This place has the best burnt ends. My favorite meal there. No one else sells them around. Awesome customer service as well.

I was quite skeptical of this place from the get go being attached to a gas station in all. I walked in and had to wait a solid 20 mins just to be asked if I was going to help move a few tables around for the radio show that just ended. With nobody else in the restaurant I would expect a different angle on bringing people in rather smoke and mirror. Speaking of smart smoke and mirror, their cooks are great at it, hiding the flavor of the meat and leaving you puzzled on where smoke rings are on your brisket. Even the baked beans, yes baked beans, tasted like they took Busch's and ape miles brown sugar in it. I don't know if it was a bad time to come in or if the flavor is always like this but driving 2 hrs to try this place was a total waste of my time and taste buds. read more

Walked in and this place smelled amazing. Traveling from out of town I was looking a for a cold drink and some quick service. Hostess was very polite and I choose to sit at the bar. After 5 minutes multiple servers walked by and not one person ever even offered a water. The Bartender was never seen during the entire visit so had to just walk out. Worst brisket in the world. No bark, no fat, no flavor and dry as sandpaper. I apologized to my mouth for taking a second bite. No smoke flavor at all. Burnt ends taste like propane and are clearly grilled, not smoked. What a waste of money. Also, look out for long hairs in the food and bones in the pulled pork, I found two of each, so gross. Coleslaw was old and had almost turned, Mac and cheese was lukewarm and lacked any flavor. Why would you cut the bark and fat off of brisket???? Could not be more disappointed. read more

I think this establishment is a hidden gem of Columbia, MO! The wings & the brisket are really good. If you are from the area the pork steak is simply delicious, and if you aren't from the Midwest give it a try! I really like the back patio for hanging out and avoiding the noise of the restaurant. That is the one draw back, in my mind. The staff had always been really nice, and accommodating. I'll keep coming back to this place! read more

Found this place online while in town for a quick trip. Really cute place and the BBQ sauce is great! Had a variety of entrees and sides. 10/10 would highly recommend the chicken philly. Got the fried pickles and fried green tomatoes for apps and both were good. Liquid gold BBQ sauce was SO GOOD. If you're in the mood for cocktails the blackberry lemonade is well worth the $5! Not impressed. For being "the best BBQ in Columbia" the brisket was dry. Servings were small. The nachos appetizer was way smaller than I expected. Most places that is a full meal, not here. Maybe it's because we got brisket nachos. Their was a heavy smoke smell when walked in, but the food tasted bland and smokeless. This place (along with most Columbia BBQ) is all about the sauce. My dad has competed at real BBQ competitions. It's not all about sauce. It's about tenderness, smoke, rub, presentation, and sauce (if u want). I'd give it a 2 cause we went during a happy hour and got cheap stag and pickle beers. 2 pickle spears in 1 cup? Nice. Good service too. The bartender, I think she said her name was Patrice, was awesome great service from her, she seemed to be the one holding down the fort, the rest of the kids working there were kind of out to lunch, but she was great! We stopped here on the way from Kansas City to St. Louis on a Sunday evening. My daughter was in the mood for a good burger and fries so we thought we'd give this place a try. It was a couple of miles off 70, but worth the detour I had the chili mac which came with a side (fries for me, of course!) I thought it was good. Not great and not very hot - temperature hot and spicy hot. It was a nice mild chili, served with cheese and sour cream on top. The fries were natural cut/homemade fries which I almost never like. They're just never crispy enough for me. Same with these. My husband got the turkey sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. The menu said the turkey was piled on, but it was just three slices. He said it had a good smoke flavor. The mac and cheese was really good, although my daughter thought it wasn't cheesy enough. Daughter got a bacon cheeseburger and fries and a side of ranch (which was upcharged an outrageous $1 for a small cup). She said the burger was ok, not the best she's ever had. She ate most of the fries and ranch (good thing for that amount of money!) We were all full and satisfied, but I don't know if we'd feel like we'd need to stop again if we were in the area. It's a really cute place, even if it is attached to a gas station. The one BBQ sauce I tasted was good. The waitress was very nice and attentive and offered us to go drinks. Tried this place last week, was pleasantly surprised! The food was awesome. Had fried pickles as a starter, love that they're whole pickles and not just chips. Then got the brisket with burnt ends and cole slaw and bacon ranch pasta salad. All of it was super good! Good BBQ. Good service. Good drinks. It was quaint but I wouldn't want to get messy eating bbq sauce in a fancy decor. I loved the fact they had a full bar because I don't drink beer. They made one of the best Bloody Marys I've ever tasted. My only complaint would be the sides were odd and different recipes from what we were used to for mid Missouri. For instance, the floating salad is pickled cucumbers but with only vinegar, no sugar and the potato salad was bland with no onion. The food was descent. It was hot and somewhat quick for takeout. However the service was atrocious. The man taking orders over the phone was so rude; he was angry because we changed our mind on one item in our order and basically hung up on me so I had to call back and place the order again. Before we made the decision to order over the phone we had wanted to dine in, when we approached the hostess she aggressively informed us that there was no space for the next hour and a half meanwhile there was 4 open booths and the outside was completely open. Bottom line up front: Best smokehouse I've experienced. For reals. Better than any Kansas City experience to date. The rest of the story: Their sausage is incredible. (I know, I know..."phrasing".) It has some heat, so plan on a quick burn, but it fades pretty quick. Their brisket, smoked turkey, and wings are unbelievably good. Extra bonus: the restaurant is connected to a gas station, so you can fill up while you're there. Nifty. Sounds weird, but just roll with it - it's just geography. They have a delightful back deck and a incredible friendly and accommodating staff. While the barbecue and fried pickles are great, they are not good enough to turn a blind eye to disrespect this restaurant has shown. The pandemic has truly brought out the worst in some people. This restaurant has repeatedly showed their disregard for safety during the pandemic. Constantly blamed all issues with staffing and mask mandate regulations on politics, politics, politics. It would be nice to see the restaurant really care about their community, especially those whose are immune compromised. Please stay out of politics, especially ultra right-wing politics and just focus on serving food. Do not dump your dirty laundry on Facebook about staffing issues and being "forced" to require masks. Wonderful atmosphere in a mini strip mall. You wouldn't think it driving by but it's worth the stop. Had to have the brisket dinner with potato salad and their floating salad(you have to ask). Como Smoke and Fire does not disappoint. It is the best bbq place in Columbia, hands down. I always get the brisket, although the price is a little high ($12.99 for two sides and 4-7 oz of brisket, as this varies each time we go). The roasted vegetables look gnarly but are absolutely fantastic. The mac and cheese, when it is fresh, is another favorite. They have several sauces, although I usually stick to the original sauce. We love this place. Bottom line, the prices could be a little lower, but the quality of the food is fantastic. read more

Hubby and I split pulled pork egg rolls and a sampler plate. The egg rolls were good, the ribs and turkey were also yummy. Sadly the brisket and pork both left me wishing we had just made them ourselves. I could tell if there was any smoke, no bark to be found, and they were dry and bland. I ordered take out and had a drink at the bar. I live in the area and was very excited about trying out the food. I liked the atmosphere and owner's and staff seemed friendly. The owner came out to tell me that the beef ribs i ordered was not up to snuff (classy move that i appreciated) , so i asked for fatty brisket if they had any. He said sure and that they would through in some burnt end in there for free. (Sweet). Too bad the brisket was dry and not fatty, also they forgot the sweet potato fries that I ordered. I will go back again to give them another try and hope it's just growing pains. The pulled pork was great. I'm rooting for them. 2/ 25/14 I just found out I was billed twice. I asked the waitress at the time why she had to re bill me if the price was going to be the same, (subbing the brisket for the ribs) funny she said that I wouldn't be charged twice. read more
