to get a feel of what I was looking for. I was originally looking for a cruiser bike since I wasn't really sure of other bike options for me, but after a while of trying many cruiser bikes, she showed me a beautiful red bike that wasn't a cruiser and I was obsessed! One thing I will say though is that when the guy who drops off the bikes dropped off mine, he did not knock on the door and left my bike on a different numbered apartment than mine. Thank god I was sitting in the living room waiting and saw the boy walk away because If I had not, I don't know if my bike would have been stolen or not. I know they call you to tell you they are on their way but I just felt like it was odd to not knock on the buyers door to give them the bike. This place is the BEST. I was in dire need of a repair while riding in the Ride to Montauk from Manhattan this weekend, and they came through for me. Owner Doug told me exactly what needed repairing, gave me a great price on my replacement part and even checked my brakes for me before I left. And in just a few minutes! I walked into Babylon bike shop with my bike because it was rubbing against the rear brake. Doug looked at my bike and said it would take 1 week to finish because he needs to take apart everything and he had 50 bikes in front of me. He then complained that because I did not purchase the bike through them and the tires need air; he couldn't possibly fix the bike anytime soon. (Air takes 30 secs to fill and when I looked inside two employees were sitting down playing on their phones) I knew that it would only take 10 mins tops to fix the bike but he proceeded to tell me that I was wrong, shaking his head saying its an hour job. I left and ended up driving 10 mins to east islip bike shop, he took the bike inside, put it up on the rack and I was out the door in 5 mins. (10$) I highly recommend never going to Babylon bike shop, they are rude, stubborn and very costly $$$ read more
