I have taken my dog here for 9 years. While my unfortunately two of our vets have left over time, CVH has always had vets who are consistently kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. The staff makes you feel comfortable and like your pet is very important to them. We now see Dr Wolfe and adore her!!! Whenever you call, the receptionist/vet techs are extremely courteous and helpful! They have helped me determined whether or not they think I have needed to come in- and have saved me a lot of anxiety, time and money many times. Whenever I have had an emergency, they have been able to get my dog in- except for Sundays and nights, of course. I trust them with my dogs life and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a vet. read more

I brought my dogs there for 9 years, and the only reason I stopped was because I moved to southern NH. From the front staff to the Vets, it was always a positive and kind experience. They always were able to get my babies in when I needed. Most importantly I felt comfortable, and confident with the care my dogs received. Prices-all vets are expensive. BEWARE.. Our dog tested posted for lyme disease over the summer. Dr. Wolf told my family not to treat him (even though it turns out, he also had protein in his urine at the time). They shouldn't have listened to her - because he DIED from lyme nephritis 3 weeks ago - a deadly outcome of untreated lyme. He spent his last days alive in a kennel in the ICU trying to survive, but died at the hospital - not even able to make it home. Dogs who test positive for lyme deserve TREATMENT, especially, when there is protein the urine.. yet she still didn't treat him. Had he been given the standard of care that he deserved, this horrible tragedy could have been avoided. Our hearts are broken, and I can only hope no other dog is subjected to this negligence. I cannot say enough things about Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital. The care that my 11-month old yellow lab has received from Dr. Wissel is top notch. They welcomed my puppy with open arms when another local vet rudely turned us away. Commonwealth was kind and understanding that, regardless of the pandemic, my puppy needed her first check-up and vaccines. Dr. Wissel and all the staff have been so generous with their time in addressing any issues and answering all of my questions. We've had one emergency and they made availability to see her right away. She was just spayed and her surgery and recovery went well. There were no extra charges as others have alluded to. They don't charge extra for unnecessary procedures and are honest about your pet's health. I trust them completely with her life and can't imagine anyone better! read more

I called Comm Vet (CV) early Sat am because my poodle was drooling profusely from her mouth. Since my regular vet only works part-time in Newton, I quickly drove my dog to CV. The staff was very concerned about my dog's discomfort, too. The vet examined & xrayed her before telling me my dog had an infection in her uterus. The vet injected my dog with a non-narcotic pain-killer & told me i had to spay her soon. (My "girl" is a beautiful parti-poodle. I wanted to have one litter from her but I couldn't find a parti-poodle stud for her nearby). read more

Took both of my huskies to Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital. I looked the "other way" at the run down condition of the waiting and patient rooms. ie electrical outlet covers missing, baseboards missing. But after I had my dog(Penny) spade there, I'm very upset about the incision, it looks like a 5 year old did it. Plus, I had to ask for the "cone" that they weren't even going to give to me(that I paid for). To top it off, she was in heat 2 months ago. I don't see how she was still in heat and was charged for it. Just the overall atmosphere was not very well received. To say the least, I won't be back to this vet. I can not say enough good things about this team. I have a 10 month of Westie who has seen a vet in Texas where she was born. My first experience with Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital was in March 2020. As a first-time dog mom, I was so nervous for my Westie's spay. She was booked for the surgery during the COVID19 Pandemic at the end of March. During her pre-screening, Dr. Wissle found that my dog (Margo) needed to go through a first heat cycle prior to her spay. She explained the benefits of waiting and I completely agreed. She stayed on the phone with me going through multiple options, without rushing me and answering every follow-up question. Dr. Wissle also administered her Lyme vaccination during that time. The next morning Margo was showing signs of an allergic reaction to her vaccine. Dr. Wissle immediately came to the rescue and provided an rx for medication to relieve the symptoms. I was able to have her on the phone within minutes of calling and after viewing with Danielle. The amazing tech who had gone over all of my questions. An hour after my initial call, Margo was comfortable due to the swift action of the team. For Margo's spay, she was with Dr. Hawk and surgical tech Kristen, due to scheduling. I will be honest and say that I was a bit of a hot mess dropping my best friend off to surgery when I couldn't go inside. Kristen was fantastic in answering all of my questions. I had a call within an hour, telling me that Margo was out of surgery and would be ready in the early afternoon to go home. Dr. Hawk inserted humor into his message telling me that she "raised her paw first", perhaps something he says often but his humor comforted my worried heart. The post-op instructions were clearly reviewed and the home instructions made it simple to follow. I have never been able to set foot inside of the office due to the pandemic, yet it still feels like home. Every single interaction I have had with all team members has been nothing but positive. This team has an amazing leadership that stems down from the top. It is evident that the office manager, Abby took swift action to create the "new normal" systems. The way the team has pivoted during this time to keep all pet parents safe is one that I will forever be grateful for. read more

I really like Dr Wissel and the staff here. I find it expensive though- $1200 for a well visit for 2 dogs and $300 for a tech/vaccination visit for 2 dogs. My one dog had a #2 in the waiting room. They were nice enough to give me a bag to pick it up and the lady disposed of it. On checkout though, I noticed that I had been charged $8 for "biohazardous waste removal." Really?? That is such a fleece that I am considering going elsewhere. read more

Today, was one of the saddest days a pet owner can go through. I unfortunately, had to put my 10 year old grey and white tabby down due to an already progressed kidney failure. The vet staff are very kind and patient. Although there was not much to do for my munchkin, they still provided us with options and described everything that could be done for us. The sad thing about vet care is the cost and price, but that's almost every location. The don't provided medication and injections that are not needed and they always ask first. Nonetheless, they did a great job informing us each about medication that would be provided to us and breaking down the most expensive to least expensive option. Additionally, I called the same day for treatment and they said they wouldn't be able to take me because they were booked until Friday. I did ask to be on the waiting listen and as soon a slot opened up they called, so they are efficient with trying take care of your pet. This has happened twice now with my other cats too. They are very friend and although I'm extremely sad about the passing of my beloved friend, I'm glad I was able to such friendly staff at my side. One con though, depending the amount of patients that have for that day it may take a while in between tests and the vet talking to you. However they always make it aware to in form you. read more

Have been so happy with this practice for our dog and two cats for the past 8 years. The vets, Dr Hawk (an incredibly kind and honest man who is transitioning to retirement), Dr Went, Wissel, and Lieberman, are outstandingly responsive, kind, and trustworthy. They go the extra mile to call you and really talk through all your questions. We adopted our cats and they do a free initial exam for cats adopted from the Gifford cat shelter. Prices are MUCH more reasonable than at the place in Brookline we went to before this. The location is lovely with a yard and a fake "hydrant" for your dogs. Front desk staff is super friendly and will submit pet insurance claims for you. read more

My pet dog was injured and I had called at 5:40 PM to see if he could be seen by one of the veterinarians. I was rudely told that he couldn't be seen due to the time being to close to the closing time. I totally understand that it was close to closing time however, if they truly cared about my animal like they claim they do, they would have seen my dog. They are open until a certain time for a reason. The owner did not contact us when we requested to speak to him because of how rude the Manager Danielle was (not the doctors). Within less than a week, my dogs medical records were sent to my house via mail. They did not notify us to let us know that my dog is not longer their patient. Please do your thorough research before choosing a vet. Everyone wants the best for their animal and in this case, this veterinarian office is definitely far from that. No one wants to spend 200 dollars at a animal hospital and would rather spend 75 on a visit. Thank you! read more

This is a community practice, so which veterinarian you get really can impact your experience. We've brought our dogs to Dr. Hawk for years, and we love Dr. Hawk. When we've had to use other vets at this practice, I've largely found them lacking. So, the rest of the review (and the rating) are essentially for Dr. Hawk... When we got our first dog, we really wanted a vet that would take some amount of time to get to know the dog (we had one that didn't even know his name) and would have a philosophy compatible to ours (i.e., to not over-treat). We were really impressed with Dr. Hawk from the first time we met him, owing to his direct but compassionate nature, thorough understanding of veterinary medicine, and his not overreacting to small issues. In our years of working with Dr. Hawk, we never felt he was trying to push some sort of service or procedure on us just to make a buck. For example, when our GSD was being neutered, I asked that they x-ray his hips in order to see if there was any early sign of dysplasia. After the procedure, Dr. Hawk showed me the x-rays and took the time to explain what a proper hip joint looks like and how one of my dog's hips was just a little loose, but that it really wasn't a problem. A lesser vet would have tried to push a $5k-per-hip procedure to "fix" something that wasn't really a problem. Oh, and the reason Dr. Hawk could see my dog's hips so clearly is that they have state of the art equipment. Some other local vets have x-ray capabilities that are so dated they're barely useful! I highly recommend Dr. Hawk, but I definitely do not recommend the other vets at this practice. read more

Terrible experience with Dr. Prescottano. I went there for my initial puppy check up, he gave her a shot she didn't need (after seeing her medical history), almost pushed her off the table, etc. He was extremely unfriendly and made it very uncomfortable for me to ask him questions, and answered those I did ask with short, curt answers. The two stars are for the following: This place came recommended as a popular vet by my daycare and other pet owners in the area who had been going there for a long time. Turns out Dr. Denk is really fantastic, I just had bad luck and didn't know better when I scheduled my first visit. It's $53/wellness exam (to see the vet) and $26/vaccine which makes it a little expensive. Ended up getting the rest of my puppy shots from Waltham Petco's low cost vaccine clinics and having a much nicer visit - I suppose everyone does need a real steady vet though. read more

I went here when my cat's leg got hurt. We never really went to a vet in the past so didn't know what to expect but the horror stories posted on yelp had me a little intimidated. I called Saturday morning and got a appointment a few hours later. We got there early and they took us right in and took my cats vitals. The vet herself, Dr Joseph was fantastic and spent 40 minutes with us going over injury and answering all our questions. I never felt blown off by the Dr and she showed great care and compassion for my cat. Her examine was enough and no x-ray was needed. I felt they were very honest and strait forward with us. Gave us meds and instructions for the care of our cat and the price, IMO, was very fair. 2 days later a different doctor called and followed up with us to make sure everything was going well. She gave follow up instructions and answered my questions. She even offered us to come in 2 Months to weigh our cat (overweight) to see how the diet is going, free of charge. Overall I am very happy I came here and would recommend this practice to all those looking for patient and caring vets. Update: Been here a few more times and again was impressed with their professionalism and bed-side manner. read more

I had a very upsetting experience with Commonwealth Vet this morning. My family has used Commonwealth Vet for our three dogs for over 20 consecutive years. In the past, we have always received very good care (with a special shout out to Dr. Wissel for her excellent care of our first dog). However, early this morning I discovered that our 10-year-old Lab was bleeding profusely from her rear end. This bleeding came out of the blue; in fact we had just brought our dog to CV five weeks earlier for a well visit where she got a clean bill of health (and we got an actual bill of $713). When I called CV early this morning to try to schedule an emergency appointment, I was told that they were double booked all day and had no time to see my dog. When I asked if they had any slots for emergencies, I was told that they did--but that they were all booked. I found this difficult to believe/understand as I had called at 8:55 a.m. All of the emergency slots booked first thing in the morning? In the time that Dr. Lieberman spent arguing with me on the phone, he could have examined my dog. His incompassionate stonewalling left me frustrated, hurt, and extremely angry. Instead, we had no choice but to go to Blue Pearl urgent care in Waltham where we and our dog were treated with kindness and compassion...and received a diagnosis of metastatic cancer. We brought our dog home to spend her last few days pampered and loved. It was deeply disappointing, however, that the veterinary hospital where our dog has been a patient her whole life--and where we have been clients for 20+ years--had no time to see us or care for our pet at a scary and upsetting time. I understand that CV was sold recently, and I wonder whether the double booking and absence of emergency slots reflects a new emphasis on profit maximization over compassionate care. In an event, CV would do well to alert their human clients that they will be happy to see your pet and take your money for routine well visits, but don't count on them to be there for you when your pet has a sudden medical issue. read more

I couldn't say enough good things about this place. I found Commonwealth via web search a few years ago when my dog got pretty sick. I was newer to the area and was looking for something close. I actually called a another place first but they weren't able to see her for a few hours. Then I called Commonwealth and they took her in right away. I have been a HUGE fan ever since. My dog has had a few serious and some non serious issues (I'm a crazy dog mom) and I find the staff very accommodating, informative and friendly. Over the years I've seen a few doctors but as of recently it's been Dr. Lieberman. He is awesome and a life saver for my crazy dog mom antics. Unfortunately for him, he gave me his email lol. He's so responsive, directly follows up on things and has a genuine compassion. I was reading other reviews before writing this and people complaining about pricing baffles me. I find it to be comparable to other places in my past and at the same time, who cares when you love your pet you do/pay anything for good service. I highly recommend this vet for your animal babies! read more

Commonwealth Vet is most certainly is in need of an up to date assessment. We just got our little French Bulldog Dockers in October 2012. He has been seen by Dr. Hawk, Dr. Mercurio (who is currently not working there anymore) and most recently by Dr. Wissel. All the visits have been amazing. They really work hard to make you feel part of the family. They are also awesome with explaining what's going on with your pet, not just giving medication for no reason, or testing for no reason. The staff has known our name since day one. They are also great with calling back for over the phone consults at no additional charge. They are also awesome with pet insurance! Even though they don't endorse one over another, they will help you accomplish any paperwork necessary for a claim. They are so patient with nervous pet owners like myself. Couldn't imagine going anywhere else. read more

I found out about Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital from someone at the dog park. I had a bad experience at MA Animal Hospital and wanted to switch. Dr. Hawks and his staff were highly recommended. One of my dogs developed a cyst that needed to be removed. I went the the MA Animal Hospital in Watertown and during the first visit I felt like they were up selling me on services that were not needed. I left with a quote of $1,200 for the surgery. I went back a month later and the quote went up to over $1,400.00. That is when I decided to switch. I met Dr. Hawks and his compassion for my dog was amazing. I showed him the previous quote and he immediately shaved off 30% saying that a lot of what they were quoting was not needed. Needless to say, Emma (my dog) had her surgery with Dr. Hawks and is doing great. I have been back a couple of times for various things and the whole staff is amazing. They are kind and compassionate and even though it is a business, they are fair and do not gauge. It is obvious that their primary focus is making sure their patients are healthy. For humane and compassionate care, I highly recommend Dr. Hawks and his team at Commonwealth Veterinary Clinic. read more

I have been bringing my dog and cat there since 1994. Dr. Wissel is their Dr. and she is excellent! Most recently, my little doggie fell (4lb toy poodle) and broke her arm, total complete break, like it snapped in half. My poor baby. She sent us to Blue Pearl in for emergency surgery, and Minnie did terrifically. When I brought her in for her first puppy visit, they strongly suggested pet health insurance. Good thing I did! It paid 90% of everything! My kitty is an old guy, 15yrs going on 16. She diagnosed him with lymphoma. She lays it on the line, explaining the various options. I opted NOT for surgery.He responded very well to the chemo, and we went from there. Dr. Wissel was very pleased with his response! This was 4 yrs ago! She didn't think he would last 2yrs! He has done very well with the chemo and prednisone, and she monitors his bloodwork to make sure everything is OK, and no adverse effects from the meds. She's totally shocked that he has lasted so long! He is losing weight, to be expected, so I'm not sure how much longer he will last, though. He doesn't seem to know he is sick, and acts like his usual self. When I bring one pet in, she always asks about the other. I had another little doggie before Minnie. She had a neuromuscular tumor and was very brave til the end. CVH provided excellent end of life care. read more

Terrible experience. Commonwealth spayed my puppy, but didn't deem it necessary to send her home with a cone to prevent licking/bothering her wound. I questioned them, saying I thought it was standard practice to send them home from surgery with a cone, but they said, she was fine without it. Well, late that night she managed to open her wound, and proceeded to run around our house, yelping in pain while her insides trailed her!! Emergency vet bills at VESCO/BluePearl (care here was amazing) were over $2000! As they had to perform a second surgery to repair and flush her out so that she wouldn't get an infection. The whole experience left us with a timid, untrusting dog and a huge bill. Commonwealth refused to reimburse us except for $135. which is their "vet visit" fee. Really, really poor excuse for a veterinary hospital. read more

If i could give zero stars I would. I have never had such an unpleasant, unhelpful, and rude experience at any kind of hospital -- and that was just the receptionist. It is clear to me that the employees could care less about me and my pets. Not only was I treated like a nuisance, I was abruptly hung up on, and given sass. In addition, this hospital charges absurd fees (DNA removal for an ear swab??) and continuously suckers patients into paying ridiculous amounts for minor medical issues. I will be taking my animals elsewhere ASAP. read more

They treat your dogs as if they were their own! We have been bringing our dogs to Commonwealth Vet since 2007 and couldn't be happier or feel more confident of the care they are given. Dr. Hawk is our main vet, who we love (dogs & humans!) And anytime they've been seen by another vet there, our experience has been excellent. From the knowledgable and personable front-end staff, the incredibly caring vet technicians, to the doctors themselves, they are top-notch! OK, this one gets emotional and will probably ramble, so stay with me. We've been going to CVH for 5 years, and have 2 dogs at this point, so I'll start by saying that, like all multi Dr. practices, some Dr's in the practice are better than others. Also, since we've taken Sparky to see Dr. Hawk 2 years ago we have been very happy with him, as well as with Dr. Leonard, whom we saw this year for the boys regular check up and shots. While some people who have yelped have complained about the high cost of the bill and poor diagnostics, let me tell you what happened just yesterday, then you be the judge. Sparky hasn't been feeling well for a few days (drinking a lot of water, lack of energy, no appetite) so we decided to take him in just to check out what could be wrong. Our concern level was fairly low, and so 3:20 in the afternoon found us sitting in one of the exam rooms. Dr Hawk came in and spoke to the humans about the problem while Sparky was led away to be weighed and have some blood drawn. The assistant asked if the Dr wanted test A, B, C and D (I can't remember what they were exactly, just that there were a bunch. Dr. Hawk said "Hold off, let me see what we have until we run the tests." After a physical, he became concerned because of the color of Sparky's gums (too pale). He asked the assistant to run test A and B, and said he was concerned and wanted to do a chest X-ray. True enough, he didn't quote prices, but I didn't ask, and I don't think any Dr. talks about that...I know my PCP sure doesn't. Anyway, he asked to keep Sparky for 1/2 hour to get the X-ray, and then he said he'd make the diagnosis. So, the other dog goes to the park for 1/2 hour and we're back in a exam room. Dr Hawk comes in, and in flat out tones says that Sparky most probably has a ruptured spleen. He showed me the area on the x-ray, which I could make out pretty well. He also told us that his platelets and red blood cells were incredibly low, and that Sparky would need emergency surgery immediately. Dr. Hawk told us that there was a good chance Sparky wouldn't make it through the night without the surgery. At this point, dear reader I am almost in tears. I know what something like this runs, and I know that Christmas just passed, so the financial well is pretty dry. I told him this, said there was some $$ in the bank, and that my tax return was due in a week or so, and that would cover it. Dr Hawk thought for about 1/2 a second and then said that, even though it's now after 4PM on the day we expected a major snow storm, he would talk to his colleagues and see if they would be willing to help in the surgery, but lets me know they don't have overnight care, so Sparky would have to come home for the night, and he might not make it through the night. While he's off talking, i review my 3 options: 1. Take Sparky to an emergency vet, which I know will run about $3500 - $4000. 2. Hope that Dr. Hawk et al would do the surgery, let me pay later on, and know I was staying up with my 'child' for the night. 3. Put Sparky to sleep even though he's only 7, and I'm not ready to let go. Dr. Hawk returns, and yes, they'll do the surgery; yes, they'll work with me on payment; yes, they'll try to keep the bill down; and yes, come back in 2 hours when they are closing up. And remember, big snow storm coming, no one wants to be there late, it's already starting to fall. 6PM, Dr. Hawk comes out, his khakis blood splattered from the surgery, and the news is "Sparky made it, I took out almost 750ml of blood from his abdomen, removed the spleen, fixed everything, closed him up, and we're pumping him full of fluids now so you can take him home." After a few minutes of me crying with joy, Dr. Hawk came out with some meds, directions for the night, and the bill. He went over it with me, and truly was fair, not just fair but downright generous. The bill was nicely under $2000, the items on the bill were reasonable (meds, xrays, office visit, surgery, anesthesia, the tests.) Sparky was carried to the car, came home, made it through the night, and we went back the next day (a little late in the day because of the snow). Did I mention that Dr. Hawk gave me his cell number TWICE, and called before he had dinner that night? The follow up was great, Sparky looked good, the Dr fed him some wet food (which he loved), we did another blood test to compare his levels. Dr. Hawk showed the yesterday and today tests, and explained what was good, what wasn't perfect, Sparky came home and is resting nicely. Now, I've spoken of Dr. Hawk, but what i really mean is Dr. Hawk and his team. The front desk staff were compassionate, caring, and so happy to see Sparky come in on his own today. The assistants who were all not only working on Sparky, but rooting for him, everyone. As I write this, the tears of appreciation for everyone, and the relief that my dog got some incredible care from some immensely caring professionals. Thanks! read more

I had a cost dispute at this place because they failed to inform me that a service they recommended for my dog would be extremely expensive. I asked to be reimbursed for a small part of the service after, because I really felt they should have been up front with me but the office manager flat out refused and said if I reversed the charge on my card she would send me to credit. If they had just worked with me I would have been willing to give them another try and bring my dog back for future visits. They could have had a lifetime of business, instead their poor customer service has forced me to find another place to take my dog. I cannot recommend this place and will continue to warn others. My fault for not checking other reviews of this vet. I would have soon learned others have experienced many problems as well. read more

CVH was our regular vet until recently. Our dog started acting differently so we took him in to get checked out. Long story short, we took him there several times to have tons of tests done. After doing blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and an invasive test for lymphoma (totaling in the thousands of dollars) all they could say was that he was sick but didn't know with what. The doctor said he probable had lymphoma, which he did not have, but the worrying made me and my wife sick ourselves. Finally, they sent us to a specialist at VASCONE who did more tests and still did not know any more. Eventually our wonderful dog began to feel better on his own. The reason for the one star is simple. After several visits without any solution and sending us to a specialist did they bother to do one simple follow up phone call or letter? NO! Nothing. We did not hear from them until months later when our dog was due for his shots. They can pay somebody to call for this but I guess it's too much to pay someone to do a little follow up. Honestly, even a used car salesman calls after a little while to see how things are going. I don't ask for much from doctors, people or animals. I simply don't want to be treated like a slot machine when I go to them. CVH looked at us more like dollar signs than loving pet owners. In the end I felt like they simply took advantage of our compassion for our dog to make money. There are plenty of vets out there who can make a good living while they treat people and their pets with dignity. I recommend finding one of them. read more

Before disregarding this practice based on its poor showing in stars, please consider that Commonwealth Vet is under new ownership, and has completely new doctors (keeping Drs. Denk and Hawk). I, too, have had trouble with the bedside manner of one of the doctors who is no longer with the practice. Currently, my puppy sees Dr. Leonard, who has been so kind and patient with her, and so helpful to me. Since she's a rescue, my puppy has a number of skin problems and parasites, which Dr. Leonard is working so carefully to rid her of. Dr. Leonard made herself available to me by email, and was very responsive when I had questions. My puppy feels comfortable under her care, and the care of the wonderful veterinary technicians at Commonwealth Vet. Since starting her medications, my puppy is significantly less itchy, less lethargic, more puppy-like, and is growing back her fur! We're so lucky that we brought her here. The only reason I'm giving Commonwealth Vet four stars instead of five is because they're a little bit more expensive than other vets I've looked into. Also, it's right next to a wonderful dog walking park with a swimming area, which is a great way to calm a dog before a visit to the vet, and to make the experience a positive one. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences with this practice! My cats have been seen at this practice for a few years, and they have always been very helpful. The receptionist are all very caring and helpful when we come in, and our appointments are always seen on time. The doctor my cats have been seeing for a few years(Dr. Leonard) just left the hospital to move to CA, so my most recent visit was with Dr. Mercurio and she was just as friendly and knowledgeable. My cat had a very rare problem with his urinary track and the Drs. sepnd alot of time researching different ways to treat the problem. They all care about your animals and do everything they can to fix/rectify the problems. Over all, I would definitely recommend this hospital, I have had nothing but good experiences here. read more

Like Mike M my experience is with Dr Hawk and he has been wonderful. If all of the covering vets were like him I would have given 5 stars I too have found Dr Hawk to be empathic, caring and patient and not interested in pursuing tertiary care or more treatment than necessary. I have had the sad experience where one of my dogs aged gracefully until he needed to be euthanized. I appreciated the concern that was shown for both of us by the office. We were seen early am before the office opened and while it is never a good experience it truly was quite peaceful. With my next dog who was a rescue he was incredibly reassuring and could see the dog underneath the adjustment reaction he was having. I am very thankful he has been out vet read more

My approx. 15 year old rescue dog had an abscessed tooth. I went to see these folks to get a 2nd opinion & estimate for dental work needed. Their estimate was at least $1,000 less than the low estimate my "regular" vet wanted to charge who I've been going to for 10 years in Waltham. After approx 2 hr surgery it turned out he needed all 18 of the teeth left in his mouth removed. Dr Hawk did a fantastic job! My dog is recovering nicely & feeling great after 2 weeks. All the staff there are super nice and they managed to fit us in the very next day because of the urgency. I highly recommend, they will be my new regular vet after this experience! read more

Dr. Larry Hawk and his staff at Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital are compassionate and professional. I use Dr. Hawk as my primary vet for my eight-year-old boxer. Dr. Hawks knowledge has been impressive and I can see his genuine care for my dog and her needs.
