Today, I counted about 10-ish produce/flower stands, a pastry booth, plant sale, one food booth, one food truck, a dentist office, a financial advisor company, and several craft booths. From where people are stopping and holding, you can tell the produce and the pastries are the sirens of this market. You won't need to spend much time here. Find what you need and leave. Parking is tricky. Street parking and the marina lot if you are lucky. The parking under the library is a sure thing. There's an information booth if you have any questions.

As with any market, some vendors were warm and engaging, while a handful seemed completely uninterested in interacting with customers. Selling pet products yet not even acknowledging someone walking by with a dog was particularly baffling. The only thing that kept this from being an otherwise excellent market was that many vendors didn't display prices. Having to ask the cost of every item makes shopping less enjoyable and can discourage customers from browsing or making impulse purchases. Posting prices would make the experience much more welcoming and transparent.

The overall layout was L-Shaped with lots of fresh from farm produce, food trucks and stalls, bakery items, artisan goods, etc. Most were quite busy with shoppers and eaters. A park was right next door where people could enjoy their food purchases or just hang out. We tried the strawberry ranier cherries (now in season) which were sweet but I couldn't quite discern the strawberry flavor. However we still picked up a bag along with a half flat of local strawberries. Turned out the cherries were a bargain compared to the grocery stores we stopped by later. The crowds started to increase so weaved our way out.

I absolutely love the Redmond Saturday Market. It is one of my favorite places to visit on the weekends. They always have fresh produce with a great selection of fruits and vegetables, along with many local vendors selling handmade jewelry, artwork, baked goods, and other unique products. It is a wonderful place to support small businesses while enjoying the local community. One of my favorite things about Redmond is how walkable the area is. After visiting the market, you can walk around Redmond Town Center, browse the shops, grab something to eat, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. There are also plenty of seating areas throughout the town center, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy your food or take a break. My particular focus is generally keeping eyes peeled for all the goodness that is organic (everything from beans & greens, to tomatoes & potatoes). 2nd priority is any vegan treats worth trying and any low/minimal waste candles (such as naked votives; sorry concrete & glass but you're only a nice rare treat). Today I managed a small haul of produce (bean varieties from Garden Treasures Nursery & Organic Farm and more different beans from Alvarez Organic Farms - both had nice staff who shared eating ideas); oh and a small sample of ginger peach muffins from Liberated Foods. As far as my list, very solid! Next time planning to get some greens and garlic. They are limited with vegan eats and home decor votives (which are super rare in these markets I've seen, if at all).

Coming from Metro Detroit, which has the largest population of Arab Americans in the US, I was used to freshly baked flatbread everywhere, many baked in traditional tanoors. The selection around the Seattle area is not nearly as great, of course. Wholesome Food is a combination grocery store and bakery, with the entire right half of the store dedicated to bread. Behind the counter, we saw shelves upon shelves filled with freshly baked loaves. The employee (perhaps owner?) was super friendly and answered all our questions. Surprisingly Metro Detroit doesn't have many Persian bakeries (only a single one I know of) and I never visited. This means, of course, that I had to pick up the barbari! Wholesome Food also sells Turkish Flatbread, but I only wanted one loaf to start. Barbari ($4.99) - They sell two versions of this flatbread, one made with whole wheat and the other made with regular flour, which I went with. The bread is very thick for a flatbread. It actually feels pretty similar to focaccia in crumb, being open, chewy, and moist. It's baked dry rather than in oil, so it doesn't develop the fried crisp, but instead gets a nice crusty skin. It's baked with fragrant sesame and nigella seeds on top which gives a great flavor. (5/5) Wholesome Food sells some really good flatbread! I'll definitely be back for more in the future.

You are asked the usual questions of have you been in contact with anyone who has been sick before entering. Inside, the booths were spaced apart. From what I noticed, there were 2-3 strawberry booths, 4 veggie+fruit booths, 2-3 flower booths and a handful of other miscellaneous booths in the realm of food. Given the size, it's an easy market to walk around, look at prices and decide what you want within 30 minutes. An update: I went again this week for more cherries. Compared to last time where we were still in phase 1, there were more people visiting + 1 more vendor I didn't see last time, popcorn! I just wanted to add that they are limiting the number of people inside, and the person with the questions has a spray bottle of sanitizer if you want any sanitizer.

What remains the same is seeing neighbors from the area with recyclable totes, bicycles, and a feeling of keeping Seattle green and let's support local. I have the highest respect for the vendors coming from all over Washington and specifically eastern Washington. There is so much pride in the produce and the story of their farms. I enjoy diversity and seeing how farmers markets attract everyone of all socioeconomic backgrounds. I also give a shout out to the vendors that throw in an extra apple or fruit to those in need. Community is huge and Lakecity farmers market really shines.
