A centrally located space with a lot of seats looking through the window to the nearby square (which they didn't give me one of for some reason that I didn't protest). They offer a variety of pizza styles; I sampled the Detroit, and frankly it was the least "authentic" version of such that I've ever had. It was square, but it had too much cheese and not enough crisping thereof on a somewhat languid crust. Still tasty in an indulgent sort of way, but not the best. It seemed like it needed the dipping sauce on the side. I'd try a different type of pizza if I returned. Otherwise, though, I was happy that they had a variety of small salads and I got some arugula in quickly. They also had house gelato which was kind of hidden and surprisingly they didn't promote it that heavily. It was a nice atmosphere, and a place which seemingly employed half the teenagers of Chattanooga. If you ask first a refill, they say they will bring one and then never bring it. I was just going to order a slice (which was pretty big and tons of pepperoni on it) little did i know they have a soecial that comes w a salad of choice. So salad and a slice was 9.00. Maybe it is because I have been living in Miami too long but when I find a friendly face at a restaurant I am pleasantly surprised. We stayed in Chattanooga for the night and after all of the horrible traffic outside of Atlanta we just didn't have the energy to go out to dinner. I called and Alex was a friendly voice I really need to hear and even though DoorDash had just cut off delivery she was nice enough to help me out with a takeout order. We ordered the Drunken Pig Deep Dish Pizza. The pizza was good but a bit spicy for our taste. This isn't a reflection on the restaurant, we didn't really read the menu well and kind of can be a wimp when it comes to red pepper flakes. Good pizza but poor customer service. Their website showed they were open on Christmas Eve. I ordered a pie drive downtown and they were closed. Had to send 3 emails and a phone call to get my money back. Been back here a couple times now and the experience has left me very satisfied. I even brought an out of town guest and she loved it too. Community pie is in a fantastic location. Pizza is the main event. They have a few pasta choices, but it's quite limited. The bar seems to be well stocked. They have an open air set up where you can watch the street activity. We ordered a margarita pizza, with extra fresh basil, which was delicious, and also a custom pie with a blend of provolone and mozzarella with some bacon. The custom pie was a bit overdone, but still tasty. The gelato experience was a bit disappointing and was one of the reasons we visited so that our son could enjoy some. We ordered one scoop of each flavor, but instead of isolating them they combined two scoops into one cup, which blended the flavors and was a bit odd. In addition, the two scoops that were placed on top were about a quarter of a scoop instead of a full scoop. We casually mentioned our disappointment, we don't like to make a fuss about things such as this, we just wish we had spent that $20 differently. Our son had a simple plate of spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was mushy and quite overcooked, but the meatballs were satisfying. I would recommend the establishment for solid pizza choices, Neapolitan, New York or Detroit style. read more

Great place. Stopped in last night during the summer festival and had about a 15 minute wait for a table for 6. Shocked it was so quick! They have a great selection of pizzas, pastas and other Italian dishes for people not wanting pizza. Pizza they offer in NY or Detroit style. We opted for the smaller sized NY style meatball pizza. Service was excellent and very quick! Prices were great. We also ordered the garlic knots for an app- came with 4 large ones, so this is more than enough for two people. Serving size is 6 "boats" of layered meat, cheese and peppers fried in a open wonton wrapper. * Italian Chopped Salad. I'm pretty sure this is the best Italian salad I've ever had. Decided to order from here while visiting the area based on the reviews so I'm extremely let down after this experience. I was a little annoyed that the option to order online was unavailable. I called my order in after seeing a tiktok for their drunk pig (which had crumbled sausage, not the sliced sausage so idk if it comes standard this way but the menu doesn't specify). I would think that if a large portion of the menu is Detroit style, they would know how to cook it properly. It was underdone with gooey dough underneath the cheese. $20 for a disappointing meal. We came for dinner on Valentine's Day since we had just gotten into town & were looking for something delicious and unpretentious. We arrived about 7 and waited about 45 mins for a table which seems reasonable for a Friday night & Valentine's Day. The interior of the restaurant is very cool, interesting light fixtures, exposed brick, nice bar area, etc. Our server was decent, but not great. Our cups stayed empty for quite awhile in between refills and we had to wait for a couple of minutes after our pizza came because she hadn't given us plates or silverware. Our drinks also only had a few pieces of ice (like 10 small cubes) each time so that was a little odd. I was bummed because they had sold out of the garlic knots but very happy to be able to order vegan cheese. The vegan cheese was great. It had less flavor than Follow Your Heart, but it melted and stretched SO WELL!!! I actually double checked with our server to confirm it was vegan cheese that's how well it melted. We got a large Detroit style with pepperoni and caramelized onions and I really wish we had gotten NY style instead. Our crust was fairly soggy & greasy and I ended up with two pieces where part of the dough wasn't fully baked. It was very disappointing and compared to our neighbor's large NY style it was MUCH smaller than we expected. Here's the thing I hated, toppings are $2.50 a piece for a large pizza. That seems reasonable. The menu showed a .50 cent up charge for vegan cheese. What I did not realize was cheese is not included in the base cost of the pizza. So instead of being charged for the pizza with two toppings, we were charged for two toppings plus another $2.50 for cheese plus a .50 cent up charge for vegan cheese. That just rubbed me the wrong way. I could go buy an entire bag of vegan cheese at the grocery store for $3 and the pizza didn't have an entire bag worth of cheese on it. Also, I think it's absolute bullshit to charge for cheese as a topping. I just think it's standard for the price of a pizza to include crust, sauce and cheese and the 8 soggy, underbaked pieces of pizza we got were not worth the $22 it cost before toppings. There are too many good restaurants in Chattanooga to waste time trying this one again. read more

Our family was looking for a local pizza place while staying in Chattanooga. Lots of places looked good, but for some reason we settled on Community Pie, and we couldn't be happier. We got seated right away at their downtown location, even though there was some live music thing and event happening that night. James, a tall young man with wavy curly hair, was a server, and he was awesome. He made a great beer recommendation (Highland Gaelic Ale), was attentive and super nice. We got a side salad to start, the Caesar salad, and it was pretty blah. Stale croutons, very little dressing and cheese. On to the pizza. We wanted the Neapolitan Pizza, but we're told it's only one size. We opted for the NY style large (19") cheese and half pepperoni. It was good. Perfect blend of sauce and cheese, and maybe slightly over cooked dough, as it was crunchy with a little chew. Pizza, salad and two beers came in under $40, which IMO is a good value at a downtown restaurant. Would recommend skipping the salad, ordering a Detroit or Neapolitan pizza and ask your server for beer recommendations. If your lucky enough James will be waiting on you. read more

Every year we've come to Community Pie, it is always a blast. I'm actually not sure when the next time I'll be in Chattanooga Tennessee, but as always, Community Pie did not disappoint. In the past, I did not know that you could do half-and-half pizza. I looked at the Melrose, and I looked at the drunken pig and I really did not know which to choose. I asked our waitress Maddie, who was super nice by the way, & incredibly attentive, and she let me know that we could do half-and-half!! I was so excited. The slices are huge, so I had just enough for leftovers for dinner, later. The pink vodka sauce was FULL of flavor but not overbearing. Looking back I wish I'd had chosen just the drunk pig, but I would have been left saying "what if." It was phenomenal. The Mel rose was really good. A mistake on my end is that I do NOT enjoy carmalized onions as much as I think I do when I'm reading food descriptions all in it it was amazing. Deff lived up to the price of the pizzas! read more

Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, I was surprised with oil, noodles and a singular meat that taste like a breakfast sausage. The garlic knot taste like the lifeless bread from school when Michelle Obama food program began. If you want to be disappointed and eat jail style food (actually jail food might be better) you should definitely go here. I couldn't recommend this play more. It's is such a cool spot located right in the middle of Chattanooga. They have a wide variety of pizzas, pasta, and salads. They have several vegan options on the pizza. The veg out with vegan cheese is phenomenal. They have the option of neopolitan, New York, and Detroit. I went with the Detroit and I am going back tonight to get the Neapolitan. That's how much I enjoyed it. The service was great and the bar had tons of beers options.
