The freshness and texture of the ice cream, it was smooth and the added texture of the mix in was so good, the perfect scoop and it gave it a nice flavor as well. After viewing their socials, we decided that it was a good place to enjoy a cool treat on a hot day. They didn't disappoint. First, it's gelato, which is a bit different. My nephew wasn't enthused. He really wanted another type of icee. Me and my sister instead got a cone with cookies and cream, and i opted for the double chocolate and vanilla. The flavors were amazing! It was so rich and it didn't melt right away which was cool. The chocolate tasted just like a brownie. It was perfect, and the vanilla was a nice way to offset all that chocolate. The small cup comes with 2 scoops i believe. My sister enjoyed her cone as well. I will return to this spot. I enjoyed it. The service was cool. They allow up to 2 samples of their flavors per person and when we arrived on a Friday night around 8pm with our toddler, there was a line wrapped around the corner. I went to the park with our little one while my husband waited on the line. The gelato is creamy and delicious and the fruit flavors are bold and refreshing! We got the Pistachio as well as the mango, blueberry and strawberry flavors. The child cup is 6.50 with 1 flavor, the regular size with up to 2 flavors is $8, the 3 flavor cup is 9 and I think I stopped looking lol but a pint is $14. The prices you see are also inclusive of tax - European style, which we appreciated. It is a bit pricey for what look like teeny cups, but the ingredients are organic where they can be and it has all been consistently delicious. They also pack the cups pretty well. The pistachio on top was good with some pieces inside for a bit of crunch, though I would say in terms of other fancy gelatos, it's a bit worse than Venchi, as the pistachio flavor isn't as strong. The saffron was the better of the two, being floral enough without being overbearing. Not much else to say here, as I only had those flavors, but I hope they do well.

They also sell giant chocolate chip cookies the size of your face- cool for the wow factor, and it's a 3.5/5 for flavor and texture- I wouldn't get again. The "raisin croissant" was a letdown. It's really more like soft swirled bread than an actual croissant, so adjust expectations accordingly. They also have a raspberry-filled croissant if you like filled breads. The box was large enough, and they line the bag with a thin piece of cardboard to stabilize the box. I'm not a big sweets person, but I enjoyed the chocolate-y richness of the cake. Now they are using what I call, fake jam, it's like a thick paste with no seeds. I hope Monteleone will stop cutting corners and go back to using quality ingredients. For now, Cousin John's in Park Slope is one of the last bakeries that does not compromise on their quality, they are always consistent. Monteleone needs to follow that formula, people notice when things change.
