Wow--Canmore is exceeding itself with this chic health conscious cafe! Apparently it has been around for a long time, but recently undergone an Instagram-worthy facelift. The establishment is spacious and bright, with carefully considered details, down to the old timey candy shop striped paper straws that they hand out with cold drinks. The menu options are manifold. You can tick off all of your veggie and protein requirements for the day with one of their generous grain bowls. They even do a version of their Buddha bowl for kids, with rice, avocado, tofu, and sweet potato--nary a chicken nugget in sight! I opted for a quesadilla, which came with a whole wheat tortilla, sharp natural cheddar, and local chicken. Delicious. My only slight quibble is that the lemonade was REALLY sweet, so consider splitting one with a friend and watering it down. We absolutely LOVED this place. The teas were all delicious, the food was SPECTACULAR, and the ambiance was amazing. Everything was incredibly clean, the employees were all so nice, and the restaurant was very eco friendly which we loved. I got the pad Thai bowl and the soup of the moment (precious) which was a roasted vegetable. All incredibly tasty!! A friend introduced us to this place while we were visiting Canmore for the weekend. I like the setup a lot, cafe style. I ordered the sushi bowl with wild salmon sashimi added. It comes with brown rice, avocado, cucumber, carrot, nori (seaweed paper), peppers, sprouts, kale, and a carrot ginger miso dressing so the meal won't be completely dry. Everything looked and tasted really fresh. The only thing I'm very disappointed about is that they give you 3 tiny pieces of sashimi. At almost $15 for a sashimi bowl, I expected it to be full of salmon. However, this is Canmore, so everything is already overpriced. Service was decent. Randomly found this place by walking along a street in Canmore. Wonderful service and comfy, clean decor. Selection of tea is fantastic and I tried the coconut chocolate chai... it was perfect! I added no sugar, honey or milk. Straight up in a cup delicious! Hubby had an Americano which was fine and our son had a kids hot chocolate that was out of this world.... you could taste the dark chocolate in the foam and see the cocoa bits at the bottom of the cup when he finished. We shared a pesto croissant and a lemon square. The shortbread crust was a bit dry and crumbly and I like my lemon a bit more tart but both were tasty! This is a kid friendly place with a baby change table, a tent and toys. My guess is it's a popular mom n tots place to hang out for a drink. I definitely want to return for more tea and their bowls. Passing through the town on our trip but was looking for something quick and healthy and the communitea cafe did not disappoint. Food was served quickly and was super fresh. The bowls are really good we had the yoga bowl with salmon and the pad Thai which was phenomenal! The chai latte was also really good. Service was very friendly. Alright guys, do come here for vegetables; do not come here for the Pad Thai. It simply does not taste like it should. It just tastes like linguini noodles in peanut sauce... If you're a vegetarian, however, you will love their power salad bowl. My vege friend devoured it; the vegetables were absolutely fresh, vibrant, flavorful. If I come back, even my carnivorous self would order the same. The tahini garlic sauce that it comes with adds another dimension to vegetables. You can't get more wholesome than that. Vegetables in Canada taste way better than in America. Surprise surprise. Also, their iced maple latte is on point. I enjoyed that way more than my noodles. What a cute cafe! I love that it's community orientated even from the name. A wall of tea options available and I choose a fruity tea and the avocado toast. for brunch. You order before you take a seat as there is no table service. It's so bright inside with so many windows all the way around the building.The decor is cute and every table has a vase with flowers from a local florists. The wall by my table had mounted plant pots and succulents creeping out. It was lovely! The food was good. Came to Communitea right before heading off to Banff as the very first place we ate at on our vacation. Such a cute little cafe for a solo breakfast! Upon entry, you can sample their tea of the day which was a tasty moringa tea and you take the menu then order at the counter. I ordered the hemp berry smoothie bowl, substituting yoghurt for coconut milk (option to make it vegan.) After ordering you take your number and they bring it to the table. You can help yourself to water (I only knew this when I saw other people bringing their water to the table.) My smoothie bowl arrived quickly and it was delicious! I went for breakfast here today and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Great decor, friendly staff and yummy food. The chinook panini had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and hummus with some apple slices on the side. The open faced sandwich had avacado, tomotoes and pesto on ciabata bread. These were great! Now, this was our very first stop in Canada from the US on our way to Banff so she was literally the first example of Canadian hospitality we had...not a good start. She seemed annoyed for no reason and not once did she crack a smile. I got the thai coconut curry bowl and the pina colada tea. Both were excellent. My friend got the gourmet grilled cheese that comes with the side of popcorn and she was also satisfied. I really loved how many vegan and GF options this place has, which is why I chose it in the first place. I wanted to give this place 5 stars but the service and atmosphere made the score take a hit. Hold on... it's made with organic black beans, roasted red peppers, aged cheddar and cilantro on a sprouted grain or gluten free tortilla with a side of organic blue corn tortillas and housemade salsa. After reading all the rave reviews on Yelp, we came to this place for breakfast. There is plenty of outdoor seating facing the beautiful Canmore downtown and a huge indoor seating as well. I loved the vibe inside this dainty cafe shop - white walls with flamboyant decor art work and collectibles. Just the way I love it!! This trip we had the strawberry and organic pear green teas. Even in the presses the aroma of the teas heightens the anticipation, they smell so good. We also had an Almond-Apple-Spinach salad (forgot the actually name of the dish) that was off the charts. With the additions of red peppers, dried cranberries and balsamic dressing this was a refreshing, healthy light snack. So simple, but so delicious. My wife and I came here for lunch based on yelp recommendations. First off the mood was kind of what I expected, it's a little coffee shop where you go up and order you drinks and food and then find a place to sit and they bring it out to you. We ordered the Pad Thai bowl and the dragon bowl (with added "free-range" chicken). The bowls were good with lots of fresh vegetables. The only issue is sauce, there is a lot of sauce. If we ever go there again I'll be sure to order half sauce or sauce on the side. I honestly couldn't stop looking at the pictures on Yelp of Communitea Cafe. The decor looked beyond-IKEA-level incredible and I loved loved loved their menu. I spent twenty minutes in the car beforehand, just because I couldn't decide between the Buddha Bowl or the Yoga Bowl. To my dismay, this place turned out to be pretty overrated and for several reasons. First off, the courteousness of the lady who took my older seemed so force. Her words and tone sounded very enthusiastic, but she failed to show a smidge of spirit on her face. I felt almost patronized having my order taken by her. I asked for dressing on the side for my Yoga Bowl on the go. I was very specific about it too, since I have sensitivities to dressings (and also I didn't know what tahini was... oops!). The lady acknowledged this fact. Then I waited on the couch for a good 15 minutes. Even though the bowl seems simple to make, expect to wait a long time. I'm not sure if it's because everything is super fresh or they are really understaffed, but I was getting a little impatient about my take-out order. When the order was ready, a different person came with a nice smile and gave me my bowl in an environmentally conscious container (nice!). I open it to make sure it's right and was absolutely appalled to see a half-empty box with dressing smeared all over the chickpeas and sweet potato. I paid $15+. TLDR: this place is overpriced and they do not listen to instructions. At that point, I was so impatient and my family had waited for me for long time to purchase this meal. I wanted to ask the lady who took my order why there was dressing on it, but no one was behind the register since the store was almost closing. It would've taken forever for them to make another one anyways, and my family had been waiting for me for a long time. I left in frustration. Amazing!!! I looked up this place while doing my usual foodie research for a quick trip to Banff and Canmore. From the online menu I knew I had to come here, and boy am I glad I did. This cafe is perfect for anyone wanting a break from all the burgers and steak the region has to offer. I personally was craving a healthy eating day after a few days in Banff. The place is bright and modern with sofas and regular tables. The service is very quick and extremely friendly. I had a very hard time deciding what to order because everything including the daily specials looked amazing. I settled on the Mega Fresh Bowl with extra goats cheese and the tahini garlic dressing (which I was told is a local favourite). I also got a cream of Earl Grey London Fog. Fortunately for me they had both almond and soy milk for all their coffee and tea selections. If you're a tea enthusiast, this place will not disappoint as they carry an enormous selection. My salad was incredible. It was huge but I managed it no problem. Everything was fresh and bright and the dressing was amazing. I also sampled a few of their mini vegan treats- the chocolate macaroon heart particularly stands out. Overall, Communitea is one of those rare places (in Canada at least) that offers healthy and of-the-moment options (ie. Beet burger!) I would eat here all the time if I could. read more
