I don't know why this place has some bad reviews. I've been coming here for years and always get great service. The people who work here are so friendly -- offered to help me carry my stuff to the lobby. It's the only car wash in the area that I know of that cleans the inside. I've paid extra for rain ex and it really works to keep the car cleaner longer. read more

The first time I visited this location for a full service wash, it was worthy of a 1 star review. However, I spoke with the owner and he notified me they were short staffed and my 40 minute wait for a full service wash was not normal. So i decided to give the another try. I will admit the service went a little faster this time. I was able to get out in 30 minutes, but i do not like the method used to pull cars back. I ended up with two full service customers that arrived after me going ahead of me in line. My car had already been vacuum and was used to block "exterior wash onlys" from entering the wash area, while two customers whom arrived after passed me by. This place is the worst. I waited 20 minutes after selecting the best wash over 33.00 + rain wash. After waiting 20 minutes my car wasn't even started. I kept inquiring I was told since have a manual transmission they only had one cleaner who could drive it. The car was not vacuumed out suficenttly, nor were the door sills and behind seats taken care of. This is an over priced con shop where there is little to none communication! When they deemed my car finally finished and now I'm at 1 hour 12 minutes, and 2 is workers later, the second worker got out of my car eating and candy bar left the door open and didn't say one word to me. I paid for a carwash but didn't receive one. Both online and on the phone, the hours were advertised as 8 AM to 6PM for Saturdays. Upon arrival, I drove to pay station and paid $24. Other cars followed suit. We all waited for the garage door to open for the car wash, but nobody came out even after 15 minutes. I stepped down to knock at the door. I had my Ford Escape deluxe car wash with 4 added extras totalling $38. When my car was cleaned, I was not happy with the completed wash. The attendant told me the vacuum system wasn't working and he had cleaned the dash etc. The attendant escalated. I told him I was not satisfied with the work done. I told him I would call the police if he did not settle down."b--ch who do you think owns this car wash" the attendant ask me to step out of the car and we could settle it, I am 76 year old man and said I will just call the police. The attendant continued to disrespect me and threatened me. The final discussing action is when he spit on my passenger window. I have been using this car wash for 30 years. I think this is my favorite car wash in Ann Arbor - got the Ultimate Exterior wash for only $12 and am very satisfied with the results. All the salt and dirt are completely gone and my car looks shiny and brand new. Excellent "clean and protect" detailing job. Admittedly I had a rough encounter the first time I went in here. I tried calling twice, and it just went to voicemail. So I drove across town to get there, and an older guy was pretty rude, saying, "We're not doing detailing. The washer broke and there's nobody doing it." Not a great first encounter, but bad days happen. Tried the next day, calling first again, and a nice woman picked up and we arranged a time. And I have to say I was pretty peeved and ready to criticize everything... but the guy (not the dude from the night before!) did a GREAT job. He spent about 25 minutes in there, and as promised, the "plastic and glass" portions of the inside were stellar. It might be a little too heavy on the shiny "Armor All" tire look for me, but a week later it's still looking amazing. (It looked so "wet" that I was afraid it would stain clothes so I wiped it all a bit with a towel, but it's not a "staining" type substance thankfully. Maybe silicone?) Anyway, great attention to detail--he really got the dirt and dust out of tight spots--and a decent value at $35. read more

True to my word, I did return, and gave this business another try. The second experience was basically identical to the first, except my car was given back to me with more dirty water on it for me to clean up than the first time. I spent about five minutes in the exit area wiping gunky water drips off the car and cleaning the windows that they skipped. It would have been great if someone had noticed and said "hey, can I help you do our job?" I would love this place to be better at what they are there for. read more

An updated to my previous review: I've tried sticking with this place, but the quality is ridiculous. I love the perks and discounts they have (UM discount, 2-day wash guarantee, free wash after 10 visits), but it's the same story after each visit: Missed seams, sloppy tire dressing, partially wiped body panels.... EVEN when the owner is assisting with the washing/drying, and EVEN on the higher priced wash. The interior is usually pretty good (except for the windshield smearing that I mentioned in the last review). I'm close to my free wash, once I hit it, I'm moving on. read more

I needed my car washed- exterior and interior- so I went online to find a place in Ann Arbor. I'll be honest in saying I was a little nervous based on a few of the reviews on Yelp/Facebook, but it seemed the most cost-effective for what I was looking for, so I gave it a try. I'd called ahead to make sure the package I saw online ("Ultimate Wash") was going to give me what I needed. For reference, as of this review it's described online as "Triple Foam Wax, Total Body Protectant, Clear Coat Protectant, Under Carriage Wash, Soft Touch Soapy Wash, Towel Dry, Rim & Tire Cleaner, & Tire Shine" + "Interior Vacuuming, Interior Wipe Down, Clean Interior Windows, & Hand Towel Dry." When I told him I wanted an exterior wash and some basic interior cleaning, the gentleman who answered the phone seemed careful to say that the interior of my car wouldn't be "cleaned" but rather "cleaned out." He also estimated that it would take around 15min if it wasn't busy, and maybe around 30min if it was a sunny day and there was a line of cars. I opted for that $22 Ultimate Wash (it was $1 extra- $23 total- to have them vacuum the trunk). I think that this was a great option for what I wanted. I needed a regular exterior car wash, nothing fancy, and was hoping to have the interior vacuumed out, wiped down, inside windows washed, and that's about it. I wasn't expecting a crazy extensive interior and exterior detail, and certainly didn't expect my car to be "like new" again. For $23 + a couple extra bucks as tip, I think that I got what was advertised. Most of the dirt, leaves, hair that was on the floor, seats, etc. was gone, although there was some leftover in the crevices and edges of my vehicle. The interior wipe down was decent, but I don't think they really spot clean (mind you, they don't advertise that they do). For example, I had a small sticky substance near my cupholder that wasn't cleaned up, but again, it's advertised as an "interior wipe down"- nothing more. I guess I would add that the level of work they completed is probably about the same that I could do myself at home with a vacuum and some windex or at one of those self service places. However I was willing to pay the small price to not have to do it myself and get a decent job done in a small amount of time. I didn't inspect the outside too much and it already had some dings and scratches, but it seems like they did a good job there too. The staff was friendly to me, explaining the process since it was my first visit. I probably waited around 20-25min total from start to finish. They had a decent waiting area with TV on items for purchase like drinks, snacks and auto supplies (wipers, air fresheners). There were some interesting stains on the seat cushions of the waiting area chairs. All in all, I think I got what I was looking for. Prior to going, I'd compared this place to a lot of other car detailing places in the area that were charging at least $100, which was something I wasn't willing to spend and something I frankly didn't need. I can't attest to their specific detail services which are more extensive and also more expensive, but for a basic exterior and interior wash, I think they did a good job at a decent price, and I didn't see a similar option advertised anywhere else. 4 stars only because I think the vacuum job could have been more complete in some areas, but was overall decent. read more

Don't ever let them scam you with the full service cleaning, because you definitely can do a better job vacuuming their car than those people, they just take your money and the TIP and barely run the vacuum in your car. They dont touch the tight spots either. It takes a lot to get me to the point of wanting to leave a negative review for a business. When I pulled up to the Community Auto Wash I was asked which wash I wanted. From the sign board listing of washes I chose the $20.00 wash which is the complete or top of the line wash. I was asked if I cared to have my trunk vacuumed and said yes. When I went to pay for the wash the older fellow (manager?) who rung me up said "$21.00". I told him I thought the wash was twenty dollars. He asked me if I opted for the trunk vacuuming then told me that was an extra dollar. I explained that the person who asked if I wanted the trunk vac didn't mention that there was an additional fee. He told me there was a sign that said it was an extra dollar. There are so many signs (many janky and hand printed) in addition to the main board that lists the washes and prices, you would have to spend five minutes reading them all and still I doubt if most people would find the one that says trunk vacs are an extra dollar. Look, it's not the dollar that's the issue- it's charging a dollar on top of a twenty dollar wash for a service that is part of a normal car wash. I'm almost 50 years old, have lived all over the country and have never been charged extra to vacuum the trunk. Additionally, when an employee asks if a customer wants a particular service that's not included, it's common sense to mention that there is an additional fee and what that fee is. As I waited for my car I was wondering whether or not I wanted to spend time writing a review of this frustrating experience. When I got in my car and left I saw that the front window was terribly streaked inside, the rearview mirror hadn't been touched nor had the inside of the rear window. When I got back to the hotel where I stayed I borrowed a rag and window cleaner to finish washing my car- the car I paid 20 clams to have washed. read more

Quality of service is heavily dependent on the staff working the day of. When they are on point and thorough, it is great. I've had good days and bad days with this place but the management is very flexible and understand so communicate if you are ever dissatisfied. But... - they forgot to put protectant on the back deck (?) - the interior area right below the rear window. - there were some interior spots that weren't cleaned well. - There were white spots by on the fender. The Worst!!! I feel like an IDIOT spending $20 here (and they took for me one, obviously). I wanted an exterior and interior wash, but it is a joke. The outside is washed by a machine, which isn't a surprise, but the employees don't try to get what the machine missed, which is lame. The Interior was vacuumed, steering wheel wiped off and windows wiped, but that is it. None of the doors or plastic lining of the inside was wiped or touched at all. Last but not least, there is a "guarantee" for the wash, but ONLY FOR THE EXTERIOR WASH - Ie, they know their interior cleans are a joke and a ripoff and aren't willing to stand by it in the least bit. Let me be clear: I'm not asking for miracles - but my point is, for $20 dollars, it is such a rip-off. I paid $17 last week to get a car wash with my interiors vacuumed, windows cleaned and dash wiped down and I am pretty disappointed with the services provided for me. My car (which is only a few months old) now smells HORRIBLE. I cannot get the stench out. Idk if they spilled dirty water in my car somewhere or just cleaned it all with dirty disgusting water but oh my gosh it's so bad. Windows are also streaked and not clean at all. Vacuum job very lazily done. My husband and I have had to drive with the windows down and heat cranked just to prevent ourselves from getting sick. If I wasn't super pregnant I would have cleaned the car myself - totally regretful of what I thought would be a treat to myself. read more

I asked one of the workers for a towel because I wanted to wipe my cupholder, and I was told by the workers, they got in trouble, and the manger told them not to clean the inside too much, because we didn't pay for detailing. They charge extra for the mats and the trunk (which brings the price up to $29). Every time I pay for the mats and the trunk and every time they don't do the trunk and do a crappy job on the mats and the interior. If I don't check it on the way out, I have to go back. I previously loved this place. I livd not too far away and I felt like it was simply a good business. They cared, they gave back the community, they basically took care of you. When that happens you want to support. So, even though I moved across town, I kept coming back. I would drive a bit further, pass other car washes because I wanted to support this awesome business. But I must say I have been disappointed lately. I figured maybe it was a just a mistake or maybe I caught them on a bad day. But today it was confirmed. The quality and dedication to excellence is simply no there any more. We all have have busy schedules but when I saw that my car needed a little help ( especially with a little one who likes to throw things) I drove three extra miles to go support my spot. Initially, things were good. I grabbed my car and kept chugging along with my to-do list for the day. But when I parked at the daycare to go pick up my daughter, I was shocked. I turned around to get her car seat ready and saw that nothing was cleaned in the back. I figured this must be a mistake. So, I called. And it sounds like they have simply stopped doing this. It weird though because I paid $20. I figured they would at least clean the obvious superficial little things that were obvious in my backseat. Come on...I mean I paid $20!?!?! I was absolutely shocked that no one touched it. When I called I was told they have stopped doing this over the past couple of years. So, the decrease in quality that I saw was not a fluke. I purchased the midlevel cleaning service, which includes interior and exterior cleaning, and because I drive a minivan, they tack on an extra $2.00 to vacuum the back interior. When I returned home, I saw they had failed to vacuum the back or clean it in any way. When I called to complain, the response was unacceptable - no refund offered, no apology, just a vague promise for a free cleaning next time. I offered to leave my contact info for the free cleaning and was told it wasn't needed. I even left a tip for the crew, as I always do. This is the second time I have paid the upcharge for the back, and the second time the crew has failed to clean it. I paid for the $22 service but floor mats were not washed (sprayed as in past). More importantly, the new pay station does not have options for senior discount or loyalty program (10th service free).
