It's an amazing place to take kiddos (they…read moreeven have their own u-pick lots!) to see how veggies are grown, there are even chicken that kids can feed. The veggies themselves are super fresh and it's a great variety. We've definitely had more variety when we were in CA since it's bigger farms but we still walked away with chard, Tokyo Bekana, 2 types of lettuce, delicious beets, herbs and more. Super happy to have access to the fresh veggies for the remainder of the season and having it be an interactive family outing and learning for our 2.5yo daughter. Stephanie and Claire are amazing and have such great customer service. Due to the heatwave we brought our fruit from the Redmond market in and in our rush, we forgot it there and by the time we got back, someone took it on accident. Stephanie called all the members with fruit pickups to see who mistakenly took it. To our surprise they found the person the day later and we're getting our fruit! (Was super sad since I couldn't find cherries and stone fruit of the same caliber at PCC yesterday).

This is a long one…read more... Excited to find this humble yet amazing "micro-bakery" in small town Snohomish. Don't undermine this small food truck size business they are pretty mighty imo! They put out THE MOST NUTRITIOUS and DELICIOUS sourdough breads in times when nutritious food is harder to find in typical grocery stores. Katya is passionate about producing the BEST bread and pastries starting from grounds up with purchasing local organic non gmo whole grain flour, milling grain in house (retaining nutritious components) and with utmost care transforming them into perfect loaves with her tried and true methods with her background in medical research. Her sourdough reigns supreme imo. So fresh, so substantial without making my hubby and I feel sluggish afterwards. Even better is the perfect flavor and texture. Her brownish sour dough is truly special! It was easy to pre-order online, then pick up at the Snohomish farmer's market on Thursdays during the summer months. I believe on other months her bakery truck is stationed at the Snohomish co-op parking lot. They take cards. Picking up bread at her place reminds me of going to open markets like people in Asia and Europe. Just a cool and more healthy concept of eating locally grown organic products for our health and well being. So far, we enjoyed the European whole grain rustic loaf ($12). It is a good base for amazing avocado toast. It's a good quality dense bread that sticks to your ribs. One slice is all that's needed for breakfast or open face sandwich. Love the rustic crunch after it's toasted! The $8 smaller raisin walnut sourdough would make a good dessert/ snack toast. We would top it with olive oil/butter and honey/peanut butter. One bite and I thought to myself, who needs ice cream? The fancier loaves are $14. A bit more spendy but sooo worth it!! We also got the Einkhorn whole grain sourdough too. ($12). Can't wait to try that one next. We may branch out to more like the new cheddar and chives sourdough and the one with jalepeno. She offers classes on how to make it as well. Thanks Dubuque Bakery for going the extra mile for making bread the way it should be. No additives, no stripping of its best parts and your tricks to maximize flavor. I can see now why people were so into learning how to make sourdough bread during COVID times. All your thoughtful processes shine through it was truly an enjoyable experience! Coming from Metro Detroit, which has the largest population of Arab Americans in the US, I was used to freshly baked flatbread everywhere, many baked in traditional tanoors. The selection around the Seattle area is not nearly as great, of course. Wholesome Food is a combination grocery store and bakery, with the entire right half of the store dedicated to bread. Behind the counter, we saw shelves upon shelves filled with freshly baked loaves. The employee (perhaps owner?) was super friendly and answered all our questions. Surprisingly Metro Detroit doesn't have many Persian bakeries (only a single one I know of) and I never visited. This means, of course, that I had to pick up the barbari! Wholesome Food also sells Turkish Flatbread, but I only wanted one loaf to start. Barbari ($4.99) - They sell two versions of this flatbread, one made with whole wheat and the other made with regular flour, which I went with. The bread is very thick for a flatbread. It actually feels pretty similar to focaccia in crumb, being open, chewy, and moist. It's baked dry rather than in oil, so it doesn't develop the fried crisp, but instead gets a nice crusty skin. It's baked with fragrant sesame and nigella seeds on top which gives a great flavor. (5/5) Wholesome Food sells some really good flatbread! I'll definitely be back for more in the future.

The lady there was very kind and explained their offerings in the case. I opted for something unfamiliar to me then - Ekmek, a traditional Turkish bread loaf at $4.99. It's crispy on the outside and soft spongy on the inside. Their version is very light and airy on the inside. I have since tasted others that are denser and more 'bready' on the inside. Their light version is 'inhalable.' I wolfed down two pieces before arriving home to take a photo. Their market area is sparsely stocked, bright, and clean. I wandered looking for items I know I will use and chose and organic sour cherry juice at $6.65. Over $10 means no fee to use a credit card.

You will go along the Oxbow Lake on one side and apple trees on the other. After that path, you'll get to the farm where small vegetable, pumpkin, and sunflower patches are. Everything is so cute! The most interesting part is the conservation tent is. Super big and full of baby plants. Amazing! Just don't touch anything :) They grow a lot of flowers too. They have tomatoes in another tent. There are activities for kids such as painting pumpkins or scavenging hunt. You can also have lunch at the tables and buy cider from them :)

You can find them at various farmers markets throughout the state, but you can also now find them at the relatively new Woodinville farm. This smaller farm serves as a base of operations for Puget Sound. But it is a working farm, and the Tonnemaker grow many vegetables right here. Cucumbers (when they are in season) are also available as you pick here. The farm stand sells the produce from both Woodinville and Royal City. It's open a couple days of the week in the early season, then moves to a seven day a week schedule as the season progresses. Everything here is fresh and organic--and delicious! And the staff is helpful and friendly. You can't go wrong stopping at this farm and farm stand.

I use them in Christmas gift baskets and auction baskets for charity.
