Engaged Sean again for a new project, removing an overgrown non-producing plum tree, shaping and trimming a large Pistache street tree and a Japanese Maple, along with two shrubs in the backyard. Sean took care of filing the permit for the street tree and worked within my schedule. The crew arrived on time and did a great job expertly extracting the plum tree, grinding down the main trunk and a lateral root. They took their time to remove dead wood areas and shape the larger trees to comply with city regulations but still retain shape and shade. Same was done with the shrubs/trees in the backyard, improving spacing from the house and reducing height to not block solar panels. All debris was removed and ground up in their wood chipper. Professional, detailed, and a very reasonable price! Arranging an initial meeting with Sean was easy after an initial phone call and he would take notes as I showed him around to make the plan together. I had a big project and he was very patient and took the time to identify the trees and share his thoughts as well. He can do so much for the fruit trees to help debulk/concentrate the growths as well as pruning, I was really happy to hear about the options to simplify and maximize my harvest. We settled on a price with a handshake and then set the date for the work. The project was done very nicely and well and not a spot of loose branches or leaves that they didn't clean up and cart away themselves which was very impressive! There was one thing I pointed out that I asked if he could come back to trim and his brother Steve was happy to do so in no time. More of an addition than an update HeSaid: It's been about 4.5 years since our last woodchip drop from Curry Brothers Tree Care, and our old chips (used as mulch) were ready for a refresh. I'd been meaning to reach out to the company to ask about getting a new delivery, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Randomly, Sean messaged me mentioning that he had some cedar chips (same as last time) and asking if I wanted them. We scheduled a delivery for the same day, his driver brought them and I'm ready to head into the weekend to do some yard work. I was worried about my Japanese Maple tree because there were a lot of dead branches so I called a couple of tree trimming companies for a quote. Months later, in the city permit portal, the permit still showed under review, so I reached out to the person listed as handling the application. She sent me the last e-mail to Lovie, in which she explained that his wording was the reason for the permit being denied, and stated how to move forward with it. I definitely wasn't expecting to use a tree service at the beginning of summer, but... last Friday, there was a wind storm that blew my backyard tree over.. taking out my PG&E and Xfinity cables...and taking over the entire grass area! I messaged Curry Brothers Tree Care at 7:35AM on Saturday and received a prompt response in 5 mins (!!) Sean was able to come and give me a quote less than 2 hours later. I'm impressed already. But he continues to impress me more by letting me know he would be able to have his crew come do the tree and stump removal on Monday. I thought I'd have to wait a week or so, because I said it wasn't an emergency! I had messaged a couple other places that took their time to respond so early bird catches the worm definitely applies here, but I also want to note that Sean's quote was extremely fair :) Believe all the great reviews here. I love redwood trees. I love OUR redwood tree. But after the first round of storms, when I saw cracks in the ground around the base of that redwood tree, I knew the strong winds had blown it hard enough to lift up the roots, which were all sitting in soaked ground, and if the next storm pushed it even harder, our beloved redwood tree was taking out our house and a chunk of our neighbors' home too. So we called, Sean came out, and he confirmed that while he didn't want to take a saw to our tree any more than we did, it was a hazard and had to be taken care of before the next storm rolled in. They came a few days later, cut off the top, and thinned the branches so that the wind would go through the tree rather than push it over, and sure enough, when the next storm passed, the ground was completely undisturbed.
