Therefore, I am not keen to praise doctors. However, PAMF has a wonderful, smart, caring family doctor that I am compelled to recommend. Her name is Doctor Maggie Williams. Dr Williams is smart, dedicated, experienced, and caring. I have had some major medical issues which Dr. Williams expertly diagnosed and has been helping me resolve. My daughter has a medical issue that her pediatrician and gynecologist misdiagnosed but Dr Williams was quick to diagnose correctly. Dr Williams is conservative and logical in her approach to treatment. She listens and asks intelligent questions. She will order tests when appropriate and will refer patients to specialists both in and outside of PAMF. She will take the time to answer your questions and concerns. She really cares. Like I said, I am very skeptical of the medical profession but if you are looking for an excellent family doctor, then check out Dr. Williams. A couple of things to note. I had been seeing a PCP at a local division of the Duke system for…read moreabout 8 years and I got fed up with that practice's billing practices, such as billing for additional visits during an annual physical when we talked about certain health items, problems I may have been having and so on, without informing me that I was going to be billed if I talked about those things (which, apparently, are outside the scope of the annual physical). The next thing is I had always thought of SGMC as an urgent care center, and not a Primary or family care center until I received some literature in the mail explaining their practice. I signed on. Dr. Baltaro was very professional with me. We walked through my medical/surgical history and current meds. When talking about my medications, there were inquiries about if and when I tried to go off of some of them, the affect my meds have on my daily nutrition and whether or not some of the meds were even useful to me anymore (such as NSAIDS). She also explained her current billing practices and talked about my above note regarding my issue with the Duke facility's billing practice. Frankly, I felt for years like Duke was more concerned about their bottom line than they were about my health concerns. I did not get that sense from talking to Dr Baltaro. 1 minor complaint knowing that no place is perfect: -I had a 9:30 appointment time. I showed up early knowing I'd have to fill out some paperwork. I didn't get taken back until roughly 9:40. The appointment did not end until about 11:20 (wait time between talking to the nursing staff and the Dr. was a bit lengthy). There could be numerous reasons for this, including me being a new patient, and the information needed to be gathered takes additional time and the walk ins to the urgent care center also taking time. This does not mean the quality of care is poor, I believe it is very good (my wife and daughter have both been here for urgent care reasons). Budgeting one's time is important when seeking primary care at a facility that also does walk ins and urgent care. Happy to be getting care here.

We arrived and noticed with relief that the waiting room was empty. I explained my son's injury to the receptionist and she took her time going back to speak to the doctor. She came back to the front and told us that the doctor would not see him and she said that we should go to the ER instead. We insisted she at least look at him to see how severe his burns are, but the only thing the receptionist said was "well, if you want to be seen, you have to fill in this paperwork". DUH! We had no issue with that. We needed to see the doctor ASAP! You know the ER would take forever to examine my son. My husband was furious and with the disregard shown by the receptionist and the doctor and said he didn't our son treated by them so we left. We went to the Duke Urgent Care on Hillandale Rd. We waited for 15 minutes and was brought back to see Dr. Bodou who was kind, patient, and very helpful. She saw his chart in the computer and had him brought back before his scheduled time. Come to find out my son has 2nd degree burns. Dr. Bodou took the time to examine him and give him the best care. It costs us 25 more minutes to get him situated, but it was worth it. I highly recommend Duke Urgent Care for non-discriminatory, friendly, and professional care.

I recently brought my mother to live with me who is 70. I was seeking more comprehensive patient care as a caregiver to someone with dementia. CenterWell delivered. Our first visit was impressive! This location is excellent. This is one of the best looking primary care facilities I've visited. Very warm, bright, immaculately clean and inviting. The reception staff greeted us at the door upon arrival. Latisha was excellent assisting us with a warm welcome and helpful information for other resources. We met with Nana Addai who took her time meeting with us and asking questions. The medical assistant was phenomenal as well. They treated my mom with respect and provided a comprehensive assessment for memory testing and checked her feet. Many providers have skipped this in the past. As a patient with diabetes, this is crucial. Mom received a senior goodie bag after her visit. With a ton of helpful resources for seniors. This site is equipped with snacks and a cute coffee station. We were grateful for the Green Mountain hazelnut k-cups, Skinny Pop and Kind granola. This isn't something doctor's offices offer typically. After her assessment, she completed lab work and we joined the Fitness Friday Chair Exercise class in the activity room. This class was high energy !!! The instructor was excellent and the women attending the class seem to have formed a community of regulars. It is excellent that they go above and beyond providing this program for seniors in the community. I appreciate the staff offering outside resources. I highly recommend CenterWell and Humana as an insurance company.

Beginning from the top, with the less proficient education of their doctor, LaToya Fulton. Unless a patient is naïve and/or oblivious, the medical incompetence is obvious throughout this practice. Their lack of available doctors makes it more difficult to treat their patients in a timely manner. That's one reason why they're not a reliable medical practice, especially for seniors. During my 6 months, their patient portal never worked, Dr. Fulton wouldn't prioritize my cold symptoms enough to schedule me in to see her, so I had no other choice but to call a more professional, competent, and compassionate medical practice. Although previously, I saw Dr. Fulton's PA, and she stated in her visitation summary that my pain started weeks ago, when actually, I told her it returned weeks ago but started a year ago. Details are important, although you'll never know they know this. Unfortunately, I relied on them again, even though I hadn't heard back from Dr. Fulton previously. This so-called medical practice is dangerous, because it's the total opposite of what it portrays itself to be. You'll be better off using Duke, UNC, or Wake Med. All three have working portals and their doctors won't ignore you when you need them most. I started to take Dr. Fulton's ignorance and incompetence personally, but I realized that subjugated people like her have their own agendas. Obviously, she can't differentiate being blessed from being cursed, which I should've taken into consideration when we first met. In ALL of my years CenterWell has to be the most medically dysfunctional practice and it need to be discontinued before they're sued for medical malpractice.

My recent annual physical was supposed to be covered 100% by my insurance company. Unfortunately, my Dr. asked a leading question that resulted in a ten second conversation about a specific area of my health history. This allowed the office to split the billing as a follow up visit, costing me $100's out of my own pocket - for a ten second conversation. This is frustrating in that while the practice of doing this is legal, I certainly find it misleading and do NOT see it as ethical. The doctor did not ask about other issues he knows about my health, which tells me he's not really interested in my health and how I feel, but rather is interested in checking some boxes so he can bill it all out accordingly. I realize everyone has to make a living, however, in light of how I've been treated by customer service and the way my annual physical was billed, there comes a time to find a Doctor's office that really does care about their patients, and less about their bottom line.
