Eat here. I stopped here while in Columbia MO based on the reviews here. The good reviews were not wrong. I had the brisket and turkey combo with roasted veg and sweet potato fries. The spicy sauce was good but the meat was delicious as is. My mom had a sandwich and Mac and cheese. There was so much food we had leftovers the next day and the were just as good. We sat outside and the weather and service were spot on. I will say it again: eat here. read more

Food is very expensive! It was OK Bar-B-Q it smells great but pulled pork is very try and I have tried it twice now. The onion rings are very good! The first time ordered the burnt tips they were not burnt at all just looked like they put edge of meat on the plate. The sides are very skimpy though you don't get many fries or onions rings with your sandwich. The waitress the first time was great the second time she was the only waitress there so took to long. Neither waitress let us know that there was any other sauces available had to ask for it. Might go back just for the onion rings and the relaxed yummy smelling atmosphere. read more

I've been ordering Como Smoke and Fire for delivery through OrderUp and find it to be amazing! Their grilled wings are delicious - perfectly smoked and crispy on the outside, very meaty. The mac and cheese is also very good - like homemade mac & cheese, extra cheesy! I've also had the 'Sampler' BBQ entree. It was a few pieces of all their meat with 2 huge sides. A great hidden gem on the North Side of Columbia. Laid back, hardly any college students. Prices aren't cheap, but good barbecue never is. The owners are almost always there managing which I appreciate. The traditional Bbq options are as expected, and the unique items on the menu are awesome too. I like their unique cole slaws, and beans. Great selection of local and craft beers. They also have sauces for everyone. I personally like the mustard base one they have. I called in an order and the owner answered the phone, I asked if I could get a to go bbq assortment for 5-6 people on short notice. He had it ready in under minutes, and personally brought it out which I appreciated. They seem like good folks and are friendly. read more

The brisket was ok, but only that. They seem to smoke it very hot, which chars it on the outside but doesn't produce a smoke ring. Worse, it leaves a visible fat layer. The sweet potato fries were served at room temperature. (For the second time. And at least 3 people in our party ordered them.) The service was good, but it isn't worth the trip, IMO. read more

This is the first time I have ever left a review, either good or bad, on a restaurant. We visited COMO Smoke and Fire at 1 PM on a Sunday. They were busy. We stood in line for 20 minutes and then heard peoples names being called for a table. Did not know we had to check in. Anyway, when I told a waitress we wanted on the list she said no list and we will get to you when we can. We continued to hear peoples names being called. We should have turned around and left but since we had been there several times we decided to stay because we knew the food would make up for the poor attitude of the wait staff. We were wrong. We were finally seated with no menus. Others were seated and given menus. We finally got a waitress to notice and she gave us menus. No drinks. After a bit more time we had to flag down another waitress for drinks. Did I mention there were numerous tables now open? Now that we finally got menus and drinks we wanted to order. Had to flag down another waitress for the order. Burnt ends, we thought, were always good. After a bit more of time we finally had a waitress come over and ask if things were OK. This was another waitress different from the others we flagged down. She said she was our waitress. News to us. Anyway, after a bit more time we got our burnt ends. Side by side (wished I had taken a picture) my burnt ends were larger and had less fat than my wife's. We started eating and my wife started making a pile of pieces that were all fat. We know that burnt ends contain fat. That is not the issue unless you ask a waitress. The issue was the amount of fat on my wife's plate was more than the actual amount of burnt ends. She complained, after we flagged down another waitress. The first question should have been what can we do to make it better? Instead we got the lecture, 2nd time, that burnt ends contain fat. Again we said that was not the issue. It was the amount of fat. The "Shift Leader", who is NOT a manager, said it was fine. My wife said take it back. She left with my wife's food and no waitress came back except for our original waitress who asked if things were fine. We said no. My wife had not received a satisfactory meal and we were leaving. I asked for a to go box and check. The check came with the full amount. No deduction for the poor meat or even poorer service. In fact, the "Shift Leader" threatened to call the police unless we paid the bill in full. We thought this was unfair and wanted to talk with a manager. She said she was it and if we wanted to talk with the owners we could on Tuesday but had to pay for the meal. We left after only one meal. Any other establishment would have tried to fix the "problem" but instead she just kept presenting "facts" that would win the argument for her such as each portion is weighed. I am sure that is true but when you weigh a lot of fat that reduces the amount of meat. Which is what we were trying to say numerous times. Instead we got threats and were told never to come back....and we won't. One customer not coming back is no big deal, I understand that. However, with the lack of management experience that is on display, I do not think I am the only one....now or in the future. Let me end by saying there was NO organization when we came in. No tables were assigned to waitresses. No one was taking names for reservations. It was complete chaos. The food is normally good (not today), and the service was usually passable (not today) and the lack of experienced management contributed to the trifecta of our one star rating (I give one star because there was no stars available). My advice is to go when they are not busy and you will most likely be satisfied with the normally good food and lack of proper service and management. read more

It's not Pete's, but given time, it may be ok. My experience was that they were short staffed. The bar had no bartender, so our drinks were made by our waitress, who had too many tables. The food took a very long time to reach our table, staff was simply overworked and short staffed. The brisket/mac and cheese sandwhich would have been tasty if it had been hot, sat too long before the overworked waitress got it to us, and it was nearly cold. . Beer glasses sat empty for a long time before refill. Beans were good, but they too had cooled off too much before they reached us. I think i will stick with Shotgun Pete's, he's the man!!! read more

I have ordered delivery and eaten in at Como Smoke and Fire several times. We have had pretty good service every time we go in, the wait staff is really nice and friendly. The one bad experience we had was a few weeks ago, and it was on a Sunday. They apparently only do buffet on Sundays, and it is $16. Honestly, that is terribly overpriced. Even if it was all great, I really feel that it is too much money to make it worth it. Our waitress disappeared until we were almost done, so no drink refills. I don't think they even had any kitchen staff it was so quiet back there. The food was almost gone already, we figured surely they would be refilling everything soon. Nope, no chicken, almost no ribs, pulled pork was gone. Barely any mac and cheese left, no good fries, hardly any salad. It looked so sad. This was such a disappointment. I had just assumed it would be great because we really have had good experiences here :( We picked through what was left and by the time we realized no one was coming to help/refill, we were just ready to leave. I could not believe the price. Overall, I would have given a 4 star review if it wasn't for the buffet. So disappointing. We MIGHT go back in the future, but never on a Sunday for sure. read more
