I am a homeowner under this management company. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this company and how it operates is beyond unprofessional. I understand you may not agree with what I may experience, but as a vice president you are dealing in customer service where you should be listening, empathetic , and not biased. Our organization was begun in the mid-1960s. We have been served by a number of management companies since the beginning and our best one in MY experience was Jones & Forrest, a small-but-dedicated outfit. When they retired, they connected us with CIMS. As a large association (over 850 single-family, low-density suburban group) we are somewhat unusual, with dues due annually and primarily landscaping, graffiti abatement, and trash disposal as our tasks. If I could give Common Interest half a star, I would. We have a father/daughter duo on the HOA board that are not residents but own blocks of units on the property. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Any suggestions made by homeowners to improve the community typically gets shut down by the father, and the daughter will back him on any decision he makes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have tenants that break the bi-law rules and no action is taken because they intercept any complaints they receive and will not vote in favor of the property management company to take any action. [[HIGHLIGHT]]CI does not listen to its owners and allow this one board member to have his way everytime.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In conversation with other owners, the consensus seems to be that we feel discriminated against because we don't own a bunch of properties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone can agree that we are not heard on any matter and because most of us do not have deep pockets like the gentleman on the board (alongside his daughter) we are not treated with the same level of respect that is extended to him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]During an HOA meeting in which several homeowners requested to remove these individuals from the board, instead of hearing us out, the facilitator of the meeting from CI placed everyone on mute, but still allowed this person to sling insults at one of the homeowners, uninterrupted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fact that you have 2 people on the HOA board that do not live on the property, have no clue what our day to day in this community is like, and are only concerned with what benefits them, creates an extreme conflict of interest. I was informed that this particular board member has submitted hand written receipts using the HOA funds to complete repairs for units they own, yet this unethical behavior has been allowed and no action has been taken to remove this individual from the board. These biased and unfair actions should not be tolerated, but Common Interest has not made any efforts to reform or restructure the board. It is discouraging as a homeowner to not feel supported in any way and receive sub-par service from a company that you are paying fees to every month. If I could do it all over again, and would have known then what I know now? I would have NEVER committed myself to owning a place with an HOA, much less have any dealings with Common Interest as the property management company. We have an 80 unit industrial complex in Hayward. We recently hired CIM with Tracie Sweetman as the assigned manager. By far and away the most offensive and unprofessional case of discrimination and threats I have received from Melody Murray with her false accusations of me wilfully breaking and ignoring rules along with the harmful and offensive language used by , Melody Murray regarding my disability in a number of emails to not only my husband but also my landlord is not only discriminatory, but also shameful. I recently just reported both the individual and "CIMS Brentwood" to the Department of Justice, on a number of violations of the American Disability Act via the DOJ department of community and fair housing division. It has been nothing but derisive language along with threats and intimidation with this person . Which has diminished my quality of life here considerably, Also being an immigrant, I feel I have no rights because of the treatment I have been given by Melody Murray. I have sent all of the email thread along to the Disability Civil Rights Commission of California, and highlighted the offensive verbiage used to describe me and my service animals in them. I offered my official diagnosis letters from my physicians as proof of my disability , I was told , "no need for them", however, they still, IN WRITING AND IN CAPS used words like "reportedly has a medical condition" and " Free for all " All the while threatening my landlord. [[HIGHLIGHT]]UPDATE: CIMS Team, did not respond to me reaching out to them, as they had asked, I reached out by both, email and phone. I was ignored! Nothing but silence.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So they don't want to learn or get better. Which then leaves the likes of Melody Murray and Jazmin Bucio who seem to want to be in breach of the ADA and pressure landlords into bullying their tenants, CIMS is going to have to answer to why they let a disabled woman have a seizure in the swimming pool while ordering her medical rescue dog be tethered and unable to intervene. When police attended, they stated that my Medical service dog has to be allowed to do the job he's trained to. But on this day he couldn't because of Melody Murray, and their threats to ban me from the swimming pool as well as heavily fine my landlord to which she suggested in an email to my landlord that they pass on to me. read more
