The receptionist is awesome but the technician that supposed to help seems to be a procrastinator. She didn't adjust my airpressure at all, kept saying she did but now being pregnant and it hurts to be treated this way. My baby and I not getting the oxygen we needed. Recently had my 2nd overnight sleep study. Both times I found the facility to be clean, the staff were all great.

I waited to post this review to see if something might change but it didn't. I am exhausted from lack of sleep. I have used CSC for year but only because they send my supplies and I was pretty used to their mediocre service but didn't have to deal with them often. Then my years-old CPAP broke. Keep in mind when you have an appointment they critique your use of the machine and will admonish you for a 94% useage rate. I called on the 7th of Aug to report the broken machine and it is now the 12th of Sep with no machine in sight. How can they justify their statements that use of a machine is critical for a healthy lifestyle yet drag their feet when replacing that machine? The team didn't know the process for requesting new equipment, I didn't get returned calls, I received promise after promise with no follow through. I would never recommend this clinic and plan to move to iNoVA when/if my new machine ever arrives. read more

Do not waste your time here. I experienced billing mistakes with extra charges, automated appointment scheduling which was impossible to change, incompetent technicians, and a complete failure to receive care. After starting the sleep study process, 11 months have passed without getting a CPAP machine, despite being told "it's on the way & you're at the top of the list". It is nearly impossible to reach a human to speak with and they do not answer emails, even when you use the app they require you to use, so it was quite difficult to resolve their billing mistakes and to change appointments. The actual sleep study was performed by technicians who were disgruntled employees and obviously did not care to help the patient with concerns. An example of their chaotic system is that an automated follow up appointment (to see how my CPAP machine works for me) was set up when I still had never received the machine. Additionally, things like common courtesy, parking, & clearly marked location are disregarded. The employees are clearly not happy and take it out on patients, like when you go through the wrong door or cannot find the office. Parking is a nightmare and the building (Alexandria location) is not marked or lit well. The actual sleep study was so unpleasant. The room was dirty. I was told I would have a female technician, but a man came into my room without knocking and changed my mask without any explanation. He spoke little English when I asked what he was doing. He just kept saying "no problem. No problem." Next, a woman came into my room and harshly told me to stop breaking the seal on my mask. What? I had no idea what was happening. This is medical care?? I had no confidence that anything was being done properly. I reported their negligence to my insurance company and have received proper care elsewhere. read more

***BEWARE*** I was just contacted by Commonwealth Sleep Center (CSC) for a service that they claim was provided in June of 2023 (13 months ago). The rep. said I have a balance of $272.68 from June 2023 and they are getting denied claims from one of my two insurance companies. If a patient has two insurance companies, WHY wouldn't the practice resubmit to the other company if there is a problem...? (Yes, I handled the coordination of benefits YEARS ago when I got the second insurance...but that's beside the point). I was told I have a zero balance in June of 2024. At that time, I asked them to note in my record I am no longer a patient of this practice and that I have no balance. They agreed to that. I did not know then I was speaking with a third party biller, NOT CSC. CSC's billing department is different from the third party biller. To add to this, they sell their bills to a collection agency called Kansas Counselors, Inc. (KCI). My husband just received a notice from KCI that he owes $200. We are NEVER late on bills and neither he nor I was ever told he had a balance of $200 or that anything was going to collection. We are no longer patients of this practice - and they have already received THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from our insurance companies for poor service. Based on these other reviews, I realize my husband and I are not the only victims...please do yourself a service and find a reputable practice. Now I get to spend HOURS via phone and email trying to untangle from this unreputable practice. Yay. read more

Take detailed notes of any meetings with providers. One provider told me I needed a CPAP to treat my sleep disorder and that they would call back in 5 days to schedule a fitting and testing of the machine. A month passed with no word, so I called and spoke to another provider. The new provider stated the original provider's notes stated that I did not require a CPAP and said nothing about a fitting. Really frustrating when you're getting conflicting stories from the individuals you are supposed to trust. read more

I would not recommend this center to anyone! They don't provide solutions and it's a waste of time and money. I've visited the Commonwealth Sleep Center four times since November 2019. During which time, I've never met the doctor! First, let me share, I've had trouble sleeping for the last few years and my nurse practitioner referred me to here. Honestly, I was a little weary after reading the negative reviews, but I pushed through as maintaining sleep is an ongoing concern. I've been hoping that with scheduling an appointment, I would be a step closer to relief! Nope! So, I schedule my first appointment on Monday, November 25th, 2019. Prior to the appointment, the scheduling office advised to complete the medical forms and an extensive sleep quality questionnaire. I arrived on my first day prepared. PARKING: I did see a previous review about parking, so I got there early for my 1st visit and found a spot on the street level. My other appointments I had to park in the garage. The parking is limited on the first floor. You will have to go to the underground garage and park. Then you can get on elevators to the office. LOCATION: The Sleep Center is in the Alexandria Professional Building. The medical building is next to the plaza that contains a CVS and Aldi. The sleep center is located on the 9th floor. However, the office appointments are held in a door called "Beaugard Medical" Which is very confusing folks... First appointment: It's a typical specialist visit. The medical assistants take my weight, blood pressure, and my temps. Then, Nurse practitioner, Mira Prasai and I went over a sleep study quality questionnaire and my family history. It was clear to both of us that much of my sleep issues have a lot to do with past trauma which has resulted in insomnia. She asked me if I've tried sleeping pills, therapy and meditation. Um ... of course, that's why I'm here!!! Essentially, I was told to see a psychiatrist, consider getting a roommate, or getting a pet. All things, I've considered. So, it's like preaching to the choir! When I asked for therapist suggestions, she gave none. You would think they would have a list or preferred providers if they are making recommendations. I was told to go to YouTube and watch videos by Louise Hay. I left feeling defeated. Yet, I was hopeful my insurance would approve the sleep study. A week later, center called me to inform me my insurance approved the sleep study. However, it would be an in-home sleep study. Alright .... So, I had to schedule an appointment to pick up the sleep study equipment on Monday, December 16th. 2nd appointment: I show up at 130pm and I wasn't seen until after 150pm. So, I'm thinking what's the point of having an appointment. During this appointment, a gentleman explains to me how to use the sleep study monitor. He went over the instructions very fast. I left feeling confused again. Sleep study process: I get the machine home and did everything that was instructed. Unfortunately, I woke up in the middle of the night and the nose piece was no longer in my nose and the finger clip wasn't on my finger. The next day , December 17th, I go back to the office to turn in the machine. I was never asked how it went or any challenges I had with the sleep study. I left hoping for the best. A few days later, I get a call from the sleep center to inform me they wanted to go over the sleep study results in person. So, I scheduled the appointment for December 23rd anticipating a treatment plan or closer to a solution to help me sleep. I went in and the medical assistant took my weight, blood pressure was temperature. Again ??? I was here less than a month ago and the appointment is about the sleep study results. Odd...Next, The nurse practitioner who I met with on my first visit (Mira Prasai) basically states the home sleep study was inconclusive and recommended an in-lab sleep study. She also advises me she needs to check with my insurance for approval. So, I'm pissed .... Isn't that something , they could of said over the phone when they called?? Why make me take off from work just to tell me they had no data? Also, if they wanted to move forward with the in-home sleep study, shouldn't they have contacted my insurance prior to my appointment. Again, the nurse practitioner asks me if I've tried other methods to sleep. Which is odd because we had this SAME conversation during my initial visit. As I'm checking out, the front desk representative has the audacity to attempt to collect a $50 copayment from me?? For what? This is to go over the results which were none and it's an appointment the Sleep Center requested. So, now I'm angry. This appointment wasted my sick leave at work and now they trying to get more money out of me. Lastly, when you think of a Sleep Center, you would think it would be a calm, peaceful , and serene place. Nope, It's basically a crammed doctor office. I did an in home sleep study and an in office overnight sleep study. The evening Technicians were exceptional. My Technician George took his time explaining everything to me and made me feel safe. I did 2 sleep studies with Commonweath back in early June, 2022. At this time I was prescribed a CPAP machine. My quality of sleep is extremely poor and a CPAP would greatly improve me quality of life as a whole. I was told my CPAP will arrive in 3 months. It has now been almost 6 months and I have reached out multiple times with no feedback. I believe this establishment is a scam and is just here to get money. They will not send you a CPAP and they will not reach out to you with any updates. I highly recommend working with a different company if you actually want to get help. read more

This is a criminal enterprise, the treatment is useless and is only being performed to charge my insurance company over $1500 a month as well as make me fork over a copay. Even after I ended my treatment, they are still billing me. They don't pickup phone calls and I am now trying to fight them with my insurance company, stay away from this fraudulent business. read more

I was warned by the Fort Belvoir Hospital Sleep Clinic that they have had problems with Commonwealth and have been recommending that Tricare remove them for treatment of Veterans. I needed two questions answered and he wouldn't answer them until I had see him 2 more times he said "I need to make sure the treatment is working". I've had a CPAP since 2014 and had expressed to him that I need the letter for overseas work because I am a contractor with DOS. Thankfully the DVA answered the questions: "To whom it may concern Mr. Burnell Nelson (DOB 9/9/67) is effectively treating his obstructive sleep apnea with maintaining healthy weight and wearing CPAP nightly. No significant symptoms (excessive daytime somnolence or short term memory loss) with current treatment. Vet is able to safely perform tasks of CCR Tech Il essential job duties." DR. Sanjeev Kohli, kept insisting that he needed the chip from my CPAP and my question was "will the information on the chip tell you if I have excessive daytime somnolence or short term memory loss?" the answer is NO. I have never been over weight, never smoke, served 22 years in the Army and am still in pretty good physical shape with a 33" waist at 5'11". Please remove me as a patient. read more

Extremely poor customer service, inflated billing for items, and it appears to be a piecemealed business. I have never received a return phone call after leaving several messages, my invoice was highly inaccurate and there is no consideration for issue resolution. I had a terrible experience overall with this place. I went in for a sleep study and was told I would just be monitored all night. The technician who was the only person there when I arrived barely spoke English and I had no understanding of what was happening. After sleeping for an hour or two I was woken in the middle of the night as the technician decided on his own to change my study to an experiment as he strapped a mask over my face that I had no idea how to operate and it was like being murdered because I couldn't breathe. I had endless nightmares and kept waking up tearing at the mask that was strapped over my nose and mouth. The technician had promised to let me sleep until 7am but woke me up around 5am and said the study is over go home. A few days later I learned that the data they collected that night was pretty much useless because the technician aborted the "study" part too early. Over the following months there were numerous billing problems. They apparently billed my insurance company improperly and then tried to collect from me what they couldn't collect from my insurance company. When I eventually saw the doctor he acted surprised that anything had gone wrong but did not offer to re-do the sleep study properly. I have since heard from other people in my social circle that they also had a negative experience here. I will not be returning. read more

What a horror show this place is! Doctor gave referral and after filling out their novel of a questionnaire, I attempted to go to my appointment. The building has ZERO parking. It took 25 minutes to get in and up the elevator!!! Once there, there is a sign that says sleep study, I go in and sit down and after 15 min, I go find someone and they say I am in the wrong place, lol. Maybe someone should make that clear? Once I get there to checkin everyone looks exhausted from waiting. I cancelled my appointment. Nothing is worth that kind of torture. read more

I went to the sleep study and the mask they had was to small and they did 't have anything larger. I had mine and used it instead and then I was told I will get the machine. This was last Year and here it is March 2022 and still waiting. First they didn't have any and then when I asked in January 2022 they said they fell behind because of the Holidays. Total waste of time and it was the worse care and customer service. I thought Blue Point Medical was bad but compared to this sleep center it was like staying at the Ritz. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Very unhappy with this place. They did a sleep study and charge and charge and charge -- there is a charge to my insurance every month with copays. I don't know why since I did the sleep study many months ago. They set up appointments with the wrong people (the technician but not the mask-fitter) and then charged me for coming in. They gave me the wrong masks and charged me for every mask I tried. I trusted them and didn't think to keep a record of who I saw exactly when and what would be charged to me when I was told to "stop by for a new mask." Don't trust these people. Keep very good records. The doctor never met with me to explain my sleep study. The technician who saw me isn't the one who can help select masks. It is a very confusing place to deal with and now I am in the hole for lots of money and still never found the right setup. Nobody follows your case to its conclusion, so you are basically paying repeatedly for a product that doesn't work. And then you have to lose work time to hunt it all down. read more

Being a patient at this sleep center was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a Doctor's office. Some of the staff were polite and helpful, but that is the extent of my positive compliments. In the year that I was a patient there, I only saw the Doctor once. I completely trust physician assistants, but think I should have seen the Doctor more than at least once. Dealing with their billing and insurance folks was incredibly frustrating. I tried to be diligent and make sure that the billing and insurance reimbursement were always up to date. Every time I talked with them, I got a slightly different story. And even while I was in constant contact with them, they turned my account over to a collection agency without even letting me know in advance, and then would not return my calls. I finally had to send a "cease and desist" letter to the collection agency and then the Doctor, and also had to take other steps to order to get the matter resolved. Dealing with the whole situation was like having another full time job. It was one of the most stressful experiences I have ever gone through with a medical professional. I will advise anyone who asks to Never go to this center. read more
