Came here on a Monday night just to see what Mr. Purple was about. A Monday night doesn't do justice to a Friday or Saturday I'm sure because it was pretty calm. This place is inside of a hotel on the rooftop. The downstairs area doesn't do justice for what you will see when you get upstairs. There is a security at a desk that checks ID's upon entering. After getting through check-in there's a bar/lounge area. Then outside there's a patio lounge area with tables and a POOL. How cool! The view is bomb too. You can see the whole NYC skyline. It was a very chill night you don't need to be a guest at the hotel to enter and lounge which is great. I had a nice time and will go back on a night where there's an event happening. read more

We were staying at the hotel & stopped by a few times, during the day u can grab food, drinks & maybe enjoy the pool although not this time as the pool was closed during our stay. At night it's a much different vibe , more of a lounge, decent music playing not bad. Best thing here is the views, either during the day or night, although at night this time u were not allowed outside because of the rain. Drinks Margs seltzers & gin & Ginger ale not bad, quick enough service. Not sure if u have to pay to get in? Since we were guest at the hotel we didn't they just scanned our card. Mr. Purple at the Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side is a solid rooftop spot and worth a visit if you are in the area. The views are beautiful and being able to see the Empire State Building from up there is always a nice touch. The music and vibes outside were good, open seating and a big dance floor made for a fun atmosphere. We also caught some of the World Cup while hanging out which was a great bonus. The lychee martinis were delicious, definitely recommend those. It is a popular spot so expect a crowd but if you go with the right group and the right drink in hand you will have a good time. read more

They have a pretty decent menu (and a full bar so I imagine they can make you something ride too). There's a dj playing and generally good vibes. Didn't think there was a dress code cos all sorts were there Drinks: Iced coffee: a very well rounded drink I highly recommended it if you like boozy (not too boozy) non sweet cocktails with the right amount of body Purple smoke: this was delicious but too sweet for me but also a well balanced drink overall The matcha one (can't remember name) was surprising - you get the matcha pretty thoroughly and it's such a well balanced drink. Not very sweet either The 'beet' cocktail (I'm calling it cos you can't expect me to have a cocktail night and expect need to remember ask these cutesy inventive names) was a tad too sweet but also citrusy and aromatic. Mr. Purple's interior decor is very nice from moment you step off the elevator, walk around the bar/restaurant area and finally arrive to the rooftop/pool area. My bestie and I were here to attend an event and we had a wonderful time. There was a DJ playing a variety of music from different genres. We were enjoying the music and having a great time dancing as well. The view from the rooftop was cool. The rooftop area was decent, but in terms of size it was okay as long as it wasn't overly crowded. I love the fact that there was a pool. Overall, it is a cool spot to hang out. read more

Decided to stop by for a quick drink around 11:30 PM. Thankfully there was no line when we arrived, but by the time we left around 1 AM there was already a line forming. IDs are checked at the door and bags are checked once inside. Drinks were definitely pricey, which I expected and don't mind as long as they're good but unfortunately the Codigo margarita was extremely sour. It seemed like it might have been the mix they use, and the tequila tasted pretty cheap considering the price. The place was packed with a younger crowd. Music was a min one minute a Spanish song, the next country pop which felt a bit random. But will return in the summer to give it another try. read more

Mr. Purple came highly recommended by a friend who lives nearby and calls it her go-to rooftop spot with her husband -- and now I see why. We went on a Friday night after a long workweek, and the breeze on the rooftop felt like an instant reset. The vibe was upbeat but not overwhelming -- great music mixing everything from the '90s to the 2000s and beyond. You could tell the DJ was trying to cater to everyone -- and it worked. The crowd skewed younger (early 20s), but we also saw plenty of folks in their 30s hanging out and enjoying the night. While a lot of people were dressed up (think heels, mini skirts, going-out outfits), we showed up casual in sandals and had zero problems getting in -- no line, no cover, straight to the rooftop. We grabbed a beer, I stuck with Coke Zero (which, surprisingly, was free!), and just hung out for a couple of hours, soaking it all in. There were also seated areas and booths that seemed to need a reservation -- probably great for groups or longer hangs. Overall: chill atmosphere, great music, solid rooftop views, and no fuss. The AC in the lobby was way better than in the lounge itself. Not hot per se, but definitely not comfortable. The smoke and mirrors was good. Pear-fect spritz and lemon martini were both too sweet. The $6 frank in a blanket was only 3 pieces amounting to 1/2 a hot dog. The most annoying thing was they presented the bill to us on the suggested tip screen, but i realized the total did not match what we had ordered. When asked they said it in cluded 20% tip. I hung out here several times during my weekend stay at the hotel this past summer. We enjoyed the fantastic rooftop views and the pool. We even came up one night after dinner for the party vibes. It's definitely a younger crowd. Drinks were a but pricey, but not over the top. It is NYC after all. I think they charge a cover for the rooftop party after a certain time, but we didn't pay one - maybe it's free if you're a hotel guest?! Don't quote me on that. Mr. Purple is located in the lower east side. They have promising views of the city and the outdoor space is pretty large. They also have a gorgeous bar area with ample of seating as well. I recommend reservations for the weekends. Service was attentive and the music was a vibe. The only ding was drinks were pretty pricey $23 and food was $16 and up. This side had some seating and no DJ, but a speaker playing music still. We were able to easily get a drink at the bar though, which were around $20 each. It's Manhattan, so pretty typical prices here. I do like that they have a more quiet side for people to enjoy as well, although not as great of a view on this side. Came to Mr. Purple for New Year's Eve and was pretty happy with my decision. Going out on NYE in NYC is always a risk - you're spending $$$ on a ticket hoping that the music and vibes are good, the place is busy but not so packed that you have to fight your way to the bar to make that unlimited drink package worth it. Mr. Purple delivered on all the above. We were one of the first to arrive, and it took around 20ish minutes before doors officially opened and we were let up. Coat check was available for $5, tables and chairs were around for those who wanted to sit (plus certain tables reserved for bottle service) and lots of fun hats, necklaces, noise makers, etc. for the taking. The bar featured five signature cocktails, plus you could order simple mixed drinks. I was a little let down that I couldn't get a Cosmo for what I paid for this ticket, but I got over it. The outdoor roof was open for those who wanted to venture out, and though you can't see the ball or fireworks from here it was still fun to cheer on an NYC rooftop at the stroke of midnight. They had two floors open with different music (top was more top 40s with some house mixed in, bottom was more throwbacks), so it was cool to have different vibe options. A nice way to finish the night since I needed something lighter than all the dark I had earlier. I believe the jamesons were with ginger, but I'm not 100% sure. I liked the music that night. It was your typical top 40 and hip hop. We danced like we were youngins. It wasn't very crowded or busy, so we were able to take over an area by the bar and just have fun. Well it only took me 10+ years to finally make it here. I love rooftop bars, but now in my 30s, not so much the nightlife scene, so I made my appearance on a Sunday evening for a friend's birthday. No one parties on a Sunday, so this was perfect in terms of not being crowded and not putting up with snobby college kids. Drinks are overpriced as expected, but the sunset views you get from here (if the weather cooperates) is phenomenal. The space itself is nice, both indoors and outdoors. read more

I visited Mr. Purple this past Thursday night and was really disappointed with the service I received from one of the bartenders. He was a white male, skinny, wearing glasses. Earlier in the night I had already spent around $100 at the bar, so when I came back up later and simply asked for a glass of water, I was surprised when he rudely told me to move from the bar. I didn't mind moving, but his tone and attitude were unnecessary. A bit later, I came back to order another drink and he completely ignored me and wouldn't serve me at all, even while serving people right next to me. The rooftop itself is nice and the overall vibe of the place is good, but this bartender's behavior really gave me a bad experience with the establishment. I hope management addresses this, because no guest should feel disrespected or ignored after choosing to spend their money there. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon. The 15th floor rooftop has indoor and outdoor seating with lovely views of the NYC skyline. Quite a few of the tables were reserved, but we were able to find a comfy couch inside to sit without a reservation. The music was loud and dancey, both inside and outside. You could still have a conversation but definitely needed to raise your voice. Cocktails were $20. I had the Who's That Ginger. It was light and fresh. The drink itself did not have a lot of ginger flavor, but the candied ginger garnish was delicious. The crowd was on the younger side and it was a little bit of a "scene," but definitely fun for an afternoon. I imagine they are more strict with reservations and dress code in the evening. read more

Came here for sunset on a Sunday afternoon and my $20 drink got me the best views of the city. We had a large party and no reservations but we were able to quickly get in without a problem. The rooftop was pretty packed even though the weather is still kind of chilly. It didn't really matter since anywhere you walk and move to you have access to the gorgeous city views without it being extremely overcrowded. There are no reservations for the rooftop seating by the pool (at the moment) so it's a first come first serve type of thing which makes it even better. You can sit or not sit go inside hang out take pics, whatever you want. They have great music with great vibes and almost the same energy you get from going into a lounge in Miami. Loved the mix of the two worlds in one spot. In March the only bar available was indoors and the wait for your drink wasn't too bad. I ordered the Some Like It Hot and hubby got the Who's That Ginger (waaaaay too sweet) and we got to enjoy the most gorgeous sunset at one of the most popular rooftops. The drinks weren't the most memorable but to be honest the view and spot is what truly makes this place. I wouldn't necessarily come here to eat or order a bunch of drinks but I'd either make it my first stop before dinner or the last stop of the night. Right after sunset, lights go low and music gets louder so honestly coming here for sunset was truly the vibe. read more

The ambiance here is really nice because of the views but it got pretty crowded when we were there. Views here are great, but come early if you want a spot on the main side of the rooftop that faces the empire state building.
