I have been a LOYAL customer of Comm VW SERVICE for a couple decades+ because I have generally had an overall positive (although somewhat expensive!) experience. Today I had my annual vehicle inspection performed. I felt like I was shook down. I was told "all was ok with my vehicle"* besides the need to replace the front wipers; otherwise, my vehicle would FAIL inspection due to a TINY oh so small streak on the windshield when the wipers & spray were operated. Absurd is a good word to describe the situation. The wipers were FINE--I'm a freak about having a clean windshield and I do periodically replace the wipers AS NEEDED. Moral of the story: Check your wipers and clean them if necessary before having your vehicle inspected at Comm VW. I travel by Colonial VW in Medford during my commute and I'm thinking they may receive a visit from me for my soon approaching 130K service. (So much for MY loyalty!!). *I was told "all was ok" with my vehicle BEFORE it was driven away to be inspected--WTF? It appears an onsite "replacement parts" inspection was done first and that's when my wipers failed, but why was I told "all was ok" BEFORE my vehicle was inspected? P.S. Where do start. I recently tried to buy an oil filter at the parts counter. The parts guy tells me it's $17 and I say that's too much and payed less than half that 6 months ago. I started to walk away. He says that's what it lists for but will sell it to me for $9.50 and the last guy must have given me a "discount" . Later I checked a Honda website and the MSRP is $9.36 for Part Number: 15400-PLM-A02. Evidently "list price" to Commonwealth means double the MSRP. Same car 2006 CRV over 16 years ago I brought it be serviced for oil and a brake fluid change. They charged me for both but did neither. I could tell the brake fluid was not changed because the bleeder caps were untouched. When I complained, the service advisor told me the $100+ "replacement" was only to replace what was in the master cylinder. Funny thing was when I dropped off the car I asked a different advisor if the flush was for the entire system and he said yes. I checked the motor oil after a 3 mile drive home and it was jet black. Commonwealth Motors sold me a car in December of 2023. I was promised a windshield replacement, a touch-up paint on the hood, along with replacement vehicle while it was being fixed. Soon after I discovered several issues with the car. The headlights severely condensate, the driver's side door leaks, and the inside driver side I have had to use an ice scraper the windshield wipers stop out of the blue, and the passenger side wiper is broken. The temperature showed 95 while is was under 20 degrees. The rotors are beat up, and to date, I have not received my warranty information, despite my multiple requests. I have not received the complete car fax report. It was sold to me for 4K over book value. Today is January 30 2024 and I still have NO inspection sticker. I was steered into purchasing this vehicle, and will be filing a report with the FTC, and Massachusetts Attorney General. read more

My complaint is w/Chevy service & how the managers/owners chose to handle the situation. 6/25/24 my truck brought in for service on my tire. I paid a small fee & told tire was fixed however the following day was losing tire pressure again. This time brought it to a small local place & they found a gigantic nail in the same tire Commonwealth claims they fixed. Obviously lied & had no problem stealing my money. After the visit w/them my husband was told we have been on a do not service list since Nov 2023. I'm the owner of the truck & was NEVER notified of this list. I called the service mgr to question why I wasn't told about this list & why has the Chevy service department taken my vehicle for multiple service/repairs since being placed on this "list" Of course there was NO explanation. I paid over $4000 to have the extended warranty & now being told "oh well" & I can't take my truck to a different dealership. I sent emails to the owners, & I was wished good luck in the future. No empathy, no assurance of help and certainly no resolution. I went into the dealership & explained my situation to one of the mgr's. He claimed he understood & would be upset as well. He assured me he would look into it. Well that was almost 2 mo. ago. Funny during the meeting he told me I'm not the first to complain & have issues w/ their chevy service dept. They are known to be rude and aggressive. Seriously! I have been a loyal car since 08. the reason I am on a list was due to an issue my husband had back in Nov 2023 w/ staff due to their terrible customer service, lack of empathy, no assurance of help, and being rude & dismissive. the car I bought is a Greta but the finance department did 4 hard inquiries into my credit score for the 1 deal. completely ruined my credit score to the point I can't buy a house anymore. there was no communication just fired through 4 hard credit inquiries and didnt tell me. What a nightmare! Worst experience ever! It's bad enough that you have to deal with all the other stuff that has to do with the accident. But thinking it's a dealership body shop it's in good hands, was I terribly mistaken. The quality of the work was unacceptable, there was a paint drip, the taping and masking was not on a professional level, they didn't fill some of the light scratches and it shows in the paint finish. They nicked the paint and tried to cover it up and then tried to tell the insurance that it was like that, then they said they would take care of us and fixed the drip and paint chip but then messed something else up. They literally took a paint brush and did a couple passes on the body line hoping we wouldn't notice which is impossible because it's bumpy and sticks out like a sore thumb. Worst part is that area had nothing to do with the accident. We have been told at least 3 times that the vehicle is ready for pick up and we have had to turn it down every time. First time the paint didn't match, second time they said they buffed the new paint and it is the best match that's when I pointed out the nick probably occurred when they buffed it and the paint drip, third time they fixed the nick and paint drip but the paint strokes is a new issue. But the major issue of the paint not matching is still not fixed. The vehicle is a white pearl which I have had in the past. My last vehicle was a 2017 Honda crv in the same white pearl and it was involved in 2 separate accidents both times I brought it to Lannan Chevy and they took care of us. First time was the hood and it matched. Second time was the passenger fender and font bumper and it didn't match they reshot the pearl and it matched. I have taken those experiences and asked commonwealth body shop to try and shoot a coat of pearl or blend the area but I have been redirected to my insurance and how my insurance is only paying $45/hr not $100+/hr so this is the best work we will get. I am being told the plastic rear bumper will never match the metal quarter panel and lift gate as it is a different material. Be that as it may, but the difference is too obvious and that has not been addressed. I have been left with no choice but to do research and ask body shop if they are willing to try buffing surrounding areas to see if the transition is better. They have also told my insurance not to do the supplement to blend the joining areas as they are afraid they will be chasing the problem until they paint the full vehicle. Let me be clear I do not want a full paint job, I just want my vehicle to come out of the body shop looking like there was no accident that is the whole point of bringing it to the body shop. Mind you it wasn't like the car was in a major accident it was 2 panels that were scratched. read more

This by far is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. We purchased our 2014 Dodge Dart vehicle on January 28. It went quick and they joked about how capital one tried to deny the loan after approving it and they said we already had the vehicle in our possession (which we did not). Fast forward to a week later...my hot temp light came on. They took it right in and said they had to burp and bleed it (see photos). I picked it up and they told me it is fine now. Car smelled like maple syrup and I called. They told me it was the residual coolant that might have splashed out. This time around I dealt with Heather. Fast forward another week and the hot temp came on again accompanied by the check engine light. They took it in and gave me a rental. They did not update me on the status so I had to call back a couple days later and told me it is fine it had another bubble and needed to be burped and bled again. They kept it running overnight and it seems fine, they also drove it. I dealt with Josh at this point. I returned the rental and picked up my car. Fast forward another week later and it came on again. At this point I'm furious because it keeps happening and not being fixed. They took it in and gave me another rental. I never heard from them had the rental for about a week. I called them back and they said that they sent the car over to Dodge because they were not sure what to do. Mind you my car is registered at this point but I can't get it to be inspected because it won't pass. Dodge sent my car back to them they never contacted me to let me know I had to contact them again. They said that they cleaned some components and they had to replace a hose and everything should be in working order. In the meantime my boyfriend puts up a yelp review and the service manager George calls my phone and leaves me a nasty voicemail stating he does not appreciate the review and to return the car rental immediately and they will no longer service my car. First of all we have an extended warranty that we pay for and this issue has been happening a week into owning the car so therefore in the state of mass it falls on them. I pick up the car I get to my office and noticed that my right blinker is out which it was not prior to me dropping it off and they refused to fix it. They also claim they did a multi point inspection before the vehicle leaving and when I brought this up to Josh he said well we checked it when we sent it over to dodge we didn't check it when it came back. Fast forward again to not even a week later and the template is on my coolant was ranging from 240-275 and then check engine came on coolant went to -40, no heat, car making sounds! I contacted them got hung up on by a manager named Carlos. Then finally got in touch with our sales guy and he said he would take care of that he contacted Dodge but they were not going to give me a rental at this time until they know what's wrong with the car. I explained you guys know what the issue is and you sold me a lemon. At this point I requested my Down payment, registration fees and any other fees that we accrued since they sold us the car. I explained they had the vehicle more than me and they have had three chances to fix the issue (according to the law). We have been Trying to request start money back which we are well within the law. We are even sending Facebook messages to our sales guy who told us to do that and he won't respond I have left messages for the president he has not called back. My boyfriend and I just called them and a manager named Carlos got on the phone and asked us how many times are you going to keep doing this. He accused us of being negligent with the car which I don't understand how that can be possible when they've had the car more than we have had since we bought it. We now have a $13,000 loan that we are responsible for and the car hasn't been in working condition since we purchased it. I made a comment and the manager Carlos told my boyfriend to tell me to shut the hell up. If I was the president or an owner of a company I would be mortified that my employees speak to customers that way or that they are screwing people over by selling vehicles that are unsafe unexpectable and undrivable. Shame on you commonwealth motors, shame on you. Buyers beware! Update****just found out they sold us a car they KNEW had previous issues! I sent over the paperwork to Mike two days ago. Mike just as I was speaking with him decided to send this erroneous message that he's waiting for paperwork that he already has! Mike decided that the dealership won't acknowledge the fact that the parts manager touched the car and should not have touched the car. The parts manager messed around with the fuses and as indicated in the previous response form the "Parts Guy" he admits he dropped fuses and that the radio was not working after they were touched. He admits it! Thus why would he not admit that it is very interesting that the horn did not work after he touched it! The fuses to the horn were blown and other work was done. I can acknowledge that perhaps some of the work done on the horn was not related. However there was half of the problem at least was because the horn fuses were blown and messed around with! As we learn in elementary school -- take responsibility for your actions. It is a value that is learned in childhood that Mike and Commonwealth clearly has lost this important value. The dealership ie parts guy touched my car, admits to playing around with the fuses, and admits that the radio was not work and that the he dropped fuses. I tried to call Commonwealth and left voice mail messages for the general manager, service manager, sales manager, business office, and told those who are operators who important it is that I speak with someone. Perhaps the operator should have taken my seriously! This is why I did not bring the car to Commonwealth. I would not drive on 495 North before Thanksgiving without a horn. And if no one is going to get back with me I was forced to go to a local mechanic. I expect Commonwealth to take responsibility for their actions. I called VW Customer Care for help and they were very nice on the phone and did their best. Certainly this dealership does not care about complaints from customers even when they complain to Customer Care. Instead they just want to try to send messages on the BBB that they don't have paperwork that they do have days a go! I also requested a meeting with the General Manager from Commonwealth Motors. I am requesting a meeting in person with the General Manager and owner to discuss this and to request that the parts manager agree to taking full responsibility that he should not have touched the fuses. I expect an formal written apology, and I expect some compensation for the headache, nightmare, bad customer service, not getting back with me to the point that I had to go to VW Customer Care and BBB for a response. When I got a call finally from Mike the service manager (although expected a call from the General Manager to make an in person meeting) he was upset that I had called the BBB and VW Customer Care and made an excuse that he never hear of this before! That is not true--- listen to your voice mails. Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process. read more

This was a 6 star operation where the staff there make your experience more of an ease to mind experience. Most know that the car buying/leasing task can be can a crap shoot...one does not know what they may be getting. My experience with Commonwealth was a worthwhile endeavor. It was greatly enhanced by my interaction with Khasin and Benny...one of the managers....which was more than I expected. These guys understand their customer and steer them clear of any obstacles...whether buying or leasing. I would highly recommend Commonwealth should you desire a bump free experience. Ask for Khasin or Benny...but am sure anyone will make your travel there worthwhile. read more

I made an appointment to have my car serviced for Friday at 1pm at CM Lawrence . They said that they need it another day without even looking at my Vehicle. I said call me and let me know. No calls from CM. The next day I waited to receive a call and let me know when my car would be ready. Still no call. I decided to call them and to my surprise nothing was being worked on. They said they wouldn't be able to look at until Monday. I said I can't leave it due to work. I wanted to reschedule for the coming Friday and was told they're book solid until. I even took a Friday off of work for this. I was told they tried calling me and they said they had the wrong number. I asked for the number they dialed and it was the correct number. Getting the run around and no apology for not following through with my original scheduled appointment. No care how inconvenient it is to the customer. My son just got out of the service and wanted to buy a new Chevy truck. We visited Commonwealth and made a deal pretty quick with the sales lady. Returned a few days later with the deposit and final payment and was notified that the truck will be ready in a day or two. Went to pick up the truck and all the paperwork on their end was not complete. We were told multiple times that the truck would be ready the following day. This went on for close to a wk. When we did finally get to pick up the truck the sales lady had attitude when handing my son the keys and paperwork. When we purchased our car, Commonwealth charged us a documentation fee of nearly $400 but got the details of the title wrong. They told us that it would be a lengthy process to get it corrected since the title had already been issued. Although they agreed to help us correct it and promised to be on top of it, after months and months of chasing them, they stopped responding to emails entirely. Now it's my problem to fix. why I will never recommend Commonwealth Motors to any of my friends or family. This is my second letter to Commonwealth Motors regarding their service issues.... For the Same Vehicle. Holy Ridiculousness. Right after my purchase of the Rav4, I noted that the USB port and power outlet next to it were not working properly. I could plug in my phone, it would show the little lightning bolt as if it were charging.... but instead, it was losing power. I was doing a lot of travelling back and forth to visit a family member in the hospital, and pick up other family members to bring them to visit her as well.... I was essentially the family taxi. I mentioned the problem to Matt and he said he would meet me at the dealership to see if the problem could be taken care of. I brought the Rav4 in. Matt met me despite being sick and should have stayed home but he came in because he promised he would. Super nice guy. I knew it was something simple... probably just a loose connection. So Matt takes the car to the mechanics.... Comes to me in the waiting room less than 5 minutes later stating that the mechanic plugged in his phone "its working". I go through the whole thing again.... I've tried new wires, new devices, new everything.... its not my phone, its not my wires, its not my devices.... its the port in the car. I'm pretty sure the fuse is dying or on its way out... or maybe its a loose connection. Nope... they looked at me like i was a moron.... wouldn't even LOOK at the car.... told me they don't service Toyota. I need to go elsewhere. Even though I just purchased it at your facility... nope... they wouldn't even peek at it. I was obviously insane. I think Matt was having a coronary. He was there the whole time. He apologized profusely. I went to a friend who is a mechanic. It was a loose connection. No big deal. Everything is working fine now. Seriously. They talked to me like I was an idiot. If they rolled their eyes any further back in their heads they could watch what was left of their brains die. I wasn't alone however.... I watched them mock Matt as well. I realize they are older guys.... but Respect Goes Both Ways. Matt just came back from the Army. He did his time. He deserves respect just as much as anyone else. But I digress.... Not a Toyota thing. Not a BRAND issue. Good lord. Its a car. If they are that afraid of opening a hood, they shouldn't be in that line of work. So in the grand scheme of things..... the ONLY bright shining light you have going for you is Matt Sullivan. Unfortunately he isn't enough to get me to come back because the rest of the "team" (i use that term lightly) is horrible. There is absolutely no respect for each other. No discipline. No team work. The lack of communication is deplorable..... I watched guys throw plates at each other while blurting out instructions as they walked away.... that's not ok.... that's how mistakes are made. From Customer Service Representatives that full on ignore customers or walk away when they hear a hint of a problem........... to Mechanics that cant bother to look under the hood of a car because they "don't do that". Went in looking for a car but unfortunately it was sold the day prior. Met Mr Peterson and was pleased with the help he provided making the overall car buying experience very easy. He was great to work with an understood what I came in to see told me it was sold but offered to show me something that was just as good and he was right. I rolled out of there with a 2016 Toyota Camry and am very happy with it just under a week later. Went back yesterday to get an inspection sticker and was in and out within 30 minutes. I had heard good things about commonwealth so thought I would give it a shot. I found a car I loved and went for it. Everything after that was awful. When I first arrived I didn't know there were separate dealers so I ended up in Nissan but didn't see anything I liked so I wanted to try chevrolet... the same sales person, Anthony, stayed with me. That was my first mistake. There was zero communication between the two departments so everytime I had to call (which turned out was alot) I had to have the same conversations. When it came to financing Anthony told me they could match what my bank was offering so I agreed to go with them. It was in the evening so he said the finance manager would call me the next morning. I waited and waited and hadn't heard from anyone. So close to 2:00 I called them. I was practically laughed at on the phone, they said what I wanted for financing didn't exist and they didn't know why Anthony would say they would match it. So now ni wasted my whole day waiting for them when I could have gone to my bank and took care of it. So I did go to my bank and it was settled. Now they didn't have the title so I had to wait for that. And in between when I had to call I had to tell a different person the same thing over and over. Finally Anthony agreed to deliver my car to me since I had made 4 trips to Lawrence at this point. He said he would get a sticker in the morning and deliver it. He did and for a month it was great. Then the drivers side window would not work and the check engine light came on. So back to chevy I went. They fixed it (although they tried to tell me the window wouldn't be covered but that quickly got resolved). Now a month later I happened to look at the window and realized there was no sticker on my car that I was promised. So now I have to pay for one which should have been done by Anthony as promised. So all in all I am pretty disappointed in the service I received from commonwealth. read more

This dealership does not honor its online pricing. They have vehicle listed for certain prices to get you to come look at the vehicle and once they run your credit and waste your time they say someone made a mistake and they jack the prices up!! What a joke. read more

For a young person, I was impressed by all of her impressive knowledge regarding this whole process -- I was overwhelmed, but she made it seem so easy. My family had a complicated credit situation and she was able to make it work in a timely and professional manner. She was quick on her feet, willing, patient, and kind.
