Lately however there are new people who are hurting the time-honored reputation of the shop. On my last visit, I was dropping off fairly expensive clothing. A man likely in his seventies, told me in no uncertain terms that I could only bring 3 bags at one time ! He really did not seem to have any idea of the value of the items and was very rude and almost hostile! He never called any of the regular staff to evaluate the articles and I left feeling put-out and sad to say the least. In the future I will donate to The New Canaan Thrift Shop, which has a much friendlier staff, even though I live in Darien.

The restroom is closed; a sign on the door reads "entry after payment." Even after paying for a…read morepurchase, staff members use the restroom themselves but refuse entry to customers, claiming it is out of order or lacks toilet paper. This has happened twice during different shifts--once on Sunday and again today. It is impossible to shop properly: the first time, I paid for some items just to gain access to the restroom, yet I was still denied entry. Furthermore, you aren't allowed to take items you've already paid for into the fitting room, so ultimately, you can neither continue shopping nor make a purchase. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience: it's summer, you can't drink water, and you can't shop if you need to use the restroom.

But furs they just accept, and do not KNOW enough to check them out. It's a mistake to trust them. It seems they take whatever is brought in - no matter the condition. And they don't stand behind what they sell. Roundabout might pretend to be a boutique - but they don't KNOW what they are selling, and do not vouch for anything you buy there.
