It is a wonderful place to support small businesses while enjoying the local community. One of my favorite things about Redmond is how walkable the area is. After visiting the market, you can walk around Redmond Town Center, browse the shops, grab something to eat, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. There are also plenty of seating areas throughout the town center, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy your food or take a break. The selection around the Seattle area is not nearly as great, of course. Wholesome Food is a combination grocery store and bakery, with the entire right half of the store dedicated to bread. Behind the counter, we saw shelves upon shelves filled with freshly baked loaves. The employee (perhaps owner?) was super friendly and answered all our questions. Surprisingly Metro Detroit doesn't have many Persian bakeries (only a single one I know of) and I never visited. This means, of course, that I had to pick up the barbari! Wholesome Food also sells Turkish Flatbread, but I only wanted one loaf to start. Barbari ($4.99) - They sell two versions of this flatbread, one made with whole wheat and the other made with regular flour, which I went with. The bread is very thick for a flatbread. It actually feels pretty similar to focaccia in crumb, being open, chewy, and moist. It's baked dry rather than in oil, so it doesn't develop the fried crisp, but instead gets a nice crusty skin. It's crispy on the outside and soft spongy on the inside. Their version is very light and airy on the inside. I have since tasted others that are denser and more 'bready' on the inside. Their light version is 'inhalable.' I wolfed down two pieces before arriving home to take a photo. Their market area is sparsely stocked, bright, and clean. I wandered looking for items I know I will use and chose and organic sour cherry juice at $6.65. Over $10 means no fee to use a credit card.

Parking can be a challenge as the parking at the Sport Fields were full one time I tried visiting. There is also street parking available in the area. You could also take the 522 bus to the market as there is a stop a couple blocks away if you do not want to deal with finding parking. The market is located in the walkway next to the fields and in the District Flats plaza above it. The mix of vendors here is okay. It has some produce and prepared food vendors, but is smaller than other farmers markets on the Eastside and prices are typical. Aside from the parking, my biggest peeve would be the physical location. The walkway is on the narrow side, so it is hard to maneuver when there is a large crowd. It may be better to hold it at Wilmot Gateway Park, which is a block away and is better suited for these type of events. Overall, this market is okay if you live nearby and do not want drive to a market further south, west or in Seattle.

The location though is beautiful and right by the water and park so it gets busy. The parking lot to the side was a mess with traffic but across the street there is tons of additional parking that was way easier.

Went inside and they had a small section of new Jellycats, picked up two of the Valentine's Day macaroons and looked at a couple others. They had several great sale items at 70% off. Overall, the store is super cute and the owner and the person that were working there were super nice and friendly. I find the other reviews hard to believe but maybe they've changed over the years. I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at Hedge & Vine in Bellevue…read more When we walked in, the white woman working there did not greet us at all. No "hello," no acknowledgment nothing. Almost immediately after, another white customer came in and she greeted her and began helping her right away. The difference in treatment was very noticeable. Throughout the time we were in the store, she kept looking at me in a strange and uncomfortable way. It felt like we were being judged rather than welcomed as paying customers. There was no effort to assist us, check on us, or make us feel comfortable in the space. Customer service should be equal and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. Instead, I left feeling ignored and singled out. I don't take accusations like this lightly, but the experience genuinely felt discriminatory. I hope management takes this seriously and evaluates how customers are being treated. No one should feel unwelcome in a business because of how they look.
