LOVE the "on the go" locations for Common Bond. This one is on our Sunday route. Been a fan of Common Bond in Montrose for what feels like a decade so def familiar with the brand. This one lives up to it. Sourdough loaf is $5. So delicious. I do not like the pre-sliced option personally. No clue why I just like getting the loaf whole. I've never had to wait long for the drive through and it's such a convenient location off the highway and not as wild as the Ella row of restaurants and coffee. I went to get some croissant for a friend, butter, almond and chocolate. Which was good but I also picked up a baguette for myself. First thing I notice is they had a few in a plastic bag. If you know baguette you should never store them this way even for transport. The baguette was very white, seems under baked and more soft than hotdog buns. French baguette are supposed to be golden color and crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Normally, I would get the baguette at Magnol but this was where I was at so I picked one up. As part French, no French place should be serving this American loaf. I hope the owners read this and stop this unbaked style you're pushing out these days. I'm patiently waiting for CommonSense Bond to come dangerously close to my house! I absolutely LOVE thier pastries, tea, desserts, and some hot dishes. I love looking in the display of the big unique birthday cakes, I'm going to buy one for a coworker one day. They look so cute! My favorite pastries from here are the Qouin (sorry, sp) Amann which is a love pastry covered in castor sugar with a bruleed bottom. That bruleed bottom is so delicious and adds such a nice flavor to the pastry, yum! I also like the morning bun. To me it is like a cross between a cinnamon roll and a croissant...... but maybe that doesn't capture it correctly. They too are dusted with castor sugar. Walked in and asked if they had a restroom so I could wash my hands before eating and the guy at the counter with the nose piercing had AirPods in and it felt like I was interrupting him by asking and I had to ask a few times because he was facing the other way. I let it go and came back to the counter to order and felt like the questions I had were yet again too much for him to. I felt like me being there at his place of work where he applied for the job was too much of an inconvenience for him. I don't understand why it's so hard to make the same hibiscus tea from location to location. I used to go to the original restaurant on Dunlavy for the hibiscus tea multiple times a week. But because of the inconsistency even at the original location, I gave up trying. Today, with the sun out, after several years, I decided to give this Shepherd location a chance because it is convenient. When you never know what you're going to get, it's not a good sign. Consistency is key in keeping customers. This particular location made the worst one yet. Over all, what used to be one of the best bakery/restaurants in the city, CB has gone way downhill. I love Common Bond. I bought some blueberry muffins and they were very disappointing. Literally only 2 blueberries in it. I called this On-The-Go Common Bond Garden Oaks location, where the blueberry muffins were bought at. I spoke with Taylor, the supervisor, and he was super kind, helpful, and apologetic. He replaced my blueberry muffins and offered me a coffee for the inconvenience. Wow! The blueberry muffins I received were incredibly delicious, loaded with blueberries, topped with those tasty sugar crystals. The coffee was also out of this world! I enjoy this location. They are no cash, cards only. You can order ahead for pick up via the Toast Tab app. You can dine in or use the drive through. Both options for your pick up if you ordered in advance. I like their coffee drinks. Not as varied in choices as national chains but it's good coffee and not half sugar. Sorry no huge "trifecta" or whatever size available, sorry. ;) Oh! And their bread! It's fantastic! So are the croissants, and they're huge! They'll slice your loaf on request. They don't secure lid of coffee and fill it to brim so it spills all over yourself. I chose the chicken salad croissant on a staff member's recommendation. It's prepackaged and refrigerated behind the counter. The croissant is not too dry from being in the refrigerator. The chicken salad is tasty and very mushy like tuna salad. The romaine lettuce and cheese add an extra touch to the sandwich. I was a little leery of the ham and cheese due to past photos. It's pretty tasty and wrapped with paper and placed in a paper bag. The baguette is more like a grocery store version and less of a bakery version as it's plump, more dense than fluffy and not very crispy. The ham slices weren't too thick, a little sweet and salty and just enough in ratio to the bread. The Gruyère slices aren't too thin. The Dijon butter doesn't stand out as an ingredient. I was able to walk in one day, then the next day, only the drive-thru was available per Management. There's a large patio facing the road and plenty of parking behind the building. The staff was nice. After ordering in the "garage", turn left and wait at the black window for payment and pickup. read more

This is my second review. This place is a disaster. I ordered 6 packs of the rolls 3 days ago. I show up to pick up and do not have my order. No bread period. And the girl proceeds to tell me she can do refund my money because something is wrong with their system. She called the manager who never said the word SORRY and just told me that they don't have it they have lots of issues. And I said did you see my order 3 days ago and she said no. Great food, horrible service. I absolutely LOVE the full service location in the Heights but the On The Go spots unfortunately fall short. Here are a few of the issues I've had in the last 2 months: can't hear the drive thru worker through the speaker, boxes piled up in the drive thru line so you can't drive thru, wrong orders (twice), not having the best selling Nutella croissant upon opening (twice), REALLY slow service (compared to Starbucks across the street) and routinely not opening on time. It's a shame too because the location is good and the food/coffee is great. The service just falls woefully short. If you're looking for a quick coffee (and more) on your way to work, skip this place and go to Starbucks instead. read more
