We drive…read morealmost an hour and a half to see her and we've never felt like we were rushed out the door for a 15 minute appointment which is pretty typical in doctor's offices these days. In fact, it's really back to the old school way of family medicine. Where she listens to what sort of problems you may be having and then treats you with your comments in mind. That's what medicine is about. Reminds me of a line in the hippocratic oath: "...I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick." This practice does treat you like a sick human being. And you just can't go wrong with that these days when other institutions treat you like a cog in a manufacturing factory.

I've been back since and had an experience that made me feel awful. The receptionist and nurse are both super caring and sweet, but Christa was not. She didn't seem to care at all about me and rolled her eyes when I tried to explain my health. I was treated as a huge inconvenience. Please go to someone who can at least pretend to be concerned about you.

I feel like she is my partner in my health and is always willing to work together to find a way that will work, even if it means referring me to someone outside the community she is used to working with so that my insurance will cover it. The office staff are terrific, and the others doctors I have seen in the practice, which admittedly is not very often, were also wonderful. You can't go wrong with these people. Check-in is always efficient and I have never had to wait more than ten minutes before being seen. I can only remember one appointment where things seem to lag. In the time that I've been going here, I have been seen by three different residents, all of whom have been great to work with and seemed genuinely concerned for my health. Communication of test results and billing via My UNC Chart is convenient and effective. The main downside that I can think of being a patient at this location is that you typically will only have the same doctor for a year or eighteen months before they move on.

You would come in and doctors would explain everything so that you understand and the wait was never long. Fast forward to Covid and this place has went to shit!!! All the great doctors left. You don't get responses on my chart for months at a time. When you call for help or questions they are so rude. You get the run around. I am so over this place. Each time they would tell me someone would get back to me about this by a certain day and time, and each 6+ times, they did not follow up. And they couldn't figure out why I would be upset. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! So you guys made a mistake and then made it seem like it was my fault because I didn't catch it before I filled the prescription. Maybe you guys shouldn't have wrote the incorrect prescription in the first place. What if you wrote me a medication that could have caused serious harm to me and I didn't catch it at all? All I asked for was to be reimbursed for the WRONG medication I paid for at the pharmacy. They outright refused to correct their mistake. I've never had this ever happen to me. I also wouldn't have expected this lack of response to my concern. I would STAY AWAY from this place.

Everything was done smoothly and efficiently. I was also made to feel like a person, not some cog in a machine. The staff person behind the desk treated me almost like an old friend; the nurse was pleasant and professional, as was the lab technician. ...and Dr. Guiteras was able to make me laugh at the end of a long week! However,I did know that he was a respected person and physician. Like others seeking a family physician, I sought information from many of my new collegues and and friends. Everyone recommended him! I have never encountered such a dedicated person and Practice. He or his partner are always available, even for over night and very early AM crises. Everyone working with him is competent and treats his patients as if they were "family." We could not want more from a physician or a friend, as Dr. Guiteras has become. Ken and Sandy Jens
