We met some friends here for dinner on a Friday night. I wasn't sure what to expect but when we got there, it was a line out the door. Apparently, we had come during Chattanooga Pizza week. We had to wait a hot minute to order, and after that it was about a 1hr wait for our food. (I want to be clear that I think this wait time was because of the special pizza week that was going on and is not a regular occurrence.) That being said, we had our sodas, and they were able to get our side salads and garlic knots out to use pretty quickly. It was just the pizzas themselves that took a little bit. The staff were working so hard, and I want to give a shout out to the woman running the register who always knew what was going on whenever anyone came to check on their order. The side salad was delicious - I got mine with homemade ranch. And the garlic knots were perfection. I also really enjoyed our pizza when it came out. It was also great when we had leftovers later in the weekend. I would definitely come back and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is visiting Chattanooga. read more

We first used this pizzeria upon moving here in 2017, since it was closest to the house. It fairly quickly fell out of favor in our household as we found what we felt, were better pizza options. I continued to be surprised by the number of people with whom I conversed, who spoke highly of this pizzeria, so I decided to give it another try. They feature New York style pizza, and having lived there, I would like to think I know good New York style pizza. Let the buy beware. What was once the best NY sty pizza in the area is now a sellout practicing deception. This is now nothing more than a chain restaurant selling sub par dough at Southside prices, such a disappointment for my birthday dinner when I was expecting Southside Pizza. My kids picked up our 5 pizza and a sandwich, $175 worth, brought it to my place for dinner, I opened the box an instantly recognized that it was not what I expected. Well to start off this is the BEST pizza I've ever had in my life, putting that to the side the service was amazing everyone was so sweet. The restaurant has a nice chill vibe and cool decorations, over all it's a really good place to eat at. Would I recommend this place? YES 12/10 me and my family stumbled upon this place a couple years ago while on a road trip it's safe enough to say it did not disappoint, the most recent trip we went on we took a 4 hour detour just to eat there again. All around great guys and amateur t-shirt models Eric Taslami and Rob Peterson have built an instant-classic neighborhood pizza joint on the Southside. This place has been our family Friday night go-to throughout the last year. To mention another option is to become the object of ridicule in our family First, the meatball If they served a plate of meatballs, I would just order that almost every time. Oh wait, they do... I love Slick's burgers down the street but the best thing about Slicks is it birthed the meatballs at Southside. Second, the carbs It is thin-pie-with-bubbled-up-crust trip to church. Simple palette of caramelized flour and salt just barely hold the toppings and demand a proper fold. They do have a gluten-free crust. Third, the toppings Everything is high quality and your favorites: Roasted garlic, Benton's bacon, Slick's meatballs, salty feta, fresh veggies. The pepperoni is delicious and definitely in the "grease runs out the crust fold and down your arm category." That is our personal fav but may not be for some. Fourth, the ambience Southside brings the mid-town, 90's grunge, alfresco vibe hard. There is a nicely spaced patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. There are a few indoor tables. Restrooms are super clean. A large mural of a stringy cheese slice frames the "South side" of the patio. The soundtrack is always a very specific representation of the guys in the back's mood du jour. Fifth, the beer No draft - this needs to be fixed and is my only complaint But, they do have all of the Hutton & Smith and Odd Story family in the cooler. They also have boring beer for my South Ga brother-in-law when he visits. Extremely disappointed in the pizza. Not sure what all the good reviews are for. It was so bland. Had the Margherita and the Mama Mia. Made the mistake of ordering a large for both. Crust and cheese were flavorless, red sauce was not right. The website also says "The crispiest pizzas in Chattanooga" and it was not that. Stopped in Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of seating both inside and out. We were greeted when we came in and they quickly broke down the menu, pizza sizes. We ordered a 16 inch pepperoni pizza. While we waited one of the staff brought a couple of paper plates. The pizza cook time was standard 10 minutes or so. It looked great and tasted great as well. The crust wasn't too crispy and a little chewy, very good. Sauce was tasty and not overwhelming. Service was great and so was the atmosphere. Parking was on the street. Nice place with a decent sized outdoor seating area. It does feel more like a to-go place. We did get our pizza to-go and brought it home. Wait time was average for a pizza place. As a pizza snob, I have eaten pizza at many places around the country. Being from NY, I've had the best pizza around. Don't get me wrong, Not all NY pizza is great. Anyway, let's talk about Southside. We ordered the Big Papa with sausage, pepperoni, meatball and bacon. The pie was big. Great for 4 people. But just in case, we also ordered some garlic knots. We called it in and went to pick it up. The staff was friendly and very courteous. Here's why the 4 star rating. There knows were really good. Different dough then the pizza dough. I think? Anyway, good taste. The pizza was big, as I said. Big slices were nice. The flavor was, just ok. I know. Im the bad guy but I will tell you the truth. For the price, it was ok. The toppings were skimpy. The place was kinda full so that's a plus. I haven't tried any other pizza place in town so I can't compare with other places. When I do, maybe I will change my rating. Pizza! Oh pizza! How I love pizza, but trying to live a low-carb lifestyle makes it difficult to have real pizza. So on a self-induced "cheat" week or so, I ordered from Southside Pizza. I've read the reviews and heard from friends how great the place is. I ordered a pepperoni and onion pizza. I got a large because it was just a bit more than the medium. I ordered from Waitr, one of the much needed new delivery services in town (more on that in another review). My pizza arrived in the most gigantic box I've ever seen. Holy cow. When they say large, they mean gigantically large. The pizza was hot and ready to eat. Love the thin crust, though I wish it would have been crispier. The pepperonis were so small on that huge pizza, but they were good. The sauce was fine. Sort of plain and not much flavor to it. I would have liked a bit of garlic to it. So as you can imagine with a pizza the size of a small car, the slices were super big. I only ate 1 slice. I ate off of that pizza all weekend. I heated it up in the oven and got the crust crispier and it was really good. I took some to work for lunch and shared it with co-workers, too. Would I try it again? Yes, for sure. In the midst (May) of COVID-19 I took my youngest son to Chattanooga for a weekend of biking, hiking, and SUP... it wasn't the easiest to find food late in the evening but we discovered Southside and I'm not gonna lie - we agreed it's close to if not the best pizza we ever had.
