Booked by our HOA, this service severely underdelivered. They arrived extremely early in the morning only to violate quiet hours with excessive nuisance noise, which RATTLED nearly every house! Additionally, they block traffic and emergency lanes, block people's garages, and do a subpar job as icing to the cake. We've had communication with them before not to arrive super early, with exceptions on hotter days so they can beat the heat, but this wasn't one of those days. read more

The team they sent over was acted unprofessional, and the way they acted around the neighborhood just wasn't right. It felt like nobody was keeping an eye on them, even though they had a big job to do. I had a bad experience with one of their workers - felt almost like harassment. And to top it off, my car got damaged while it was parked, and it ended up costing me a lot to fix. When I tried to get some help from their insurance, they turned me down because I didn't have "clear images" of what happened. read more

This is a very incompetent tree company I would steer clear of this one if you need tree trimming or tree removal services. The workers cut down the run birch tree which was on the opposite side of a condo complex. They cut down a healthy, large tree which you can't just simply replace. Furthermore, they did not apologize for it and said it was a 'human error' when clearly this was an issue of bad supervision and management. The manager said he simply wasn't supervising them when they decided to cut it down. This gross incompetence is a violation of city ordinances and property managers are responsible for trees illegaly removed, so unless you want to pay fines for such a terrible company , I suggest hiring a better tree service. read more

Job: Remove 100 ft tall palm tree in front yard between house and high voltage lines. We recently bought a house in Campbell, which had a 100 ft tall palm tree standing about 10 feet from our house and about 15 feet from high voltage lines. During storms, this palm would lean and drop fronds on the high voltage lines and our roof. Needless to say, we needed to get rid of it. Due to the position of the tree relative to the high voltage lines, we had 1 contractor decide he could not do the job after scaling the tree. Some other contractors who came to quote and did not even bother to mention the high voltage lines made us worry. Commercial Tree Care on the other hand took the situation very seriously and their attention to detail set my worries aside. CTC is not the cheapest (by far), but in situations like these when you need the job done perfectly and safely, I tend to believe you get what you pay for. CTC called PG&E on our behalf to make sure it would be ok for their bucket truck to go over the high voltage lines while chopping the tree. CTC also suggested we contact city hall to get permission to clear the street of any cars the night before. They were very kind to come through the evening before and put up signs and cones to help keep the street clear. To me, this shows a company that has tremendous experience and regard for homeowner safety (and insurance). On the day of, a crew of 4 showed up right on time to start. Because the bucket truck needed to come onto our driveway to access the tree, the crew brought big plywood planks to set down so the wheels did not contact our pavers. The process was very methodical- bucket up, pieces cut, and lowered down slowly by rope until hand caught by 2 crew members. Wood pieces never touched the grass, which I very much appreciated. The tree was inside a round brick pop-up feature surrounded by flowers and close to our water lines, so we asked CTC to cut the stump as smooth as possible and as close to the top of the bricks, with no need for grinding. I had no expectation CTC would keep the flowers alive, but they somehow managed to make the stump super smooth, super flat, super flush, and somehow... the flowers are still there. Cleanup was great as well. Street was blown, lawn was cleaned. Very professional and very efficient. Job took about 3 hours. I later asked the crew how long they had worked for CTC. 3 of the 4 had been with the company for more than 10 years. To me, this was not unexpected- they worked together well, and I guess if you find a good company, you stick with it. Bottom line- because of the cost, I wouldn't hire them to cut down small trees in my backyard, but for big, special jobs- CTC is well equipped and was everything I expected and more. read more

Once I found out from City SJ that our tree removal was contracted to Commercial Tree Care, I called them and was greeted by Melissa. She's very professional, easy to work with and very thorough. My paperwork was not there with them yet but with Melissa's diligence, she was able to get my paperwork started, expedite the process and arrange her crew the following day to come out and cut our sycamore tree that was impacting our water meter. Our birch tree was big when we moved in 35 years ago, and it needed some TLC. I was really nervous because I have seen many Birch trees be so pathetic after trimming. Third time I've hired Commercial. They were as unbelievably friendly, prompt, clean and courteous as always, not to mention their talent for attention to detail. This time I had a dead tree, 40 feet tall, in the far corner of the back yard, to be removed. Oh! Did I mention it was tangled in the power lines? They told me they'd be there at 10 AM and arrived exactly on time. Although the dead tree was not structurally sound enough to climb directly, they found a way to attack it one limb at a time from the adjacent trees. It was down in less than two hours, including all wood removal anclean up. I tell you, when these guys leave, the area is cleaner than when they arrived! If I had not seen them, I'd have never known they were there working! Next day, again exactly on time, the second crew arrived to grind the stump, clean as a whistle. Then they planted the replacement maple for us as well. Yep...one call and the entire removal and replacement was coordinated for us. You gotta' try these folks! read more

We recently relocated to a rental property in San Jose; like any rental property it has its ups and downs. One of those downs was a massive pine tree in the front yard which overhung the driveway; I would guesstimate it was between 35 and 40 feet tall and festooned from top to bottom with tight green cones. Now I love trees as much as the next guy, but let's be reasonable here, only an absolute moron plants a conifer where it can decimate cars by raining its massive piney missiles on their hoods, roofs, fenders and trunks. I'm fortunate enough to have a brand new car, it's a fancy German car with aluminum body panels and the like, you know the kind that makes you go Boo Hisssss when you write the payment check every month. I'd have sooner been found stone-cold-dead than let that tree rain on my baby. So we had a bit of a conundrum, until the tree was gone I had to park in the street; not the best place for a new car. I explained this situation to Commercial Tree Care and they did everything they could to jam us into their schedule. I called on a Wednesday mid-day and by afternoon Friday with the buy-in of the landlord the tree was gone with nary a trace. Nothing got damaged, no debris was left, the stump was cut nearly flush to the ground. These guys are a class act all around and the price was great to boot. I recommend Commercial Tree Care without equivocation. Ohh and as an aside, the property looks immensely better for the effort. read more

From the initial visit and proposal process to their arrival and completion they were professional in every aspect. They even put up caution signs on our street regarding the tree trimming work.
